Do you know that moment, when someone calls you from another room, and then you answer, only to be treated like nobody called you? Isn't that irritating? Well, it is the same with God. He explicitly commanded not to take His Name in vain. His Name is holy, as He is holy, and making His holy Name into something common is a sin. Not only does one provoke God in this way, but he also desecrates His Holy Name, showing Him no love, nor to His Name. Are we to conform to this ungodly world and treat our Heavenly Father with such contempt?

You Forgave the Iniquity of My Sin Of David. A Maskil.
1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.
4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5 I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.
11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart. — Psalm 32 | King James Version (KJV) The King James Version Bible is in the public domain Cross References: Genesis 19:16; Genesis 24:48; Exodus 15:1; Leviticus 26:40; Judges 5:1; Ruth 1:13; Job 30:11; Psalm 7:10; Psalm 18:16; Psalm 22:1; Psalm 25:8; Psalm 31:10; Psalm 46:1; Psalm 64:10; Matthew 6:12; John 1:47; Acts 13:11; Romans 2:9; Romans 4:7-8; 2 Corinthians 5:19; James 3:3; 1 John 1:9

Sunday Service Heart Highlight:
September 29th, 2024
Scripture & Service Highlight:
Romans 10:8-10 NIV
"But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
Scripture goes into the heart and power comes out of your mouth. It will accomplish what it set out to do.
~~~~~
Not only is this true in our confession of faith, this is true for all of the words that come out of our mouths. There are many scriptures throughout The Bible that tell us about the power of our words. Remember the saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" ? Well that was a straight up lie not only according to scripture but in human experience too. Our words have power and will produce whatever we speak, life or death (Proverbs 18:21). That's why it's so important for us to watch our words and to seek The Lord first and foremost. To stay dedicated in growing in the word and allowing The Holy Spirit to guide us in how to walk in this life with Jesus.
If you're ever wondering where your believing is, listen to what you're saying. When I find myself speaking fear or doubt I know that somewhere along the way I took my eyes off of Jesus. But praise The Lord that even in that moment, I can pray to Him and turn my eyes back to Him. That at that moment I can ask The Holy Spirit to lead me to the scripture that I need to be confessing over the situation and bring the power of His light to fight off the darkness.
And for those who believe and are ready to make that confession of faith, that Jesus is Lord, gather with other believers in your community and tell them! Make that confession in the midst of like minded faith, and be ready to rejoice! Be ready for the celebration that will not only happen in the midst of your brothers and sisters in Christ here on earth, but also in heaven, what a party it will be!
Hallelujah!
Also, I would love to know so I can celebrate with you too!!!
"The beginning of salvation is to condemn oneself" (Evagius)
Repentance marks the starting point of our journey. The Greek term metanoia, signifies primarily 'a change of mind'. Correctly understood, repentance is not a negative but positive. It means, not self-pity or remorse, but conversion, the re-centering of our whole life upon the Trinity. It is to look, not backward with regret, but forward with hope -- not downwards at our own shortcomings, but upwards at God's love. It is to see, not what we have failed to be, but what by divine grace we can now become; and it is to act upon what we see. To repent is to open our eyes to the light. In this sense, repentance is not just a single act, an initial step, but a continuing state, an attitude of heart and will that needs to be ceaselessly renewed up to the end of life. In the words of St Isaias of Sketis, 'God requires us to go on repenting until our last breath'.
In today's parable, we hear about a vineyard owner who had two sons. He said to one to work in the vineyard that day, which he rejected, but later repented and worked. The second son though accepted, but didn't go. This is the world today. There are many who say they're righteous, because they say "yes" to God, but they sadly are not aware of the fact that the do not do His Will. Whereas we see many who were rebellious against God repenting and turning to Him, while those who are religious see this and do not repent. Just like in the days of Jesus, there were many sinners who went to John the Baptist to repent, and the Pharisees saw this happen, but didn't repent of their sins. And just as Jesus said for the Pharisees, so does this message go for the professing self-righteous "Christians" of this age: "They go into the Kingdom of heaven before you." So who are we of the two sons - the one who repented upon rebellion, or the one thinking he does right but neglects the Father?
An Exhortation to Repentance
Return, Israel, to the Lord your God, because your sins have brought you down.
"In St. John’s vision of the New Heaven and Earth he says:
They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. (Rev 22:4)
That name of God was made known to Moses, after he had removed his shoes (the false self). The name is: ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ὤν. 'I am the Truly Existing One.' All icons of Christ have this name inscribed on them. At the world’s end, God will write this name on us." ~Fr. Stephen Freeman
It is not our daily experience, however, that this faith is very seldom ours, that all the time we lose and betray the "new life" which we received as a gift, and that in fact we live as if Christ did not rise from the dead, as if that unique event had no meaning whatsoever for us? All this because of our weakness, because of the impossibility for us to live constantly by "faith, hope, and love" on that level to which Christ raised us when He said: "Seek ye, first of all, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness." We simply forget all this -- so busy are we, so immersed in our daily preoccupations -- and because we forget, we fail. And through this forgetfulness, failure, and sin, our life becomes "old" again -- petty, dark and ultimately meaningless -- a meaningless journey toward a meaningless end. We manage to forget even death and then, all of a sudden, in the midst of our "enjoying life" it comes to us: horrible, inescapable, senseless. We may from time to time acknowledge and confess our various "sins," yet we cease to refer our life to that new life which Christ revealed and gave to us. Indeed, we live as if He never came. This is the only real sin, the sin of all sins, the bottomless sadness and tragedy of our nominal Christianity.
