it was a nice night tonight, you thought.

you were sitting beside april on the fire escape outside your apartment, the cool metal was contrasting to the summer heat. you had been snacking on popsicles, watching the city lights flicker and the cars pass by. chatting and laughing at nothing in particular.

at some point she had fallen asleep, her head against your shoulder and her knees lolling towards your own. mumbling something incoherent between breaths.

you sighed as you tilted your head back against the wall of bricks, closing your eyes for a moment before glancing over at her. you chewed on the popsicle stick, twirling it between your fingers.

you've memorized the exact color of her skin about a million times. and the angle at which her nose bended just slightly. the freckles that star aligned across her shoulders and around her neck, the curls that framed her face like something from a golden age dutch painting when she wore it in a certain way.

you felt the skin of your palm burn and heat with a desire to brush away that loose strand of hair that mingled over her closed eye, and you felt the desperate and pathetic urge to run your thumb over her knuckles and place kisses along her wrist like she was a goddess you were sent to praise.

you want her. Lord knows, you want her more than anything in this world.

she plagued your thoughts. throughout the bright days, beyond the moon's ghostly glow, when purple pink skies merged into the dark of blue midnights.

you noticed her small habits, too. how she would chew her nails when she was lost in a deep thought, how she would draw figures on any flat surface when she was bored. how she pursed her lips when she disapproved of something, and how she never let that said thing slide, not on her watch.

you admired the brown of her eyes when she was awake, noticing how they were closer to a crepuscular ray of golden around the center.

her confidence glowed off her smile, sparkled in her eyes. glimmered through the crack of her voice and laugh when she was peculiarly excited about something. the bounce of her twirl when she had a lead on something.

she was... beautiful. breathtaking. inside and out. she was a soul that couldn't be described in one word.

or even a million.

"i love you, april." you whispered into the silence just to comfort yourself, you didn't expect her to hear, no less respond.

"love you too," she mumbled back a response into your shoulder, her chest rising and falling with steady breaths. unlike you.

your throat constricted, and your heart sunk into your stomach. you couldn't tell if it was because you were mortified that she heard you, or because you were happy to hear those three little words. or because you were sad to think that maybe she didn't mean it in the same way that you did and you were overthinking this all.

maybe (definitely) it was a little bit of each.

oh, if only you weren't so busy untangling your own mind, you would have felt that beautiful and telling smile that pressed against april's lips as she leaned against your shoulder.

Okay, last night once again I couldn't sleep at all, which led to incredible thought phases, and that's how I came up with this au:

Big Mama's Daugher!April

This is just a rough, unfinished art for her appearance. Of course, I will eventually change her outfit to be more in line with Big Mama's style and her assistant.

I haven't been in the ROTTMNT fandom for over a year, so I don't know if someone has already come up with this AU (I mean, I've seen it with Leo or Mikey, but not with April.), but I couldn't shake off thoughts about this possibility! The angst!

So far, I have two ideas for it - either April was with Big Mama from the very beginning, or due to an unfortunate incident, she suffered from amnesia and Big Mama took her in.

I'M SO EXCITED TO EXPAND THIS IDEA HAHA!

The boys and Splinter speak Japanese around the lair because it's their first language and their second language is English. Also the hidden city's primary language is Japanese followed closely by English and the third most spoken language is Spanish. The boys speak primarily English around April though

He doesn't like her being human at all, but she's smart, strong and honestly? Better qualified than everyone else who sent an application

Years later, April sees a bunch of strange yokai (kappas?) releasing some weird mosquitoes that MUTATE HUMANS WTF she remembers Splinter mentioning the 4 little turtles who got mutated with his dna but he thought they didn't survive the explosion! Now is on April to save her newly discover 4 little brothers but will they want to be saved?

!! SPOILERS FOR THE RISE! TMNT MOVIE !!

Now I've already said that the scene of Leo's sacrifice in the movie was one that I'll never get over, mainly due to the emotions that all the characters exhibited throughout the scene, However, there were so many other parts to this scene that I think made it that much more imactful.

