Every fun post on here that encourages people to have hobbies/be creative always gets an avalanche of "Some people are poor Karen" type reactions and respectfully, you're all super annoying. I've never lived above the poverty line and this is a list of hobbies I have that were cheap or entirely free:
Read books: Go to the library, lend a book from a friend
knitting, crochet, embroidery: Get some needles from the bargan store and ask around, people have leftovers from projects they'll happily give you. Thrift stores also often carry leftover fabric and other supplies. And talk about your hobby loud enough and an old lady will show up and gift you their whole collection, because there are way more old ladies with a closet full of wool than there are grandchildren who want to take up the hobby.
Origami/paper crafts: get some scrap paper and scissors, watch a youtube tutorial
walking: put on shoes open door
pilates/yoga/etc: get a mat or just use your carpet, watch a youtube tutorial
Houseplants: look online for people that swap plant cuttings. There are always people giving out stuff for free to get you started. If you're nice enough you'll probably get extra
gardening: You're gonna need some space for this one of course but you can just play around with seeds and cuttings from your grocery vegetables.
aquarium keeping is a bit of an obscure one but I got most of my stuff second hand for cheap or free and now I have a few thousand euro worth of material and plants.
drawing/art: You get very far just playing with bargan store materials. I did my entire art degree with mostly those.
writing: Rotate a cow in your head for free
cooking: again one you can make very expensive, but there are many budget recipes online for free. Look for African or Asian shops to get good rice and cheap spices.
Join a non-profit: Cities will have creative organisations who let you use woodworking machines or screen presses or laser cutters or 3D printers etc etc etc for a small fee. Some libraries also lend out materials.
candle making: You need some molds (cheap), wick, two old cooking pots for au bain marie melting and a ton of scrap candles, ask people to keep them aside for you.
a herbarium, flower pressing: Leaves are free, wildflowers too, ask if you can take from peoples gardens.
puzzles: thrift stores, your grandma probably
Citizen science: look for projects in your area or get the iNaturalist app
And lastly and most importantly: Share! Share your supllies, share your knowledge. Surround yourself with other creative people and before you know it someone will give you a pot of homemade jam and when you want to paint your kabinet someone will have leftover paint in just the right color and you can give them a homemade candle in return and everyone is having fun and building skills and friendships and not a cent is exchanged. We have always lived like this, it's what humans are build to do.
And all of it sure beats sitting behind a computer going "No stranger, I refuse to let myself have a good time."
Anyway I'm logging off bc I'm making some badges for a friend who cooked for me and then I'm going to fix some holes in everyones clothes.

Favorite genre of concept of art is when people make lore about how fantasy creatures with extra appendages sleep. Or like how their clothes work. Love that. Fuck yeah.
Also fantasy disability aids.

đđŒđżđ±đă»767 / đœđźđ¶đżđ¶đ»đŽă»felix x gn!reader / đŽđČđ»đżđČđă»fluff, established relationship, they're in love your honor, pt. 2 of me being very normal about paris lix
đŹđź:đźđ â The stars hang over your heads like rice wine dripping into a navy basin. Paris sprawls over your shoulders like a stretching sphinx. Yet the world, in all its rare, tranquil beauty, does not exist.
Nothing exists except for you. You, with your hood pulled over your head and the drawstrings tightened so the fabric scrunches around your wind-bitten cheeks. You, with a few strands of hair escaping from the cotton ring, catching on your eyelashes as they flutter, slipping between your lips as you speak. You, you, you.
Sometimes, Felix experiences something strange. It happened when you walked into the kitchen with puffy eyes and terrible posture, a spot of toothpaste on your chin. It happened at the sight of the warm smile you gave the barista as you ordered at your favorite cafe. It happened when he found you faceplanted into your keyboard at 3 A.M., the last fifteen pages of your research paper comprising nothing but the letter âg.â
And it happens now, as you recount the embarrassing situation you found yourself in that afternoon, sporting a smile that splits your face into two. Not down the middle, but slightly off to the side, the way it does when youâre really laughing.
Cue the telltale signs: an explosive blossoming in his chest, a mounting tightness in his throat, a feeling like heâs been ripped out of his body and, from a distance, finally recognizes himself for what he is.
A mortal man tasked to contain the galaxy that is his love, every sun and moon, every asteroid, every scrap of space debris belonging to you.
How he hasnât yet burst at the seams is beyond him.
âI complimented the cab driverâs ass,â you say.
He blinks at you. âWhat?â
âI was trying toââ
Youâre overcome by a breathless giggle, your interlocked hands swinging between your bodies.
âI was trying to thank him. Merci beaucoup, right? And then he looks at me like Iâm crazy and drives away, and then it hits me.â
âOh.â Felix says, and he, too, starts to smile, his mirth melting his face like a spreading flame. âOh, no.â
âMerci beau cul,â you sigh. âI told him merci beau cul.â
âYou didnât.â
âI did.â
âA Freudian slip?â
âNo waââ
Your expression goes suddenly contemplative.
âMaybe, actually.â
His bark of laughter echoes around the empty grounds, accompanied with your insistence of you shouldâve seen that thing, babe. He takes your word for it.
Your jetlagged adventure reaches climax some ten minutes later. You let go of Felixâs hand to run the rest of the distance, heels kicking up puffs of dust. The land silhouette sinks away, replaced by golden speckles that trickle into his field of vision until theyâre all he can see.
At the hillâs pinnacle, you stand in silence. The strands of hair floating around you prior now thrash in the wintry winds, and youâve swapped your wild grin for a stupefied gape. Your eyes glisten like mirror lakes, the city before you reflected in the pools of your pupils, cordoned within the shores of their lids.
There it is again. That familiar feeling of being torn away, of being crushed by the tonnage of his amour. He opens his mouth because he needs to, because heâll burst at the seams if he doesnât, just barely keeping the tremble in his voice at bay.Â
âCan I take a picture of you?â
You look at him, confused.
âOnly me?â He nods, and you hesitate. âWhy?â
âJust trust me.â
And you do, with everything in you.
You turn your back to the nightscape. He positions himself a few feet away and slots his eye against the viewfinder. The lighting does you no favors with how it plunges you into shadow; you do Paris no favors with the radiance of your smile. Click.
Soonafter, you drift back to his side, plant a soft kiss to his cheek. He gazes at the live preview without a word, clutching his camera as tightly as if it's a piece of a shooting star.
Gently, you dust a finger beneath his chin. He lifts his eyes to meet yours, discovers your face meager centimeters away.
You will never know what you do to Felix, not to the fullest extent. But there are times, he thinks, when you have your suspicions, and this is one of them.
