🖊️ BALLPOINT PEN — does your oc have any tattoos? do they want any (more) tattoos?

Isaac likes the idea of tattoos but would never get one for himself. He's too obsessed with perfection and the idea that his body is this pure thing designed only for heroics. He grew up in a household where tattoos were disparaged as "tacky" and "you know those are permanent, right?", and he internalized it too much.

💤 SLEEPING SIGN — is your oc a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? how are their sleeping habits?

He's a light sleeper. And, after the accident that injured his arm, he's been more prone to nightmares--though not all of them necessarily all about the accident itself. Position-wise, he strikes me as a side sleeper, but I also feel like he moves around a lot in his sleep. He'll fall asleep on his side and wake up rolled all the way over, or face down on his pillow.

🤓 SMILING FACE WITH GLASSES — is your oc chatty or quiet? are they at ease in social situations, or are they more shy?

Isaac doesn't like socializing, but he's pretty good at it. Part of super spy training involves getting really good at pretending to be having a good time, and Isaac is a very good super spy. He knows exactly what to say to move an interaction along as smoothly and efficiently as possible to complete the mission. But, when those interactions happen to be with people who actually know him, he comes across as pretty awkward. Generally, when he's not being Vestige, and is instead just trying to be himself, he doesn't know what to do. For him, he'd rather non-Vestige Isaac only exist to sleep, shower, read cheap pulp romance novels, and watch bad movies. Leave the smooth-talking for the job.

Carter is dyslexic but no one has figured it out yet because he just goads Kira into reading everything for him.

Pickle is terrified of having bugs touching him. Despite this, he still eagerly tries to catch grasshoppers and stuff with his bare hands. Predictably, he immediately freaks out when they touch his skin.

carter and entropy

- prior to moving to red dog, carter had never met any of leana's biological children. they're all sort of scattered to the four winds. entropy is one of the youngest, along with bartholomew. (i'm still debating on whether to have bartholomew still live with leana and reginald, so he can be in blackwood school. but i haven't decided yet.)

- i think at first carter was apprehensive about meeting entropy because they were afraid entropy wouldn't like them, but entropy is happy to have a sister her own age to hang out with.

- entropy came to red dog to study the weird energy in hell's gate, and ended up just staying bc liked the vibes.

- when carter's twin sister is revealed to be living in red dog i think entropy is bummed out at first bc she figures carter won't want to spend time with her as much, but carter still makes time to hang out and ask about her research.

INTRODUCTION

hello! my name is erin (he/they) and i'm a 23 year old neurodivergent and queer writer. i've been floating around tumblr for years now, but after a lengthy hiatus, i felt the urge to return once more. ever the occasional writer, snippets of my writing will remain elusive for now, though i'm not one to turn down an opportunity to ramble about my worlds and ocs.

alrighty, as promised, a little last writemas surprise for you all! - a little letter that i hope you'll read <3

dear writers,

when i first started this game, i had a dream, a dream of helping to inspire someone, i didn't know who, nor did i know just how many people would be impacted by this game - and 24 days on, the sheer amount of engagement has blown me away!

it has been a pleasure to witness your stories and your characters grow, to read the longest of adventures to the little glimpses into the wonderful worlds that reside in your heads - writing, for me at least, has always been a pleasure and a joy, and it's gotten me through some pretty difficult times, it's also made me appreciate more things too - and i cannot put into words how much it has meant for so many of you to have played along with a few little prompts i put together at the end of a day, and to share my holiday season with you all (even in such a small way!), and of course, help people writing - a feat i hold very dear to my heart (even if i've been unexpectedly busier this holiday season and not done as much writing as i would have liked - but hey, creating prompts counts, right?)

now, to end this letter, i would like to say a great and eternal thank you to every writer out there, from the bottom of my heart, whether you've participated this season or not, whether you've written tons or a few pages over this holiday, i want you all to know that you're doing amazing work, and i've enjoyed writemas far more than i ever thought i would!

