🐅 for Sansa!
(lesbian with comphet aha)
Uuhhhhhh there’s also a lot for this one I adore the starklings. these ones might be controversial I know Arya and Sansa are heavily debated character on Tumblr but as a lover of both I’m gonna go for it.
Sansa is very much a people pleaser which is a symptom of her growing up in a society where women are expected to be perfect wives and mothers. She’s a child whose been forced to play the role of an adult bride at the end of the day, and I feel like a lot of people are very harsh on her without realizing that she is literally a child. I do think she’s quite similar to the quieter, more diplomatic Ned, while Arya takes after the independent, strong-willed Catelyn, but that doesn’t mean that Sansa doesn’t try to appeal to her mother. Her calling Jon her bastard brother is her doing just that. Her and Arya are a reversed version of me and my little sister (me being more like Arya and my sister being more like Sansa) so I very much have many MANY feelings about these characters and I can’t put them all down but hopefully this makes sense 😭😭😭 basically I think a lot of Sansa’s behaviour is a defense mechanism and symptom of being brought up in an unhealthy society and that she’s a child who deserves sympathy in her story. She’s smart and she’s a people pleaser and she’s scared and she’s a little girl who is being preyed upon by almost every man in her life from her betrotheds attack dog to her mothers childhood companion!!! She is a child!!!!
#my asks#I could also talk a lot about my interpretation of her as a white passing native but that’d go on for WAYYY too long#a little girl forced to marry into a family that sees her as an intruder#who is forced to adhere to standards of femininity that are harmful and predatory#whose connection of her faith and culture (lady) is killed as an omen to the horror that is to come#who is seen as a political object worth lusting over by the politicians and adults around her#who is not treated as her own person deserving of respect by even those who claim to support her

If you were wondering why many lesbians of color are fighting back against identity policing and rightfully calling it out as white supremacy, it is because this rhetoric is dangerous, harmful, and antithetical to our liberation. Invalidating lesbian manhood is rooted in antiBlackness and antiIndigeneity. Excluding lesbians of color for our race and culture is colonization in action. Excluding trans lesbians of color for our cultural gender and sexuality and for being trans in a way that subverts colonial gender systems is racist and transphobic. here is a fantastic article that talks about African gender and sexuality and highlights the existence of male lesbians or lesbian men. As an Indigenous person of triracial descent, I am proud of my Indigenous cultural gender and sexuality, and I will not allow white supremacists and queer assimilationists to erasure the history and cultures of my ancestors. Male lesbians and lesbian men are STILL HERE. We are proudly Black, Brown, and Indigenous! This is our tradition!

other trans people don't dislike c*ntrapoints for trying to meet cis people where they're at, we dislike her for platforming Buck Angel and because the woman has a weird hate boner for nonbinary people, as well as evidently not thinking much of trans people that aren't "normal" in general
#cipher talk#Ntm Natalie herself is kinda racist and antisemitic but-#Real ones remember her selling a 'David Icke was right' lizard people shirt and her video on cultural appropriation#Like. Tabby is an extended mockery of 'weird' transfems who have fursonas and don't wear high heels#Who gets juxtaposed against 'normal' 'rational' transfems who Natalie doesn't seem to like either for being too conservative#But also often gives their characters more seriousness and respect when she portrays them#Also her stupid comments about anti native racism

Performative activism. Loathe it so much. Because people always claim valuing and respecting and wanting to hear indigenous voices until we actually speak and want to discuss them then there’s not a single rats ass given.
#[ out of character. ] salt time. hold my hot cheetos.#[ one of the many reasons why I am done ]#[ tumblr on a whole doesn’t give a shit about respecting native voices and it’s just proven itself yet again ]#[ all of this performative action and none of those people who can’t handle being questioned or educated can’t tell me a thing about#Indian policy - the relationship between federal government and tribal councils and reservation#or the land policy of the BIA or how it affects natives ]#[ none can sit with me and have a discussion- a REAL discussion ]#[ I’m quitting tumblr on a culture front goddamn ]#[ nothing but writing here on out ]#[ if I ever return to here it’s all going to be writing ]#[ nothing of course on the good ones at all i appreciate and adore the support given ]#[ it’s just ??? ]#[ too busy fighting irl for tribal rights I don’t got time for fake care from fake performative activists ]#negative /

Pains me to say it as an evil fucked up deer connoisseur but i think we need to put evil fucked up deer on the shelf until people learn to behave
#People are being increasingly obnoxious about certain monsters#And i think the tiktok ''notdeer'' trend is annoying from a cryptid standpoint but concerning from an ecological standpoint#It was ok at first but people were posting deer that obviously had CWD. brother thats a suffering animal you just posted for likes#& people need to stop acting entitled to ones from native american cultures its really fucking weird to complain abt simple respect#emf