âYou okay?â You whisper, your hand lifting to the curve of his cheek, and he slides his own around your wrist, the plush of his thumb nestling over your pulse.Â
âYes,â he whispers back, an understatement of prodigious proportions.

đ€a completely random modern au headcanon for each aot character đ€
eren jaegerâs idea of late night fun is going to walmart/target/etc. he likes to walk around with his friends and be absolutely childish. bonus: heâs banned from a certain store for kicking an inflatable ball across the store.
armin arlert is self conscious of his body. itâs only really his torso though. when him and his friends go to the beach, heâs always the last one to take his shirt off. he doesnât even have anything to be embarrassed about, heâs just disappointed heâs not as muscular as eren or reiner.
mikasa ackermanâs favorite color is a dark red. the blood, cherry type of red. sheâs got a lip tint in that color and her nails are painted too much. she also chews her nails. she hopes the nail polish is enough to break the habit but it isnât.
connie springerâs favorite fast food restaurant is burger king. he thinks itâs underrated. you can count on him to fuck up a whopper. he also always gets the cardboard crowns to wear.
jean kirstein loves night time. he loves the solitude, the way nobody expects anything from him, and the fact that he can just be. he doesnât get lonely during his late nights but he wouldnât mind somebody to share it with.
sasha braus smells really good. she doesnât use any super fancy products, though. sheâs just one of those people that naturally have a good aroma. her skin is also really soft.
ymir tans really easy in the summer. she never burns or turns red. sheâs genetically blessed. the sun also makes the freckles on her face pop and clusters of them pop up on her back/shoulders.
historia reiss loves milkshakes and soda floats. she always orders them with a whipped cream and cherry. she prefers milkshakes from a diner rather than a fast food place.
marco bodt really likes plants. he has a collection of houseplants. they line his window sills and he even has a special little rack with a special little light. heâs got a super green thumb.
reiner braun drinks protein shakes religiously. he pretty much sticks to a diet of shakes, meat, vegetables and rice. there are few times where he breaks his routine, usually just joining his friends for a night of drinking.
bertholdt hoover has a surprisingly high tolerance when it comes to weed and alcohol. at least thatâs what it looks like on the outside. heâs pretty cool, calm and collected. nobodyâs sure if heâs immune to being drunk, or if heâs too anxious about acting a fool to show any signs of inebriation.
annie leonhardt owns a german shepherd 100%. sheâs had it since it was a pup and itâs one of the most well behaved dogs. theyâre oddly similar in their mannerisms. bonus: itâs named marley.
pieck finger is the type of girl to sit on the floor. like, at all times. when sheâs sad, sheâll lay down completely and just stare at the ceiling. itâs peaceful and it makes her feel relaxed.
porco galliard goes through an ungodly amount of hairgel. his hair is hard like those ballroom/ballet dancers in competitions. he has trouble growing facial hair.
zeke jaeger gets his weed flown to him from another state/country. itâs the best shit around. heâs also never home because he âruns a business.â always found with a blunt near by.
levi ackerman doesnât like energy drinks or coffee. if he needs caffeine, he gets it from tea or some kind of health drink. he doesnât understand how kids hearts donât give out with all their monsters and red bulls.
erwin smith is so friendly despite his appearance. he finds joy in little things like a heads up penny or when the barista remembers his name/order. heâs a pretty easy going guy.
hange zoe breaks her glasses all the time. they either sit on them or step on them. itâs easy for them to lose their glasses because their room is a mess. books, papers, knick knacks everywhere.
my jean fic

More Minecraft ideas, what part of Minecraft needs improvement?
You're wrong, it's ponds.
Ponds, lakes, lava pools. They all suck in Minecraft, they end up just being big holes in the ground with nothing interesting about them that make the landscape ugly and hole ridden
Now you might say âIvy, literally no one caresâ and to that I say, wheesht and accept my ramblings ya donut
So, how do we fix Ponds? It's simply really: make ponds generated structures.
Ponds would now be generated structures taking up one chunk, with an actual human made design to make them, you know, look good. There would be, say, 100 or so different designs to stop them looking to samey (they'd be so small that something like that would be feasible)
Lakes would be done similarly, only with the key difference, they would be made up of 4 chunk âcellsâ, each making up a corner of the lake.
ponds and lakes in plains or forest biomes would be made of blocks like mud and dirt.
Ponds and lakes in deserts (or oases if you want) would be made up of grass and sand
Ponds and lakes in tundras would be frozen over on the top layer of the water and with clay spawning around the water
Now, let's see some things that can be found in ponds and lakes:
Frogs
Nothing new here, frogs and frogspawn are most common ponds, pond frogs also only come in the green frog varietie.
Perhaps the oasis can have a desert rain frog variant that gives a purple frog light
Toads
Toads and toad spawn can be found in lakes and ponds in forest and plains biomes. Toads emerge from toad spawn in the same way frogs do. Toads have an exaggerated size, being double the size of the frog
Toads come in several colours (Green, Brown, Yellow, Orange and Lime) but these colours do not harbour any game mechanics (in other words: sorry but there are no toadlights)
Toads will eat all mobs with wings, that being the Parrot, Chicken, Phantom, Bat, Bee and the player if they are wearing an elytra, so watch out.
All the aforementioned mobs are scared of Toads, making them and effective deterrent to phantoms in particular
Cattails, Reeds, Rice, Algae and Papyrus
I'll just do all the plant life stuff at once (these will generate dependent on the pond or lake cell)
Algae is a new decorative blocks that can be placed on water
It will connect to other blocks, creating an unbroken surface across the water
Algae has a bright green hue and can be found in both ponds and lakes with the same frequency
Papyrus is a new plant that spawns naturally in the oasis, it is used as a more efficient way of making paper as it can be bonemealed and only one papyrus is needed to make paper
Rice is a plant that grows in water in lakes and ponds spawning in cherry groves.
Rice can be used in two recipes:
Rice Bowls:Putting rice, a bowl and any meat together will craft a rice bowl
This food source that can be eaten twice, eating the meat and then the rice
Sushi: putting rice, dried kelp and one fish into a crafting table creates Sushi, a foodsoarch that can be eaten instantly without playing the eating animation, not very nutritious but good in a pinch
Cattails are a purely decorative plant found in ponds and swamps
Reeds are more common around rivers and lakes, being a fern like plant that grows two tall.
Reeds can be used to craft a new item: Pan Pipes
Combining 3 reeds and 3 string will create pan pipes, these can be played to draw passive mobs towards you so long as the button to play them is held down.
