Transmasculinity and queer sexuality in the works of Ikeda Riyoko
Tumblr media
Content Warning: Discussion of transphobia and suicide
Spoilers for Dear Brother, The Rose of Versailles, and Claudine
Ikeda Riyoko—perhaps the most famous member of the “year 24 group” that played a large part in creating the foundations of the shoujo manga genre—is often credited with laying the groundwork for depictions of queer characters in shoujo, and in particular with creating the archetype of the gender-bending heartthrob heroine, or “girl prince.” Building on earlier representations of butch or transmasculine characters in early shoujo manga such as Princess Knight, and the Takarazuka theater tradition of the otokoyaku male role actor, Ikeda’s enormously popular gender non-conforming heroes—Lady Oscar from The Rose of Versailles, Rei from Dear Brother, Julius from the Window of Orpheus, and the titular character of Claudine—helped to establish that there was a major mainstream audience excited to cheer for a hotheaded, androgynous tomboy with a heart of gold. Lady Oscar in particular has fingerprints all over the history of anime and manga, from a gender-bending cameo in Pokémon to serving as the inspiration for iconic characters like Tenjou Utena.
When I first read The Rose of Versailles last year, I expected its depictions of queer and transmasculine characters to be somewhat limited—after all, the comic was written for mainstream audiences and a mainstream publisher in the 1970s. But across Ikeda’s work, I was deeply surprised with the level of care and nuance with which Ikeda approaches transmasculine love stories. While there is obviously a lot about Ikeda’s portrayal of transmasculine characters that feels dated to modern audiences (for example, her comics often do fall back on “biological” ideas of women’s weakness and emotionality, and sometimes psychologize her character’s genders in uncomfortable ways), I was surprised by how much of these comics still hit for me today. What makes them work for me is both the extreme pathos with which Ikeda writes transmasculine character’s experiences of rejection—and, at rare moments, gender euphoria —but also the fact that her trans characters are not simply given a one-size fits all born-in-the-wrong-body narrative. Instead, they are each portrayed as unique individuals with varied personal relationships to their gender, their sexuality, and the historical context of the society they live in.

If you're so desperate for a baby you are OK with them starting out in a warzone maybe you should ask yourself why are you willing to go to that extreme instead of adopting.
People need to realise the lengths we’ll go to’: Ukraine’s surrogacy industry booms amid war
A British couple has described how they met their twins in incubators before having to move to a safe room as an air raid siren sounded Amita Chakravorty and Sham Jagpal had twins via surrogate in Ukraine
By Gabriella Jozwiak December 14, 2024
Juggling feeds and nappy changes is a learning curve for all first-time parents of twins. But when London couple Amita Chakravorty and Sham Jagpal became mum and dad to Rey and Ryo in July this year, they also had to learn to survive missile and drone attacks, as the boys were born through surrogacy in Ukraine.
“It’s been a really crazy journey,” Amita told The i Paper from the couple’s London home while the four month olds napped. “People need to realise the lengths people like us will go to have a baby.”
The couple are among thousands globally choosing the war zone as a surrogacy destination. Despite the dangers and difficulties accessing the country, Ukrainian agencies say business is booming.
Couples come from countries including Pakistan, China, Australia, Spain and Italy. Before Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, Ukraine was the third-most popular for British couples after the US and UK, according to fertility law firm NGO Law.
Since then, more than 1,000 babies have been born through BioTexCom Surrogacy agency alone, according to its legal adviser Denis Herman.
On the day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, about 200 surrogate mothers with this provider were pregnant. “Not even a month passed and we received calls to start or continue surrogacy processes,” he said.
Tumblr media
Amita Chakravorty and Sham Jagpal missed the births of their twins after they arrived early and were confronted with life in a war zone
In addition to war, demand for surrogacy services has also withstood new laws coming into force in Italy. While surrogacy is already illegal in the country, in December a new law will ban couples from having a baby abroad. Herman believes this will not stop Italian couples coming to Ukraine, even though they could face up to two years and a €1m (£832,000) fine.
Alexander Schuster, a lawyer specialising in medical reproductive rights in Italy told The i Paper he would “strongly refrain anyone from going to Ukraine [from Italy] because it’s pretty sure they will have criminal proceedings started under the new law”. However, he believed couples could avoid the sanctions by entering plea bargains if this was their first crime.
For Amita, who suffers endometriosis and adenomyosis, surrogacy was a last resort.
After a decade trying to start a family involving 15 rounds of IVF in four different European countries and three miscarriages, the couple opted for surrogacy with the Ukrainian World Centre of Baby (WCOB) agency in 2023.
“We looked at the UK, Columbia, Mexico – we did our research,” says Sham. Ukraine only accepts married heterosexual couples, or those in a civil partnership, that are medically unable to carry a pregnancy to term. At least one intended parent must be genetically connected to the child – usually the father. If an egg donor is needed, this cannot be the Ukrainian surrogate.
Ukraine was preferable for the couple because Ukrainian law recognises the intended parents as legal guardians from conception. In the UK, the surrogate mother is the child’s legal parent at birth, meaning parental rights have to be transferred by parental order or adoption.
Amita and Sham had their biological materials (embryos, sperm and eggs) already frozen at a clinic in Czechia. WCOB transported these to Ukraine, meaning the couple only had to make one trip to collect their babies.
“We were clearly apprehensive because the country was at war,” said Sham. “But the clinic said everything is functioning normally in Kyiv. It was perfectly open for us to continue with the process.”
Tumblr media
The babies are now four months old and back in the UK
Costs in Ukraine are also markedly lower than other countries. Helen Shumskyh, head of sales at Vireo Agency in Ukraine, said that the cost of surrogacy in Ukraine was between £33,000 and £54,000 for a package, including transport to the country, accommodation, surrogate expenses and agency fees.
In the US costs range from £103,000 to £276,000. In the UK surrogacy is legal, but surrogates cannot be paid, and surrogacy agreements are not enforceable by law.
“The price in Ukraine now is almost the same as it was before the war started,” Shumskyh said. “Usually in surrogacy there is a yearly evaluation of the prices, but no one has increased rates here because we all understand that in our current situation we need to attract customers. After the war finishes, we expect prices to change.”
The agency currently has 15 couples at various stages of their surrogacy journey. Shumskyh says demand increases every month. The company has sought to reassure prospective parents by relocating surrogate mothers to Western cities of Lviv and Ushgorod once they reach 28 weeks of pregnancy. These are far away from the front line and experience fewer attacks. Although surrogates can live in higher-risk eastern regions until then.
Ukrainian surrogate mothers are aged up to 35 and must have already given birth naturally to a healthy child. They receive between £11,700 and £14,200 per pregnancy. Nova Espero agency deputy director Sergey Glushenko said surrogate mothers were “normal, wealthy women” who wanted to help others, as well as make money.
“In 90 per cent of cases the surrogate wants to improve their living conditions, such as buy a new apartment,” Glushenko said. Despite worsening economic conditions in Ukraine, he said the number of women applying to become surrogates had not increased.
Amita and Sham never met their surrogate mother. They missed the birth as the twins arrived unexpectedly almost six weeks prematurely. Because flights to Ukraine are banned, the couple travelled to Poland then by car to Ukraine’s capital Kyiv.
“We were stepping into the unknown,” says Amita. “We passed so many graveyards on the way. It became real that so many people have died.”
Finally the couple met their twins, who were both in incubators. “There are no words to describe the feelings when you see your babies,” Amita recalls. But quickly they were brought back to reality when an air raid sounded and hospital staff moved the babies to a safe room. It was the first of numerous such experiences.
The couple spent many sleepless nights sheltering in their AirBnB bathroom when sirens sounded. On more than one occasion they saw explosions in the sky as air defences shot down enemy drones above them.
On 26 August they took cover in an underground station as Russia attacked Ukraine with 200 missiles and drones, knocking out the power supply. “When we came out, everywhere you could smell chemicals or gunpowder,” said Amita. “At the flat we had no electricity and couldn’t sterilise bottles for the babies’ feeds.”
The couple expected to spend six weeks in Kyiv waiting for passports to be issued. In the end, legal delays left the family stranded for more than two months. Despite this, the couple said they “wouldn’t change a thing”. But recommend others consider Ukraine carefully, as the paperwork took them longer than anticipated.
Since bringing their boys home, Amita and Sham have kept in close contact with friends they made in Ukraine. “They were generous, kind,” said Sham. “It was a kind of warmth you don’t see in the world anymore.”
Amita has not deactivated the air raid alerts on her phone. She believes people in the UK are unaware of the danger the war poses. “This is real,” she said. “Don’t think that war is not going to come here.”
Yes I have empathy for a woman who wpuld go through 15 rounds of IVF in four different European countries and three miscarriages, but at some point the someone in the industry should have stopped taking money and suggested adoption.
And was it a coincidence that they had boys or was the frozen material they sent to Ukraine sex screened beforehand?

rei's personal background
2000.12.31 ->
Takashima Reiko or Kim Rina, born 2000.12.3, into a world of hardships, faced immense challenges from the outset. Born in sanya, tokyo, to her impoverished single mother, who'd, sadly, lacked the resources and emotional capacity to care for her. Rei's early years were marked by neglect and abandonment. However, her life took an turn when she was put up for adoption at the early age of two. Rei's adoption was the turning point in her life, providing her with an opportunity to overcome the difficulties she faced in her early years. She was fortunate enough to be placed in a loving and supportive family who recognized her potential and nurtured her talents. This stable environment allowed her to grow and thrive, despite the hardships she had endured.
pre-debut ->
Growing up in a household with access to internet, she was exposed to various musical genres and languages, which influenced her artistic inclinations. Reiko's family recognized her talent from a young age, providing her with the necessary support to pursue her dreams. Her parents enrolled her in vocal and dance lessons, sharpening her skills and fueling her determination to succeed in the extremely competitive entertainment industry.
At the age of 10, she'd caught the attention of talent scouts from SM Entertainment, one of South Korea's most prestigious entertainment agencies. during the 2011 global auditions. The opportunity to train under SM Entertainment was undoubtedly exciting for Reiko, who saw it as a way to achieving her dreams. She relocated to Seoul, leaving behind her family and friends, to intense training along with other artist. Having joined the agency at such a young age, the training was challenging, and she sadly had to leave the entertainment, and move back home , a result of the hard training on her at just age 13.
About a year later, when Reiko had joined Pledis Entertainment, she faced the challenge of adapting to a new environment and settling herself among a different group of individuals. However, her talent and quickly caught the attention of fellow trainees and staff members. This can be acredit to her previous experience at SM Entertainment, which provided her with a foundation.
debut->
Reiko's journey within Seventeen began with her first meeting with the members at the young age of 14. Though she was shy at first, her attitude allowed her to blend into the group despite being the only female member.
Now that we've peaked into rei's personal background, it's hopeful that you have an understanding of her.