I'll be talking about the music this time around. Something you should know about me is that I'm a huge nerd when it comes to music and how it can be used to altar or affect someones emotions, how the musical makeup has been done in movies to provoke feelings that correspond to certain parts of it (ironic, since I refuse to take music theory lmao).

In the sacrifice scene of the movie, the music is constantly changing whether it be through motifs, beat and tempo, reprises etc. Going in chronological order, When the scene starts out (when Casey find the key), the sound starts out slightly somber, but with a lighter melody, and their truly isn't any percussion. It makes viewers feel hopeful, This key is what we see the group needs to succeed; once they have the key, they can bring the Kraang back to the prison dimension, everyone is safe and they've won. However, as the scene continues, we learn that Leo has made a decision that while is surprising for us viewers, but also heartbreaking, he tell Casey that once he enters the prison dimension with the Kraang, he needs to pull the key and close the gate, regardless of if he makes it out in time or not (clearly something that he himself did not plan on happening). the light somber sound that once filled the audience with hope becomes darker, more serious and still.. higher pitches aren't as soft and sweet, but now become more mellow. Its a shift that is a bit hard to here, but its there, and suddendly the weight of his words set in: Leo's not making it out of this. But even with this deeper and slower somber tone, the base instruments and percussionary sounds begin to pick up pace in the undertones (more so as it pans to shots of his family hearing what he's saying and what he's planning). You can hear heavier instruments on the downbeats, and how they get louder (or crescendo) with each one. The feeling is more intense, its almost as if its telling us to prepare for something (leos sacrifice *cough cough). the buildup continues as Leo continues to tell Casey why this is the only way that they can win; how they've tried everything they could, but inevitably this is the only thing that they can do, that he can do to keep everyone safe. And it just keeps building and building, vocals that were once whispers added for emphasis get louder and larger, as Raph looks to his other siblings, and the gate of the prison dimension, and begs Leo not to go through with this plan Leo please don't do this, he pleads. Then, it goes almost dead silent as Leo responds: "you're one to talk big bro, hero moves are totally your thing". And for them to go from this big and powerful and near suspenseful sound, to the softest one we hear in the scene was literal genius. Its almost like a sense of incompleteness. Its holding us on the edge of our chairs. We can feel something is gonna happen next, we know something is gonna happen next, something big and greatly altering in the movie. But this silence forces you to think about everything that has happened in the past, and everything that will happen. Because this, is truly the final battle. This is the make it or break it moment of the movie. The all or nothing, winner gets everything, loser watches evrything they've wanted get grasped away. The fate of the entire world resting in the balance of the victor.

I'm unfortunately going to have to cut this short for now, but once again , I will make another post talking about this, because I really enjoy the concept. I apologize in advance for any typos (if there are any, please feel free to let me know).

Hey y’all! Sorry for not posting a bunch lately; complicated irl shit. And my chronic shit. Winter isn’t always kind too me.

But, I do have a Holiday gift for you guys!

I love the idea that Cass and April ended up being CJ’s moms in the future. I also love the idea that Cass instantly adopts him as her kid and (surprising everyone and herself) is incredibly proud and happy to be a mom. And I figure that since April’s trauma isn’t as strong as the boys’ (fucking adrenaline junky) she probably spends the most amount of time trying to take Casey out into the world.

And I headcanon that the Foot leaders raised Cass since she was seven, and that the frustration and anger she felt in the series was because they would baby her or not take her seriously etc. After the invasion, as the slow de-kraangification process took place, she ran the Foot Shack as an honest business. Since the whole clan either died or was kraanged there wasn’t much of a choice in the matter from other clan members. And she took care of Brute and Lnt while they healed. I’m real proud of how the Foot Shack hoodie turned out

Anyway Cass and April end up teaming up a lot to hang out/take care of CJ. And they do that thing where they just kinda start dating via the whole “we’re practically married anyway” route (if that makes sense)

Just watched the first episode of ROTTMNT, and it pains me with how badly the turtles fight. It seems like April is the only badass one in the beginning. Yet it doesn't seem as bad as I thought it would be.