Pan Pipes can also calm neutral mobs like wolves, iron golems and bees, but doing this instantly focus the Pan pipes into cool down
Pan pipes have a cool down double that of the Goat Horn
Bagpipes
By putting Pan Pipes, 3 iron nuggets, 3 red wool and 3 green wool together you can make Bagpipes.
Bagpipes have durability on top of having the same level of cool down as Pan Pipes. Bagpipes cannot be enchanted.
Bagpipes have the ability to PERMANENTLY pacify all hostile mobs in the chunk the player is in.
Bagpipes will break after 10 or so uses
Willow and Palm
Willow and palm are new wood types, Willow spawns around lakes and ponds and Palm spawns around oases.
Willow has a dark Bluish-green colour, complementing mangrove, where as Palm is a desaturated pale white
(These will generate depending on the pond or lake cell)
(Part 1/3)

Last of her kind Emperor!Alpha!Zhongli + Omega!Dragoness!Reader
cw/tags: This chapter has no smut but still contains highly suggestive themes and sexual implications. Mentions of slavery and past sexual abuse on fem!reader, A/B/O dynamics and heat mentions. fem!reader suffers with self-worth and bad memories, including past insults and abuse.
notes: After so long finally part 2!! EEEEEEEE I am so excited but also so nervous pls ;w; like if you want the first part can be read as a standalone and have a "happy ending" but now I am committed to the emotional roller coaster, A/B/O dynamics and LONG BURN PINING so yep >:3c hope this does justice to everyone's expectation tho. And hope you like it and accompany me on this tale hehe
As a lil sidenote brackets [] now indicate past actions/words and bad memories, regular italics for emphasis, inner thoughts or the little pinyin I sprinkled here (which btw is taken straight from genshin wiki so...).
<- Part 1 Part 3 ->
Being precious all of the sudden was⊠different.
Your hand subconsciously kept touching your bonding mark, as if to make sure it was still there, to soothe you.
After a quick meal just between Zhongli and you, consisting of some soft rice buns and delicious minced meat packaged inside a crispy pastry shell, you were then offered some new clothes. It was much more elaborate and certainly more layered than anything youâd worn before: a long skirt and flowy sleeves in a silky soft fabric, beautifully embroidered and hastily modified to make a hole for your tail to slip out. A sash keeping everything in place while accentuating your figure. You immediately loved it although it felt a little heavy and restricting.
Now, you quietly follow Zhongli as he leads you around the palace. Heâs back to his former fully-human appearance, wearing an elegant attire, and everywhere you go, people bow at him and cast curious silent glances at you. It was rather unnerving.
Itâs fine, you are used to being stared at, judged. You hold your tail up close for comfort.
The place is huge and you quickly get lost trying to map it out in your head, simply following along until you reach a large room with a few simple beds scattered around. Bookcases and cabinets stacked the walls, filled with all sorts of books, papers, jars and things. A pungent smell present in the air.
A green-haired man leans over a desk, glasses perched on his nose as he frantically scribbles some notes. What seems like powders and plants litter the space around him, along with a few more glass containers, incense, and a tea set with a steaming fresh cup.
âBaizhu.â Zhongliâs voice calls and you stiffen a little, hearing it again after a while of silence. It is still warm and deep but with a more reserved and regal tone like when he first met you.
The green-haired man (a Beta, you recognize) looks up and blinks in surprise, then smiles brightly and says some words you do not understand, you shuffle in place.
âYes, this is her.â Zhongli replies. âI will ask you to speak in in common tongue so she can understand as well, I donât want to unnecessarily unnerve her.â
Well, that is⊠very considerate. It eases you a little.
âOf course, your majesty.â He turns to you, his eyes were a bright amber, also with slitted pupils. Was it common in liyuens? âMy name is Baizhu, the royal doctor and apothecary, pleased to meet you, empress.â
Empress?!
âE-Empress?!â You canât help but blurt out.
âWhy of courssse.â A high-pitched voice hisses and you almost jump when a white snake peaks her head from her coils at the desk, staring up at you. âYouâre mated to hisss majesssty the emperor, sssso, it would be underssstood youâre now the empresssss.â Her split tongue flickers.
Baizhu chuckles. âChangsheng, be nice.â
You donât know what to answer, mostly because youâre still reeling from the fact that youâre apparently now an empress, and because thereâs a talking snake.
Liyue is weirdâŠ
âI decided to bring her here exactly because of that.â Zhongli turns to you and suddenly holds one of your hands, softly, staring at you with such affection it makes you melt. âDarling, would you let him check your bonding mark for a moment?â
Youâre a little nervous, but it is not like you can refuse⊠right? You nod quietly.
Baizhu approaches and examines your neck and you fight the urge not to flinch or growl. No Omega likes it when a stranger is so close to such a sensitive spot. He hums and tilts his head but doesnât touch you. âIt seems itâs already healed due to her illuminated beast blood but the scar is present. Iâd say the bond has been properly established, congratulations your majesty.â He smiles warmly.
A grateful bubbly feeling creeps up your chest. Properly established. So, itâs true.
You feel Zhongliâs hand squeeze yours lightly and look down at it, then back up at him. âThank you, Baizhu. I will not keep you any longer. We still have a lot to do and Iâm sure you do as well.â
Baizhu bows at him (at both of you, you realize) and then youâre on your way. Not before hearing the snakeâs hissy whispers again
âA fine yin, hmâŠ?â
--------------------------------------------
This is⊠your new home.
Zhongli shows you around some of the areas in what he called the âinner courtâ of the palace complex. Everything is so⊠large and open and lavish it has your head spinning, your eyes darting in every direction trying to take in all at once, walking fast on your new clothes. He guides you along the dining hall, a small temple, crosses through an enormous main hall where he explains audiences are held, and then a gorgeous outer garden that completely takes your breath away.
The wooden gilded architecture in golds and reds, the fresh wind and gentle sun. All sorts of new sounds and smells. The painted walls and high ceilings. The new plants and flowers. The chatters in a different language⊠everything is so distinct from the desert.
You soak in the new environment. Inhaling deeply.
It is both terrifying and exhilarating.
Finally, he guides you to another room, it looks similar to the nest room where youâd first been at, but larger. It is sparsely decorated with a large and comfy looking-bed, a desk, mirror and a small table with a couple chairs and a tea set. It smells nice enough.
You peek up at Zhongli.
âThis will be your room.â He explains.
âŠWhat?
âWe kept it simple for now but you are, of course, free to furnish and decorate it however youâd like. Itâs close to my own room and anything you might need.â
Wait what?
Your ears lower down and you seem to deflate a little, disappointed. âH-Huh? But⊠I-I wonât be sleeping with you?â You ask softly.