Willow Jean “Billie Jean” Miller was born to Joel Miller on October 26th, 1995, in Austin, Texas. Due to severe hemorrhaging, her mother Marina had died at childbirth which left a young Joel struggling between taking care of his two daughters and working a job that hardly kept food on the table. Lending a helping hand, Joel’s brother Tommy helped raised his younger daughter Billie Jean and because of this, she believed Tommy was her father while Joel and Sarah were her uncle and cousin.
On September 26th, 2003, Billie Jean spent most of the day with Sarah while Joel and Tommy were out on their job. Around midnight, panic and chaos ensued as the outbreak of the Cordyceps brain infection hit; amongst the horror Sarah had lost her life which mentally wrecked Joel and left Billie Jean was scarred emotionally.
During the early years of the post apocalyptic world, Billie Jean became a hardened survivor that was taught how to kill and deceive under the training of Joel while Tommy constantly tried to remind her that there much more to their lives than just surviving. With their opinionated ways of how to raise Billie Jean, it ultimately sparked a feud between the two brothers which caused Tommy to take the girl under his care.
While staying with the Fireflies, Billie Jean grew adventurous and extremely curious of many things which gave her the confidence to ask Tommy why they left Joel and what was the real reason. After their own argument, and relentless demanding, Tommy told her the truth that Joel was, in deed, her real father. Feeling betrayed, Billie Jean left Tommy and the Fireflies alone.
In the present day, Billie Jean had formed her own group known as the Scavengers which consists of three women, seven men, one child, and her pet Dalmatian. They loot old cars and buildings, living in wooden areas where infected don’t reside, and craft their own weapons and supplies from scraps of metal and debris, duct tape and fabric.
When she hears the news about a smuggler transporting a young girl to the Fireflies from Boston, Billie Jean gathers up her backpack and begins to track down her father to reconnect.

Hair color: brown Eye Color: brown Height: 5’6 Weight: 124 lbs
Tumblr media
When she was 12, she developed an eating disorder, due to bullying that occurred from school. Despite being a perfect weight for her age, people called her names (fat, ugly) so she stopped eating almost completely. It got to an extreme, when she was 15 and barely weighed 71 pounds.
For her 16th birthday, her family took her to a nearby WWE Smackdown show, where she was able to meet some of her favorites (Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, Beth Phoenix). The one that stood out the most to her, that took time to really talk to her, was Kofi Kingston. Just seeing how thin she was worried Kofi, and he made a deal with her—Get to a healthy weight, and when she becomes a star, he’ll team with her and they’ll win the (to be created) intergender tag team championships.
Emery was filled with emotions after their talk, and while it took quite some time, she eventually got to a healthy weight and even began getting some muscle mass.
Favorite Wrestlers growing up: Jeff Hardy, John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Lita
Debuts in Wrestling: October 2013 – Ring of Honor March 2015 – New Japan Pro Wrestling Officially joined Bullet Club in June 2015 May 2019 – All Elite Wrestling
Wrestling Style: Arial, slight risk taker (look at who her favorites were, after all)

Matt and Nick: They met her early in her career and took her in under their wings, helping to train her when they were in the area. They're rather protective over her, love to tease her on occasion, and they wouldn't trade her for the world.
Who would she like to meet in the Business? Finn Balor Damian Priest Pete Dunne (birthday twins~ ) Imperium (4 members, Walter, Fabian, Marcel and Thatcher) Seth Rollins
First Crush: Jeff Hardy
Hobbies: Playing Video Games, photography, travel and drawing
If she couldn’t wrestle anymore she would: Either just be a streamer or become a professional artist/start own business
Secret of hers: She mayyyy, (or may not 😒 ) have a thing for older guys. 8-13 years older than her.
Languages known: Japanese (10%) Italian (78%) English Spanish (9%) French (24%)
Phobias: Snakes, drowning
Number of Tattoos: 5
Number of Piercings: 2 (normal ear ones – though during her Bullet Club Dark Angel days, she did consider getting a lip and tongue piercing)
Any History of broken bones? When she was 6, she fractured a bone in her arm. Luckily, it didn’t require surgery.
Any injuries from wrestling? In early 2014, after starting in ROH, she got knocked off a ladder and landed awkwardly. No concussions or breaks/fractures, but she sprained her ankle. Mid 2014, she was on the receiving end of a face-plant type maneuver and her nose got broken. They were able to reset it and it healed fine.
Behind the Story of ‘Dark Angel’ persona For the beginning of her career, Emery was a baby face. She didn’t want to be booed; she didn’t want to be a ‘bad guy’. She liked being a baby face. A lot of people suggested she try though, to see if she liked it or not, and if not then it could always be switched back.
She wasn’t convinced though.
When she made the trip to Japan, it was only meant to be temporary, for a few months at most. She got to hang out with her ROH friends like the Bucks—who in turn, introduced her to Kenny.
That was the moment all plans went out the window. The two of them hit it off and became almost inseparable. Gaming, arcades, cat cafes—they bonded over everything it seemed like. She got a good look at his Heel persona, the Cleaner, and wondered… perhaps it wouldn’t be too terrible?
With a little nudge from Kenny and some artistic input, they worked together in just mere months to create the Dark Angel version. Short blue hair, almost all black, punk-style clothing, and a badass attitude At first, she only wore more moderate clothing. Things that covered her-- issues stemming from her weight issues as a teen. However, after many conversations with not only Kenny, but Jay, Ibushi, Matt, Nick, and both Adams, she risked it all and wore slightly more revealing clothing, short shorts, skirts and cut-off shirts. And she began to love her body.
She’d cost people matches, interfere, attack people – even people twice her size—and she done it all with a smile and laughing maniacally.
Some people compared her to Harley Quinn or even the Joker.
Over the course of the next year, Emery got better at conniving and being devious, calculating and began to show disregard for Bullet Club enemies.
In 2017, she went with Kenny and got her first tattoo. A full-size pair of Angel wings on her back. After getting it, she no longer needed to wear the wing prop she had worn in previous years.
She figured, if she played an Angel, she might as well have wings. This is the moment that brought upon Kenny nicknaming her his ‘Angel’

give me all your svern facts NEOW !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !!
Send !! to learn about an OC
Svern (which is of course not his birth name) is a genius prodigy who was born and spent much of his childhood growing up in the Unova region. His identity as Svern and his birth identity are two severely different people and if you know him as either one or the other, you are extremely unlikely to know or connect him to the other.
Although he likes to act like a rambunctious and annoying, reckless guy, he is actually very quiet by nature. He's very analytical, cynical and smart, which is part of what makes him feel alienated from other people. The other thing that separates him is he doesn't experience the same normal emotional range as others. So he has trouble feeling things deeply, which means he's constantly bored and detached. He won't show this side of personality unless he really trusts someone. He doesn't consider his masking to be totally "fake" either, though, and if you try and suggest it/pick one as "real" and the other as "fake", he'll probably laugh at you, because that's a simplistic viewpoint.
He is not a natural redhead, he wears a wig and he changes it often, that one just happens to be his favourite and trademark look. After all, why wait for 6 months for your hair to grow out when you feel like having it long for one day when you can just Make it longer. Or change the colour twice a week. (Also his natural hair is black which in general would make dyeing it a bigger than usual pain anyway.)
Similarly, he wears coloured contacts all the time. The amber/yellow is his favourite again although he does use other colours if he feels like it. His natural eye colour is a bright turquoise.
He likes trying out a lot of different outfits, and since he's naturally very confident and doesn't really feel embarrassed about anything ever, he can summon the charisma to rock pretty much anything.
His brain is extremely big so he knows a lot about a lot of things, learns more easily, and remembers everything always. This can be good and bad (for other people, for himself it's fine and useful). But it's important to note that this is another reason he struggles with being bored all the time! His brain chews things up too quickly. He doesn't particularly value his huge talent. Again, he is apathetic about it, like about many other things. It's just the way he happens to be. He doesn't use it to be ambitious, he uses it to be a silly & annoying guy.
He likes bugs a lot, for some reason.
He also likes a lot of science stuff and technology stuff.
He's 164cm / 5'5" tall, so he's a bit on the shorter side. That and his face make him look cute and Little Guyish (I think...).
Please be careful about the Whimsy. The Whimsy often fools people. If you think he is a cute little guy, or an adoptable rascal, you have been fooled by the whimsy. He will take advantage of this.
He dabbles in crime things and he's very good at parkour. He did gymnastics in school. He did theatre as well. He was supposed to be learning violin, but he got tired of it since it wasn't his idea, so later his Ditto did his lessons in his place. She can play very well now.
He illegally modded his Porygon-Z to be able to change type and boost its stats at will, access all 3 potential abilities at once, as well as learn any move for which there exists Technical Machine data.
Without giving all the full names, his birth name is Sylvester V.E. Rey-Nellson. His parents are rich and into business. He doesn't like them very much. The only family member he likes is his paternal grandpa who I keep thinking about the possibility of being a trans man even though I don't think I'm adequately able to implement that right now. Babey Svern hit all his milestones early and everyone would have loved him very much if he wasn't a weird kid and they weren't jerks.
As an adult, he joins a criminal organisation for funsies and pretends to be mediocre, before coming into contact with a very strange rock that would take way too long to explain here. I have many thoughts on this rock which I have written meta posts about on his rp blog. Svern thinks it's very cool and on a conceptual level it is but he will unfortunately end up regretting it when it's not fun anymore later.
His favourite kind of food is spicy. The spicier, the better. If it makes him cry that's great. If he gets used to it he has to seek spicier food.
He can't cook much. He doesn't know how. He could learn very easily if he tried for even a short time but he's lazy and impatient.
So he doesn't.
If he has to do something he doesn't want to anyway, he'll complain a lot about it very loudly, and then escape when you're not looking.
Find images of him here on my Brand New, Organised Art Blog.

