Here's a scene between Charles and Peter I wrote recently. Bear in mind this is a very rough draft; I'm just happy to have written this much lately.

Despite all the muscles in his body protesting his each and every movement, Charles sat up and started working his way out from underneath the blankets, only stopping when a new wave of nausea came upon him. He shut his eyes to refrain from vomiting so early in the morning, but the world just kept on spinning. As if his chronic pain wasn’t already bad enough to contend with on a daily basis, here was yet another thing added to the fray. His hand flexed as he tried to focus in on his breathing. Each deep inhale helped to steady him bit by bit, but it was slow going.

“You don’t have to go.”

He opened his eyes to find his husband sat down before him at the edge of the bed. He had that look of concern etched into his features he always had when Charles’ pain was to the point that it made its presence known to more than just himself. It still veered a little too close to pity for his comfort, but it was getting better. At least Peter’s look was nowhere near as bad as the ones his parents consistently wore around him.

“I promised the kids I’d be there.”

“And they’ll understand if you’re unable to make it,” Peter reassured as both his hands clasped one of his. Charles hadn’t realized he was balling it into a white-knuckled fist until he felt Peter’s fingers gently work to loosen his grip.

Charles sighed deeply. “Your brother’s going to be there. Someone has to keep you out of trouble.”

It was his husband’s turn to sigh at that, though the slightest hint of a knowing smile tugged at one side of his mouth for a brief moment. Charles was right and he couldn’t deny that; even with him there, it was difficult for Peter to keep his cool at family gatherings where his brother was also in attendance. And his husband’s frustration, while justified, did nothing to help smooth anything out between them.

“Are you sure you want to do this?”

Taking a deep breath in, he gave the barest of nods.

[Jon] spared the two a brief quizzical glance, but dared not to utter a single word before ducking out.

The tent canvas swayed in the wake of his departure, designating them as the final residents left within, and yet neither of them made a move. His lips parted, though not a sound came out, for his brain struggled to piece together the words needed to voice the thousands of questions that came rushing to mind. Theodore was no stranger to silences, but this one weighed heavy in the air as each took in the appearance of the other.

Kieren had changed somewhat since the last time they'd spoken. His hair was disheveled, and the months spent away marked the shadow of a beard along his jawline. The bags forming under his eyes spoke of little sleep during his journey as well. But despite it all, his blue eyes still held their shine.

Theodore's heartbeat hastened as Kieren made up his mind to close the gap between them. His conscious mind barely had time to catch up with the movement before they collided. The impact nearly sent him stumbling back, but Kieren's steadying hands keep him in place as their lips reacquainted themselves.

And now, without ANY dialogue, get ready for a gutwrenching scene where Ali and Noah are fighting. I’m putting it underneath the cut because there is a ⚠️ trigger warning for domestic violence. ⚠️ Use discretion.

In one last act of desperation, Noah started to scream. He screamed in pain, anger, sorrow, stress. He screamed a guttural scream that instinctively made Ali flinch and his gut turn. The djinn slapped a hand to Noah’s mouth to muffle the agony as Cauldwell tried pulling his head away, only briefly stopping his distressed cries to jolt out of Ali’s attempt to silence him. And in another attempt to stop the visceral screams, the genie wrapped his arms tightly around his master, and held Noah’s head to the frantic pulse in Ali’s neck.

In his fight or flight, Noah beat closed fists on Ali’s shoulder blades. Frustration, desperation, culminating sorrow bubbled out of his chest as he wailed into Ali’s neck, and onto Ali’s back. Cauldwell’s attempts at kicking were stopped by the genie’s knees pinning his legs down, and in the heat of the struggle Noah’s lenses slid off his face and clattered on the floor….the left lens cracking and the right one remaining whole.

Ali grit his teeth and bore the strikes, yet refused to let go. He held the back of Noah’s head, the face to his nape, and weathered the flagellation. Weaker and weaker the strikes rained, but the tempest would not stop the flood from Noah’s olive eyes. Anger and frustration gave way to despair, until finally Cauldwell crumbled.

