i have an issue I see with ppl trying to make shippers "understand" their ship could not become canon, and I dont think many would expect it.

Why are we pretending being in your late 30s is being middle age? Dont get me wrong, being a middle aged person doesn't have to mean anything about someone, but its just- not middle age literally.

I dont really understand bringing that up anyways, iit feels wrong to me to believe just ppl in their teens and 20s could ever do anything pro LGBT+ in general... I find it insulting, as if this is a new thing or impossible to believe older people could believe in queerness in a positive light or be queer themselves. The main reason in the west, and im assuming other parts of the world, there arent as many or as visible is, well, because people were dying because of the AIDS crisis + the isolation from being older and every single public space made for or just young queers or cishet older adults.

I get the point, but if I remember correctly every time I see someone trying to do that (of course im believing they have the best intentions in mind), they have to bring up how this is a Japanese middle aged man as a good enough reason.

I don't really mind about what others want to believe or how much they care in terms of shipping -if you prefer to be casual and not paying that much attention to what's canon or not, good for you! Many ppl are also like that and its completely valid, here in this side of Tumblr might seem like all of us believe and theorize about their endgame potential bc we are the ones that usually make more posts or longer content. But I dont like those assumptions about queerness being tied to young westerners, and I wanted to rant a little bit.

Again, I dont believe that was the intention in any of those posts, and im not trying to call out anyone, just rant.

Ways You Can Refer To The Man Being Inaugurated On Monday Other Than "President":

-45.

Pros: A popular one, this one acknowledges him as the 45th President, but not as the 47th (after his disqualification for insurrection).

Cons: A bit subtle, the point might go unnoticed.

-P01135809 (his prisoner number from his Georgia arrest/mugshot).

Pros: Reminds people that he is a felon, addresses him by one of the few titles (along with "defendant," and "convicted felon") that he has actually earned.

Cons: Again, may be a bit obscure to those who don't follow political news closely enough to get the reference.

-FOTUS (instead of POTUS). Ie, Felon of the United States.

Pros: Again, underscores his criminality, and replaces the title of "President". Also emphasizes the complicity of the country as a whole in being led by a criminal.

I have been using "Felon-Elect" instead of President-Elect during the transition period.

Cons: Same as above, if its not widely-used people might not get it.

AVOID name-calling based on body-shaming or medical conditions, ie "Dumpty," "Dementia Don," or other references to his age or infirmity or weight, wearing adult diapers/incontinence, etc. "Drumpf" is also likely best avoided, as it is IIRC his family's name before immigrating to the US long ago, and therefore may be taken as stigmatizing immigrants/his heritage.

These insults not only take the focus off of the most pertinent issues, ie his fascism and criminality and Constitutional illegitimacy to be President under the 14th Amendment section 3, but also use appearance, disability, physical or mental illness or other identities as as pejorative/punchline. Thus not only targeting him, but everyone with those conditions/identities. In fact, by focussing on those traits rather than his criminality and fascism, it applies that someone possessing those conditions or identities is somehow WORSE/more insulting than being a criminal and fascist.

(Now, I will admit that I've been known to do some of these in the past, in particular to make cracks about his dick and overcompensation for it, and while I do think there's a valid point about his insecurities and toxic masculinity, that's probably not the most effective way to do it, and these days I prefer to focus on his actual acts.)

I want to stress here that the point of not simply petty name-calling. The point is to refuse to recognize his legitimacy as President, to break the mental habit we are slipping into of normalizing a fascist dictator and Constitutionally disqualified insurrectionist.