:V: A New Hope:
:V: A New Hope (Star Wars):
Hey there, and thank you for checking out my verses!
My Star Wars verse is primarily an independent story that's obviously influenced by the events within the canon universe. My characters are primarily alien; thus they are able to be adapted both into the prequel movies as well as the modern Rey saga movies. I primarily set the story within the Skywalker storyline but am more than happy to adapt it over. Here, you'll find the general info about each character, the antagonist, and the major story plot points which we can integrate for interactions. Enjoy the read! ❤
▪︎ The Prequels:  The Skywalker saga
( Taking place from the clone wars all the way to the fall of the Empire)

♡ The Jedi that never was: Rosie Valentine
Personality:
Once kind and painfully optimistic, Rosie is still young and has grown paranoid and jaded because of the stress of being alone as a young mother. She is distrusting and overprotective of her lone cub, a haggler that will use her influence in the force to persuade others in getting what she needs. Once her walls come down and she begins to trust you, it can be seen that she really is just a tired and scared girl. She’s grieving the father of her child who promised her safety and trying to navigate the world that wants to hunt her down. Her family among the jedi have been killed, her homeworld of Atrolize has been overtaken and used for its resources and its civilians taken hostage as slaves or breeding cattle for their versatile genetics and the abilities that come with it.. Her father, the senator, was assassinated like many others who wanted a movement for peace in order to end the war. She suffers in a void of loneliness and grief she doesn’t know how to handle while burdened with the responsibility of being a parent and teaching her cub how to survive. When relaxed, she can be affectionate and snarky like any feline, and incredibly protective of her allies. Spite her or wrong her in any way however, can result in her blatantly resorting to eating you or completely crippling you. At this point she is not averse to killing for the sake of self preservation.
She is a jedi no longer – really, she never was.
Abilities:
 Duel Saber wielding
Style: Ataru, Shien/Djem so, and Jar’kaiSlowed aging
Force healing /Draining (Able to heal others or herself, usually in extreme cases by stealing the lifeforce of another if she lacks the energy herself)
Animal Bond
Force push/Pull (Rosie is able to take on much larger weight using the force than she would by her raw physical strength alone. Under enough stress, she would be able to hold down an escaping ship for a period of time or hold up the weight of crumbling infrastructure on top of her just long enough for people to escape)
Force Scream (an involuntary attack when she has become enraged and overwhelmed, it normally comes in the shape of an outburst of grief or panic while trying to protect someone else. The use of it can burn her out as its not measured in the power she puts behind it)
Kinetite (Force lighting, instead of uncontrolled streams of lighting , it is concentrated into a solid ball of energy which can be thrown, then expels the energy upon impact with a surface. Can be deflected back with the use of defensive force abilities)
Lesser Force Destruction (a weaker variation under the same concept, Rosie is able to concentrate a mass amount of energy within herself and then expell it in an anergized wave strong enough to send people flying, but it cannot burn anyone the way a true sith could)
History:
Rosie is of a race of anthropomorphic animal beings known as Atrolians.  Born in 46 BBY, Her father was a senator that represented her people, this was her initial meeting with the jedi order. Vassago, an ancient jedi master  in league with Yoda (hailing from a naturally force inclined race known as seraphim),  is good friends with Senator Roland, and sees the force potential early within his young daughter. Because of the growing unrest behind the scenes of politics and world affairs, coupled with the fear of what his emotional daughter could do with her untrained abilities, Roland deems his 8 year old daughter would be  safer in the hands of the jedi and his oldest friend. Rosie is then recruited into training as a youngling, to eventually become a padawan under vassago – despite the council’s concerns regarding Rosie's unnaturally strong pull between the light and dark with her emotional ties.
As a padawan, Rosie specialized in duel wielding sabers which could be connected at the hilt to form a double ended saber. Her fighting form specialized in utilizing her inherent animalistic abilities of her species, thus she is most efficient in Ataru, Shien/Djem So, and Jar’kai with her duel sabers. Being a big cat creature possessing strong legs and a prehensile tail, Rosie equally utilizes her natural physical attributes in battle against enemies as well. Her tail allows her to wrangle the limbs of her opponent to throw them off balance, while her thick claws on her feet and hands could easily tear through skin and leathery armor with ease. Being a feline makes her incredibly agile, which makes her throw her weight around and bounce off surfaces to confuse her enemies.
Despite her efficiency in close combat, her control on the force was not up to par. She was easily overwhelmed by heavy negative emotions when she became frustrated or distraught, which could often trigger a suffocating outburst that hurt allies and foes alike. Accidents led to a fear of using the force, to which vassago gently coaxed and encouraged her to let emotions flow. Unfortunately, the state of the galaxy escalating into the clone wars did little to help her case. Because of her instability, despite her age, Rosie remained a padawan under Vassago well into the clone wars. Her eventual salvation by chance came in the shape of the enemy, a bounty hunting mandalorian they crossed paths with while providing aid on a planet holding back pirates and droids. Rocky, the mandalorian, sought after the young padawan he felt an impulsive attachment to in an attempt to befriend her. Going so far as to remove his helmet and meet her in secret. Rocky, a seraphim like her master, promised her safety and encouraged her to escape this war that was not her own to fight.  She was too young to be burdened with the responsibility of a peace keeper for a galaxy that doesn’t seem to want peace. She deserved better. The mando’s promises struck her in the place of longing, and she agreed to go with him. With the support of her master, she abandoned the jedi order to escape with the Mandalorian and his brother in arms… Which saved her when Order 66 was executed only weeks later.
Grief stricken by the crippling sensation of death and pain that overtook her, it traumatized her, however there was no way of returning home.
Traveling with Rocky, Guts, and their third brother Erron, Rocky taught her the essential survival skills in utilizing her force abilities, being able to scrap and rebuild, and fight the street way if she wanted to survive. All was well for months until she wound of pregnant;
The breaking point of the brothers. Erron, feeling Rosie had imposed herself into their lives and his brothers in arms took her wellbeing as more sacred than their own, broke off without a word. Much to the grief of Rocky and Guts.
Months later, Mia is eventually born on the ship and cared for deeply between the three of them. Deeming it unsafe to lugg around an infant on mercenary missions, Rosie and Mia were left on a safe base established on a thick forest planet that would keep them well hidden from the empire even if they had come looking. Mia was 2 years old when her uncle Guts and Father went on a recon mission, but her father had not returned home. Without Rocky, Rosie had no choice but to strike out on her own, unwilling to burden Guts with the needs of herself and her daughter when she felt responsible for tearing the brothers apart to begin with. At the time, her master had been killed in order 66, but Vassago’s strong connection both to the force and his padawan allowed him to linger to her and continue her training in truly mastering the force from both the light and the dark side

♡ The Cub: Mia Blagrove
Personality:
Happy-go-lucky, optimistic, mischievous, likes shiny things, loves being groomed and fitting into tight spaces she doesn't belong. She likes talking and hunting small animals. Not the biggest fan of training but she knows she has to if she wants to be strong like her mom.Abilities:Force Persuasion Animal Bonding Force Push/pull A crossbreed between a Seraphim and an Atrolian, Mia is predominantly feline while bearing the body feathers of the seraphim like her father. A combination of two highly force sensitive beings means Mia has a powerful predisposition to use the force – fortunately, unlike her mother, she is more inclined to positive happy emotions and uses her abilities for harmless antics. Mia, like the kitten she is,  often gets herself in trouble by going into places she is not supposed to. Including baggage and cargo bays or pulling off wall panels and crawling into the cozy space among wiring. Her need to make friends means she perfected her art of force persuasion to get what she wants or to at least make people stay and talk to her. She is a fearless little warrior in the making with a weakness for salty meat, sweets, or shiny things. She is naive and her mother often keeps her only a tail length away with their tails knotted together.