Gaelin Aestra is the High Priestess of Zenier, the Nae'lia's chosen and ordained to be her voice on the mortal plane. Gaelin was selected by one of the tammers of the moon mother the when she was a babe. Taken from her mother and handed over to the High Temple to be raised under the Nae'lia's watchful eye. Her whole life dedicated to serve and uphold the holy word of her divine mother. After the cause of many scandals and mishaps during the end her predecessor's life, Gaelin opted to drink the Maiden's Milk during her instatement and render herself barren; appeasing her country and Nae'lia.

I’ve always seen it as supernatural dealing more with matters of the soul, the afterlife, etc that are beyond human understanding whereas paranormal is just that — adjacent to normal. This is oversimplified for brevity’s (and spoons) sake, but that’s it for me! The two tend to be used interchangeably though, and I prefer using “paranormal” for my romances despite incorporating elements of both.

What, in your opinion, is the difference between paranormal fiction and supernatural fiction and which genre do you prefer?

Rizeth lay there in the gathering dark as Ashenivir drifted into reverie, listening to his slow, steady breath. Lucky. That was what he kept thinking; how incredibly lucky had he gotten, for this to be his life now? He settled a hand on Ashenivir’s hip, and his heart clenched as Ashenivir shifted unconsciously towards the touch, mumbling some wordless nonsense that nevertheless held a world of affection. Rizeth wanted to tighten his grip. To dig his hands in tight so Ashenivir wouldn’t be able to leave. He’d ruined one relationship, and the idea of ruining another—ruining Ashenivir—terrified him beyond reason. Things right now were good, impossibly so; the kind of good he’d never dreamed he’d be allowed anywhere near ever again

Here's a scene between Charles and Peter I wrote recently. Bear in mind this is a very rough draft; I'm just happy to have written this much lately.

Despite all the muscles in his body protesting his each and every movement, Charles sat up and started working his way out from underneath the blankets, only stopping when a new wave of nausea came upon him. He shut his eyes to refrain from vomiting so early in the morning, but the world just kept on spinning. As if his chronic pain wasn’t already bad enough to contend with on a daily basis, here was yet another thing added to the fray. His hand flexed as he tried to focus in on his breathing. Each deep inhale helped to steady him bit by bit, but it was slow going.

“You don’t have to go.”

He opened his eyes to find his husband sat down before him at the edge of the bed. He had that look of concern etched into his features he always had when Charles’ pain was to the point that it made its presence known to more than just himself. It still veered a little too close to pity for his comfort, but it was getting better. At least Peter’s look was nowhere near as bad as the ones his parents consistently wore around him.

“I promised the kids I’d be there.”

“And they’ll understand if you’re unable to make it,” Peter reassured as both his hands clasped one of his. Charles hadn’t realized he was balling it into a white-knuckled fist until he felt Peter’s fingers gently work to loosen his grip.

Charles sighed deeply. “Your brother’s going to be there. Someone has to keep you out of trouble.”

It was his husband’s turn to sigh at that, though the slightest hint of a knowing smile tugged at one side of his mouth for a brief moment. Charles was right and he couldn’t deny that; even with him there, it was difficult for Peter to keep his cool at family gatherings where his brother was also in attendance. And his husband’s frustration, while justified, did nothing to help smooth anything out between them.

“Are you sure you want to do this?”

Taking a deep breath in, he gave the barest of nods.

[Jon] spared the two a brief quizzical glance, but dared not to utter a single word before ducking out.

The tent canvas swayed in the wake of his departure, designating them as the final residents left within, and yet neither of them made a move. His lips parted, though not a sound came out, for his brain struggled to piece together the words needed to voice the thousands of questions that came rushing to mind. Theodore was no stranger to silences, but this one weighed heavy in the air as each took in the appearance of the other.

Kieren had changed somewhat since the last time they'd spoken. His hair was disheveled, and the months spent away marked the shadow of a beard along his jawline. The bags forming under his eyes spoke of little sleep during his journey as well. But despite it all, his blue eyes still held their shine.

Theodore's heartbeat hastened as Kieren made up his mind to close the gap between them. His conscious mind barely had time to catch up with the movement before they collided. The impact nearly sent him stumbling back, but Kieren's steadying hands keep him in place as their lips reacquainted themselves.