Furious, hot screams turned into icy cries and frigid tears. The furious fists flexed their fingers to tightly clench the back of Ali’s collar. Noah’s arms, once trying to push away, pulled around Ali’s neck to bring him closer. The anger stinging Ali’s corneas simmered away as his face softened, washing cold sadness over his somber face.

Ali and Noah naturally slid to sit on the cool vinyl floor as the genie kept his master locked to his chest. Resting at the foot of the couch, Ali let a silent prayer parse his lips, pressing the plump skin to the top of Noah’s head as his eyebrows furrowed in deep contemplation.

a letter for writemas

alrighty, as promised, a little last writemas surprise for you all! - a little letter that i hope you'll read <3

~ ~ ~

dear writers,

when i first started this game, i had a dream, a dream of helping to inspire someone, i didn't know who, nor did i know just how many people would be impacted by this game - and 24 days on, the sheer amount of engagement has blown me away!

it has been a pleasure to witness your stories and your characters grow, to read the longest of adventures to the little glimpses into the wonderful worlds that reside in your heads - writing, for me at least, has always been a pleasure and a joy, and it's gotten me through some pretty difficult times, it's also made me appreciate more things too - and i cannot put into words how much it has meant for so many of you to have played along with a few little prompts i put together at the end of a day, and to share my holiday season with you all (even in such a small way!), and of course, help people writing - a feat i hold very dear to my heart (even if i've been unexpectedly busier this holiday season and not done as much writing as i would have liked - but hey, creating prompts counts, right?)

now, to end this letter, i would like to say a great and eternal thank you to every writer out there, from the bottom of my heart, whether you've participated this season or not, whether you've written tons or a few pages over this holiday, i want you all to know that you're doing amazing work, and i've enjoyed writemas far more than i ever thought i would!

The sound of childhood lost

His mother’s singing had always been one of Talon’s favorite sounds.

When he was younger he heard it a lot, grew up with the soothing melody of her voice.

It was beautiful, just like his mother was. Joyful. Gentle. Calming.

His mother’s singing moved everyone, always calming a younger Talon down when he cried, always making his sister Sera smile.

It even managed to soften the usually stern expression on his father’s face, tender tunes smoothing the rough edges of his guarded heart.

Talon could’ve listened to her sing for hours without getting tired of it.

And his mother sang often, back when he was younger.

She loved to do it, for it reminded her of home. Of her childhood back in a house filled with melodies, of the hours she spent making music with her siblings.

With one of them in particular.

Kieran was his mother’s favorite brother, had been ever since they were children. And Talon, too, had loved his uncle dearly. There were times where he had felt closer to him than to his own father.

It was him who introduced Talon to the violin:

Playing for him when he was but a little baby, gifting him his very own violin for his fifth birthday and teaching him some of his favorite compositions when Talon had shown a talent for handling the instrument.

He always insisted that Talon had a special gift, that he was even better than Kieran himself.

This claim had filled Talon with pride, but secretly he had always disagreed.

No one played the violin quite like his uncle did. No one made people weep, made them smile or laugh or dance with their music like him.

Like his mother’s voice, Kieran playing the violin was one of Talon’s favorite sounds.

And combined, he adored it even more.

Whenever Kieran came to visit them, him and Talon’s mother would play music. And Talon had loved it.

Together, the two made for a melody that was quite enchanting, an harmony unlike any other.

The harmony of two siblings that loved making music - and loved each other.

It was the sound of his childhood.

Until one day, the music stopped. Kieran died, sudden and unexpected.

And with the death of her beloved brother, his mother’s singing went silent.

Vietna cupped his face gently between her hands, her fingers grazing the rough stubble on his cheeks as she placed a long awaited kiss on his lips. She felt him hesitate for a brief moment before returning the gesture in kind.

Someone was shouting at him. Whoever it was, they were a great distance away, perhaps down some sort of well, their words indistinct and echoey. Lucian hoped they wouldn’t mind if he ignored them and just went to sleep right here on the ground.

“The only pretty purple boy I’ve seen is you,” Mehen said. “If he is here he hasn’t caused any disturbance for me and mine. The Empire is vast and unending,” here he touched his heart and then his forehead in a worshipful gesture, “but I’ll see what I can dig up for you. How long are you in the city for?”