♡ A Mando far from home:
Rocky Blagrove
Personality:
Sensible, patient, charismatic and a natural born leader. He’s fairly easy going and hides his emotional pain well under the guise of being laid back. Rocky is the understanding friend despite the cold streak he can turn into when on the job. He doesn't hesitate to kill, but he does have a moral standing about killing innocent civilians or children. He runs by the rule that if you raise your arm first it's a death sentence. His most notable quality is the smile gun : if you're upset, he shoots up a finger gun and compels you to smile. His own smile, if you saw his face, is infectious. Its a real shame he stopped taking off his helmet
Abilities:
Flight (wings)
Plasma resistance (his feathers and wings, at least in terms of his outer feathers, are resistant to the super heat of a plasma blast and have some durability against low caliber bullets. Beskar makes up for the weaknesses)
Air Manipulation (utilizing the force to manipulate the air around his wings provides extra propulsion needed to shoot through the air beyond simple takeoff and gliding)
Deadly marksman
Blade specialist
Adept close range combat
History:
Born 56 BBY, The prodigy child of his family clan, Rocky would meet his future brother in arms, Erron, after the boy was found and taken in with the other mandalorian children in training. Naturally talented with the force, he hails from a species of winged aliens known as Seraphim, who utilize the force to manipulate the air around their bodies and wings to make them superior fliers and fighters even in the air. By extension, they have an affinity for animals, but they excel most as warriors.
Trained since he was a child and expected to become the next clan head, Rocky's flaw was own dislike of the burden of responsibility– he played the part until he was 17, old enough to break off on his own with all he had learned from his guild. Taking with him an adoptee he's call his brother, Erron. Together the two of them made a name for themselves as Skeiron and Big mouth in the Galaxy as elite bounty hunters, with Guts (a mandalorian of a separate guild who has also broken off on his own) joined their brotherhood as the armorer and weapons master. All was well for the three men, up until Rocky took a fondness for a jedi padawan in the middle of the clone wars.
His action to take Rosie away from the battle and teach her among his brother causes a severe rift, primarily with Erron who envied the attention Rosie received from his brother and despised her for being a jedi, until Erron finally completely abandoned their little guild without a word upon Rosie's pregnancy announcement. Heartbroken, but responsible for paying a new life for his future child, Rocky keeps it together with the help of Guts. Rocky never believed in the by the book formality of traditional mandalorian traditions, especially in regards to showing his face or the requirement to force a child or partner into the life of a mando by extension of being with them. He holds true to the honor system of battle, but that is about the limit to what he follows
▪︎ His "Death"
3 years following the end of the clone wars and the rise of the empire, Rocky and Guts follow a bounty hunt that unknowingly leads them into a crossfire between imperial clones and a group of fallen jedi taking refuge among civilians that are caught in the crossfire. Rocky, with his ultimate undoing being his morally obligated heart, abandoned the bounty hunt to aid in the civilians evacuation and the hopeless jedi. The decision, without Guts to help him, fatally injured Rocky as the masses overwhelmed even a sharpshooter like himself, but provided a good enough distraction to allow the imperial targets to escape. Bleeding out, Rocky was saved only because of the Jedi who were able to heal his condition to a manageable state, however he required nurturing and augmentation provided by the civilians.
Unable to find his brother, only his blasted helmet and scraps of broken armor in a puddle of blood, Guts can only assume the worst fate for his brother and returns to give Rosie the bad news.
Rocky remains in the care of locals for nearly a year, unable to contact his brother or his family with his communicators damaged from the battle. He lost an eye, a leg, an arm and a few fingers that have all been replaced by beskar steel recycled from his previously damaged mandalorian armor. When he was finally strong enough to move on his own, Rocky returns to the safe base he and his brothers established for their family, only to find it raided and burned down. With no other evidence to point to life, Rocky relives the second devastating blow to his heart and completely hides in his armor to separate himself from the world. Unable to really live and unwilling to die, he takes to never removing his helmet or armor and joins the rebels against the empire to avenge the death of his family
Rocky specializes in training of new recruits, but primarily scouts out Intel and useful allies to recruit. He has lost any hope of finding his brothers in this endless galaxy, though he hopes to hear circulating rumors at the very least. He's melancholic but without seeing his voice, his charismatic confidence is infectious.
♡ The Lone Wolf Survivor:
Guts
Personality:
Introverted, painfully loyal to a fault, self sacrificing , but a brutal mercenary when it comes to battle. Guts does what he must to get the job done but he has an inherent soft spot for women and children, especially those caught in the middle of the galactic mess. Guts usually keeps to himself, not usually one who starts the conversation but maintains it by only keeping up with vital information. For all his gruffness, Guts is very well capable of being compassionate and gentle despite what may be perceived as stoicism when hes hidden behind his helmet. Above all else he honors his brother's memory by taking care of his niece and Rosie. Nothing matters more to him than family
Abilities:
Weapons specialist
Armorer and Engineer
Sharpshooter, beskar sword wielder
Loth wolf shifting
Heightened sense of smell, hearing, taste, and eyesight
Superior strength to his build
History:
He was born within a prestigious mandalorian clan, one of the last bastions of loth wolf shifters long believed to have died off. His father is the clan head.
Like most children of mandalore, his childhood was one of harsh instruction and training from the moment he was capable of walking and wielding a weapon. As the only son of the Clan head and the future heir, he was treated with excessive cruelty from his father to assure his son would surpass all other children within his rank and older. To be the best warrior the clan had ever produced to take his father’s place.
Guts, then named Vessten, excelled beyond expectation with a talent for not only combat, but the engineering of weapons and armor as well. It was in his adolescence that his mother Diandra, the clan armorer born within the clan just as his father had been, refused to see her boy destroyed any further by  his father and escaped the clan with her son.
Guts, always loyal to his mother far more than his father, continued his training and honing his skills as taught to him by his mother. Excelling in the realm of bounty hunting, earning the title of Black hound, he would eventually go off on his own and form his own small guild with his future brother in arms, Rocky(Skeiron) and Erron(Big Mouth).
Guts had served in the same role as his mother before him, as the group's armor and weapons specialist on top of serving as a heavy artillery warrior. Interpersonally, Guts was a constant voice of reason and logic in comparison to Rocky’s laid back nature and Erron’s impulsive arrogance. He is haunted by a level of guilt for his inability to pick a side when tension formed upon Rosie’s addition to the group. When Erron left, He did attempt to find him for a short while, until he decided Rocky and Rosie needed him more. When Erron was ready to show himself, he would do so
Upon Rocky's death, Guts vowed an oath of protection to Rosie and her cub in honor of his brother, with an underlying love he secretly held for a woman he could never have. Guts regularly travels the cosmos on bounty detail and returns to bring a wage back for Rosie and Mia, wherever they may be hiding at the time.
Guts deals with heavily bottled emotions and guilt ; He struggles heavily in showing emotions and using the right words to show support and comfort. Oftentimes he is more of a man of action to show his care, which gives way for him to meet many people in his travels
The Antagonist:
♡ The Tyrant Warrior: Balrog
The father of Guts and the leather of the loth wolf guild, Balrog is a scourge to some and a messiah to all those his guild has recruited and empowered from the poverty left behind by war. The guild has grown in number and power that proves to be a nuisance for even the empire and the first order, well known for their cruelty to their enemies and the iron fisted hold they have on shipping lanes and planetary trading posts. Nobody passes through territory without payment in goods or useful information – all those who don’t comply are typically met with a grizzly fate of fire, dismemberment, cannibalization,  and heads showcased on pikes to mark off territory points.
Temperament wise, Balrog is cool and collected, proud and confident in his skill that very little phases him. His inner circle is composed solely of loth wolf shifters to preserve their heritage, but all other clan members are treated with the same kind of brother and sister in arms love. Among his clan, Balrog takes no excuses, but he is compassionate and kind to his kinsmen. He sees to it that his people are taken care of across the galaxy, and offers a hand to those suffering to empower themselves by joining his league (if he sees potential strength that could be utilized by the clan).
Outside of the clan, Balrog is a bloodthirsty creature of malice to anyone deemed an enemy. He does not take shit from any group, and is quick to make exampled of them for all others to not make the same mistake. With Loth wolf’s inherent skill and connection to the force, it makes him an exceptionally formidable enemy with the combination of combat skill , lethal weaponry, and dark force abilities to aid him.
The betrayal of his late wife and son prove to be a sore point from him ; He is still determined to find the traitors and reprimand them – but most importantly, to keep them where they belong.
Tumblr media
♡ The Wolf in sheep's clothing: John Shaw
A shady lothwolf shifter that had no place in the clan, John (preferring to go by “Shaw”) simply goes with the winning side that offers him the best deals in terms of lifestyle and payment. He has no loyalty, but his sociopathic specialty of masking makes him surprisingly charismatic and ideal for negotiation and spy work. This charismatic nature hides his underlying sadistic pleasure in the suffering of others and his narcissism.
On the surface, John goes where the money goes and he likes the little pleasures he can gain from the galaxy’s suffering. You usually find him in the slimy city underbellies from planet to planet, gambling and swindeling crooks out of their wealth and drowning in the warmth of a sex worker.. Or whatever poor thing he can rob, rip, and dip. Having force abilities does help a lot in the persuasion aspect..
After all, who’s gonna fuck with a giant dog man?
♡ The Imperial Daughter:
Pandora
A Child born within the empire’s rule, she is the product of an admiral’s lust with an atrolain slave that was later harvested and indoctrinated into the empire, as is often the fate of many like herself. An incredibly intelligent tactician with a skill for language, combat, and negotiation, Pandora rose through the ranks quickly from her growing youth. With a controlled, nearly emotionless deposition, it made her a favorable cadet among the high ranking officers for a woman who would not argue, yet one who shined in times of urgency and combat.
Currently serving as a vice admirable on board a ship primarily staffed by many of  her halfblood brethren,  her ultimate goal is to take a shot at the rebllion and mandalorian brigade that proves to be a thorn in the empire’s side.  Show the empire just what atrolians can be beyond simple body guards or sex slaves.
Appearance wise, Pandora is an albino that stands at about 6’3, bearing subtle canine features in her large pointed ears, eyes, claws, teeth, and a thin layer of white fur that covers her body. She had a tail as a child that was hacked off in training , deemed as liability in combat. An event which she resents, and continues to be reminded of from  the tail nub that was left behind.
PLOT POINTS TO EXPLORE:
Pre order-66 where Rosie is a padawan training with other younglings or taking part in the clone wars
Rosie is traveling the galaxy in a desperate attempt to avoid the inquisitor's tracking and the empire's tyranny with her adolescent/toddler  force-sensitive daughter.  For her species, Rosie is the equivalent of a late teen/early 20 year old mom learning to survive entirely on her own. She takes up mercenary/Bounty hunting work on the neutral planets she makes her temporary home on, which could lead to crossing paths with your muse either as the target, the client, or perhaps a rival hunter
Rosie herself is still a powerful force user, even if she was not promoted to the rank of  a Jedi. That being said: she is adept in lightsaber fighting forms, she knows how to find and make a lightsaber, the use of the force for both practical and impractical reasons, and she still possess  her former jedi master in the shape of a force ghost who continues to train her in using both aspects of the light and dark side of the force. With the Jedi order destroyed, despite her negative feelings for the order, padawan and surviving jedi were still family to her. She is capable of teaching another muse survival skills , fighting skills, or how to hone their connection to the force
Mia, her daughter, is fearless and will attempt to make friends with anyone because her mother keeps her hoarded up and suffocates her with worry and overprotectiveness. Downside is Mia tries to make friends usually by harassing someone with questions, or by taking something shiny and making them chase her for it. She is still a kitten at the end of the day and possess kitten mannerisms that do get her in trouble. Your muse could be a victim of her antics or have a secret friendship with her while her mother is often out trying to hunt. Maybe your muse is a neighbor or an ally that occasionally comes by to help Rosie get a break, or maybe you just really think this kitten is cute
Please teach Rosie it is okay to learn to be her own person. She is more than just a mother, there is more to life than just fighting and worrying about tomorrow.
Rosie strains in the heavy pull of the dark and light sides of the force as her emotions rule her abilities just as much as they fuel her. Her love for her daughter serves as her light, but when she is in danger or her limits are tested, Rosie is capable of great destruction and misuse of her abilities for selfish personal gains.
The current state of Rosie’s homeworld Atrolize has been degraded under the rule of the empire, their species subdued to slave labor and breeding cattle because of the species genetic compatibility with any humanoid species in the universe. Anyone who becomes handicap or fails to pay their debts becomes sold off as a slave – which can mean hard labor, the life of a concubine/prostitute , or an exotic pet to trade among the wealthy. When Rosie is seen in the streets on more criminally inclined planets, its not uncommon for someone to ask a price to buy her off or buy her time. Lets see how your muse feels about that
Rocky “died” after taking heavy hits from clones while trying to help civilians and jedi escape. He was on death’s door but was saved by the jedi, ultimately.  I wouldn’t mind a scenario of a muse being one of those that nursed him back to health. Be it a jedi, padawan, or a native civilian
After assuming his family was murdered by the empire, Rocky took fully embrace the Traditional mandalorian code he had long ago abandoned in his time of mourning. He never takes off his helmet, and has taken fully to aiding rebels in unraveling the empire one step at a time. Rocky often trains the newest rebels in close and ranged combat, leads recon missions or targets possible allies, and takes bounty jobs on the side to pay for the maintenance of his own weapons and armor.
Guts was a brother in arms to Rocky who bears the burden of feeling responsible for his brother’s death. In honor of his brother’s memory, he still returns to check on Rosie and Mia to bring supplies and credits to help them. Bearing an unrequited love for Rosie, he struggles with these emotions and the burden of his own bloodline as a lothwolf shifter. Given that his father Balrog is determined to bring him home, he desperately avoids his destiny by throwing himself in danger. A fellow mando companion or a friend in general to provide him someone to talk to about his struggles would be nice. Though, obviously, being seen with him is a dangerous game as your muse may become a target to force him back home to his clan.
Balrog is the clan leader of a mandalorian cult composed of his surviving lothwolf shifters, along with an amassed army of new mandalorians willing to follow him in their path of retribution for the deeds done against them by the Empire. Their loyalty to Balrog knows no bounds and the mandalorians prove to be a power that even torments the empire as they control trade routes, pilfer what they deem is a necessary tax to go through their territory, and  take over arms, armor, and drug smuggling in their region. Balrog considers himself the leader of a new world order of mandalorians now that the old ways are simply inefficient given their enemies. This in itself can be a major point for any kind of character targeted for trying to stand against them or for simply being in the way.
John is a self serving lone wolf that travels the galaxy taking the worst kind of moral work that gives him the best pay. For all intent and purpose, john is a selfish sociopath but at the very least he’s funny and may hassle your muse either as a target or coworker. Or maybe your muse targets him because of the high bounty on his head. Any which way, he’s an adventurer if you want a little corruption on your muse.
Following the fall of the empire and the gradual recovery of the universe, the rebellion is still needed against the first order… Mia, now a fully grown Atrolian, has taken the Jedi skills taught to her by her brother to run reconnaissance detail and the training of new recruits against this well known threat. Though she is only slightly younger than Luke and Leia, her species has put her in what is the equivalent age of a young adult.
▪︎ The Sequels:  The Rey Saga
( Taking place during the era of the first order, Onwards)
♡ A Rebel at Heart: Mia Blagrove
Following the fall of the empire and the gradual recovery of the universe, the rebellion is still needed against the first order… Mia, now a fully grown Atrolian, has taken the Jedi skills taught to her by her brother to run reconnaissance detail and the training of new recruits against this well known threat. Though she is only slightly younger than Luke and Leia, her species has put her in what is the equivalent age of a young adult.
♡ The Old Warcat: Rosie Valentine
Unable to part with her daughter knowing Mia has taken to fighting a war way over her head, Rosie begrudgingly puts her exhaustion aside to make sure these brats don’t get themselves kid. Luke Skywalker sure as hell isn't the last Jedi and someone needs to teach these new generation brats some humility. Who better to do this that a war cat?
Plot Points:
Mia is a young woman at the time of the first order rising, similar to the age of her own mother when the clone wars took place. She has become a formidable opponent given her tall agile stature, her force abilities, her flying capabilities with her wings, and her unyielding nature when it comes to justice and doing what is right. As soon as she was old enough, Mia ran off and joined the resistance to face off against the rising threat of the first order. Here, she takes on stealth and recon missions in a similar fashion, She is fearless and inspires hope in others with her strong presence. Being who her mother is, Luke Skywalker is no longer the last jedi. Being part of the rebels leaves open a large window in which she can meet muses varying from first order agents, rebels, or even planet natives as she travels around the galaxy
Rosie suffers empty nest syndrome and goes against her better nature to follow her daughter into a war that has nothing to do with them. She has grown harsher, more tired since her master’s ghost deemed his teachings maximized and left Rosie to become the teacher of a new generation in a new world. While still only a young woman in terms of her species, the stress of being a mother and a warrior has given Rosie an older appearance. She aids in humanitarian work, as a healer for rebels, or as a heavy hitter sent in emergency situations. Where Mia can be found, her mother is usually not too far behind.
Depending on what happens in the prequel verse, there can be a point of involvement with Rocky which can lead to paths crossing between the family by chance. Any previous connection with any of the character can be a major emotional moment for how the muses deal with Rosie, Mia, or Rocky being whiplashed by the discovery that they’re all alive
Self explanatory but Mia would have issues in trying to unravel planetary corruption. Rosie has decided assassination is always a good option