It genuinely infuriates me that someone could write a very clear, straight forward sentence that needs no further elaboration of information on something pertaining to keeping something specific to a culture predominantly of color guarded or a closed practice, and you will still get white people in the notes like "Ok but but but can I be the exception?"
#happens with black language of liberation and aave#happens with native folks tell yall to have respect for important figures in their culture that yall treat like 'cryptids'#happens when spiritual practitioners in hoodoo voodoo and santeria tell yall to stay out of those practices#happens when asian americans feel the need to draw boundaries on what they feel is culturally appropriative#like i could go on....#it especially bothers be me when they use queerness as their reason of exception#you think gay people dont exist in our cultures???? why do you state that like to be gay is separate to the experience of poc....

for the American zionists i just have one question. if a militant group in Canada killed 100 people in Washington State and took 200 hostage would your first priority as a member of the U.S. government be to a) retrieve the hostages safely while strengthening your own protections against the militant group, or b) state that every single ethnic Canadian is a member of said militant group and nuke toronto
#also add to consideration: if the united states was hypothetically founded by stealing the land of Canadians#and treating them as second class citizens while erasing their culture#i say Canada because I HIGHLY DOUBT you all would respect the actual colonization and genocide the United States has committed#against native americans#food for thought!!! understand the signs of genocide when they happen!!!#also: being against Israel does NOT equal antisemitism#free palestine#palestinian genocide#israel#hamas#from the river to the sea palestine will be free

You guys need to just accept that mixed people exist, and are allowed to engage with all of their cultures. If you see someone engaging in a culture you feel they "don't belong" in, you need to do three things:
- Ask yourself if it's possible this person just isn't visibly from the culture you're trying to "protect"? Could they be mixed? Adopted into the culture? Maybe they just grew up around it and absorbed it? We don't live in a closed borders cultures world. Cultural mixing happens all the time, and it's a good thing.
- Ask yourself if you saying anything about it contributes something. Ask yourself why does it have to be you to "stand up" to someone who is in the "wrong culture".
- Mind your own fucking business.
#cultural appropriation#im very tired so i might regret this post but its weird to be that you cant all juat give people a benefit of assuming good#im ao tried of what the conversation about cultural appropriation has turned into#like how its becoming only these people can do those things#but thats just#ethnoisolationism#cultural appropriation began as a discussion around profit and respect#and no its like. a checklist of if youre not x then you cant do y#the discussion has been lost#and non natives continue to profit from our stories and traditons#im tired like super tired idk if i even worried this well#but im gonna leave it up and see if it starts something

When I’m a tattoo artist I will refuse to tattoo any sort of cultural appropriation… especially on middle age white women they are the worst for it
#a lady came in the other day and told me all about her budda tattoo she wanted#when I asked if she was Buddhist she obviously said no#I have coworkers that have native women tattooed with dreamcatchers that no absolutely nothing about the culture other then the aesthetics#if you want something like that get it from someone from that culture#or just don’t? it’s not your culture it’s not sacred to you#why do you need to put it on your skin forever if it means nothing other then it’s looks#to you#this in: another white woman complains about the activities of other white women#I know but it’s just a big problem with tattoos#there’s a big difference between respecting and appreciating something and appropriating and taking advantage of it

I really hope that when people read articles that are like, "People of this minority group are telling you not to [insert something pertaining to said minority group]," please use your brain and take it with a grain of salt and don't accept everything you read as truth.
#rambles#just because someone screams really loudly about something doesn't mean that it's true#i cannot emphasize this enough#i lose track of the amount of articles that are like#'dont visit hawaii! natives do not want you here!!!!!!!'#'the tourism industry does not help natives at all!!!!!!'#like tourism is literally the backbone of the economy#it's hawaii's main moneymaker#how is that not 'helping the natives'#most locals do not care if tourists come#all we ask is do not be rude and respect the land and culture#what i am trying to say is that don't take articles you read online as the voice for a people#yes some natives don't want people here#but i cannot deny that a lot of that rhetoric has shades of racial hatred behind it#i'd say a good 99% of the time they're talking about 'tourists' they're talking about specifically white ppl#when in reality i want to say a good amount of tourists are asian#ugh#i just really hate articles like that#'dont do this because this minority group hates it!'#literally who said that and why are you not capturing the voices of people that disagree?#reminds me of the time i got almost banned from the asian american subreddit for saying pacific islanders are not asian during aapi month#because my words could be 'upsetting' to people#like literally what?
