Dvdhnfjdjd WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN? I've been so fucking obsessed w her and could relate to her WAYY too much since I started watching. Just... Ugh. So much of it. Being "the weird kid", inconsistent and lackluster grades / performance, being overly obsessed with a specific franchise (though mine come and go and return every few weeks lol), having a mom who really cares about you and wants the best for you and has had similar experiences growing up and being isolated or cast out but accidentally made you feel like you had to conform because that's what she kinda had to do??? idk but still encourages her child's true self and feels super guilty Abt it all yada yada. having little to no friends (I have one! (Speaking of offline) before visiting the demon realm. Fanfic writer (I never have the patience or motivation to finish anything I start though), being impulsive, not knowing whay you wanna be, being into witchcraft, feeling like you're somewhere where you don't belong (the human realm) and would gladly escape into a whole different realm, Bisexual (I'm questioning this though), gender nonconforming, being told that you just have to "apply yourself", insecure, similar clothing style, considers herself a "dummy", poor attention span for things she's uninterested, indecisive, etc etc, THIS SCENE THIS SCENE THIS SCENE

oh my GOD when I saw this movie for a few days I'd cry sm just bc of how much I related.to him. He chews his shirt. I used to do the same when I was twelve and a bunch of my shirts had holes and still have holes but I stopped and now I just grid my teeth instead lmfao and they hurt ouch. a piece of gum is a lifesaver for.me. He's OBSESSED with dinosaurs - for me it's not dinosaurs specifically but like I've said earlier I tend to get OBSESSED with things way too much to the point everyone knows me for that thing. He's implied to have ZERO FRIENDS before meeting Abby who shares his obsession w dinosaurs (just like me and my one n only friend fr) (why do I keep getting attached to characters who previously had zero friends wtf.) LOVES to talk Abt his interest. Obsessive. Shy. Awful social skills. Takes things too literally sometimes. Calls his dad father sometimes cuz why not ("Thank you, father." after he gave him his phone back "just as promised" (except he broke it in pieces but he.kept his promise so aaron doesn't care lmao.) carries a notebook and pencil w him randomly?. his older sibling and parent argue abt the siblings college choices and you're just forced to watch and the tension is rising and you're feeling anxious and Uhm yeah. SOMETIMES KINDA ROBOTIC IN HIS SPEECH? I've noticed? Blunt. Has a TON of things related to his obsession. (For me I have primarily a tonshit of sonic themed things.) dislikes being alone. Dislikes admitting his feelings. Nerd. Uses obsession as a way to understand, contextualize and communicate with the world and his surroundings. Also chews his fingers. Always wearing sweatpants. Fidgety. Ect etc. Just lile arhghfhfng. HIM.

Things I don't relate to - wearing shoes in bed. What the actual fuck Aaron. Also he wears socks. I don't do that unless I'm nailed down to the floor until I succumb to their nonsensical rules. Ok they KINDA make sense but I don't like them. I don't care that my shoes or feet will smell afterwards get those fucking socks away from me.

. anyway sorry. There's probably more but yeah I forgot. I actually got the urge to cry when just thinking about him a couple of times. Like wowza dawg he's just like me fr and I mean it. I can really really relate to him and I act a lot like him and I acted even more like him when I was about his age and was obsessed with exclusively sonic for like a year straight. lol

Ok this one's a short one but yeah I can relate to them. They're just minding their own business, in their own piece, picking random things off the ground (or ground itself..), DESPISE eye contact and will get really violent if you make eye contact with them (I am not exaggerating I actually get really angry and uncomfortable with uninitiated eye contact from ppl I'm not comfy with like don't look at me stop looking at me stop looking at me.) makes random sounds sometimes, such as screeches and hisses. Unlike them I DO like water and I LOVE rain HOWEVER I DO NOT LIKE touching smaller amounts of water on surfaces where I don't expect water to be and get really grossed out and uncomfortable from it. Unless they're with their own kin they're just kinda going around, alone, minding their peace unless provoked. Like most mobs - both hostile and peaceful - acknowledge your existence, hostile ones attack you, peaceful ones like horses and sheep and pigs and wolves and cats and whatnot may look at you if you look at it and pay attention to you and some can be befriended, enderman is neither like them, they're minding their own business, they don't initiate contact like, ever, and only engage w the player when having to defend themselves... when feeling threatened EVEN if the player didn't mean to scare them, like idk I'm.noy.really used to strangers having good intentions with me so I get defensive easily .... that is irl, on the internet I definitely don't get ever scared from social interactions ahaha 😎 yeah.

So yeah the only thing I KINDA can't relate to is not liking water - I only dislike water in a very specific context so yeah. And I do make eye contact w family members usually like I've mentioned earlier - I don't know, do endermen make eye contact with each other? I'm not sure, I don't remember. There might be more to them that I relate to but I can't recall anything at the moment

Everything I've mentioned about these characters in This post - I can relate to. These are just my feelings put imperfectly into words.... but I feel a lot about them and have felt a lot about them for quite some time.