Given the legends that surrounded ghost pokemon and the attachment ghost types had to the dead, both human and other pokemon, Rei couldn’t say he was surprised that a region had taken them rather seriously, but to take it that far? That seemed rather extreme, too.
“I see… how interesting… I’ve never heard of another region having that sort of restriction…” Admittedly, it made him want to learn more about it from Agni. If he couldn’t go visit, getting information from someone from there was the next best thing.
Though, at the same time, he wasn’t sure his own views would be helpful. After losing the two things that he cherished most, he did come across his current partner pokemon, after all, and even now, he had to wonder if it wasn’t one of those two precious lives that were lost that day or if it was just a very fortunate coincidence.
Tumblr media
“Hm… well, I have seen people breed ghost pokemon before, and with pokemon that become ghost type upon evolution, it’d be hard to say that death would be involved at all. Also, take for instance pokemon like Gimmighoul. While born from a piece of the human soul in a way, they aren't made from death but rather simple passions... b-but um… y-yes, there are plenty of ghost types that aren’t born from death. Even then, quite a few of them are thought to be born from the deaths of pokemon…”
Though, admittedly, the more he thought of it, the more he wondered if there were records he could refer to of early trainers and what they thought of ghost types in general, or if there are phenomena that proved that sort of thing.
"Though... I-I wouldn't be able to say why other specialists have such an interest in the type. I can really only give you my own."
Tumblr media
"Oh, yeah sure I can answer some of your questions." Agni gave the man a gentle smile despite their heart fucking hammering in them,
"I'm asking for Ghost specialist because...In Jalur, due to our beliefs that Ghost Pokemon are actually souls of our dea--deceased relatives we're not allowed to battle with them nor specialize in Ghost Pokemon. I did meet with a Ghost Specialist in Johto, but I suppose more perspectives wouldn't hurt."
Tumblr media
"Different people have different takes, and I would like to know your thoughts about it and why people would specialize in that type. Specifically: do you think there are Ghost Pokemon that aren't born from death?" While they're aware they can't really change the culture around it in their region, it might do them some good to listen to those that are outside and specialize in the type.
Maybe, they though, it could enlighten them and be able to put more care into their ceremonies. Though they feel like their line of questioning might be a bit...much.

