Edelcrits being Lesbophobic Take 2:
Okay, so remember my blogpost about that guy with very colorful opinions about sibling on sibling relationships being asked to pass judgement on whether or not Lesbians are wrong about liking Edelgard? Yes, the Edelcritical Lesbophobia just intensified
Aka Dimitris Lethal Cock, somebody who praises Azure Gleam as Gay and lies about being a LGBT Safespace while deliberately misgendering people on other blogpost of theirs. So yeah, I think it doesn't need to be said that we can automatically dismiss this person speaking for sapphic and lesbian women. I guess what they mean is that lesbians should learn to behave and start to demand androcentric stories that values male relationship in a way that cisheterosexual women can read faux-queer relationships tailored to their heteronormative tastes out of it without offending the cisheterosexual male fanbase? Because lets be honest, this is the majority of queer subtext in the Azure Routes and Azure Gleam even doubles down on it by sidelining Dedue in favor of putting more emphasis to Dimitris Relationship with the white weeb twink.
But yeah, this post is really written by somebody who does not understand sapphic women, probably never interacted with a transfem lesbian their entire live and clearly has some extensive prejudice against sapphics which are widespread in Fandoms, because these kinds of debates always end in bashing the sapphics or their media. Because otherwise they would take back a step and notice...that Edelgard is very much in line with the typical fandom favs of sapphics?
Because lesbians don't want and probably hate whatever you consider to be better and most sapphic fans probably would immediately drop the series if you had any say in what to creat tbh? We are talking about some vile weirdo who seems to be into Azure Gleam after all, lol. I already made my point clear why Edelgard resonates with Sapphics. Her design, her personality and narrative are a super strong match, which is just further supported by also having Dorothea right next to her, another sapphic fav with strong feminist themes in her narrative.
Ultimately, I really recommend especially trans Edelgard Fans to stay away from this person as they seem to be quite nefarious, as I mentioned, I've seen them already deliberately misgendering members of the Edelgard discord, I assume in order to move forward their strawman, that Edelgard Fans are only men.

What do you make of some of the tumblr presidential fan accounts and their activities? Shitposting, fanart, bizarre headcanons, etc?
There are A LOT of those fan sites about the Presidents and the Presidency on Tumblr! I'm shocked at the sheer number of them that have been popping up over the past few years. I don't follow very many other Tumblrs, but they are frequently recommended to me on my dashboard and I often see my stuff being reblogged by them, so I do notice them and know what you are referencing. I usually don't follow them, but it's not because I'm some sort of history snob. I've just never followed all that many blogs here on Tumblr. Some of those Presidential fan sites on Tumblr can be weird and seem to have some goofy posts and reblogs that I just don't "get", but that's normally just due to the fact that I'm old and boring and socially incompetent. Even though I'm probably one of the OGs of Presidential history blogs on Tumblr because I started Dead Presidents in 2008 (!!!), my site has always been pretty normal, straightforward history for those 15+ years. For the first few years, I even tried to steer away from being too political because I worried it would interfere with the credibility of the history writing I was publishing on Tumblr. That all changed in 2015 when I couldn't stay on the sidelines as Trumpism started taking over. But my Tumblr has always been mostly conventional, and a lot of those Presidential fan sites are very much unconventional.
I think because of that the assumption would be that I'm annoyed or dismissive of the Presidential fan Tumblrs that you mentioned because of how unconventional they can be. However, that's not the case at all. I actually think it's really fucking cool that so many young people -- and most of those Presidential fandom Tumblrs belong to really young people -- are into history, especially Presidential history, so much that they've shaped their own little universe about it. There's some really creative stuff that I've seen when sites are recommended and pop up on my dashboard. I'm particularly impressed by the Presidential fan art that a lot of these kids are posting. They are having fun and they are finding unique ways to expand history literacy, which has always been one of my main goals for creating Dead Presidents in the first place, posting original writing, and answering questions over the years.
Again, some of the stuff goes completely over my head and I don't understand the memes because I'm old, but I still think it's really cool that people are finding their own path into the field of Presidential history -- a subject I've spent most of my life interested in and hopeful that I might be able to interest others in. And, despite what a lot of those fan sites might look like at first-glance or appear to be while quickly skimming through dashboard recommendations, a lot of these kids who are curating the sites genuinely know their shit! It's great and I'm excited by the idea that there are creators finding new ways to introduce these subjects and these endlessly fascinating stories to diverse new audiences.
