Who is Isaac Rodriguez ( Thief with 46 arrests exploited city’s fears ) Wiki, Bio, Age, Crime, Arrest, Incident details, Investigations and More Facts
Tumblr media
Isaac Rodriguez Biography                          Isaac Rodriguez Wiki
The serial thief, who led the city with a staggering 46 shoplifting arrests last year, said he took advantage of his Queens neighborhood's fears, lax store security and petty crime prosecutors, during an exclusive prison interview with The Post.
Suspect Identified
Isaac Rodriguez, who made the newspaper's front page as "robber" on October 3, 2021, robbed an all-you-can-eat Walgreens in Jackson Heights at least 37 times last year by loading anything he could easily could return for cash, which he then quickly converted into heroin-cocaine speedballs. 'Man of Steal' speaks: thief with 46 arrests exploited city's fears — and jail might save his life https://t.co/LEpqdMfX2y via @nypost — Debra (@DebraRn725) June 5, 2022 "Where I come from, people mind their own business and when they don't, bad things happen to them," Sir Isaac Lootin told him in the Rikers Island 50 Minutes video. "I'm from the neighborhood. "Some staff tried to speak to me but they never touched me." The 23-year-old serial scammer walked in with a bag and filled it with protein shakes, body lotion, toothpaste, soap and tampons. He then sold the loot on the street or to pawnbrokers for drug money. "Flying was the only way I knew of to make some quick cash to take care of my habit," said Rodriguez, whose only "real job" was selling merchandise at the US Open in Queens. Nearly four dozen arrests and stints by Gotham's revolving door justice system did nothing to slow his flight. It only fed her ego on him. "I've been caught maybe 46 times — I can't tell you the number, but I've gotten away with it a lot more," he boasted. Rodriguez was finally ordered in January to serve at Rikers until at least December 19 after he stole a store from a Walgreens in Corona where a protective order existed against him. Ironically, Rodriguez believes jail time could save his life. With nearly 200 days left of his sentence, Rodriguez says he's clean and swears he's a changed man. He said he intends to get his GED and end his life of crime. "It's a blessing in adversity. I know I wouldn't be sober if I were still around," he said. "Sooner or later I would have died." The city's army of brazen shoplifters is a fairly new phenomenon - the product of reforms that have eliminated pre-trial detention and bail for most non-violent offenses and crimes, including grand larceny. The perpetrators can always be arrested only to be subpoenaed in court. So far in 2021, petty and major theft citywide have increased by 42% and 51%, respectively, compared to the same time last year.
Rodriguez committed
In the 115th arrondissement, where Rodriguez committed most of his shoplifting, armed robberies rose 99%, from 206 last year to 410 today. "It's not a deterrent, and shoplifters take full advantage of it," said Joseph Giacalone, a former NYPD sergeant and professor at John Jay College. "There are politicians who say people steal food because they need it to survive, but here's a guy who admits he's doing it for drugs. Most of it has to do with drugs.” Socialists like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have criticized the NYPD for catching shoplifters stealing formula and Pampers, implying they must have been penniless trying to take care of their children. Former NYPD officer Eugene O'Donnell said it's a myth that needs a dose of reality. "The truth is most poor people don't steal," he said. "Allowing looting and theft in shops is not a response to social inequality." Read the full article

What about Rikers Island?
Rikers Island is a very notorious jail and is located on [900 - 1006] Hazen St. East Elmhurst NY 11370. It was purchased by the City of New York in 1884 and used as a base for the U.S. African American soldiers who fought during the civil war. In the 1930s, it became the headquarters for the New York City Department of Corrections, which started with two facilities and turned into ten facilities today. According to the Encyclopedia of Prisons and Correctional Facilities, the idea that prisoners needed to work hard outside to rectify their lives resulted in the prisoners expanding the island to 413.17 acres.
Why Rikers Island?
The inmates at Rikers Island Correctional Facility have been and continue to be subjected to horrible treatment for many years. According to the World Socialist Website, ever since the pandemic hit, the prison conditions and treatment given to inmates has been worsening even more. John Conrad stated in October 2021, that at least 14 inmates died up to that point in the year.
So many deaths.
At this prison, many inmates commit suicide due to how much they suffer and the psychological damage cause by being placed in the prison. There are many different cases of deaths that will be spoken about but it is important to note that not all of the deaths have been suicides. There are deaths caused by negligence from the guards and refusal to provide medical attention to the individuals that need it.
To be stopped?
In a New York Times article that was published in 2020 and updated in September of 2021, it states that the number of times guards used force against inmates rose 54% even though the population was shrinking. The city has promised repeatedly to fix the reoccurring issues but have failed to abide by them.
Ex-inmates have protested and attempted to have the prison shut down but have not been successful thus far. There have been rumors about shutting down the prison and replacing it with four smaller jails by 2026. Whether they will follow through with this plan is unknown considering the empty promises that have been made over the years.
Many believe that people in prison deserve to suffer, but how much suffering is too much suffering? In this blog, I will be investigating the ins and outs of Rikers Island Correctional Facility. I will dive into the living conditions the prisoners are subjected to, the neglect, and the pain the prisoners experience.