Mated pairs sleep together, donât they? They share living chambers and mix their scents together to symbolize their union. Thatâs what youâve always been told. You are to always be near your Alpha, at his beck and call, warm up his bed and be ready to please.
Maybe things are different in Liyue? Or maybe itâs because heâs an emperor. Master didnât tell you anything, so maybe you are just making a fool of yourself right now on your-
Zhongli clears his throat and looks at you a little surprised âI simply thought youâd be more comfortable having your own space, we⊠donât really know each other very well yet, and I wouldnât want to impose.â
Impose? As in order? But heâs your Alpha! âB-But I want to! Please! I-I mean⊠I thought that since weâre b-bondedâŠâ You mumble shyly.
His cheeks turn a little pink, you like when that happens, he looks a lot less serious. He cups your cheek and you inhale looking up at those gorgeous golden eyes. âMy dear dragoness. I donât want you to feel forced to do anything you donât want to. I know you were raised⊠differently, I cannot claim to understand your experiences, but listen to me: you are safe here.â He says the last part slowly, enunciating each word. âNo one will scold you or punish you, least of all me. I want you to be free to speak and choose what you want.â He sighs. âThough I know itâll be difficult...â
Furnish, impose, free⊠you donât know any of those words.
But no punishment, to choose what you want, to be safe⊠it sounds surreal even.
What do you want?
His eyes soften at your nervous silence. âLetâs try this⊠do you really want to share my room, or would you like to stay here? I wonât be upset if you do.â
âIâŠâ Your tail curls around you. âI want to stay with you. Sleep together. Like mates.â You mumble.
âThen it would be my honor, however, this room will stay ready if you change your mind, alright?â You glance around at the room again, and nod. âNow that that is settled, I have one last thing to do. I need to introduce you to a few very special people before I leave to-â
âLeave?!â
You didnât mean to yelp like that.
âJ-just to do my duties, I am not leaving you, I promise.â He corrects, a little taken aback. âI am sorry my dear, but as much as Iâd like to spend every moment by your side right now, I have a few pressing matters to tend to. I know youâre nervous, everything is new and scary and overwhelming but I promise Iâll leave you in good hands and be back as soon as I can.â
You nod, now feeling a little embarrassed at the whole ordeal. Youâd been feeling so at ease with his presence, showing you around, listening to his voice name and explain everything you saw that youâd almost forgotten. âYouâre the emperor, Iâm sure youâre very busy. No need to worry about me, Iâll behave, my lord.â
He frowns a little at that but says nothing, and you choose to say nothing else either.
Going back to the main hall, you immediately spot three people lined up looking at you with a mix of the already expected curiosity and excitement. One of them in particular immediately catches your attention, heâs an Alpha and you canât help but feel a little nervousâŠ
âAllow me to introduce you, these three are my most loyal and closest council members: Ping, Ganyu and Xiao.â Zhongli gestures at them and all three bow lightly. âLike you and I they all have the blood of xiÄnshĂČu, and you can ask them for anything should you need help or have questions. I hope you learn to trust them and feel at ease.â
You nod quietly, still a bit fixated on the other Alpha.
âXiao, or general Alatus, is one of Liyueâs strongest, most resilient and skilled warriors. He usually keeps guard at the palace to ensure my wellbeing and now yours as well, if you ever feel danger call out his name and heâll come.â
Ah, did they notice you were staring
With a gesture of his hand Xiao manifests a gorgeous Jade spear, crystalline green shards reflecting light as he taps it by his side, standing firm, you flinch in surprise. âMy spear shall now serve you too, empress.â His eyes too are golden and sharp, filled with a certain rigidness and determination you canât quite put your finger on.
âThank you, Xiao, dismissed.â
Xiao hums quietly and promptly disappears in a burst of black and green smoke, you stand there a little startled, your hand clings to the brown fabric of Zhongliâs sleeve.
âHe might be an Alpha as well, but I promise you heâll cause you no harm.â Your alpha murmurs softly towards you.
âO-okayâŠâ You squeak, a bit embarrassed.
âGanyu here is one of the most reliable people in the palace, perhaps the entirety of Liyue. Everything of importance reaches her ears and passes through her eyes. Sheâs able to organize meetings, events, report, compile information and assist every negotiation and decision of this palace with stunning efficiency. She too will help you with anything you need and might be in charge of a little logistics regarding you settling in for the next few days.â Zhongli smiles.
The young woman with long blue hair and⊠horns? chuckles and blushes a little. âYour majesty, you're too kind, I merely love doing my job.â She puts her hands together and beams at you, sunset eyes bright. âIâm so honored to meet you, rest assured Iâll take care of anything you need. I hope you feel comfortable and welcome at the palace!â
That sounded like a lot. You werenât used to people coddling you like this. You didnât want to give anyone trouble or work. âT-thatâs alright, thank you.â
âNow, Ping is probably going to spend the most time with you, sheâs very knowledgeable in culture, history and the inner workings of the palace amongst other things. She has graciously offered to teach you liyuen and anything else youâd be interested in.â
Unlike the other two Ping has a certain calm aura to her, contrasting Xiaoâs seriousness and Ganyuâs excited energy. You can tell sheâs a gentle old soul as she approaches you with a soft wrinkled smile and graying hair.
âDonât worry young empress, while Lord Morax here is regrettably busy with a work-packed schedule,â She gives him a playful side stare âYou and I will have some fun. Iâm sure weâll get along just fine.â She takes your hand and pats it comfortingly. Itâs kind of an awkward gesture for you, but you still welcome the warmth and good intentions.
Zhongli chuckles quietly. âIn that case, Iâll leave you in her care and see you at night for dinner, alright?â He seems to hesitate for a moment but then cups your face in his hands and places a soft kiss at your forehead. The unexpected gesture has you blushing scarlet and your heart speeding up like crazy. His thumb brushes at the scales under your eyes, so affectionate in the smallest ways⊠âI know itâs not ideal, but itâll be fine, yes?â
You stare at his golden eyes, the red lines, his handsome face framed with dark hair, his serene smile.
You donât like this. You donât want him to leave. The idea makes you uncomfortable.
But itâs not like you can say no.
You nod.
âThank you, Ping.â Both of them exchange a glance and then he turns to the blue-haired woman still in the room. âGanyu, if you will.â Â Â Â
âRight away your majesty!â She scurries after him, talking quickly in foreign tongue while both walk away.
You stare after him for a moment longer.
âItâs a little difficult, isnât it?â
You quickly turn back to Ping and then look down, ears folding back.