At its core, history is always just a collection of connected stories about people, and with so many talented young folks finding and creating original ways of telling those stories I want to support and encourage those efforts. From what I can tell, there are a lot of these Presidential fan sites that follow me on Tumblr because I've been around forever and it's pretty easy to remember that I write about the Presidency because of my blog's name. This might make me sound even more ancient than I already am and nobody needs my validation to keep doing what they are already doing well and successfully, but I'm proud to see the work that those young people are doing to further their own interests in Presidential history and inspire history literacy through their own creativity. Those memes and fan art can animate and energize far different -- and newer -- audiences than my 3,000-word essays about Presidential history and that's so important. They are appealing to demographics that I can't reach as easily and in ways that I never would have thought of, and I'm always going to be an advocate for that (even if I never understand the memes!). And the most important part is that they are having fun exploring history and making history fun for new explorers.

Re: 💌
Finally getting to respond to those who were so kind to me in messages, comments, and reblogs in the past week! @otomiya-tickles was a blog with mainly tickle fics, but you guys definitely made it feel like there was more to it :)

I’ve been following the development of yandere simulator from the sidelines for years and years, since nearly the beginning of the project. I don’t know that I ever considered myself an actual “fan” considering I never actually played the game or joined the fandom— I really just watched the development videos, read the posts on the development blog and checked up on it from time to time out of curiosity because I found the concept of the game itself morbidly intriguing as well as being interested by such an open development process. And every few months I would remember it existed and check back to see how far along it was, growing ever more amazed with every passing year that it still wasn’t even close to being finished.
I would also check out the game’s official website and was fascinated by the debunk page the dev put up. It seemed so odd and out of place and full of the most ridiculous things. What were people looking into the game for the first time supposed to think upon seeing an extensive page full of weird drama like that, running into it on the official game website?
I still found the game concept interesting, even if I knew I myself would never play it. I knew I would probably watch letsplays of it to sate my curiosity if it ever came out. And so I was ambivalent about the dev himself because I could pretty easily separate him from my casual interest in the game. I thought of him as a guy with some interesting ideas who was really really really bad at planning and prioritizing and delegation and receiving criticism and dealing with hate… and though I didn’t admire him, I felt sympathy for him. Nobody’s perfect, right? And I still do think people that did things like send him pictures of gore and animal abuse or told him to kill himself were doing unforgivable things for petty enjoyment.
And so while I took a lot of his debunking with a grain of salt and eye rolling when it was obvious he was in the wrong despite frustrating circumstances pushing him to say stupid things, I also figured it wasn’t that big a deal and everyone was getting up in arms over things that ultimately didn’t matter. And when I would see YandereDev hate crop up, discussing the long development time, his inefficient code, his continued Patreon earnings… I rolled my eyes at that too, figuring that people were piling on some ultimately harmless dude who was taking forever to release a game he was letting people play for free so it didn’t really matter. Again, as I was really only a casual observer from the sidelines, I didn’t look deeply into anything and I simply made assumptions.
I don’t even know what compelled me to visit the development blog this week, but I was immediately met with his “I’m Sorry” blog post, which obviously caught my attention— as I’m sure it caught the attention of thousands of people just like me who only had a casual interest in the game and developer and held a neutral stance on the guy himself.
I read it. I’d read tons of his debunking and drama-addressing posts over the years where he went over all the intricacies of whatever latest thing he’d been accused of and pointed the blame elsewhere. But this was different. He was sorry, he was taking accountability, he was admitting that he screwed up and did something so horribly wrong that it was costing him all his volunteers and supporters. This was huge. This is undoubtedly the final nail in the coffin for the game at last.
But of course, as I read it, I thought “wow, that’s terrible. But at least he finally had the guts to own up to it and really apologize, which is more than most people in his position do— and more than he’s ever done in the past when addressing controversies. Sucks for him that a mistake like that ruined all these long years of work… but at least he seems to realize it was his own doing, and hopefully now he can get some help and change for the better, blah blah blah”.
Basically, exactly the reaction he was hoping to draw from neutral parties like me. He presented everything so perfectly. Admitting right off the bat that he messed up. Explaining the situation and interjecting to remind the audience that what he did was not okay despite the justifications he found himself making. Making a large donation with the caveat that he knew it didn’t erase what he did and that actions speak louder than words. And then linking to the victim’s statement she made stating that she approached him, that she does not feel traumatized, and that the video accusing him was posted against her wishes and she thinks that everything got blown out of proportion.
With no further context than that, it’s a pretty cut and dry case, right? He made a huge mistake, owned up to it, made a sizable donation, and the victim wasn’t a victim at all and the one making the callout in the first place was disrespecting and hurting the victim by posting whatever video it was he was referring to. But there’s no need to watch the video because he already explained himself thoroughly in the blog post. And anyway, searching for the video and watching it will only fuel the flames and make things worse for the victim!