ღ pls give rey a forehead kiss
☆★ START. ღ A FOREHEAD KISS FROM MY MUSE
Not many people lived this far out in the desert, even the roughest of settlements granted some form of security. A community, a stronghold. People coming together to trade, tell stories, survive.
People traveled out into the wilderness of Jakku for more sinister deeds. The morally-corrupt, the illegal. Anything which would raise an eyebrow amongst the already hardy folks of the Outpost. The exile normally kept his nose out of it, not wanting to draw too much suspicion to himself.
Screaming and crying had caught Obi-Wan’s attention, the fierce sound of a ship’s engine warming up. The guttural voice of Unkar Plutt telling the child to ❛ BE QUIET. ❜ Running up the dune he caught sight of the back of a ship entering the atmosphere, a young girl desperately holding her arm out towards it as though she could grasp it. Pull it back. Make them come back to her.
Arrangements were made, understandings exchanged. ‘Ben’ was known within the Outpost, and by Plutt. A deal that he could look after the girl - raise her - so long as she would work for him when old enough. Why? He didn’t know, but the Force drove him to it. As the Force had driven Qui-Gon to Anakin all those years ago. The girl needed him, and that was all he needed to know.
That evening the crying in the halfway shelter Obi-Wan called a home, the silents tears still fell from youthful eyes. Too young to understand, or even want to understand. He hugged her close, gently shushing her, telling her ❛ You’re safe now, you’re safe. ❜ When at last she had calmed he carried her to her new, makeshift bed. Made sure she was tucked in, her hair tucked back off her face. He leaned in and kissed her forehead in the way he imagined a father would - having been without one himself - and told her once again: ❛ Everything is going to be okay. ❜

hey, I just read one of your older posts:
https://at.tumblr.com/class1akids/615085028091838464/9pmf2720px2x
and I wanted to ask something. You say you see Shouto as an unreliable narrator, which is really interesting to me because a lot of people (including me) call Dabi and Endeavor unreliable narrators. But I've never seen anyone say this about Shouto before so I was wondering what made you come to that conclusion.
(I hope I phrased this well and it doesn't sound rude or too direct or anything. I'm just genuinely curious)
No problem.
I don't see Shouto as an unreliable narrator overall - it was in reference specifically to the time when we got introduced to the family history through his story told to Deku during the Sport Festival.
There are many types of unreliable narrators, and in this respect I regard Shouto as such because he was extremely young at the time. I have no doubt that he's telling the truth as he saw it, but being only 5-6 years old - his understanding of the truth is naturally limited to what a child of that age can perceive.
He doesn't have any experience of their family before things got bad - he was born into pure hell - so his view is not at all nuanced with facts that we learn only later through the narration of Fuyumi, Enji, Rei and Touya.
The Endeavor we see through Shouto's eyes is not very different from a flat paper-villain like AFO. As a small child, Shouto puts both his parents into rigid black and white categories (which is normal), and doesn't see them as the flawed humans they both are.
Now don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that Endeavor wasn't the main abuser, or that Rei wasn't a victim. I'm just saying that both of their characterizations, the dynamic of their marriage, the ways they have let their kids down get much much more nuanced as we are introduced to more Todoroki family POVs.
I think Shouto's own views also evolve a lot as he gets more information of things he didn't / couldn't have known.
It's evident from the fanfic you get based on the early Shouto POV - where people could easily believe even that Endeavor would kill his own kids (which used to be the leading theory of "Touya's death") for example.

Arcade Fire's WE was born in 'a very uncertain but beautiful time,' says Win Butler
Win Butler was behind the wheel of a rental vehicle Wednesday afternoon. His wife and bandmate Régine Chassagne was riding shotgun and their day-shy-of-nine-year-old son Edwin Farnham Butler IV was in the back, eating, as they rolled out of Palm Springs.
Butler was still buzzing about Arcade Fire’s surprise set last weekend at Coachella. Not on a main stage, where the Montreal band could well have been headlining, but in a tent jammed with 10,000 fans, and throngs more spilling outside.
“It was really cool,” he said. “It was really meaningful. The first time we played Coachella was in 2005. We didn’t have any road crew. We were basically a punk band, driving our own van and didn’t have road cases for our keyboards; they were just in the boxes we bought them in. That was our first time playing for a big audience. … So we were sort of in a reflective mood (being back there).”
There’s much to reflect on as the enduring Canadian indie-rock heroes prepare to release their sixth studio album, WE, on May 6. It’s been 18 years since the group shot to world fame with its debut album, Funeral. The new record finds Arcade Fire playing with a pared-down mix of urgency, intimacy and abandon that hearkens back to its early days while breaking new creative ground.
It all started when everything stopped. Butler and Chassagne were in a recording studio in New Orleans, where they now live for much of the year (though they still have a place in Montreal), when the COVID-19 pandemic began.
“They were closing the borders to Canada,” Butler recalled. “We had written Age of Anxiety, End of the Empire and a bunch of songs. … Régine and I were working every day in the studio. We didn’t know when or if it would be possible to get the band together. We were very inspired and very plugged in, but the world we were making the record for was changing so much.”
Butler had his grandfather Alvino Rey’s guitar, “a 1930s Gibson he got in New York City from (jazz guitar pioneer) Eddie Lang,” as well as his dad’s old Martin acoustic and his son’s electric.
“I had these three guitars I felt drawn to play, and we have this lovely old Steinway in our living room,” he said. “The goal was to write — independent of genre — songs we could play around the piano with guitar, and to just work on structure, melody and the bones of songs as much as we could, because we had time.”
When they reunited with the rest of the band six months later in El Paso, Texas, the pandemic was in full swing, and the U.S. election was very much up in the air. Despite the upheaval all around them, something clicked.
“Every night, I would grill food and we would sit around the fire and play songs,” Butler recalled. “It was a very uncertain but beautiful time.”
Arcade Fire has always hovered between extremes. Funeral was an album about death, marked by unifying anthems teeming with life. The new album is divided into two parts. The first, “I,” involves themes of angst and alienation, while the “WE” side is about coming together and finding hope. For Butler, they are flip sides of a coin.
“The ship is moving fast,” he said. “We’re in a challenging time and the world is changing at such a rapid rate. How do we face that change without being defeated by it? There are these two poles: the realities of the world, which at times can be really dark and heavy, which we all want to escape; and this deep, unconditional love, which transcends time and whatever generation or family we’re born into, and is deeper and more universal.”
WE was co-produced by Butler, Chassagne and Nigel Godrich, known for his career-spanning work with Radiohead. But OK Computer redux this is not. Godrich adapts to meet the pair on their own terms, elevating the band to a distilled version of what it does best.
“I bought (Radiohead’s 1995 album) The Bends the day it came out,” Butler said. “Nigel is such an amazing engineer, trained in this British system that goes back to the Beatles. He just has this depth of knowledge about recording that’s really inspiring.
“I think because of the way we wrote the record to work on piano and guitar, we really wanted the music to have space. If things sound good, you don’t want to add as much. There are a lot of songs that are the most spacious and empty-sounding things we’ve done.”
An appearance by Peter Gabriel, on the Chassagne-led dance track Unconditional II (Race and Religion), is but the latest alignment of the stars for a band that has found collaborative kinship with rock deities including David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen and David Byrne.
“(Gabriel) came to the studio and we had a day to work on it,” Butler said. “He does this thing where he double-tracks his voice, high and low. As soon as he put the high vocal down, I was like, ‘Oh s—, that’s Peter Gabriel.’ ”
Days after the new album was announced, Win’s brother Will Butler revealed he was leaving Arcade Fire. Meanwhile, an old friend became a new bandmate: Dan Boeckner of Montreal indie-rock act Wolf Parade joined as a touring vocalist and multi-instrumentalist.
“It’s sad, but also exciting,” Butler said of the shakeup. “We had an amazing run with Will, and we’re extremely excited about the vibe in the band (now).
“With our son as well, we’ve just got to prepare for change and root our life in love and connection. My goal was always bigger than just having a band. It was more about friendship and a sense of community, and people whose hearts are in the right place and really give a s—.
“I’m really proud we’re still doing it, and still working. I’m massively proud of the new record. I think it’s one of the best things we’ve ever done. And I’m really excited for the future.”

