Inspired by neuroscientist Paul MacLean’s triune brain model, Reptile Brain puts humanity’s primal instincts front and center, over our emotions and rational thoughts.

You know what's sad? Because western discourse is shaped by the post-vietnam* attitude towards war and soldiers, his torturous death will have meant nothing for these people. Sure, most westerners feel bad about deaths of Ukrainian civilians, especially children - you have to be a real reptilebrain not to - but when it comes to our soldiers, it's almost as you think that brutal torture comes with the territory. Or maybe it's the poisonous effort of articles slandering Azov, and now people think that the entirety of ZSU is made up of literal ww2 nazis... 😓 I just know that every time our civilians get massively killed, we manage to convince our western partners to send us more weapons. It's like a bloody requisite for the fucking application. But our soldiers? Idk. Why do you think people lose their humanity once they put on the uniform? They defend our homes, they are literally the only reason all of us, myself included, are alive today... Only to feel even more pain, all this pain...

Read an interesting article the other day about our inability to stop scrolling and the reptile brain. (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/jan/09/scrolling-lizard-brain-primitive-mechanisms) The idea of the reptile brain is synonymous with our primitive brain. It is the part of our mind which is only interested in 'base' desires and fulfilment. We all have this reptilian brain nestled beneath our more superior, emotive brain which compel us to continue on auto-pilot, stay in our routines and find fleeting, instant gratification in snacking and doom scrolling. It's fascinating the idea that whilst we are aware of this, we choose not to rebel against it. Even if the actions we make because of it don't make us happy it provides comfort and that's good enough - right? It is uncomfortable to challenge problematic patterns, ideas or actions. If it's not hurting anyone else why should we face the challenge? This then leads to the question of why we don't see ourselves at the same level as others - why is it acceptable to treat ourselves badly? Everything I've learnt with mindfulness, Buddhism and meditation is about challenging this comfort, routine and auto-pilot. Being mindful about our lives and decisions. I have become almost a different person through it and for the better. I challenge you to read the article and have a think about the above questions. Do you have any automatic comforts? ||A "fetch" happens when someone sees a person while the person is actually somewhere else. It's not entirely a doppelganger. It's a known but rare phenomenon and isn't entirely known to be malevolent so you might want to take a deep breath because I think it's just a weird thing that happens. But if you're really scared maybe try some anti-curse herbs that even non-witches can use safely. I can send you a list of some good ones?

Black Hat is confused, if not startled, when a strange vibrating noise goes off on his nightstand. A fist comes down, smashing the alarm clock, but it doesn’t stop. Guess it wasn’t the clock.