And so anyone reading that post, who had not heard of any of the allegations beforehand, would obviously come away from it thinking YandereDev made the mistake of becoming platonic friends with a 16 year old girl and invited her to group voice chats where he and his adult friends made inappropriate jokes with each other, never really considering the implications of the 16 year old in their midst hearing their jokes. And that the girl’s friends pressured her into releasing a manipulative video on a drama channel that took his jokes out of context in order to gain clout and take down a guy they hated for the views. And that these fake friends manipulated her and disrespected her wishes and ruined her life and are the real villains of this whole story. Because YandereDev took accountability and apologized and admitted it was all true.
He did this expecting that everyone who saw the blog post first would not seek out the video. Because you would be horrible if you did, right? The victim didn’t want it out there! And anyway, Dev already admitted to making these jokes and agreed that it wasn’t okay! So there’s no point in watching the video unless, of course, you’re morbidly curious about what exactly he said that was being construed as so bad that all his volunteers and voice actors are finally cutting ties with him for good.
Well, I was morbidly curious.
And despite feeling guilty for seeking out the video that the victim apparently didn’t want out there, I found myself searching for it anyway. And I found it immediately. And upon clicking it, several things became immediately obvious.
YandereDev said it was made by a drama YouTuber, but one look at her channel told me she was a gaming YouTuber and scrolling through her videos, it was obvious that she had never posted anything like this before. So already, I had been misled on one point. Then upon reading the pinned comment, it became obvious that the video had, at one point, been taken down by the victim’s request… and then reuploaded also at her request. The victim had changed her mind and now supported the video, which YandereDev did not see fit to update his blog readers on, happy to let them continue believing that the victim did not support the callout and didn’t want anyone seeing the video. So now, relieved of my guilt and suspicious of these two counts of manipulation on YandereDev’s part that became immediately obvious upon a few seconds of research, I watched the video.
And it’s amazing how having the full context of a situation can make you do a complete 180.
Upon watching the video, hearing the voice chats for myself, and— most damning— reading the Snapchat logs… it was incredibly obvious that YandereDev had completely downplayed and misrepresented the situation to put himself in a less heinous light. Because it’s one thing to make the mistake of letting a teenager overhear you and your friends make some dirty jokes together because you consider them a platonic friend who’s “one of the guys”— which is how he described the situation on his blog. It’s another thing entirely to have a private voice chat with a 16 year old girl (who is implicitly high on presumably marijuana and unable to legally consent to anything— regardless of age) and repeatedly call her cute (unprompted), tell her that she’s hot because she’s skinny (unprompted), ask if she wants to take your virginity, repeatedly ask in a teasing tone if you’re a “bad guy” for talking to her that way, and then (unprompted) go on a long ramble about how puberty sexualizes minors and implicitly say that it’s okay for people to find children sexy as soon as they begin developing breasts and wide hips because that’s how nature works. Which he did not mention on his blog post.
What he also did not mention were the Snapchat logs where he was again having a completely private conversation with a 16 year old girl completely devoid of these “guys” that she was apparently “one of”. He did not mention that he privately told a 16 year old girl that being attracted to a 17 year old was 96% okay and acceptable. He did not mention that he privately told a 16 year old girl that it would be erotic if she sent him videos of herself dressing/undressing. He did not mention that he privately told a 16 year old girl that if she sent nudes to him that he would keep them a secret. He did not mention that he privately told a 16 year old girl who was offering to send him nude photos that he couldn’t explicitly ask for her to send him nudes, but that he liked hot ladies, wink wink. He did not mention that he privately told a 16 year old girl that he was not emotionally available for a romantic relationship and that the only thing he could get out of their continued correspondence were photos of her for him to masturbate to.
But, you know. Those are the exact same sorts of jokes he probably makes with all his 30-something guy friends all the time, right? I can just picture him telling his goofy man friends that it would be erotic if they sent him videos of themselves undressing for him to masturbate to. Goofy jokes! He pals around with his friends like that all the time, and it’s really no different that he said the same things to a 16 year old girl! He wasn’t even thinking about the implications of such goofy silly jokes! Which is why he repeatedly brought up her age and promised to keep things a secret and responded to her concerns about child porn and mentioned that if she kept screenshots of the conversation she could use them to condemn him someday! Silly jokes he did not realize the implications of!
So by this time I’m obviously horrified, right? As any normal human being would be. Sick to my stomach that I almost rolled my eyes and went on with my day thinking YandereDev was a flawed person who ultimately wanted to make up for a dumb mistake he made that could have happened to anybody— exactly what he hoped I would do. And then I got to the part where he started begging the victim not to let the video get released.