She laughs softly. âNo need to be ashamed dear, it is understandable that you are unsure with all this, itâs a lot of changes for such a short time and you bond is still fresh, but letâs take it easy.â
Your hand brushes at Zhongliâs bonding mark again. âO-OkayâŠâ
âAre you hungry? Tired? Perhaps you want to rest a little?â
You want to scurry away to your mateâs room and curl up there, thatâs what you want, butâŠ
âUm, arenât you⊠going to train me?â
Ping blinks a little taken aback âTrain? Oh! Teach?â
Same thing.
âWell, yes. I did offer, but only if youâre feeling up to it young empress. You can take your time, we donât have to start right away. And like I said, take it easy, it's only your second day here.â She explains. âYou wonât be absorbing any information if you are uncomfortable and jittery like this.â
âS-sorry-â
âNo need to apologize at all. Now tell me, is there anything youâve seen or heard today that youâre curious about, anything you want to do?â
What you wantâŠ
You think back a few hours earlier. The infirmary, the small temple, the grand hall, andâŠ
âThe garden.â You speak. âCan we go outside and see?â
Ping smiles brightly. âOf course! Iâm sure there are a lot of things there that will catch your interest and cheer you up.â
Your tail sways a little after you as you follow the old lady along the corridors.
------------------------Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
The garden is breathtaking.
More than a garden it feels like a whole different world. Bright and exciting and colorful, full of life. It reminds you of an Oasis, but just⊠more!
A grand pond with multicolored fishes and a couple of turtles sunbathing. Walk paths made of stone, plants everywhere you see: in trees with vibrant yellows, oranges and all shades of greens, in flowers with soft colors and small petals, in thick bushes. The light filters through the leaves and thereâs the soft tweets of small birds.
âItâs⊠so pretty!â You exclaim happily.
âIâm glad you think so. Gardens like this are carefully cared for and preserved to impress, but they also represent beauty, abundance a sense of harmony.â Ping explains as she is now the one following after you, skipping along the path. âThese trees you see are sandbearers, and that one is a ginkgo tree, you can tell the difference by the shapes of their leaves.â She points at each one and you follow with your gaze, picking a small leaf from the floor, golden and fan-shaped.
âOohâŠâ
âSee those smaller fishes? Theyâre goldfishes. The bigger ones are kois.â She gestures at the animals freely swimming around. Some of them are huge!
âWhat do they eat?â You blurt out.
âWell, usually algae and wheat. We can get some another day and you can feed them.â
âReally?!â
âOf course.â
âOh! Is that a koi too? Itâs so⊠long and pretty.â
âAh, that one is a golden koi. Lord Morax has a few of them here. They are also called JÄ«nchĂŹ JiÇlĂłng or âfalse dragonsâ you know? For the small horns and long bodies. They do resemble your tail a little, donât they?â
You move your tail forward and stare at it, then stare at the serpentine fish. Â Â Â
âYes, sort of⊠Jin chi⊠jia long.â You mumble.
âHere, I think youâll like these ones. Come with me.â You eagerly follow after Ping as she rounds the pond and guides you towards a few red bushes. Theyâre dotted with pink round flowers. âThese are silk flowers, NĂchĂĄng-huÄ, usually harvested to make clothes, but there are many special ornamental variants and between us both, your dear mate has a weak spot for these so he has quite the collection.â She chuckles.
âOrnaâŠmetal?â
âOrnamental, it means mostly for decoration.â
âOh!â Suddenly you feel dumb, youâd thought for a second that was a liyuen word too. âIâm sorry⊠I donât even know common tongue very well.â How could you even expect to learn liyuen?
âNo worries, dear, learning a new language is a daunting task, it takes a bit of work every day. If you keep learning, using and practicing words, youâll get there.â
You smiled softly. Ping was so⊠patient and supportive.
So much different fromâŠ
[You have to try harder.]
[Tch that is not good enough.]
[Are you stupid?!]
[Useless omega.]
You looked at the budding silk flowers and blinked. Once. Twice. Why was your vision blurry now? What was this feeling?
âOh, oh young empress please donât cry. Itâs alrightâ Pingâs alarmed remark helps you understand. She fusses over you. âAre you ok?â
You wipe at your tears and smile, a genuine bright smile.
âIâm fine.â
And this time, you truly mean it.
----------------------------------------
After a rather fancy bath (the kind of like you used to take before being presented to Alphas, with bubbles and scented oils...) and a good dinner Zhongli and you headed over for his chambers for the night. You couldnât help but be a little⊠nervous.
This is stupid. Heâs your Alpha.
Heâs been nothing but kind to you.
What if he wants to⊠d-do things?
Then youâll do it. Heâs your mate. Itâs your obligation.
You were the one who chose this anyway.
Your heartbeat was loud in your ears, anxiety creeping up your chest. Were your fingers trembling? Was the room suddenly cold?
As expected, the bedroom was quite matching his style. Golds, browns and a bit of red and black here and there. Dragon imagery adorning some of the walls, a tea cabinet with a small table and shelves filled with all sorts of trinkets from precious stones and books to a beautiful fan and a tea set.
And then there was the bed.
A large canopy bed, enough to probably have your body and tail fully stretched across and still fit in the mattress, beautifully decorated and filled with fabrics and pillows.
The scent of Zhongliâs Alpha pheromones was definitely strong.
He yawns and runs a hand along his forehead, combing along his hair before pulling out the clip on it, letting his long dark locks spill free. He takes off his robe revealing his naked torso and you jolt.
Itâs fine. Itâs fine. Itâs fine.         Â
You undress as well into your light sleeping clothes and gingerly slip into his bed, curling up around his pillows, surrounded by his scent.
His.
You are his.
Itâs fine, itâs fine, itâs fine-
âDarling, is everything alright? Are you uncomfortable?â He asks concerned, climbing on the bed as well and reaching out to touch your arm. You squeak. âYouâre⊠terrified, whatâs wrong?â Then Zhongliâs eyes widen a little. âOh. The scent⊠I completely overlooked that, my apologies. Is it too strong? Are you ok? Should have given you some things earlier for you to scent and include them here. This is no goodâŠâ He rambles a bit to himself as he sits up and crosses his arms thoughtfully.
You stare at him, anxiety still surging through your veins but now mixed in with confusion.
âWould you like to sleep in the other room we prepared for you instead?â He sighs.
âI⊠t-this is⊠you⊠would just let me leave?â
Zhongli tilts his head slightly, now he looks confused.
âI promised you that the room would be available-â
âSo, you donât want to mate?â
Silence.
He stares at you for a moment as you grip at the bedsheets, still tense.
His eyes widen as realization settles in.
Ah. The pink dusting in his cheeks is back.
