Revelations - Season One

Summary: FBI agent Leila Kade faces a profound life change after giving birth to a baby girl, supported by her loving husband. Despite the challenges of motherhood, Leila returns to her role as a dedicated agent a few months later, ready to confront gruesome and haunting cases with her BAU team.

Warnings: This story contains mature themes such as sexual content, strong language, violence, mentions of alcohol and drugs, blood, gore, and death. All the usual Criminal Minds stuff. And there is NO CHEATING.

Note 1: I imagine Leila Kade as South Asian but I have decided to let you, the reader, imagine her appearance, hence the reason why I have not given her a face claim. However, her race does not affect the story, whatsoever. You, as the reader, are free to imagine her however you want. If you don't see her as South Asian, then that's fine. It won't affect the storyline. I also imagine the OC!Male as South Asian, but again, it won't affect the storyline.

Note 2: The team will consist of the main cast (Emily, Derek, JJ, Spencer, Penelope, Aaron, and Rossi) but will also include Elle Greenaway and Jason Gideon because they were some of my favorite characters and I wanted to include them with the rest of the team. Basically, Elle and Gideon never leave when Emily and Rossi join.

Note 3: There will be multiple time skips throughout this series. For example, the first chapter will begin on the first season and episode of the show but then there will be a time skip to later episodes (because there are obviously way too many episodes to write this series on and I wanted to include specific episodes that would help the plot of this story). This means that this series will be a slow burn romance but I believe it to be better this way. This will also stray from the actual show a lot, so don't expect it to follow the plot precisely.

Do you have any advice for trying to avoid ripping off other people's works in original stories? I've been stuck in a weird writers block where anything I do to try and string plots together end up just being plots of other stuff I've read. Is that a problem you've come across before?

Honestly? This might be a hot take, but just get it out of your system. Write the story that's just your three favorite plots in a trenchcoat. Any writing will make you better at writing. To me, this is the storytelling equivalent of doing frame redraws or art style challenges. Art done for practice doesn't need to be free of all influence, and in fact pursuing that total originality is detrimental to the learning process because it forces you to continuously reinvent the wheel.

In my experience, through the process of just writing what you want to write how you want to write it, you'll find both that it's easier to find originality in the execution than you expected, and that originality has very little correlation with what makes a story good. When you go to write the plot you recognize as the plot of something else, you'll probably find yourself making changes. A different character moment to highlight an overlooked concept that spoke to you, a slightly more cruel twist of fate for a character to wrangle. Little original concepts will find their way in, because having ideas is the driving motivator behind creating art. It's always there, even if it's being sneaky or uncooperative.

Most of the time, inspiration is less "this story is good I think I'll replicate it in every detail" and more "I love parts A, B and C of this story, which tells me valuable information about the kinds of story elements I find compelling, which helps me guide my own writing towards things that involve the parts I like most about A, B and C." You'll always be able to recognize your own influences, but from the audience's external perspective, the you-ness that defines your art is much more obvious than it'll ever be to you.

first of all. thank you very much... sometimes i feel like im in a padded cell talking to the wall. but its so nice to know that other insane people are here too

second of all. theyre probably the second team im most excited about. the three most notoriously people-pleasing but vibrant individuals in one group literally sounds like something out of a slice-of-life girls anime. im thinking k-on, nichijou, or keep your hands off eizouken. which means it is genuinely PRIME yuri material and you are so smart anon for recognizing it

you have scar who has consistently tried to make friends throughout every single series (magic mountain / crystals, jellie zoo, immediately attaching himself to the clockers as family) but always comes off as off-putting or suspicious, and in some instances, incompetent which isolates him pretty intensely

then youve got jimmy who was always the runt of any partnership he was in, im talking bottom of the hierarchy type positions (scott, southlanders, bad boys, tango was arguably his one good healthy equal partnership)

and lizzie who seems to fall apart at the seams the longer a series goes on. the fairy fort alliance dissolving into carnage. unable to consistently complete her tasks and becoming more grandiose and desperate in her methods (the slumber party plan during secret life is one of the saddest and funniest things ive ever watched)

literally could not be a better trio. i have no hopes of them surviving. i think they will try their hardest to maintain a sense of comfort even if it kills them. one of them will come home with no armour, on their last life, and the other two will suggest they do something grandiose, impulsive, or fun to cheer up. but at the same time I think this is the happiest and most dedicated we'll ever see the three of them to any alliance ever

Today on me rewatching The Sign and realizing shit

ok I don't know if this is like obvious to everyone else but I figured out something rewatching The Sign

this scene in episode 2 where Phaya gets lured out to sea?

This is NOT Wansarat!!!! This is CHALOTHORN!!!!

this is something that has confused me. why would Wansarat be leading Phaya out to the ocean? that doesn't seem to make sense considering everything, but I just brushed it aside as a plot hole or something but then rewatching noticed this!

if you look closely you cans see that Wansarat's eyes flash green for a moment (there's a little sound effect when it happens too, but it's easy to miss)

you know whose eyes also flash green? Narong (the police officer who killed those guys in episode 5) when he was being possessed by... you guessed it CHALOTHORN!!!

(here you can see how his eyes changed while he was being possessed)

now at this point Chalothorn has shown up twice (though we don't know that yet). once in his sea serpent form in episode 1 and then in episode 2 he's camouflaged at the bar

and look at those eyes!!! they're green!!!

but wait there's more!!!

when Phaya sees "Wansarat" here, there's an interesting effect as he goes into a trance and walks into the water....

this being identical to the effect in episode 9 where Chalothorn lures him into the water by pretending to be Tharn!!!!

FURTHERMORE!!! The only times we see Wansarat directly are in Phaya's dreams and in episode 1 where she rescued him from the water/Chalothorn which turned out to also be Tharn pulling Phaya out

So why would Wansarat be over here by herself, while Tharn is elsewhere, since they're the same person? Why would she lure her soulmate to drown? It's because Chalothorn has disguised himself as Wansarat to lead Phaya to his death!!! He has been spying on them at the camp at this point, but at this point couldn't gauge how close they were so he went with Wansarat to lure Phaya (opposed to episode 9 where he disguised himself as Tharn for the same purpose since he knew Phaya would go after Tharn). He had already seen Wansarat save Phaya earlier, so he knew that he would follow her, and he even said the exact same thing to him to lure him over.