And that was the most damning of all. It’s sickly funny how he linked to the victim’s Reddit statement where she showed screenshots of Ally begging her to go through with the video, calling her words disgusting and manipulative. Even if Ally WAS being manipulative… you only need to compare it to what YandereDev said to the victim to see how night and day it is. I’m not gonna pretend anybody in this situation is 100% perfectly blameless and made perfect decisions… but there is somebody who is very clearly MORE in the wrong. To the point where he was coaching her on what to say to her friends, weaponizing her status as the victim. Did he seriously not understand the irony of telling her to say “It is my right as the victim and what I say goes, no questions asked”? I don’t even need to go into any of it because all you have to do is watch it and everything becomes disgustingly crystal clear.
Which is why YandereDev didn’t want anybody to watch it. Because anybody that did would come to the correct conclusion that he’s a disgusting predator. But he couldn’t stop the video from coming out and he knew it was impossible to deny the truth of the recordings… and he did damage control in the most effective way he could. When his last-ditch desperate effort to manipulate the victim into stopping the video from coming out failed, he had to issue an apology. And it had to be a good one. One that was good enough that nobody would look further into the situation. One that was good enough that people wouldn’t bother to search for the video and hear the recordings and see his words for themselves. One that made himself out to be a guy who made a stupid mistake— a mistake easy to sympathize with and understand— that he was horrified by and taking full accountability for. And once people see that, they take him at his word. After all, he clearly has nothing to hide considering he admitted to it, right?
Thank god for morbid curiosity.
Anyway… all of this to say that because of my experience, I felt like all his fans and supporters who were fooled by him deserved to know the full truth and come to their own conclusions like I did. After all, you look through the comments on his blog post and they’re full of people who were just like me: disappointed, but ultimately respecting that he owned up to his mistake and believing he can get better, so they’re still supporting him. People who want to believe the best in others. People who believe people can change. People who dislike cancel culture. People who ultimately have good intentions. People who I think would change their tunes real quick if they actually saw the video.
And so, after years of following the blog from the sidelines, I finally made my first post, making sure to word it as neutrally as possible and in a way that would get even blind supporters to consider the idea:
“I believe that most of the people in this comment section— and browsing the comments without leaving any themselves— are good people. That they are sympathetic and empathetic and ultimately want to do the right thing and make the right calls. I believe that of most people in general. I think it’s a noble thing to forgive when you’ve been wronged. Of course, none of us have been personally wronged in this situation, so it is not actually up to us to do any forgiving, only to pass judgment for ourselves and make decisions as to how we personally feel and wish to proceed.
So to anyone reading this comment: I believe that, most likely, you consider yourself a reasonable, rational, independent individual who is able to look at all the facts of a situation and come to your own conclusions independently. And so you’ve read this apology and you’ve also likely looked at the screenshots he linked of the victim’s statement and drawn your conclusions from there.
But if you really want to consider yourself truly informed— If you really want to be sure you have all the facts so nobody can try and upset you by claiming you don’t know what’s going on— I strongly encourage you to watch the video he is referring to and listen to the voice recordings and read the Snapchat logs for yourself. Even if it is only to confirm for yourself that the video is indeed edited in a manipulative way and so you can find more out about this mysterious YouTuber who uploaded it and draw your own conclusions as to why she did it. I encourage you to watch it in its entirety, as I am sure you read YandereDev’s apology in its entirety. It is likely that many who have seen the video have not bothered to read YandereDev’s response or read the victim’s Reddit comments. If only to get a leg up on such people, I encourage everyone here to see for themselves what the other side of this situation is saying. Only then will you be able to decide fully for yourself to put your support behind YandereDev and his game. If you come to this conclusion independently upon seeing all sides of the situation, it will only serve to make your support all the stronger. Of course, there is a chance that upon seeing all the evidence, you may also independently decide that you do not accept the apology and wish to withdraw your support. You will never know unless you watch the video and know the situation in its entirety instead of only seeing part of the conversation. I believe none of you willingly want to be part of an echo chamber.
He did not link to the video, but the one he is referring to is by a YouTuber named AllyMcC. She does not appear to be a drama YouTuber, but appears to be a gaming YouTuber. As far as I can tell, this is the only video of this nature she has ever posted on this particular channel, having only posted LetsPlays before this. The video was taken down at the request of the victim, but then put back up also by request of the victim if the screenshots she provided in the pinned comment can be believed. So if you are worried you are harming the victim by watching the video, it seems that she no longer disapproves of the video and now supports it. The video is called “The New Allegations and Evidence Against YandereDev”. It is easy to find through YouTube’s search function.