Sksjsks I went onto my insta and saw that someone liked this… old Jolynes from like, 2015-17 or so that I never got to finish (they’re all on my old laptop… I will rescue my files one day… this was my old cartoony style. I’ve revamped it a LOT. It used to be so much more loose… I kind of wish that it still was because it made the style look more simplistic and free? I’ve always been a huge fan of simple art styles!) I remember making an attempt at drawing every canon Jolyne outfit that I could find (at least the official colored drawings, not the ones from the manga since that would’ve been too much for me. I have the Jojoveller (I bought the Jojoveller back when it first came out from Japan and paid like, almost $200 for it orz….. should’ve waited for the price drop lol. I have every JJBA artbook tbh. But that helped me track down most of the official Jolyne stuff. Not all but a lot of it!) I’d drawn up at least 20 outfits at this point. At least I think so? These were just some of them. Hopefully, I’ll be able to retrieve my drawings again… the faces that I used to draw on my old style used to be so ugly, sorry.

Here’s an example of this same style but revamped to now lol…

(Yuki wip…. The bodies have more standard anatomy but the hands are still blocky like??? The faces are prettier tho…. Has it lost a bit of personality? Maybe… I do like my new style tho… But could I still even call it a cartoony style, especially since it looks more anime than before :/…. Uh, I’m thinking too hard on this :(….)

Another example is this Rengoku… it’s a little diff from the Yuki one despite being the same cartoon like style? (Barely cartoon anymore…) I don’t usually draw the nostril slit for this style but I did so for Yuki since it just looked better… idk if I’m gonna start doing that or not, I’ve literally been driving myself insane over deciding if I want to start drawing nostrils or not… for this Rengoku, it’s definitely more accurate to the style that I was pushing for but hm….. Similar to these Makima’s…. I didn’t draw the nostril…

I like to keep the ears very simple in this style as well and again, look at Makima’s hands. They’re supposed to be blocky like this hehe. The Yuki wip is more of an improvement of this same style but I’ve been so all over the place with it… I feel so bad, omg. The most polished example that I could find immediately of the original cartoon style was of these Shinobu’s… see how round and free everything is!?

Don’t even get my started on the chibi styles…. I have a handful… because I’m indecisive. The Sukuna wips are from a new chibi style that I’ve been thinking about and I rly like it… The Kak/Oc chibi was for a commission that I had sm fun drawing for. I still like the style! I’ve always loved when artists left the pupils white for some reason? I wanted to do that, too! I forgot to color the lineart in the girls skirt lol….

This style with Sanemi and Uzui is rly cute to me as well… I will not be retiring it. I kind of hate the old chibi style with Josuyasu tho. Hideous to me. And overly complicated. I don’t really like chibi styles that have TOO much going on, especially if they’re not as cute since chibi’s are supposed to be cute. I said ugly but beauty in art is subjective sjsjs… if they’re pretty and cute than idc. So I technically have three chibi styles that I like.

Ohh actually, I have two other chibi styles….. fuck, I just don’t have any pics of them that I’ve uploaded, only saved as files. One isn’t really a serious style at all tho, they were for fun (experimental) and the chibi that you can see hanging in the corner of Yuki in the wip above is of another simpler style as well…

sylvain is an interesting character (as are pretty much all the blue lions) but i just dont reallt care abt theme ...... exception being mercedes and possibly ingrid. i see a character who puts their "niceness" on full display who also deserves to get angry and i get attached so of course mercedes grew on me. plus i think she's real sweet. not to say mercedes being nice is a facade but her being seen as the "mom friend" all the time must wear her down. like. when has there been a moment where she WASNT coddling someone / saying the nice thing / saying slash doing what the other person expects from her? UPDATE ON HOW TODAY WENT W MY CRUSH

So as promised, a follow up to this monstrosity of a post, now talking about my top ten favorite characters.

So as I’ve said before, I tend to not have one favorite character but rather a herd of them that I love for a variety of reasons. So the following list and gushing is in no particular order, as I can’t really rank them bc I like them all for different reasons.

1. Noelle

To this day, Noelle remains the ONLY character I have ever yelled at a TV screen for because I was so hyped for her. During the Sea Temple Arc I was literally yelling at the TV for her to kick ass and take names, I love her so much. 🥺

Does she have issues? Yes! But that’s okay—she’s had an amazing character arc so far, and watching her go from insecure and hiding behind arrogance to actually having confidence in herself and her abilities has been so amazing. More than anything she feels real to me, and is one of the few characters where I have had the visceral urge to squish her cheeks and tell her she’s doing great honey, keep kicking ass. We stan Noelle in my house 😤

2. Luck

I love this kid, for both his antics and the fact that I can relate to how he’s basically repressed his negative emotions for so long that he struggles to express anything but cheerfulness, even when murderously angry. He goes from equating his worth to being able to fight and win (see his fight with Lotus) to valuing his found family with the Bulls so damn much. His breakdown during the Reincarnation Arc wrenches at my heart every time!! I love this chaotic destruction child.