âY-You thought that⊠no! My dear, no, no, noâŠâ He coughs into his fist awkwardly. âI apologize if I gave you the wrong idea. A-As I said before I want you to be comfortable and feel safe. No Alpha will force you to do anything you donât want. Not even me. And you donât have to feel forced to do things you donât want to, either.â
You look down. Although you feel slightly more relieved.
âI want to stay here. A-and if you want to, Iâll service you, my lord. I was just⊠nervous, sorry.â
âI assure you there is no need for any of that.â He says softly. âHere.â
He pulls the covers and slips them over you both, lying down facing you but still keeping a little distance. You do the same, curled up face to face with him.
Heâs so effortlessly handsome.
And kind.
And you like him.
But heâs still an Alpha.
âIs this alright? Weâre just going to sleep, I promise.â He brushes some hair away from your face.
You nod.
âIs there⊠anything you want to talk about or ask me?â
You... donât know.
You shake your head.
âHmmm. Want to share about your day? What were you up to with Ping?â He gives you a playful smile. Suddenly he feels less like an imposing strict emperor, or like a scary Alpha. Heâs just your Zhongli.
âShe⊠showed me the garden. I wanted to see.â
âAh, the royal garden has many fascinating sights and itâs a beautiful landscape to retreat to and ease oneâs mind. I had the feeling youâd be interested.â
âThere were so many beautiful things. She taught me about the silk flowers, nĂchĂĄng-huÄ. And all the trees and fishes and birds.â
âOh? Are these your first words in liyuen, my dear?â
You giggle. âI⊠suppose they are. She also showed me your turtles JiĂ n and FĂč and told me what their names mean, they are so cute. Oh! And we saw the liĂșlĂ bah⊠bai⊠bÇihĂ©! I sang to them and they bloomed! It was... amazing.â
âI see. Not everyone can achieve that, Iâll admit Iâm quite hopeless at singing.â He chuckles âWhat more did you learn?â
Feeling much more content and at ease you continue retelling all the new things you had experienced and the vocabulary you had learned including how to introduce yourself and some greetings and basic words. Talking for what felt like hours until weariness and sleep claimed you both.
Zhongli simply listened and stared at you, captivated. He seemed content as well.
It made you happy.
------------------------------------------
For the next couple of months, you established a sort of routine.
Youâd wake up early alongside Zhongli, even though you didnât need to, you simply enjoyed having some morning tea and breakfast with him. Afterwards heâd go tend to some of his official duties and youâd stay with Ping LÇolao, learning more and more each day. By now you could even follow some basic conversation (provided the other person didnât speak too fast) although reading and writing was still extremely difficult.
Youâd expressed interest in some gardening and even headed to the kitchens to prepare some food by yourself. The maids claimed there was no need for the empress to do such âmenial tasksâ but as an Omega you pride yourself in certain things, and cooking for your Alpha was something youâd yearned to do.
You were overjoyed when Zhongli praised your Jade parcels.
Youâd always have lunch with him and some days heâd accompany you for a stroll or youâd stay at his study for some leisure time, or even at some meetings. It had been a little unnerving at first but you also knew it was important to know others and be known in the council, as well as understand Liyue outside of the palace walls. After all, you are an empress now.
At night, you slept close to him. The initial awkwardness of sleeping at opposite sides of the bed soon traded for a much cuddlier approach, often with you curled up to Zhongliâs chest or him spooning you, tails often intertwined together. The bed and the entire room now have a mix of your combined scents, like true mates.
And so, life was goodâŠ
------------------------------------------Â Â
Youâre slowly pulled out of your sleep as Zhongli stirs in the bed. You grumble a little and yawn, already missing his warmth. It was so pleasantâŠ
âGood morning, my dear dragoness.â
âMorningâŠâ You mumble, not opening your eyes and instead blindly reaching for his pillow to hug and cling to. âCan we stay for longer?â You whine.
âYou definitely can, but I have to go.â He kisses your forehead âRest, my dear.â
You pout but say nothing. Squeezing at the pillow and burying your face in it.
It smells so goodâŠ
------------------------------------------Â Â
âHmm⊠is it warmer today?â You wonder aloud as the maids help you up with the layers of your hanfu. The clothes still hot and heavy in contrast to what you used to wear at the desert, but today seemingly more so⊠the sash feels more constricting than usual. âI-I think Iâd like to wear something a little lighter⊠if possible.â
âOf course, your majesty, no problem.â
You smile at them, grateful.
 --------------------------------------------
Sitting at Zhongliâs study room you practice some basic liyuen calligraphy while he seemingly goes over some important documents. The silence is comfortable and a warm cup of Qixing tea steams at both desks. Yet, something keeps bothering you.
You huff lightly, scratching and picking at the scales of your tail, irritated with the uncomfortable feeling. Why is it so itchy? A couple of them fall off, revealing new glossy ones underneath.
âAhâŠâ So that meansâŠ
You stop for a moment. The feverish feeling, scents being stronger on your nose, the urge to nest and cling to your mate.
Hmm⊠part of you is a little excited. And yet, there is fear.
------------------------------------------Â Â
âYou have quite the appetite today, dear. Eat slowly, the food wonât go anywhere.â Ping chuckles as you practically pick a little of every dish while still trying to keep some modicum of elegance. Chopsticks werenât that easy after all.
âYes⊠I think⊠I think itâs my pre-heat hormones.â You sigh before munching on a shrimp ball.
Your heatâŠ
Your first heat with Zhongli. With any Alpha to be honest. Youâd always had to endure them on your own (Master couldnât have you get pregnant) and they were excruciating and debilitating, crying out for days with your skin burning and itching, trying to sate yourself with your fingers and humping pillows. But now⊠youâre happily bonded.
Would it⊠feel good again?
Like, that first time you two matedâŠ
You feel your cheeks heat up.
âExcuse me?â
âHm?â
Youâre brought back to reality to see Ping staring at you seemingly a little alarmed.
âPre-heat? Young empress, are you going into heat soon?â
âY-yeah? Probably um, tonightâŠ? Or tomorrow.â The onsets are always so quick, and your cycle has always been more or less stable.
The elder places her chopsticks down. âHave you told Lord Morax?â
âUm. N-No, not yet. But⊠m-maybe he already caught on...â You tilt your head.
âŠRight?
Then again even you took a couple of days to identify the signs, and now for sure you were at the brink of it. Maybe heâll mate you tonightâŠ
Hm⊠how will Zhongli react to your heat scent?
You have to do your best!
[Be a good omega.]
Ping stands up, her expression still gentle but with a sort of urgency to it, your instincts catch the feeling sheâs worried about something.