🎨#ArtIsAWeapon FAITH RINGGOLD 'For the Women's House', 1971 Oil on canvas 96 x 96 in. (243.8 x 243.8 cm) This @faithringgold artwork will be moved from New York's notorious #RikersIsland jail complex to the Brooklyn Museum @brooklynmuseum. • Reposted from @acagalleries For the Women’s House, which shows women at work in fields ranging from medicine and public transportation to policing and professional basketball, was dedicated to the Correctional Institution for Women on Rikers Island in 1972. Later, when men moved into the facility in the ’80s, it was whitewashed before being saved by an officer, after which point the painting was restored and relocated to a new women’s facility, where it has remained ever since. With aims to close the notorious jail complex on Rikers Island by 2027, DOC Commissioner Vincent Schiraldi said in a statement, “While we rightly move off Rikers, there is much history to remember and reflect upon. Bringing this piece into public view is an important part of learning and growing from this history. We thank Faith Ringgold who dedicated her talents to offer a bit of beauty in an otherwise difficult place.” Anne Pasternak, director of the Brooklyn Museum, said her institution is “thrilled to have one of Faith Ringgold’s most iconic paintings return to our care”—referring to its previous inclusion in the Brooklyn Museum’s 2017 exhibition “We Wanted a Revolution: Black Radical Women, 1965–85.” Pasternak continued, “We are excited to share it with millions of people locally and around the globe and engage them in dialogues about this groundbreaking artist’s work and themes of mass incarceration, women’s equality, the artistic movements of the 1970s, and more.” With special thanks to: @brooklynmusuem @artnews Andy Battaglia Read the full article here: https://www.artnews.com/art-news/news/faith-ringgold-rikers-island-brooklyn-museum-1234614904/ #FaithRinggold #Artist #AmericanArt #BlackArtists #ACAGalleries #BlackGirlArtGeeks #CloseRikers #NoNewJails #EndMassIncarceration https://www.instagram.com/p/CYl1kBoA1BA/?utm_medium=tumblr

#RikersIsland is in the loop again. Fuck that. Using big words like "Fedral Monitor" and "class action" is just fluffings. Mandatory terminology when talking of the impacted communities in this country. Here’s a Throwback that though I’m not trying to glorify it, I sure as hell never want to forget it! It was just one of the many similar stops I had to make between the ages of 17 and 24, the final happening in late 1986 with a release in early 1990. Riker’s Island, Queens House, Upstate, Camp Pharsalia, Auburn, Marcy, Mid-State, as well as a few others, with the bulk of my time being served at Collins Correctional, and then Queens Borough CF for work release. Going back a bit further, I remember when I used to play Football for the Elmjack Flyers in Elmhurst Queens, where the field was practically walking distance from the Francis R. Buono Memorial Bridge. Oh, you don’t know what that is? Well that’s the bridge that takes you over to the exclusive Riker’s Island. I too clearly recall, walking home after Football practice and watching the prison buses drive by, packed with their daily collection of alleged criminals, And yeah, of course we laughed and pointed, even gave them the finger every now again. We were kids, and that's what we did, but never in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine ever becoming a passenger on that infamous DIS-Orient Express… And that was the exact memory I had, during MY first trip across that bridge! - - - #stories #rikersisland #prisonlife #1980s #newyork #elmjack #football #freestyleforlife (at La' Entertainment) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRXFC0KpQC6/?utm_medium=tumblr