3. Langris

He’s a gremlin trashbaby. He’s an awful entitled asshole who always got whatever he wanted when he wanted it, and was that one Gifted Kid who always had everything come easy. And...he gets knocked off that pedestal and starts to grow as a person, however reluctantly. He’s one of those characters where if I were to ever meet him in person I’d either hate him immediately or want to troll him relentlessly, but I still love him as a character because he’s interesting.

In a lot of ways, I relate to Langris. Younger sibling with so much pressure to be the best, from both yourself and your parents, and your older sibling—who’s supposed to be better than you, someone for you to look up to—just...isn’t to your parents’s standards. And that makes the pressure worse, until you’ve been swallowed whole by the pressure and expectations and you don’t know who you are without that.

It’s three parts the asshole grew on me like a fungus and one part projection, but I love him anyway.

4. William

I have a soft spot for William that’s born from a) the fact I’m a huge sucker for the mysterious masked guy who’s Soft for his people, and b) he’s a coy troll and I deeply appreciate it.

I acknowledge—he has his flaws. He’s a coward and indecisive, but he’s learning to grow past that. That’s a huge part of what makes his character interesting and compelling to me, because he’s always been fiercely loyal—his problem was being torn between two conflicting loyalties and being unable and/or unwilling to decide between them.

5. Leopold

Fuzzy determined lion son, who is determined to surpass his brother? And wholesomely competitive? We stan!! I want to hug this kid 🥺

6. Dorothy

She’s fun, bright, and determined. There’s also a lot of implied depth when you look at her comments to Reve in the Reincarnation Arc—aside from Reve, she literally says “we finally have someone to share our dreams with!” And that breaks my heart a little because that’s such a lonely thing to say.

Overall she’s just great and I love her, and I really want to see more of her and her magic.

7. Asta

He’s a cinnamon roll, what more can I say? I love him, even if I didn’t rly like him at first. He’s a loud cinnamon roll and I will protect this boy with my life 💕

8. Finral

Anxious self-sabotaging boy!!! He reminds me a lot of a lot of people I know, and of facets of my own personality. And he works so hard to grow, his role and growth is amazing and I love him. I just wish his womanizing weren’t portrayed the way it is—and that the fandom could also note that he’s also not a damn sexual harasser. He tries really hard to get a date while being respectful—and it really doesn’t feel in character for him to sexually harass people, so I don’t know where people got this image of him being one. He’s a flirt, but for the most part it’s harmless and he respects boundaries. 👀

9. Patry

Okay so this is a bit of a fine distinction to make: I love and appreciate him as a character, I think he’s an excellent villain, and I appreciate that so far he hasn’t been exonerated from his crimes and mistakes, because he shouldn’t be. He needs to atone, and that takes time—and he may never earn forgiveness. That’s fine and in fact that’s the point!!!

He’s an excellent villain: he’s charismatic, intense, and he feels real. He’s understandable, even when he’s going to such zealous extremes. And as a character, I love him.

And here’s where the line is, because he’s the only one on this list that I have this sort of opposing opinion about. I adore him as a villain, as a character, and how he’s dealt with. It’s on point, amazing. As a person? He’s fucking despicable and if I ever met him in person I’d want to break his damn jaw. And it’s not the same as how I feel about Langris—Patry is a despicable person, and even if he grows and works to atone, he still did those things. He still decided to go through with those actions, and he shouldn’t be forgiven for it. He’s intense and complicated and real, and that’s what makes him interesting.

He’s on this list because I feel so strongly about him—he’s one of my favorite and my most hated characters in the show.

10. Marx

I’m not going to lie, I love this man purely based on that fact that I first saw him yelling at Julius and went “ah, the overworked secretary trope” and then he met Asta and I went “OH. Kind soft man who is also overworked secretary and cares deeply? Sign me the hell up!!!” What more do I need to say? He’s great 😊

Idk when I became cool enough to get asks asking me abt my interests but it's finally the time.