YandereDev admits here in this post that everything he said aloud and typed as shown in this video is real. In his edit discussing fake screenshots, he seems to be referring to ones cropping up in other videos discussing the situation such as a Discord screenshot of his discussions with a 12 year old involving her period, which has been proven to be fake. Another one you might see in other videos is one where he suggests giving people free merch if they provide him with nude photographs, which has also been proven to be fake. Neither of these false screenshots are used in AllyMcC’s video. Everything in her video was admitted here in this very blog post to be real things that he said, including the Snapchat logs. If the Snapchat logs were fake, I believe wholeheartedly that YandereDev would have mentioned it here, as he is historically very thorough about debunking anything he didn’t actually say. If you believe his apology, then you must also believe his admission that he really said everything showcased in the video.
All of that said, I again encourage anyone reading this comment that has not watched the video to look into it and come to your own conclusion for your own peace of mind one way or another. The only way truth can prevail is by looking at every single piece of evidence provided so that falsehoods can be sorted out. Please watch the video and read the entirety of YandereDev’s blog post. Only then will you have the full story. There is obviously a lot of nuance to the situation and many shades of grey, but I believe that people deserve to see everything and sort out for themselves how they feel. Neither YandereDev nor AllyMcC can tell you how you feel or what action to take, or whether to forgive or not to forgive, support or not support. Only you can, by making a fully informed decision.
I hope this comment is not deleted, as it is only meant to encourage the readers of this blog to see the situation in its entirety and independently decide how they feel from there.”
My comment never made it past moderation. I suppose it makes sense. The whole point of the blog post was worded very specifically to manipulate readers into NOT searching for the video and coming to their own conclusions… so a comment actively encouraging this could not ever be allowed lest YandereDev lose the few supporters he has left. If you look through the comments that DID survive moderation, you will see they are uniformly supportive. Many of them express that they are disappointed, that what he did was wrong… but ultimately they’re glad he apologized and hope the game can continue and that they understand everyone makes mistakes and can move on from them. Of the current 377 comments on the blog that haven’t been censored, not a single one of them provides any indication that the commenter watched the video, and that they took YandereDev’s blog post and his link to the victim’s Reddit thread at complete face value. However, there are comments expressing that somebody should make an exposé on ALLY to show how manipulative SHE is… which is hilarious, as that would involve watching her video. So I hope people see that comment and think “I should do that, I better gather evidence” and end up watching the video and seeing the context they missed.
Anyway, this has been long and rambling, but this whole thing has been swirling around in my head for the past 3 days and I really just needed to get it all out. Moral of the story is… It’s important to do your research, people. No matter how much you think you know, no matter how little you think you can learn from someone you’re positive you won’t agree with, it always pays to get all sides of a story before committing to a position.

hey, I have a question!!
First of all, thank you so much for all of your hard work and effort to save our beloved show! You guys help us so much, huge thank you, truly.
So I was just wondering, so many popular netflix shows were cancelled and I still remember the huge noise the cancellation of those shows caused. Like for example Anne With An E and Warrior Nun, the whole internet moved for them and still, they weren't picked up by another streaming service.
Do you think our show really stands a chance? 🥺 /gen
Hi Anon! Thank you for this question and for your kind words!
It's true that whenever a show is cancelled -- especially a multi-season, popular show with a built-in fanbase like Anne With An E -- it seems like the whole internet is awash with cries of outrage, support, and, to be blunt, threats against the people who cancel it. Internet campaigning is as old as the internet, and even older than that if you count print media and letter writing campaigns before that. It's human nature to get loud about bad things, and Save-The-Show campaigns are more prone to that than most things, since media is a generally uniting and far-reaching force.
I will note that Warrior Nun's fans are still working towards a pick-up by Max (formerly HBOMax), so I'll leave them off of this comparison, as well as wishing them the best of luck.
To be blunt, yes our show really does stand a chance. I've been involved in more than my share of Save-The-Show campaigns over the last 15+ years, and I've never seen a response by people outside the fandom like this before. We're sitting at exactly 2 weeks since cancellation and we've had dozens of articles from entertainment, business, finance, and human interest magazines and sites alike, huge, sustained tweet numbers, trended every single day, joyful engagement by cast/crew/related persons, the works. It's not a level of response I've ever seen via a fan campaign, not in the ones I've been a part of and not in the ones I've seen from the sidelines.
Unlike a lot of unsuccessful campaigns, ours is entirely fan-led. I've said many times IRL over the last two weeks that I'd be vastly more worried if Cornish/CF/Stroud were leading this charge. If the show runners/creators/etc are the ones spearheading things, experience tells us that things are bleak from the get-go. This isn't a creator-led endeavor where the most noise comes from 4 or 5 people who directly profit off of the show; Joe Cornish posted once on Instagram (in a very ballsy move, I'll note, giving the fans numbers/graphics to use without directly showing his hand), the Strouds are mostly liking tweets and engaging in fan engagement to the side of the campaign (Stroud is careful never to use the #savelockwoodandco hashtag or any hashtag related to a particular streaming service), and the cast and crew of the show/CF are posting Lockwood & Co related videos and pictures without coming out as part of the #SaveLockwoodAndCo movement. To borrow a phrase, they're going carefully.
