I've been flicking through Gaelic Proverbs and Proverbial Sayings (1926) by T. D. MacDonald, and there are some crackers, especially when it comes to the clans.
Leathaineach gun bhòsd Dòmhnullach gun tapadh, Is Caimbeulach gun mhòr-chuis, Tri nithean tha ainemh. A MacLean without boast, A MacDonald without cleverness, A Campbell without pride- Three rarities.
Heh.
Spagadagliog Chloinn Dòmhnuill, Agus leòm nan Leathainich The MacDonald swagger, And the MacLean airs.
So, what I'm getting is that the MacDonalds and MacLeans were all gallus bastards. XD
Cha bhi gean air Granndaich gus am faigh iad lìte. Grants are never gracious till they get their porridge.
Not morning people, then? (Me neither.)
Camaranaich bhog an ime is sliomaran a chàise. The Camerons - soft as butter and fawning for cheese.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?? Would be great to work into a Heron fic!
And, oh, I am definitely working this into a Kidnapped fic somewhere:
Stiùbhairtich, cinne nan righ ’s nan ceàird. Stewarts, the race of kings and tinkers.
I guess there must've been lots of Stewarts who went around reminding everyone that they bear A King's Name™. :D

Some women even develop an unusual taste for non-food items such as soil or paper. This is called ‘pica’ and may indicate a nutrient deficiency. Please speak to your GP or midwife if this develops.
so what constitutes "non-food" when the woman in question is already a vore fetishist XD

Presenting my preliminary grant research for the big exhibit coming up in 2 years today. Lots of potential new opportunities and connections to make. I was also lucky this exhibit ends up running right into two areas of interest of mine!

The Mummy AU
Tumblr media
sooooo about that Mummy au that has taken over my mind. Steve is a mix of Rick and Jonathan, Nancy is Rick, Robin is Evy, Eddie is Ardeth Bay (or as I called him when I didn’t know his name, Sexy Desert Man). And I’m already like... I guess I’ll also have to record it XD.
I printed the full script at work, so much paper, I’m a paper and ink thief in order to create this. I split the script (which has a couple fun deleted scenes) into 8 parts. 8 chapters.
The super fun thing today though. I was looking for a newspaper or magazine in the 1920s that Nancy could try to be writing for and wouldn’t you know it. There’s a magazine called Egypt and the Sudan that published 10 articles by women in the interwar period. How fucking perfect is that? I am deceased. The art is a cover from the magazine!
This discovery made me excited about Nancy, and then I was like.... maybe I should do Robin pov and Steve pov, and make it TWO love stories. Then I asked my lesbian best friend, and got a very enthusiastic “you had better fucking do it” so now I’m wondering if I’m writing two 8 chapter stories I post simultaneously, an 8 chapter story with alternating pov, or a 16 chapter story that splits each chapter into a Steve chapter and a Robin chapter.
Also, the kids are the American characters turned nerdy archeologists and they’re being led to Hamunaptra by Tommy and Billy

The fun part about getting into Civil War history is that you don't have to dig all that deep before you learn that the Union was just as racist as the Confederacy

Undisclosed location:
My assigned NSA agent: Oh no. We’ve got searched for organized crime and examples of extortion. What does that mean?
His supervisor, previously assigned to me before threatening early retirement: Her meds are working better or not at all. Either way, you’re going to need Advil and Red Bull.

I’m seeking to document my research into self-teaching/building my own classical education curriculum to homeschool oneself in the fields of Classical Liberal/ Literature Arts as well as Languages. (For my personal and career life goals)
I will be posting my first video soon! I’m tirelessly doing research at the moment for it. It will be touching on everything more in-depth and how so I’m connecting with things for myself along with a document I’ll share with many free resources to help you do the same so you can join me on this journey!
Let’s do this together!!!!!
Please follow my YouTube as once I start posting I intend to keep that ball rolling but only as consistently as I can and will try to keep in touch. I hope you look forward to this as much as I do!!! And I hope you can stick with me as I grow my channel into what I hope for it to be.
(Be sure to check out my kofi since I posted more about things there already😉🤙🏻I have other topics I will be sharing information on as my knowledge grows but am sharing what I’ve come to find and will/have utilized from the beginning now so that those more knowledgeable than myself can help drop some information our way. Let’s all just help each other as best we can and be nice 😊 👍🏻 )

The subsoil was a loathsome glacial till of an uncommon and malicious inconsistency...
Local archaeologist has some very strong feelings about the ground he's digging in. 😂😂😂
(Trevor Watkins, 'Saint Germains enclosure, Tranent, East Lothian', 1982, if you're wondering.)

Stupid? Nah, that's one of the best parts. History, language, geography, design - I love it.
fanfiction is so unbelievably stupid you’ll be like oh i want to write about some finctional dudes and suddenly you’re knee deep in two hundred year old inheritance laws

okay i am a bit add about sherlock but
Am I the only one who noticed on my (n+1)th rewatch of Sherlock that Moriarty has an Irish accent and Sherlock is English(clearly) and that was probably deliberate? I mean, did anyone else look up what actually happened in the UK in 1972? (Mycroft mentioned 1972 at one point during a scene in the Diogenes). Did anyone notice that the 'cereal killer' somewhat resembles Jimmy Savile? (There's a documentary about him on Netflix, I watched it last night. Very illuminating, especially about 'please jim, will you fix it so I can...'
I like to look stuff up. This is why I always watch with a computer.
