Sisters Army Start Point

So this is my army's progress as of rn. Not shown are an extra unbuilt Novitiate squad (need to swap Killteam roles eventually), and 3 old metal sisters I need to base. Included are my vintage repressor, dialogus, and cherub. On the right are Novitiates with chainswords proxied as Repentia (hate the gymshorts), and in the back are some Seraphim and Zephyrim on custom sculpted Greco-Roman Pillar flightstands. Also shown is my Repressor, which is my current project alongside my Junith kitbash. Feel free to request any closeups and I'll post em, was hard to get focus on the whole batch. Bit above 1k points

So NOW I can use these effects paints as base paints as planned! I am perhaps irrationally excited about this.

Also, as long as I had the airbrush out, I decided to get some work on the dumpy Despotek.

Here's all of the Crustcrons so far with the "decay" paint and retributor armor details.

Next step is weapons, then eyes, then varnish before shading the metallics and highlighting everything.

[What I don't actually know is if canonically Necrons can be repaired like this. I imagine they can? Because they are robots. But also have souls stuffed in there and what if you take out the piece with the soul?

Hobby progress - a change of pace

I’ve got so many Sisters in my backlog that I really need to get working on, but I’m thinking we should start with something low-pressure. A cherub from an extra box of Retributors seems the perfect candidate.

I love these ugly little fuckers. 😄 Clipped, cleaned, (sub)assembled, and primed (mostly). Additionally, I got to practice a new skill: filling gaps (detail under the cut). It could use another coat of primer but sleepy time. 💜

Lookit that fuckin’ thing! Up to now, I could tolerate gaps because they were small enough or the design of the model was enough to hide them, but no, I can’t tolerate this. Thankfully a touch of liquid green stuff was all it took.

Stuffed a bit of green stuff in there with a texture spreader, smoothed it out with a brush I don’t care about that much, shaved it into shape with the back of a hobby knife; I am very pleased with this result. 😁

WH40K Homebrew Space Marine Chapter: Stormwolves — January 2025 Astartes II Teaser Bonus Update

So, 40K Fan-Animator-Turned-Officially-on-GW's-Payroll-Animator Syama Pederson uploaded a teaser trailer for the next chapter of his Astartes project, which we can assume he's now free to work on after having advised the production of the Warhammer 40K episode of Amazon's Secret Level streaming series.

This time around, it's going to be a story about the Deathwatch Marines, with the teaser showing snippets of backstory for each of the Marines that will be featured in the Deathwatch Kill Team. Included is a Marine from Syama's own homebrew chapter, the Retributors, who were the focus of the original Astartes animations. The release date for this next installment is in 2026, and it's likely to be paywalled behind the Warhammer+ subscription service.

Since my own homebrew chapter often uses Deathwatch as their "counts-as" rules I figured it would be a good time to do an update. After the armylist adjustments I made when Munitorum Field Manual v2.0 dropped earlier this month, I realized that if I made sure that my Chapter's unique characters only appeared in a single sample armylist, then technically, I could merge all the lists into a multi-detachment mega-list that would fully represent all aspects of my homebrew.

It would be a 9,485 Point monstrosity, and I would have to come up with new squad names for the spots where I had re-used them, but I went ahead and did it anyway. Had to drop the Inquisitor from the Agents of the Imperium list, making it the third time now that I've retooled that specific one.

And really, this is just a good excuse for me to post some more of the digital kitbashing concept renders I've come up with for my Stormwolves "Codex".