“Johar.” The man let out a shriek and span around, falling from his chair and knocking his ink to the floor where it soaked into the floorboard, red turned black in the gloom. He blinked, wide-eyed, at the shadows of his room. “Wh-who’s there? I warn you, this is not a house you should—” Vren stepped into the light. Johar’s eyes went wider. “You!” “Me. Get up. I have questions.” Johar scrambled to his feet and collapsed into his chair. “Why are you asking them of me in the middle of the night? There are plenty of others who—” “Because you’re the one who has the answers I want. Indira. Where is she?” Johar’s fingers twisted in his kaftan, knuckles paling. “Zahin Zhira will slaughter me, you know I can’t—” “He’ll do worse if he learns how much you’ve been skimming.”

Leshanna lifted a handful of coins, frowning. “Some of these are ancient. Oraladhel doesn’t even mint this demonination any more—how long was that thing hiding up here?” In the legends—at least the ones that had turned into the songs Zander sung incessantly—Cidra had been gold crazy. Gem hungry. Aliyne kicked at a pile of silver, and as it scattered across the cave floor, it revealed beneath it a very dead dwarf. The pieces of them that were left had turned back to the gemstone their parents had carved them from, a deep and rosy quartz. Feeling sick, she turned away.

Everyone’s been really nice,” she says, like she’s frightened of giving the wrong answer. “In this place?” Rafe laughs. “Now I know you’re not telling the truth. Ninety percent of people in here are total assholes, including me. She’s cool though.” He throws me a wink when he says that.

I'm a little early for this one, but my December's going to be hectic, so better to do it now I think.

Her Countenance was Light (Titan Fighting Fantasy: Modern AU) - First started in 2017, and revised over 2024, this story has a lot of personal meaning and I'm glad I was able to finally publish it.

The Stitches Beneath (Titan Fighting Fantasy: Modern AU) - Nice bit of angst, and I feel like it showcases what I've learnt about using more body language in my works.

The Reconsecration of Anvil (TES Oblivion) - I liked exploring the Imperial Religions and trying to do a bit of worldbuilding that wasn't just "catholicism but make it fantasy".

Test not the Wrath of a Good Man (Starbound) - it's maybe not my strongest, but I had fun writing the fast-paced operational activities.

Random dialogues One & Two (Titan Fighting Fantasy: Modern AU) - I'm cheating with these two, I know, but they are only drabble-ish length. Because of HCwL, I've been on an Elo & Farren kick the whole year, and I just think these are exemplary of their relationship. Like that one post said - they're a bonded pair and I love them so much.

Literally doing this made me realize how much i popped off in August and then slowly lost traction in October before absolutely scraps in November and December. Here's to hoping that changes in the new year 😔

10. Chapter 1 - Zemorri

I honestly forget this is even posted oop. It's the current first chapter in POTO but I already know it's going to need heavy editing as it includes someone *cough*ivyr*cough* who has once again been scrapped from the series. At lest from what was her role. That makes it two times for her for the same reasons. Ouch.

Pretty sure my brain repressed the memory of making this. I wish it had stayed repressed because what in the actual fuck. Anyway yeah another shit post. I know it's not the last to appear in this list.

It's not my current one but it is still good. I believe my current is the same with a few addons.

5. Blog Masterpost

Old and outdated. Though I prefer the pictures I used here over the POTO themed ones. But changes are coming so I'll probably be making a new one

4. OG POTO Intro

Outdated but seeing me list Zemorri first and Sciosa second really speaks volumes about how much I favor him over the literal star of the show. POTO has an ensemble cast so while there is no actual "main character" Sciosa is the most important to the plot.

3. Failed ask meme 2.0

I think this one did better than number 7 but either way I don't want to talk about it.

Shit post from hell

I remember this was Sciosa's doing and then only for Zemorri to come around and make me have to rewrite all of what I had. What really gets me however is that it's gotten so big. Bitch is still getting 5 notes every other day. Which is fine but whenever I check my notifications for tags or comments there it is. Haunting me.