Anyway ohhh neon...i’m bad at coming up w pokemon teams bc i’m indecisive, but there’s a lot of ways neon’s team comp could work. Final team: Gothitelle, Espeon, Mismagius, Absol, Mawile, Delphox So for pokemon who fit her very well,  Gothitelle is the one I found fitting the best tbh? Like a lot of the others in this theme do too, but idk it stood out. The rich lady aesthetic, but also the PokeDex entry is “They can predict the future from the placement and movement of the stars. They can see Trainers' life spans.” Espeon! The pokedex entries went back and forth between “it uses its tail to feel air current and predict how its foes will move” to magic powers, but it’s very interesting and I think it also fits a lot against aesthetically. Also purple is good but imagine her dad getting her a shiny eevee as a gift and she loves it and then shiny espeon is fucking ugly ass green, and she still loves it. Lovely ghostwriter strikes again. Mismagius’ pokedex entries are all about how it delves out curses and giving people terrifying visions, but is also know to occasionally/whimsically grant happiness. Also the pokemon does this through chanting, which I think is really fun and in parallel with neon’s ability is done through writing poetry. Absol is a fun one and I was kinda iffy abt it TBH, but I think it fits. “omen but with good intent” fits very well lol, and absol who tries to warn people about disasters but gets a bad rap bc of it, and neon who despite being kind of morally not good, her powers inherent use and her attitude abt them are very selfless. Love that dualism. (Also how she considers the point of her fortunes to be for people to improve their lives no matter what they end up actually doing with them. good stuff) Mawile I originally considered purely for aesthetic reasons, and then because I was thinking her w/ a yokai based team would be really cool and fitting w the yorkshin arc/phantom troupe’s BS horror movie monster theme, and then because I think it’s just actually good. So while Absol is more about the good parts of Neon, a lot of her good parts are very below the surface, and a lot of what her more upfront behavior and personality is like is really quite callous. So absol, who’s a cute pokemon who uses that to lure prey into its big chomps, + the dualism thing again which is a big Neon Theme(TM). Delphox is literally based on oracles lmao. also imagine that one psychic idol she admired as a kid having one and she begs for one from her dad and gets a fennekin as a kid, and it’s her longest owned pokemon that was fully “hers” since a lot of the pokemon surrounding her as a kid were probably more her dads / for protection. i didn’t intend having a starter pokemon in her set but it happened.

* = While brainstorming  I was considering a yokai inspired team would be rly cool (but apparently like...half of the ghost types n shit are based on myths n stuff lol, like dhelmise on ghost ships or golduck and kappa or alolan marowak and nightwalkers) I threw out the yokai theme and prioritized other stuff but apparently all of them are also all at least a little yokai based nonetheless lmao. Espeon has themes from bakeneko, mismagius is based on a banshee and nasu-baba. Literally everything about absol is a reference to like a million damn myths or something. Mawile is based on futakuchi onna, Delphox on kitsune mochi, “witches in Japanese folklore who inherit their magical powers from foxes” Random notes I wrote when brainstorming:

psychic and ghost type is pretty fitting for her (lovely ghostwriter), but I feel like dark and fairy might also be relevant and could be incorporated. she’d definitely not be a pokemon trainer so that kind of thing matters less, maybe her mafia princess body parts collecting in canon could transfer to region villain team related rare pokemon collector? maybe kind of lusamine-ish if you made it more morbid. It's possible her obscure hobbies might translate to her liking a non traditional pokemon type too, traditionally "ugly" pokemon, or maybe she cares less abt that and more just rarity or general mystique. also the concept of neon as a ghost type trainer who doesn’t believe in souls or spirits is hilarious. A neon with a bunch of creepy pokemon known to steal souls n shit is less so. If she was a trainer her team comp would probably be psychic or ghost dual-types... There’s actually a lot of pokemon that see the future apparently, but a lot of them are moralistic abt it like Gardevoir who uses it to risk its life for its trainer and stuff. I also think pokemon that reflect her childish but still kinda morally fucky nature would be good too (gengar, mismagius, rotom, sandyghast, etc), or idk. Rick Person Pokemon(TM) like cofragrigus who eats gold, or persian. short answer: Runners up: > Spiritomb was actually the pokemon I first thought of when considering neon, just a buncha ghosts in a rock lol. but the others kinda won out on a thematic level, I still think it’s pretty good tho. fits the lovely ghostwriter Image, etc. also yokai thing its related to a really cool old myth i got distracted reading the wikipedia page on. > Golduck is actually considered a highly valued pokemon in some of its pokedex entries (really great swimmer, and it’s been overhunted in the past bc of the red jewel on its head). apparently golduck is only a water type?? it has psychic moves.... > Sableye (hopskinville goblins, rich person lol, dark rare aesthetic, feared bc it’s thought they steal souls w their eyes?) > Mimikyu* (based on bugul noz, childish, dual nature n being an “ugly” pokemon but she likes it for its creepiness) >Xatu I considered a little but the seeing both the past n future thing threw me off, also that it sees one with each eye is very palm siberia imagery. > Honchkrow - mafia pokemon, gift from dad lol? > Gardevoir (future vis, the Aesthetic, ?) > Gengar (the darkly playful classic ghost type, + while thinking I realized yorkshin would so be in Kanto. this is a facts only household.)