This is a good thing.
Networks and Streaming Sites don't care how passionate a creator, cast, or crew are. They don't care about how many people are mad a show is cancelled either. What they care about is exactly what we're working in this campaign to give them -- actionable data.
The AWAE cancellation is a good example, sadly. While it had a lot of enthusiasm -- I was on the sidelines for this, but I did heartily enjoy the show, and would have liked them to get enough time to finish the main story, rather than cutting it off and forcing a time skip as they did -- it didn't have the numbers. Not streaming hours or being generally known -- as a preexisting IP it was very well-known -- but sustained numbers post-cancellation. It had a lot of very angry (understandably) people, a few articles about the cancellation, and that was about it. The creators knew for at least part of the last season that it was unlikely they'd get another one, and wrapped up the major storyline (Anne and Gil) as best they could. It was a rushed ending (not quite Merlin levels of rushed, but definitely rushed), but it's a linear story from the books, and the story did end.
It's not enough to be angry in campaigns to save a show. Anger is a great short-term motivator, but for all but the most focused of us, anger burns out like a match -- hot at first, but rather useless very quickly. Recent and memorable (unnamed to avoid offense where none is intended) campaigns were filled with angry posts about betrayal by the network (completely understandably), but these campaigns didn't do what a successful campaign must: add numbers and news.
It's a testament to the strength of character in all of you -- the fandom -- that the immediate and understandable anger upon cancellation has died down, but our numbers have kept growing. The articles aren't about "it's so sad this show was cancelled" anymore, they're about fan engagement, they're about sheer business sense. The people of the press aren't writing because they're fans, or because it's today's story, but rather because Lockwood and Co has become a sort of symbol for what's wrong with the streaming industry and Netflix in particular. We're trending in Business and Finance as well as in Entertainment, for heaven's sake.
This show, according to all the numbers and Netflix's own statement, did well. It passed the figures it needed to be renewed.
But it wasn't. That's been our focus, and that's what's newsworthy. And we can only help it along by being genuine, passionate, and positive above all else.
This fandom has done an amazing job being polite, professional, empathetic, and collected. No one is ritually burning anything, no one is sending envelopes of razor blades or Purposely Mysterious White Powder to executives (yes, these have happened), no one is threatening physical harm to the poor interns in charge of Netflix's twitter, tumblr, instagram, tiktok, or, heck, LinkedIn or anything.
Our numbers are growing -- if you pay close attention to twitter like the other mod of this blog does, you'll note that people are discovering, watching, loving, and turning around and campaigning for this show through our hashtags and engagement. Having a show add so many people post-cancellation is a rare, rare thing -- people will generally stay away from a cancelled show, not watch it. And yet we grow every day in leaps and bounds.
This post is far too long, but yes, we're different from the majority of campaigns. We have the quiet and subtle support of Those In Charge of the show, but they're not the ones driving this boat. Because of our consistent, diversified efforts and our insistence on sticking to data and logic in an enthusiastic and optimistic way, people have sat up and taken continued notice.
Lockwood and Co (and #savelockwoodandco by extension) has become a beacon to those dissatisfied with the business of TV, and has gained substantial fans along the way.
Yes, we have a chance. Let's keep lighting our ghost lamps -- they shine far further than we can comprehend.

**Random fandom related rant incoming regarding ROT//TM//NT, don't like don't read**
Okay so, if any of you have followed me for a while, you know that I was in the Rot//TM//NT fandom for like three years before eventually leaving for the most part, save for occasionally peeking in on things (and taking part in the second Fashion zine, which is still in-progress if anyone's wondering).
When I left the fandom, my major point for WHY I left was that I felt like the fandom was becoming way too angst and gore heavy, being way too obsessed with post-movie stuff regarding the Kraang, the apocalyptic future, characters getting brainwashed/mutilated/going through ptsd/disturbing scenarios in general, etc.
This is still my main reason for why I'm still (and probably will always, regardless of how often I end up revisiting the show in the future) keeping my distance from the fandom. However, my other main reason is just the sheer fact that the fandom has a favoritism problem when it comes to the turtles - specifically the fact that Raph is essentially pushed to the sidelines in fandom works I'd say 85-90% of the time.
Just a reminder that I do not - and have not - check the tag every day so maybe my view on things is skewed, but of the ROT//TM//NT stuff that still makes its way into my Tumblr view space or YouTube algorithm, this is definitely how things seem to be.