I wanna talk about Natsuo Todoroki for a second here.
tw// mentions of abuse, self harm, and suicide
Natsuo visibly has the most emotional trauma out of anyone else in his family (Touya not included), and I really wanna talk about why that is.
For starters, we haven't seen him really smile since he was introduced in chapter 187. He's introduced as having a friendly, easygoing persona and it's easy to imagine this is how most people outside of his family know him. However, every time we see him appear since then, another layer of his trauma is revealed and expanded upon, and it cuts DEEP.
Tumblr media
I think the main reason that Natsuo still seems so vulnerable compared to the rest of his family is different than what you'd assume. Fuyumi and Shouto both spend a lot of time around Endeavor, and have been in close proximity to his (relatively recent) decision to atone. They have seen his growth firsthand and come to terms with it. Rei has obviously taken a very different path to healing- not entirely voluntarily- but she has been working with doctors and therapists for years to change and recover and reconnect with herself and her children. Natsuo is off at college, and takes every opportunity he can to avoid Endeavor. He (understandably) wants nothing to do with him, and shows stagnant resistance to his attempts to atone.
The reason why Natsuo can't move on from the past is because his trauma didn't come from Endeavor. It came from Touya.
Now initially we were led to believe that it was simply Touya's untimely death that still bothers Natsuo, and it makes sense seeing how Endeavor drove him to the edge. Losing his best friend and brother as a young kid without parents to support him or any therapist to speak of can absolutely been the source of persistent emotional damage, but the more and more we learn about Touya's situation, the more evident it becomes that Natsuo's trauma is much much deeper than even grief.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Touya, as we know, was driven by an ambition instilled in him by his father and experienced extreme rejection sensitivity when those ambitions were no longer realistic. Touya's relationship with his parents could be described as insecure attachment, a psychological term primarily regarding how kids react and respond to their parents and other close relationships. As he was raised, Touya learned to equate his potential to be a hero with his personal worth and similarly confounded attention with love. The difference being, of course, that love is unconditional, but even attention was being continually directed away from him as a punishment for continuing to train and burn himself so he could once again become worthy in his fathers' eyes.
This is where Natsuo comes in. At first it was assumed that all of the Todoroki children were born out of Endeavor's strong-willed desire to have a child that could surpass All Might, but we learned that this isn't exactly the case. I'd argue that it was narratively poetic on Horikoshi's part once this was expanded upon. Fuyumi was born to support and encourage her brother, and that is the exact role she plays 23 years later, keeping her family together.
Natsuo's case is even more intersting.
It was bad enough if Natsuo was only born for the potential of his quirk, but it's even more sinister that the sole intent behind his birth was to discourage Touya from his ambitions. I'd say it was to replace him, but it was more to promote the idea that Touya was expendable than to raise aonther kid with the same ideals but the potential to actually achieve it, although that was definitely a secondary motivation.
The parallelism in this is how much Natsuo's life revolves around Touya. He was born because of Touya, he looked up to and took care of Touya as a kid, and the absence of Touya in the present continues to drive him and his decisions in life (but more on that later).
I continue to pray that we will eventually get more solid backstory on Natsuo and Touya's relationship as kids and where it cut off, wether on a bad note or not, but there are a few things we know for certain. One, Touya was mentally ill. Yes, he was rejected by his parents but he seems to have been particularly vulnerable to this compared to any of his siblings since he was the first of them and thus relied only on his parents for validation in his early years. He shows early signs of a variety of different mental disorders, particularly BPD, which I have previously written a whole analysis for on its own. Touya is shown self-harming both by the very nature of his quirk and even by very directly ripping his hair out. He was incredibly self-destructive.
Tumblr media
This is why it is so much more concerning to me that Natsuo, who was AT LEAST four years younger than him, was his primary source of comfort. Natsuo was too young to have known anything more than 'my big brother is sad that daddy won't train him anymore' and he obviously wasn't equipped in any way to handle Touya's severe mental illness. Touya most definitely needed professional treaatment as his forms of coping were abnormal even for the neglect and rejection that he experienced. Natsuo comforted Touya through breakdown after breakdown, and more than that Touya relied on him and came to him voluntarily for support. Natsuo was the best option he had, and he took full advantage of that. The main source of Natsuo's trauma was Touya's reliance on him.
Not to say at all that this was in any way Touya's fault- he was mentally ill and desperately in need of some form of comfort to keep him sane; it was almost a survival method at this point since neither of his parents really acknowleged him at all anymore. Touya's instability hurt Natsuo more than parental neglect ever did, but it was the neglect that enabled it and striped Touya of the supportive atmosphere he would have needed at this point not only to prevent but to heal from the mental damage he had already suffered.
Natsuo dealt with this for years and you can see how much it hurt him to see Touya in so much pain, not only from Endeavor's rejection but from his own self harm as well. For Natuso to know that his brotherly love would never be the same as having loving parents; would neve be enough- but at least it was something so he continued to love and care about his brother for little in return- is indicative of the kind of character he is.
(Edit: After the events of chapter 302 we know that Natsuo's relationship with Touya wasn't perfect. I will elaborate more on this in a different post, but I just wanted to clarify that although we were shown a very high-tension scene between them, it is implied that this was a regular occurrence that Natsuo was usually more receptive too but tired out of, in addition to Touya's spiraling mental health. It fit with the natrative to show the tension Touya was feeling with his family from all directions, but Natsu and Touya clearly had a stronger relationship up to and before this point, evidenced by their sharing a room and playing together regularly.)
He is incredibly selfless, and it's interesting to note how many of his positive qualities as an adult stem from negative experiences as a kid. He never really felt love from his parents, so he relied on Touya (and likely also Fuyumi) for that as well. If he grew up learning he had to give love in order to recieve it back, it absolutely influenced who he became in the future, a solid example of this being the responsibility he feels to reach out and have a relationship with Shouto and further regrets that he wasn't able to help his abuse in the past either. Another aspect of his character that intruigues me is how gentle he is. Personality-wise he seems about as opposite as he could be from the awkward, stoic, emotionally-stunted person that is Endeavor.
There are a couple of reasons for this, beyond what I've already discussed.
One, he had little to no contact with elements of toxic masculinity growing up, especially not from Endeavor.
Two, most of the influence he did have growing up was from Fuyumi, who is established to have endlessly cared for him since he was a literal baby.
Three, he grew up in a household where almost everyone around him was in much more literal, immediate pain than he was so he developed a very strong sense of empathy that might also have been tied to early survivor's guilt.
Now I have one important distinction to make, and that's the temptation to label him as a 'softboy' or something of the like after seeing him caring for his family and more pointedly, watching him break down in tears during chapter 252. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with men being soft or vulnerable (on the contrary it's actually so so important and relevant that Hori is writing characters like this in a mainstream shounen manga but that's an essay for another time), it is unfair to label him as such based on a moment when his trauma is being exposed.
Because his truama stems from such a young age, there is a blurry line between just being born with more emotional intelligence and the situation he was in fostering those traits. You know, the classic nature/nurture thing. My point being, it's important to tread carefully when discussing the nature of his personality to avoid invalidating his trauma; I have no doubt that he is very strong for having survived these things, and the moments we see of him onscreen are definitely among his most vulnerable.
Another thing that people less familiar with Natsuo's character might assume is that he is hot-headed and argumentative. I thought that at first too- after all, he doesn't seem to shy away from yelling at Endeavor when given the opportunity. However, this doesn't seem to be the case at all.
Tumblr media
The first real scene we see him in with Endeavor, the man walks into the room and Natsuo decides he can't handle it and goes to leave. However, Endeavor happens to be blocking the doorway. Endeavor physically stops him and provokes him to his face, asking him to say whatever is on him mind. While Natsuo is notably not confrontational, Endeavor is. I think it's fair to say that he felt at least uneasy at this gesture. Natsuo is very honest with his feelings, and it's obvious that he's pissed at the audacity of Endeavor to be so oblivious to his own son. This is presumably one of the first real interactions they've ever really had, and at this point Natsuo has been dealing with trauma (caused by Endeavor!) on his own for years, and Endeavor seems completely oblivious to his pain and dismmisive to the rest of the family's as well.
Again during the internship arc Natsuo tries to get along with Endeavor and this time he actually gives it a fleeting chance. Tensions are high, however, and the conversation very quickly becomes uncomfortable, at which point he leaves. It is continually implied that Natsuo is uncomfortable being around Endeavor because his very presence brings up painful thoughts and memories of a time when sharing the same space as him was a warning to run and hide. This is later directly confirmed by Natsuo as he says that every time he looks at Endeavor's face he remembers Touya and the pain he was in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like an important side note is that we have never seen Natsuo outside the context of his family, which is understandable, as the role he plays in the story directly relates to them. However, if you take a look at Shouto, even though his experiences have shaped him to become who he is, he definitely acts differently when Endeavor's not in the vicinity.
Back to Touya's death, it would be very rare that someone would mourn a death for an entire decade without finding closure unless there are other factors preventing it, and uncomfortably this seems to be the same thing for both Natsuo and Endeavor: guilt.
This is getting incredibly long already, but it's important to note that Natsuo probably felt an incredible responsibility to take care of Touya and protect him because of his empathetic nature. His love was never going to be the same as having loving parents. His encouragement was never going to be the same as having support from Endeavor. Even further than then neglect and abandonement, it was not being able to save Touya that really made Natsuo feel worthless.
He seems to try and remedy this inability to save Touya and diminish his guilt by doing everything he can to be better. He reaches out to Shouto to be a better brother, he consistently pushes his limits to entertain Fuyumi's notion of a happy family, and he's working hard towards a degree rhat will allow him to help people like Touya (and Rei) because he failed to do so in the past.
Tumblr media
His bio mildly implies that he didn't have much of a direction he was heading in after high school, but Fuyumi's encouragement led him to seek out his current college career. This goes back to Natsuo's 'purpose' in a sense revolving arount Touya, from his birth to his relationship with him to his death, after which he lost his direction. They were always rather inseperable, so naturally their seperation hit Natsuo hard. He lost his direction in life so when Fuyumi encouraged him to rediscover it, he thought of helping people, because that's ultimately what he was born to do.
Thank you so, so much for reading this if you made it to the end! I clearly have a lot of thoughts on this. Let me know what you think about it as well, and hopefully we'll get more info on this soon in the manga :)

Since baseball was imported to Japan in the early Meiji period, time for another PLA AU!
So, both Rei and Akari were born in the past. Since my other AU has Akari as the protagonist, this one will have Rei. He was a bit of a prodigy at baseball when he first heard of it. Thus, when the Galaxy Team moves to Hisui, he ends up an expert in catching Pokémon due to having specialized in pitching.
I’d imagine there would be some scenes of Rei infodumping all he’s learned about baseball to Ingo, since he’d probably be the only person in either clan to understand what he’s talking about (Nimbasa had that sports arena).
Anyway, he goes through the main story and post game. Then, he is summoned by Arceus to the future as some mess is about to go down (Platinum timeline). However, he was dropped in the wrong spot.
He was found by Team Galactic, and seeing the symbol on his outfit, took him in. Rei ends up becoming a Commander who’s very good at following orders and extremely loyal. After all, Cyrus looks just like Cyllene, so he feels he can trust him. (He’s known as the “weird commander” by everyone else, due to sometimes getting names mixed up and calling it the Galaxy Team.) [Also, Rei being the MC provides a balance in the Galactic commanders; not counting Charon, there will now be two female commanders and two male commanders for Platinum MC (probably Dawn for this) to fight.]
When he is sent to collect the Lake Trio, he thinks nothing of it, remembering that time he used the Red Chain to save the world. When Cynthia tries to convince MC that what Team Galactic is doing is wrong (since she can see he truly cares about the world), he doesn’t believe her. After all, he trusted Volo and he stabbed him in the back; he’s not about to let that happen again.
Only for the Platinum Spear Pillar scene to play out and he realizes it did happen again. Once again, he was betrayed by someone he thought he could trust. And once again, he was used in someone else’s attempt to end the world as he knows it.
Welcome to the Commander AU.

