Why do ppl not want Rob to write next season?

Probs has a lot to do with the fact that he’s spent the last year doing interviews where he talks about how he doesn’t want to be a creative anymore and he’s trying to move fully into the “ownership business”

+ a main aspect of his newest business venture (Adim) is about using AI to assist the creation of TV projects

Idk about you but I’d prefer Sunny be written by people who have a passion for writing television and genuinely enjoy doing it, not by someone who feels obligated to do it just because he’s been writing episodes from day 1.

I think most people are hoping that Rob is able to recognise that if he seriously thinks AI can replace any aspect of TV writing, he will bow out from writing Sunny

Max: "It was good, I think! We raced well. I didn't expect Charles to go on the left into turn 6, but it was a good move. [smiles] But at the same time, Charles had to think about the Championship for the team, so... Yeah, it was good, I enjoyed that."

Charles: "It was nice. On the other hand, I had in my mind the Constructor's Championship so I couldn't take too many risks. I saw an opportunity. I saw that Max was looking in the mirrors - [corrects himself] well, I was *expecting* him to look in the mirrors, so I made him think that I was going right and then I went to the left 😈."

Rob: Alright, I'm apologising for asking you this question—

Mike: —no, go ahead—

Rob: —because it's so nerdy, but I— what other opportunity am I gonna have to do this?! And maybe you don't think like this, maybe actors don't think like this, but— in your mind— have you ever extrapolated— did BJ and Hawkeye ever get together when they went home? In your mind?

Mike: Oh, for me— for me, it was an absolute. An absolute. Sure, of course they did. You know... BJ would walk across the country to spend— spend time in Hawkeye's company. And it probably... wouldn't have been as wonderful as he— as he'd hoped it was because, you know, lives had gone in—

Rob: —right! Sure—

Mike: —different directions, but. Yeah, no, I don't think there's— for me, there is no question but that they saw each other again—

Rob: —right—

Mike: —made a point. Made a point of seeing each other again.

Rob: That makes me feel good.

Rob Wilkins on Colin Murray BBC Radio Five (it's a whole segment about Terry, also there Marc Burrows, Discworld Monthly and more, it's available to listen until May 27th 2023, Terry segment starts about 2:11:00) ❤❤❤

CM: He replied to every single letter. And one of your jobs early doors wasto sift through all of that fan mail. Can you give us a real first person insight into how much Terry Pratchett valued those who bought his books?

Rob: He valued them to the point where if he didn't reply to the mail, he could have easily, easily completed another novel. And I know the value on to him for completing another novel, not just financially, but another novel. Another novel out there. All of those ideas tipped within the pages and he gave that up for the fans to reply to the fan mail. And that really isn't an exaggeration. It wasn't just a few hours here and there replying to the fan mail. He dedicated a lot of time to it. And the fan mail ranged from, I love everything that you do, that's it just an outpouring of love, to really in depth taking apart the words and looking for the deep meanings, some of which were not there. And Terry didn't intend them to be there. But whatever people got from the novels, Terry was all is very respectful in his replies. And he took that incredibly seriously. Yes, he took that job as seriously as he did the VAT returns.

Some very touching words and nice insights from Rob in the latest Act On This interview that reminds us of the S6 Thomas plight and some BTS moments:

“I’ve had many chats with older actors over the years. As the industry got more competitive and they got older, their works shrank and it’s dried up. This is what inspired me to go into business with my cousin.

They’ve got nothing. All they’ve got is acting. And it was great when in the 80s there were only four channels and theatres were everywhere. But now they’ve got nothing, and there was quite a desperation. And I felt so sorry for them because they’ve given their lives to this thing, and it’s not always going to go on forever for everyone. Yet they didn’t have anything else to go to.”

“And I just thought, I don’t want to be in that position. I don’t think that’s a healthy thing... I take it with a pinch of salt. I’m grateful for every role I get. And I think you see that when I’m on set, in the way that I engage with other people in the crew. I’d like to have a laugh and be humble and have proper takes. I’m aware of the moment, because of the crap jobs I’ve done to get to that moment. And also I don’t know if I’d be out of work for another eight months.”

“So, you have to have something in your routine. When I’m not filming, I like to go to the gym religiously, just to get your endorphins going. It gets you out of bed. It just gets you feeling positive. Otherwise, you’ll just fall into a malaise. It’s hard to stay positive. If your everyday is focusing on acting and acting isn’t coming in at that given time.”