âI have to inform about this, please stay here dear.â
Now youâre nervous. You nod slowly.
Why does it feel like you did something wrong
------------------------------------------
After that, things get⊠chaotic.
Itâs only a while later that you find yourself at the infirmary. Ganyu and Zhongli are also there and everyoneâs anxious pheromones in the air do not sit well with you (subtle as they are, your nose is hyperaware right now).
âIâm sorry the symptoms are already settled in. At this point it is simply not feasible to give her suppressants, she has to go through this heat.â Baizhu says, looking troubled.
Feasible? Suppressants? More unknown words butâŠ
Is there something wrong with your heat?
Ganyu scurries off and Ping starts talking with Baizhu on the other side of the room. You cling to Zhongliâs robe, trying to soothe yourself with his presence but his scent is⊠agitated.
You whine to call out to him. Youâre scared.
âDid I do something wrong?â
Zhongli pulls you close, cupping your face again, staring straight at you. âNo⊠no my dear dragoness, of course you didnât, itâs justâŠâ He steels himself searching for the right words, it doesnât ease you in the slightest. âWe didnât expect your heat so soon. I should have known, noticed⊠Iâm sorry.â
Why is your alpha apologizing to you? That is ridiculous.
âIs it a bad thing?â
âItâs⊠not the right time.â
Youâre so confused.
Donât Alphas like it when Omegas are in heat? Soft, pliant, warm, needy and ready to breed.
âI just donât want you to feel obligated to do thisâŠâ He says. âAnd⊠you could trigger my rut, you could end up pregnant. I donât want to⊠scare you, or hurt you. Itâs much too soon for us to share your heat. I thought weâd have more time for you to get acclimated to Liyue orâŠâ He shakes his head. âNevermind. For the next few days youâll be in a separate room, yes? No one will disturb you during your heat, I promise.â
âB-But then⊠I⊠whatâŠ?â
Alone?
âUsually omegas take suppressants, like a type of medicine, to stave off their heats so they donât have to face these risks or suffer them alone, and then when theyâre ready, when they want, they choose to share heats with their partners.â He explains.
âBut I want to! I⊠Iâll be good!â
Zhongli sighs. âDarling you are good, you are precious to me. You donât need to prove anything or do things because they are âexpectedâ of you.â
Heâs not listening!
He asks you what you want. He says you can choose. But now that you tell him, ask him, beg him even⊠he denies you?
How come youâre always making the wrong choice?
Was it all a lie then?
âBut I- T-then- Why-⊠YOUâRE CONFUSING ME!!â You yell, tears stinging in your eyes.
There are a few gasps and you see not only Baizhu and Ping, but Ganyu and some of the maids staring at you in shock. You cover your mouth, eyes wide at the sudden burst of fierceness and emotion.
You yelled at him.
You talked back.
You should be punished.
He stares at you, frozen like a statue for a few moments. You stare at him, pitiful, your eyes begging. A whimper leaves you and Zhongli lets out a shuddering breath.
Oh, your Alpha wants you, you know it.
"Please..." You mumble, voice so small.
"I'm sorry my dear, it's better this way." His hand moves towards you, to cup your face again or brush at your hair you're not sure, but he stops himself before you can find out. He sighs, averting his gaze and looking conflicted, and then turns around.
This is your punishment.
"It'll be just a few days, you'll be well-cared for. This is for the best." He says sternly, voice pinched.
And then he leaves.
Your heart shatters.
Everything is a blur after that. Youâre gently guided along towards an empty nest room, the same one you'd first met him at, there are some things with both your scents on it but they feel sterile, washed anew.
Your hands start trembling. Your eyes start to water. Your lips quiver. Your throat feels tight, choked and dry. Your body feels feverish, hot and restless.
Zhongli rejected you.
âYour majesty please calm down."
[Useless.]
[Moron.]
[Whore.]
You could no longer breathe, hear nor see. You feel like you're drowning, unable to process what just happened. Your mateâŠyour precious mateâŠheâŠheâŠ
He abandoned you.
âYour majestyâŠ?"
You scream.

Simple Spell - Full Moon Wish Jar
Intent: To harness the power of the lunar cycle for the manifestation and fulfillment of wishes.
Materials:
Small Jar with tight-fitting lid
Chime candle & fire source
Oil for sealing
Herbs and Items representing your wish
Ideal Timing: Waxing or Full Moon
Find a clear space to work. Make sure itâs free of fire hazards. If possible, try to work near a window through which you can see the moon. (If you donât have one, thatâs all right too, since youâll be setting the jar out for the moonlight when finished.) Light your candle, focus your intentions, and get to work.
Select herbs and trinkets which fit inside the jar to represent your wish. For example, if your wish is for money or prosperity, you might include coins or small craft gems. If your wish is for health, you might include vitamin pills or a charm representing medicine. Check your books for herbs or crystals that correspond to your wish as well. This is your wish - make the spell your own. The contents of the jar can be whatever you want.
Use the materials that resonate best with you, but remember that your focused intention is the most important component of all. If desired, you can write your wish on a dried leaf or a piece of paper to give the spell a clear direction to work in.
Some common plants associated with wish-making include:
Bamboo
Bay Leaf
Blue Violet
Dandelion Seeds
Dogwood Petals
Nutmeg
Peppermint
Sage Leaf (any color)
Sunflower Petals or Seeds
Once your jar is complete, drip three drops of wax from the candle into the jar and circle the mouth of the jar three times with the oil to seal the charm. Then cap the jar and seal it with wax. Leave your thumbprint in wax on top of the lid. Place the jar somewhere that it will be touched by the light of the full moon and leave it overnight.
The jar should work for about a month, or slightly longer if youâre working with a supermoon. When the next full moon rolls around, you can recharge the jar by leaving it out overnight again, or make a new jar with a new wish.
Recipe suggestions under the cut. (And if you like this spell, you'll love my books!)

