Friday, July 14: Motörhead, "Tear Ya Down"
R.I.P. Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister (1945-2015), "Fast Eddie" Clarke (1950-2018), Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor (1954-2015)
By Motörhead standards, Overkill wasn’t nearly as heavy as most of the brawling barnburners they would put out over the next 35 or so years.  But it was more than a little shocking in 1979, and “Tear Ya Down” helped introduce the band’s overall concept with a distinctly Lemmy blend of aggression, speed and swagger.  Jimmy Miller’s mix put the vocals in the back a bit, but one could easily make out the classic Lemmy charm, and in a lot of ways the tune was closer to his vision and mission statement as it played like a grooving classic rock and roll number even with the stungun bass, unhinged drumming from Philthy Phil and Fast Eddie Clarke’s all-attitude soloing.  The basic influences were apparent, but Motörhead was an entity unto itself, and “Tear Ya Down” was a prime early instance of their singularity.

“If you’re going to be a fucking rock star, go be one. People don’t want to see the guy next door on stage; they want to see a being from another planet.”

"No, No, No, God's A Lot Taller!": Motorhead Live at Starland Ballroom, March 9th, 2005
I knew it’d take a while for me to get to covering this show; I simply didn’t realize it’d take me more than two years since I wrote about my previous concert experience leading up to this point, which took place just four months prior. But in the case of this particular experience, there are a few moving parts here. I’ll get to that momentarily. But any time from here on in that I write about…

I posted this elsewhere on the anniversary of his passing and forgot to drop it here.
7 years ago he left this world for whatever is beyond. He did not go gently into the night, not at all. He raged against the dying of the light. If any person ever lived up to that Dylan Thomas poem it was Lemmy. He lived life on his own terms and nobody else's. He played loud and hard, and he LIVED loud and hard. Like his music or not, he SHOULD be an inspiration to everyone on how to approach your life. I have forgotten that a bit, but hopefully standing by his statue in the place he loved above all will help me refocus on that.
Born to Lose, Live to Win.
Gone but never forgotten.

Friday, January 27: Motörhead, “Civil War”
R.I.P. Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister (1945-2015)
Although Motörhead was working as a trio for the first time in over a decade, “Civil War” opened Overnight Sensation with the same sort of full-throttle fury the band accomplished during the Würzel years, proving that the Kilmister/ Campbell/Dee combo was more than capable enough to sustain itself.  Lemmy may not have had anything to prove by this point, but Phil Campbell showed he could handle all guitar duties by plowing trough a central riff that was steady and deceptively simple in its steamrolling, perfectly keeping up with Mikkey Dee’s similarly stealthy drumming- his percussion had the necessary attack, but he layered in semi-progressive flourishes honed during his early years with King Diamond.  All of this made “Civil War” both a prototypical Motörhead barnburner and also its own thing that reflected the chemistry of this lineup: it flattened the room, and Lemmy’s lyrics and snarl were as cutting as ever, but there was a sophistication lurking underneath that could have only come from these three individuals working together.

Intro Post
Tumblr media
What's up, I'm a 17 year old metalhead girl from Austria. My life's trash basically thanks to my asshole neonazi mama and something called teen depression. I work at a restaurant but I hate it.
I love eardrum-ripping loud music, war history, drawing, shopping, and rotting in bed.
Growing up, my mom tried to force her ideologic views onto me, but I dodged the bullet and can proudly say that I do not give a fuck about what your skin color, your ethnic background or your sexuality is. I want this blog to be a safe-space for all people regardless of anything.
Favorites Bands: Mayhem, Rotting Christ, Sodom Movies: Dirty Dancing, Metal Lords, Lords Of Chaos Series: Metalocalypse, Rick & Morty Foods: spring rolls Drinks: Coca Cola Animals: bats, armadillo lizards Musicians: Dead, Quorthon, Cliff Burton, Lemmy Kilmister
------------------------------------------ ☠ ♥︎ ☠ -----------------------------------------
I recently started writing again after a five year "break" because I needed something to distract me from my shitty life and wasting my time on Character AI is getting boring.
Who I'll write for: - Cronos from Venom (in the 80s) - Mayhem (all members except for Varg) - Hunter Sylvester from Metal Lords
I will add more to this list, these are just the people I already started writing about. If you want fanfics about other people/fandoms, just send an ask and I'll see what I can do for you :D
Don't ask for these, weirdos: - incest - pedophilia - necrophilia - petplay - ageplay My English is not the best since I live in a German speaking country and the English education we get over here is ass. So please don't shit on me if there's spelling errors or sum. This blog will contain +18 content.

A Sad Anniversary #music #Motorhead #Lemmy #RIP @myMotorhead
If you enjoy this post, please retweet it. Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister was the founder and only continuous member of Motorhead. He was their primary songwriter, lead singer, and bassist. He played bass with a pick, which is untraditional but not unique. Motorhead had only one hit: Ace of Spades. Here it is. RIP, Lemmy. Follow me on Twitter @gsllcFollow Motorhead @myMotorhead