In general, when it comes to art and fics and edits and all that, pretty much 8 times out of 10 it's going to be focused on either Leonardo, Donatello or both. Without a doubt, when it comes to fan creations involving the turtles, these two get the most solo-pieces. Like- at this point it's not even close. It cannot be denied that they are the fan favorites.
Mikey is next in line, because he's the funny and cute and chaotic youngest sibling, and then Raph is dead-last, getting the least amount of solo-pieces. Hell, half the time when I see Raph included in an art piece/fic/edit, it's only because it's centered around ALL the turtles, making him seem like an after thought. (and even then I've seen plenty of stuff where the artists/writers/editors focus solely on 'the twins' and Mikey, and then either don't include Raph at all or give him very little focus)
What's more, adding onto my frustration at just how angst-focused the fandom was when I left (and, from what I can tell based on my brief pop-ins, still seems to be) is that whenever you DO manage to find a Raph-focused fandom thing, it's him in these angsty or depressing scenarios/AUs, or he's crying over one of his brothers, or he's being the one giving comfort to his brothers.
Because that seems to be all the fandom sees him as! He's the protector, the Big Bro/Mom of the group, the one who dies first in the bad future, the one who we can project bad childhoods onto - though that's not to say that the others don't get projected onto either, they all absolutely do.
As such, you could argue 'oh well, this is just a part of the fandom, it's not a slight against Raph specifically' except it IS because while yes, all the other Turtles get plenty of angst art/fics/edits too, they also get plenty of fun stuff - memes and silly lighthearted scenarios and works where they get to be cool and badass. And as far as I can tell, Raph - for the most part - doesn't get that. At best, he'll get the fandom making jokes about how he's the dumb one or the emotional one. I remember coming across this one Hippoworm fic where all the other turtles got to participate in their wedding and form bonds with Warren and Hypno, meanwhile Raph was the one who ended up being the 'bad guy' of sorts, crashing the wedding because he was too oblivious to catch onto what was happening. This is what I mean when Raph just gets either horribly sidelined or shoved into the roll of support whenever he's not the one getting tortured or brainwashed.
Outside of specific 'Raph is best Turtle' fans/creators (who were already pretty rare back when I was still in the fandom...), you don't see the art of Raph being cool or wearing cool outfits like you do with Leo/Don/Mikey. You don't get fics where he's the full focus and gets to go on this big adventure or have this big interesting arc (AND IT'S NOT CENTERED AROUND TRAUMA, I feel like I have to emphasize this because again this fandom is just so angst heavy). What's more, you go to AO3 to find ANY non-angst/lighthearted Raph-centered fics and it's nearly impossible because, to fans, it seems like he's always got to be attached to one or all of his brothers. It can't just be him or, hey, I'll even take him and a side character/one of the villains (excluding the Mud Dogs because come on now those are literally just his brothers again). Just SOMETHING that lets him be an individual outside of his family - something that, again, literally every other character seems to get!
Even when it comes to something as simple as headcanons - I'd say 95 percent of people view the 'Donnie is autistic' headcanon as canon. But you could argue that Raph has just as many moments that come off as him having autistic traits, but most fans seem to either ignore these bits or see them as jokes, once again seeing Raph as the dumb one whenever he's not the group's shield or responsible one.
On the one hand, I can't fully blame the fandom for this as the show itself often shoehorned Raph into constantly being in a support role for his family. Going by the number of spotlight episodes he gets, it's really just "Mrs. Cuddles", "Sparring Partner" and "Raph's Ride Along", maaaybe "Mystic Library" (even though most fans only remember that ep for the Donnie Rap, let's be real here) and "Man VS Sewer", though the latter still has quite a bit of focus on the other turtles - otherwise he's strictly used as co-protagonist at best and sidekick to one of his other brothers at worst. He does get to land the final blow in "Evil League of Mutants", and gets a bit of extra spotlight in both season finales... buuut then gets kidnapped by the Kraang in the movie (which, regardless of how much it makes sense for the story, it still sucks to see Raph get tortured and put out of commission for more than half the film, essentially being used as a catalyst for Leo's development).
So yeah, hard to build off canon when the canon gives you so little. On the other hand, I still can't help but side-eye the fandom every time Raph - a large/plus-sized and not conventionally attractive character - is either pushed aside completely or strictly used to uplift or prop up the other three skinny 'pretty boy' turtles. Slotting him in strictly as the 'parent' of the group and essentially adultifying him or, even worse, putting him through tons of pain or killing him off so that the others can go through a guilt arc isn't that much better.
Now, could a lot of my feelings towards... all this be personal biases and my own bitterness at my fave being seemingly slighted by the fandom? Sure, you could argue that if you really want to. But from what I've seen, experienced and recalled from my days within the fandom, I feel confident that the points I've ranted about are founded in evidence. The fandom has a huge favoritism problem in my opinion, and it's this plus a distain towards all the angst and torture/gore-fics that have really soured my feelings towards Rise as a whole - and that feeling hasn't gone away.
