Elrond with dramborleg

This drawing was for @armenelols and @polutrope post about elrond using a family heirloom "dramborleg".

Oh boy I had so much fun.

My main thought while painting this was " what would be different about elrond?"

And the answer is alot but a the same time nothing.

Elrond is in a way a sad character he kind of lost everything and the only constance in his life is the heralded past of his ancestors/family and friends.

He almost can't remember his parents but he can read about them even maglor is ,despite being a kindslayer, described as strong imposing and a mighty warrior.

His own brother,who chooses mortality,is a revered king!

This elrond that I depicted here is not the lord of Riverdale. Not married yet.

This is a elrond who will stand between evil and his folk.

Just like his ancestors did.

He is holding a legacy of strong unrelenting men who did change the tides of war who done the impossible no one else did before them!.

This is also elrond who found out that his brothers legacy Numenor is at the bottom of the sea - because of sauron.

This is a elrond who becomes a lord for many different kind of elves because he is a different kind of elve.

Watching Dressrosa and seeing Zoro watch Luffy's colosseum battle on the screen I was suddenly hit by the fact that in a Modern AU he'd probably be the most obnoxious kind of soccer fan.

You know the one that probably picks a new favorite team every match and is only a soccer fan when they are actively watching soccer. I can honestly just imagine him screaming at the screen and being all dramatic at the team talking about honor and shit. No actual practical knowledge of soccer though.

I just think he and Mihawk would just be the kind of people that like sport in a Modern AU they are athletes themselves but they also just like competition and adrenaline and so sports. Except Mihawk atleast attempts to possess a basic knowledge of the rules and plays of sports he watches while Zoro will watch a sport he's never heard of in his life, chooses a random dude that's "got guts" and root for them so wholeheartedly you'd think he's supported them all his life.

All this to say that goth family watches the World Cup as part of "family bonding time" and

-Mihawk is rooting for 3 separate countries, the 2 that his data says are statically most probably going to win and his home country cause he has some "patriotic pride". He watches intensely but never actually reacts to anything.

-Zoro is rooting for whichever team is playing against whatever team Mihawk is repping at the moment. He has no stakes in this longterm whatsoever exceot that he gets his fill of trolling Mihawk, sports adrenaline and on the rare occasion his team wins he gets to be a smug asshole to the man who raised him 😌. He screams at the T.V so much you'd think he had money on the line.

-Perona liked the idea of styling cute matching jerseys so much so that she forgot how much she hates watching sport. She is very bored and unhappy and hopes that somehow both of them lose. She judges the outfits (the jerseys) of different countries and their coaches on a scale that only she really understands but all must suffer through.

-Shanks is there because this is the only time Mihawk will hold his hand even though he is squeezing so hard his bones might be ground to dust. (the only indicator that Mihaw is affected at all by what is happening). He's bar hopper he's used to seeing random sports he doesn't understand played on green fields running in the background of his mild buzz to drunken fool binge. He's just glad to be included.

You can't spell "looking completely badass" without "Gideon Nav of the Ninth House" in it. Or so I heard.

Intentionally sloppy makeup on throat, ears painted black* too, stray piece of hair doing its own thing, "...shit what do I have that I could wear on my left arm?!?", feeling like absolutely exhilarated because holy Jod I'm being Gideon, thinking about "how would Gideon want to look in idol photos of herself" to get the right look... but at the same time, feeling that insecurity she's so desperately fighting (she's 18! never been off-planet! interacted much with non-shadow cultists!) and trying to hide behind the Ninthness. There were some photos where these latter things showed through too much, they have not been saved for posterity...

*Have I mentioned it took more than one shower, and the aid of a partner inspecting them, to get all the black off of them? Because it did. Worth it for the cosplay though!

while i do think that, objectively, kotlc has too many blonde characters, i also can understand why shannon did that. one of the mysteries surrounding kotlc (or that's supposed to surround kotlc . . . hey shannon did you forget your story is supposed to have an actual plot?) is the question of sophie's biological parents.

through basic reasoning, it makes sense that at least one of sophie's bio parents would have blonde hair. as an audience, we intrinsically know something about any mystery where the answer to the mystery is a person (such as murder mysteries or in this case, the search for a biological parent) that sometimes the characters themselves don't know: that the mystery person is one of the characters we've been introduced to. sophie has no real evidence to suggest that she knows her biological parents or has even heard of them, but as an audience, we intuitively understand that she must've at least seen them a few times. because that's what makes a good mystery. the idea that the person responsible (or in this case the bio parents) was right under our noses.

now realistically, there would only be one, maybe two blonde people in the story aside from sophie. but then it's just too easy to have a guaranteed guess on at least one of sophie's parents. the mystery is gone, too easily solved. but with an unrealistically large cast of blonde characters, we now reach a stage where we can't just eliminate a couple through process of elimination and then can guess with almost absolute certainty who her parents are. the mystery still holds up. and while i don't understand a whole lot of choices that go into kotlc, i do understand this one.

although an easy way to fix this issue altogether is to just make sophie have dark hair but i digress
