DAY 3 OF REWRITING DEMON SLAYER
Zenitsu is gone. I couldn't find a way to make his character good or even worthwhile so he's gone.
I'm just gonna use Asuhina as a replacement.
I don't enjoy erasing the main cast but Zenitsu is insufferable. Give me a break here.
Tanjiro has a lot more personality. He's less of a cardboard cut out now. He gets angry at points and isn't just all smiles all the time.
One of the biggest changes is that Nezuk8 can now talk.
She still can't come out in daylight so she is in the box. But sometimes she will put on a sunhat with alot of blockage and get around that way.
I've pretty much overhauled the entire breathing system. There's alot of bullshit i have to fix.
And I somehow have to fix the abysmal timeline and how NOBODY MENTIONS WORLD WAR FUCKING ONE!?!?!
I got alot of work to do

Retconning Scrooge Jr to be named Alistair (meaning "defender of the people”).
It got confusing talking about Scrooge and his son, and I got tired of calling him Malcolm (when that is his middle name, might change that too) and Scotty.
So, going forward, I'll be calling him Alistair.

I’m just not sure you all realize how hilarious it all is. I see some people who don’t think it’s funny. How can you not think it’s funny? I don’t get it.

“John Romita's design illustrations for the 1953-1954 revival of Captain America featuring Cap, Bucky and the Red Skull”
So, this is the Cap that wasn’t Steve, who was a Capsicle at the time. Early retconning.

Have you ever retconned your OC's story or situation? What inspired this? Did you just fancy a change? Or were you bored with them as they were? Or did you regret your decisions on first creating them?
I'm racking my brain, but... I rarely retcon much of anything, even when it comes to situations involving other RPers who've hurt me. It's just too jarring for me to say that something I know happened...didn't happen, when I know it did, and I spent those hours RPing it, etc. I feel like the closest I have really come to retconning is with @vulpes-ferus - however, even that's not truly a 'retcon'. Originally, the character was a red-haired Viera who was from the First, and once upon a time had to make a deal with pixies, and so she was...essentially considered one of them. However! Someone was playing her sister, and A) Never once RPd with me, and B) Did some...deeply troubling RP on the sister character that I don't even feel comfortable talking about, but would affect my character as well (She would not have approved at all, it was vile). So ultimately I just washed my hands of the RP and the character and made her a different character with very similar themes around being a nature-magic-based-shapeshifting-trickster. So now she's a nogistune/yokai, rather than a true fae... and a fox-woman instead of a rabbit-woman, but has many similar themes.
Anyways, here's a couple shots of her when she was Aoibheal!

so i checked something on the star wars wiki just now and. just how much retconning was done by the creators??? whole backstories were created in media i’ve never even heard about (tbf, i’m not much of a sw fan, just the first 6 films, and even then i prefer the original trilogy). maybe i’m just too used to media being linear or choose the ignore the small amounts of retconning that tolkien did. idk.

When I started to question my gender identity, I had to question everything. The entire story of me, which I'd been writing my whole life, now turned out to be severely flawed, or at least to have had an extremely unreliable narrator. And so my story was going to need some serious retconning.

Jokes about Biden now being legally allowed to drone strike Donald Trump are funny, but obviously such a blatant act of assassination would inspire retaliatory political violence and further destabilize the country. He should have Trump killed in secret, and make it look like an accident. That’s what the CIA is for!

sometimes i forget i'm allowed to make my own decisions with my characters instead of waiting for someone else it handle it.
anyways, it's been bugging me for a while but I do kind of regret making Lili alter Sera's dress. I had a bit of engagement brain going on and I was worried people would be less inclined to check out this comic I spent days working on if Lili still had that ugly green dress for multiple pages, but that ugly green dress was bought with love and affection. I also felt like it was OOC for her Lili and Sera. I think Sera would be genuinely heartbroken if Lili tampered with her gift and Lili wouldn't mess with something that Sera lovingly paid for.
I'm kind of unsure if I want to do a follow up comic where it's somehow reverted to normal or I just quietly keep the old dress without any acknowledgement. or, if I wanted to be extra insane, re-edit my old comics.

Stolas makes it absolutely, crystal clear that he is going to give Blitzø the Asmodean crystal, no strings attatched, and step out of his life forever if that's what Blitzø truly wants.
Tumblr media
No matter how much it pains him, no matter if he has to spend the rest of eternity alone, he is willing to let Blitzø go.
Tumblr media
He knows that a huge part of what's driving them apart and hurting Blitzø is himself and his actions.
Tumblr media
Even though he vows to make amends, to be better, to try to understand Blitzø's pain, he acknowledges the possibility that there's nothing he can do to mend the rift between them.
Tumblr media
He knows that the choice to stay by his side is ultimately Blitzø's to make. Even if it destroys him, he's not going to take that choice away from him.

One thing I find interesting about the negative reactions to Kaos
Or more specifically, the negative reactions to the Orpheus/Eurydice plotline in Kaos
(Cut for spoilers!)
Is that almost all of the negative reactions are something along the lines of "they fucked up the perfect love story! They made Orpheus too obsessive! Who does that bitch Eurydice think she is, NOT being in love with him too!"
When in fact the original myths never says dickshit about whether Eurydice is in love with Orpheus. Yes, Orpheus braves the underworld for his wife; yes, he cares enough to get her "back." But the original myth isn't about what love can achieve because Orpheus fails in the myth. Love isn't enough, because he doesn't trust her, doesn't believe she followed him all the way out of Hades and back to the earth. He turns around because he doesn't think it worked, and he was right because he fucked it up.
Orpheus, in the myths, does not love Eurydice enough to have faith in her, and Eurydice is completely silent in the myth. Did she want to follow Orpheus? Did she love him back? Did she want to live in the world again? We have no idea; we just assume.
And it's so funny to see viewers of the show get angry that their interpretation of the myth isn't catered to, because the show itself deals with this exact problem — people in the Cave watching Orpheus torture himself for their amusement, gods being annoyed that Orpheus might not be able to do it (or terrified that he will). Even Orpheus gets angry (though kudos to the writers, they don't have him indulge in it for long) when Eurydice falls in love with someone else, because that's not how the story was supposed to go. Viewers both in the show and of the show are mad because the two people/characters actually in the story are making different choices, or aren't who they want them to be. Just like real life.
The whole storyline is an exploration of why people — including the audience — want Orpheus and Eurydice to be a love story to the detriment of the actual characters involved, and why sometimes the happily ever after is something different (possibly something better) than a love story.