âIt was an assumptionâalmost an article of faithâamongst many biogeographers, ecologists, and paleoecologists that the great regional rainforests were, at Western contact, the product of natural climatic, biogeographic, and ecological processes,â wrote paleoecologist Chris Hunt, now based at Liverpool John Moores University, and his colleague, Cambridge University archaeologist Ryan Rabett, in a 2014 paper. âIt was widely thought that peoples living in the rainforest caused little change to vegetation.â New research is challenging this long-held assumption. Recent paleoecological studies by Hunt and other colleagues show evidence of âdisturbanceâ in the vegetation around Pa Lungan and other Kelabit villages, indicating that humans have shaped and altered these jungles not just for generationsâbut for millennia. Borneoâs inhabitants from a much more distant past likely burned the forests and cleared lands to cultivate edible plants. They created a complex system in which farming and foraging were intertwined with spiritual beliefs and land use in ways that scientists are just beginning to understand. Samantha Jones, lead author on this investigation and researcher at the Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution, has studied ancient pollen cores in the Kelabit Highlands as part of the Cultured Rainforest Project. This is a U.K.-based team of anthropologists, archaeologists, and paleoecologists that is examining the long-term and present-day interactions between people and rainforests. The project has led to continuing research that is forming a new scientific narrative of the Borneo highlands. People were most likely manipulating plants from as early as 50,000 years ago in the lowlands, Jones says. Thatâs around the time humans likely first arrived. Scholars had long classified these early inhabitants as foragersâbut then came the studies at Niah Cave. There, in a series of limestone caverns near the coast, scientists found paleoecological evidence that early humans got right to work burning the forest, managing vegetation, and eating a complex diet based on hunting, foraging, fishing, and processing plants from the jungle. This late Pleistocene diet spanned everything from large mammals to small mollusks, to a wide array of tuberous taros and yams. By 10,000 years ago, the folks in the lowlands were growing sago and manipulating other vegetation such as wild rice, Hunt says. The lines between foraging and farming undoubtedly blurred. The Niah Cave folks were growing and picking, hunting and gathering, fishing and gardening across the entire landscape.

âThe Cultured Rainforest project has shown how profoundly entangled the lives of humans and other species in the rainforest are,â says University of London anthropologist Monica Janowski, a member of the project team who has spent decades studying highland Borneo cultures. âThis entanglement has developed over centuries and millennia and succeeds in maintaining a relatively balanced relationship between species.â Borneoâs jungle is, in fact, anything but untouched: What we see is a result of both human hands and natural forces, working in tandem. The Kelabit are a little bit farmer and a little bit forager with no clear line between, Janowski says. This dualistic approach to land use may reveal a deeper human nature. âScratch any modern human and you will find, under the surface, a forager,â she says. âWe have powerful foraging instincts. We also have powerful instincts to manage plants and animals. Both of these instincts have been with us for millennia.â

A list of (realistic) things you can do to be more environmentally friendly
(from an earth-loving horticulture student.)
â COSMETICS
Use bar soap instead of soap bottles
Use old toothbrushes for cleaning surfaces
Try exploring and researching some homemade face/body/lip products
Use ice sleeves, sunglasses, and caps instead of sunscreen (Edit: Iâve seen people say that it is safer and even necessary to wear sunscreen at all times so try to use eco friendly sunscreen instead! In my country itâs pretty uncommon to wear sunscreen often as we usually wear ice sleeves which is why I did not know this oof)
Use coffee grinds or homemade tumeric masks instead of cosmetic products with exfoliator beads
Invest in a metal ear cleanser instead of cotton buds
Try placing more importance on skincare instead of contributing to exploitative beauty companies by buying makeup
Use cosmetic products that do not contain palm oil
â CLOTHING
Try as much as possible to rewear your outfits at least twice before washing them
Actually WEAR your clothes! I know some of yâall just wear them once for your Instagram post and let it rot in your closet forever. Stop doing that!
Thrift, stitch up holes in your clothes, and use second hand clothing instead of supporting fast fashion companies like SHEIN, H&M, Zara, etc.
Cut up your old clothing into yarn and do macramĂš with it
Cut patches of old clothing to turn into reusable cotton pads
Learn how to knit, crochet or stitch your clothes!
If you use tampons, try menstrual cups or discs instead. If you use pads, try reusable pads or period underwear. (Trust me, it works). Also, use reusable panty liners instead of disposable ones. They may seem expensive but you will end up saving a lot more in the long run
â GARDENING
Plant seeds/cuttings in your old bottles, jars, and containers
Propagate your plants and exchange cuttings with your friends instead of buying new plants
Make your own soil mixes instead of buying soil mixes
Better yet, donât use soil for your indoor plants and try getting into hydroponics or semihydroponics instead. This saves so much water and doesnât contribute to mining of soil
Fertilise plants with fruit peels, coffee grinds, and tea leaves. (DO NOT use chemical fertiliser on soil)
Plant more legume plants in your garden instead of using nitrogen fertilisers. (Look up the nitrogen cycle if you need an explanation on this)
Avoid pesticides unless really needed. Try sprinkling cinnamon powder on soil or spraying neem oil on plants and soil to keep away pests.
If you have a lawn, try looking into rain gardens and consider making one
Let the (non invasive) weeds in your lawn/garden grow! They are there for a reason!
Stop killing earthworms and millipedes in your garden. This also applies to snails native to your region. They are there for a reason.
Water used to wash fruits and rice can be used to water plants
â REDUCE, REUSE
Use the caps of jars as soap holders
Use recycled paper/notebooks
Wash and dry your glass/plastic items before throwing them in the recycling bin
Keep any plastic bags for future use
Use eco friendly or reusable dish sponges
Use reusable straws and cups
Invest in a fabric cup holder
Bring a water bottle with you wherever you go
Drink more water and less sugary drinks
Bring reusable bags for buying groceries instead of using plastic ones
Always keep a folded up tote/shopping bag with you in case you spontaneously decide to buy something
â ELECTRICITY
Set a timer on your air conditioning instead of letting it run throughout the night
Better yet, use a fan instead of an air conditioner
Open your windows! Aerate your home!
Allow natural light to enter your home during the daytime, so as to avoid turning on your lights
Switch to LED lightbulbs instead of regular lightbulbs
Turn off any switches in your house when they are not in use
Collect the water from your air conditioner/dehumidifier condenser and use that to water plants, clean surfaces, steam ironing, and flushing toilets. Do not drink it though!
â INTERNET
Delete your all of your unwanted emails
Delete your inactive social media accounts
Try not to post excessively on social media and stop scrolling excessively too. This not only reduces energy usage but also improves your mental health and productivity
Try to keep to one social media app instead of having so many
Reduce your internet usage
Save your eBooks on a thumbdrive instead of on cloud
Use Ecosia instead of Google
Stop being influenced by social media trends that only just contribute to consumerism
Download music instead of streaming
Reduce online shopping
â FOOD
Reduce intake of processed foods
Reduce intake of fish, beef, and dairy
Try eating vegan or vegetarian foods at least once or twice a week
Cook your own meals instead of eating out
Bring your own food containers when taking away food from stores
Beeswax wrap instead of cling wrap!
Buy loose-leaf tea or plastic free tea bags instead of regular tea bags
Eat more mushrooms, vegetables, and fruits and drink more water
Support local farmers
And finally, educate yourself more about ecology and the environment!