Victor Creel Theories
(also includes ST movie DNA series: Star Wars)
Victor Creel is described as "a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s." We know he will be institutionalized at Penthurst mental hospital, where Peter Ballard works, based on leaked on set pics.
There a few possibilities regarding his character:
He could be a former test subject with some kind of powers and a connection to the upside down (which would also follow the even/odd season pattern of a main character being directly involved with the upside down creatures) I think it's highly likely that Victor Creel will be involved with the mystery/danger in Hawkins in some way, and have a connection to the upside down. He could also be disturbed on top of this, and he could be involved in Eleven's storyline this season.
That he is not a test subject and is ONLY mentally disturbed.
He may be related to one of the already established characters. Most likely Joyce, and maybe Terry but it's a stretch.
Before I go any further into that last possibility, I just want to preface that this idea of an "evil father/grandfather with powers" could be a purposeful Star Wars parallel. The Duffer brothers have already paralleled and used Star Wars references a few times in the show:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Star Wars, Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father, and Palpatine is Rey's grandfather (aka the literal worst guy in the universe). A common theme in ST is abusive/bad fathers - that post here. Interesting...
Palpatine is also Anakin Skywalker's father, so Luke and Leia are both the grandkids of Palpatine as well as Rey is, but it's unclear if they are just force midichlorian related or actually dna related as well but I won't get into that here!
Luke and Rey are both force sensitive (have powers), so are Darth Vader and Palpatine; their descendants (kid/grandkid) have powers, and so do they (father/grandfather) The descendants use their powers for good, while the ancestors use their power for evil. Who has powers in ST? Eleven and Will - and they both already have this idea of abusive/bad/evil fathers: Will has an abusive father Lonnie, and Eleven has an abusive father figure Dr. Brenner "Papa".
So... Victor Creel being the evil/bad grandfather to either Eleven or Will and the evil/bad father to Joyce or Terry, would make a FULL Star Wars parallel to people who are morally good and have powers (Will and El - Luke and Rey), discovering they are the descendant of an evil male figure who also has powers (Victor Creel - Darth Vader and Palpatine)
If Victor Creel turns out to be the father of anyone in the show my bets are it's either Joyce Byers or maybeee Terry Ives.
If he was a test subject, its likely he went "crazy" with some of his powers and the government couldn't cover it up so they declare him mentally insane to get him committed, and he probably goes insane being locked away as well. Personally, I think he may be 001 or an early test subject, when they were still working out the kinks of the program, and I think he does have a big connection to the upside down.
The Duffer Brother's on s4: "In Hawkins a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything"....
Now let's get into the possibilities for Creel's storyline/who he could be related to (split into 3 parts).
Part 1: Creel could be Joyce's father
Based on Victor Creel's description as "disturbed" and that he is "in a psychiatric hospital", it could connect him to Joyce's bloodline.
There are several comments in the show hinting to this idea of mental instability in Joyce's family:
s1 ep.5: When Lonnie comes to visit in s1 after Will goes missing, Joyce says to Lonnie "No, don't look at me like that, like how everyone is looking at me, like I'm out of my damn mind" He responds saying "I think you need to consider the possibility that this is all in your head. Remember your Aunt Darlene?" Joyce quickly replies, "No, this is not that."
That conversation, although quick, is very telling. Lonnie is implying that Joyce had an aunt who was mentally unstable - and Joyce clearly knows about her aunt being unstable because she responds to his comment by saying what's she's experiencing is not that (the mental instability of her aunt)
s2 ep.2: Joyce says to Bob, "this is not a normal family", when he suggest moving out of Hawkins.
I used to think Joyce was always was referring to the whole 'my son got stuck in an alternate dimension with supernatural monsters and is now traumatized, and we were sworn to secrecy by the government' thing but maybe she is also referring to her biological family.
s1 ep.2: When they are searching for Will, one of the other police officers, says "Joyce is one step from the edge" and the other officer responds "She has been several steps for quite a while now".
If Joyce is related to Victor Creel biologically, and he did also happen to be a test subject, has powers, or has some other relation to the upside down, this could possibly have contributed to whatever kind of abilities Will has, because he would be a descendant of Creel. But Joyce does not seem to have any powers and neither does Jonathan. If they were related to Creel, it's odd that they both didn't get powers, but Will did. I've always thought Will was born with his powers, like El.
We know almost nothing about Joyce's past, it's never discussed in the slightest in the show, which I feel like is purposeful. We don't know Joyce's maiden name; she doesn't change it back after she and Lonnie divorce. Maybe the Duffers are saving Joyce's backstory for s4 (and possibly s5), like I think they are doing with Will and El's connection. Will, El, Hopper, and Joyce were pictured in a series of 4 tweets posted by the stranger writers, hinting to the main 4 storylines for season 4. My analyzation of this tweet here.
I think it's possible that Joyce's storyline this season could also have to do with her past- not just her searching for Hopper- but also more personal information about her. Perhaps we will see flashbacks of younger Joyce and maybe learn about her biological relatives.
Noah also said this would be the darkest season for Will, so this idea of being the grandkid of someone evil or disturbed could fit into that.
Part 2: Creel could be Terry's father/Eleven's grandfather
The only other person I could see potentially having a biological; relation to Victor Creel could be Terry Ives and Eleven, (because it would complete the Star Wars parallel mentioned earlier) but it's a stretch for several reasons, the main one being that Terry and Becky's father Bill Ives, died in a car crash (year unknown).
So for Victor Creel to be Terry's father that either has to be:
Her adoptive father OR
Her mother cheated and led Mr. Ives to believe Terry was his kid but her father is really Victor Creel, and Becky is actually Bill Ives son (which would explain why Becky has no powers)
Right of the bat it's interesting Terry's father's name is Bill. Bill is a nickname for William (Will Byers full name is William), and Billy's a nickname also for William... Hmmm....
Immediately after El is born, Terry is adamant that Brenner stole her child to use as a weapon to fight the commies BECAUSE SHE HAD SPECIAL ABILITIES - and she's completely right about everything. How does Terry know El had powers immediately after she was born? Because she knows she has developed some kind of special abilities from the experiments as well. When El goes to visit her mother in s2, THE LIGHTS FLICKER, just like they do when the upside down is near, but it's not Eleven controlling it. Her Aunt Becky says it's just the wiring, and Eleven responds: "IT'S MAMA. She wants to talk." And then we see Terry's NOSE BLEED, just like El's does when she uses her powers.
Quick side note about El's biological father is Andrew Rich: (It's revealed in the canon novel Suspicious Minds that Andrew Rich is El's father) He was a college student who got expelled from school due to protesting the Nixon address, making him eligible to be drafted in the Vietnam war, and he died in battle. Terry was involved in the Project MKUltra experiments at Hawkins National Laboratory in College, under the direction of Dr. Martin Brenner, but didn't know she was pregnant at the time. Andrew never even knew Terry was pregnant, meaning she was extremely early on in her pregancy at the time he was sent away, not even Terry was aware yet. It's also stated in this book that BRENNER HAD A HAND IN GETTING ANDREW EXPELLED SO HE COULD SEND ANDREW AWAY. The novel states that Brenner has Andrew drafted because he wants to SCARE Terry, to show her how much power he has over her life. There's definitely some history between Terry and Brenner that we don't know about yet.
If Victor Creel is in fact Joyce's father it's interesting that the powers seem to have skipped a generation with Joyce, and also one kid with the Byers, but if Victor Creel is Terry's father, no generations were skipped in passing down powers. ANYWAYS, this is all just theories and speculation since we have no actual concrete reasons to believe he will be related to Joyce or Terry.
Part 3: The possibility that Creel could be involved in Eleven's storyline this season does not rely on them being biologically related.
**One of the filming locations for this season is the Claremont House, which is RUMORED to be Creel's house and also "Vecna's lair" the new monster for s4 (unconfirmed) This is the house the Hawkins group goes into in the ST4 sneak peek, where they see the grandfather clock striking midnight. If that's true, there's a connection between Creel and the upside down and having powers, which could connect Creel to Eleven. The Duffers: "In Hawkins a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything". This thing "that connects everything", could be Creel's storyline (his possible connection to the lab/upside down/person in the show), because Creel's storyline also spans all the way back to the 1950's and before that, so there's our "long buried" part most likely.
Robert Englund recently revealed in *an interview* that his character Victor Creel gouges his eyes out, making him unable to see. Englund also mentions what it's like working with Millie Bobby Brown and talks about the first time her met her, he doesn't mention any other cast members in detail like he does Millie.
He's clearly working closely with Millie's character Eleven.
But why? I think Creel could be involved with Eleven getting her powers back, and her reliving her past. Once the government baddies realize El has no powers, they're gonna want them back. If Creel was in fact a test subject, maybe there is some kind of connection between them, Such as Eleven revisiting what happened to her in her past and how that could relate to her getting her powers back.
Another thought I had was that perhaps the gruesome murder he committed is somehow related to something that ends up impacting in Eleven's life.

Whatever Victor Creel's storyline is, it will be an important one, and it will carry somewhat into s5, since he will be a returning character. He is not signed as a series regular, but as a recurring character, which means we don't really know to what capacity he will be in s5. It could be flashbacks mostly, or he could have just as big or small of a role.

That detail about eyes being gouged out reminds me of fear street 1666 when the townsmen who was sacrificed to the devil becomes possessed and gouges the kids eyes out. Leigh Janick, director of fear street, is married to Ross Duffer. They both direct and make horror/sci-fi themed series about kids in a small town set in the 80's, who fight supernatural evil with a heavy undertone of queer themes, that are even filmed in a lot of the same locations (the mall, the town streets, etc.) I'm not saying it's the same thing, it definitely won't be. But there's so many similarities between ST and Fear Street, I thought I would mention this as another.