That's the main reason why I wanted to just get all my feelings out (hence why I'm not tagging this rant), not to attack anyone in particular but just for my own personal benefit. I do hope that eventually I'll be able to rewatch the show (though probably not the movie) and fully enjoy myself without being reminded of all the fandom hang ups and other small annoyances I have with Rise. But for now, gonna be honest, I don't really regret leaving the fandom.
#apologies for the rant. just had to get this out#also I've got nothing else to do at work so#have basically been holding onto this since I've left the fandom

Do you play Romance Club? I love your sense of humour. I'd love to read your reviews of the romance club stories if you ever decide to download the app. I'd strongly recommend The Haze Will Take Us. The jealousy scenes have added years to my life. The author is teasing at least one poly routes. Sirin and Volot's friendship is so pure and wholesome. They're my main LIs, but I decided to buy additional slots for each LI. All gem choices are free during the diamond rush events, but I can't say that I regret supporting the author. Sirin, Volot, Tata and Novak are too precious. I don't have it in me to break their hearts. I don't want to end up locked out of their routes. I think you're going to like the story. RC's storylines are so intense at times. I could definitely use your lighthearted commentary.
hello luv ! sorry for the late response 😩 first i just wanted to say thank you, i’m glad you like my humour 🫶🏽 (i sometimes forget that people read my posts, i act like i’m yelling at a brick wall)
i played romance club for a little bit back in 2020 ! i enjoyed the stories i played (the one i remember the most & fully completed is shadows of saintfour)
their stories are well written, and i loved the stats mechanic & how choices actually make a difference...but i guess i just ended up losing interest. i think my main issues were with things like sidelined wlw routes & black MCs having an ashy skin tone (and nonwhite MCs feeling like an afterthought in general, with things like white MC in the CGs, lack of afro-textured hair, etc.)
but from what i've seen my mutuals post about RC, it does seem like they've improved in that aspect (& although they're based in moldova, as a company with russian authors/staff & target audience i know it's more difficult for them to include LGBT representation in the first place 💔)
i’m definitely open to playing it again, especially since LITG is the only app i'm currently playing (too hot to handle has a year between seasons, like LITG did when it were actually good...& i stopped playing choices because they've been going hard on the AI. some of their newer books have the most bottom of the barrel writing 😭)
as for posting about it on here, i’m not sure ! i assume it wouldn't bother my followers but it would kind of bother me because i'm weird (idk, just something about posting about other apps when this blog has been exclusively LITG since 2019)
for a second i thought about making another side blog for romance club, but this blog is already enough of a flop. that one would probably be straight up crickets 😭 (however it seems like RC has a more active tumblr fandom than post-season 4 LITG, so it might actually be more popular lmao)
so i'll have to think about that, but i'll definitely redownload romance club. i saw that and the haze will take us was written by the same author as shadows of saintfour, so i'll definitely check it out first !

i think they're all irondad? nobody knows like a waterfall System Error: Reboot i’ll always come back mr. dad❤️🔧 yep. all irondad
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i try to! but i have bad adhd and completely forget most of the time. trust me, i see it and i love it and then i forget to answer it
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
probably The Phantom Menace just because it's short and there's no closure. one of my earliest irondad works, if not my earliest
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
good question!! most of mine are pretty happy or at least hopeful, i'd say mr. dad❤️🔧 just because there's little to no angst throughout the entire thing
8. Do you get hate on fics?
yep! as previously mentioned, i have horrid adhd, so sometimes ill get stuck in a little echo chamber of my own brain, and ideas that make sense in my head, with all the surrounding details i've come up with, the full thing won't make it into the story so it makes little to no sense.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
i've never written a smut fic, i tried my hand at writing smut (with ocs) when i turned 18 just to see if i could. however i sincerely doubt it'll exit the specially made password-locked document i made for it
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
i don't, not really, so i guess i'll have to say my pnf and irondad crossover, which is less crazy when you remember phineas and ferb already did that.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
also no

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
i might have to go with my stupid little elf polycule from mia and me. its my all time favorite because if i don't love them, who else will?? and i can never get tired of content from them bc there is none.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
oh god. ive never finished a multichapter. did you all know that about me?? i've never made it all the way through. the final chapter of silent spidey has been complete since november 2022. but i haven't made it there yet. and now i doubt i ever will.
16. What are your writing strengths?
dialogue. i like to think ive got a good handle on dialogue. also spelling and grammar are fun for me so none of those pesky little errors
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
my willingness to sacrifice important plot points for a joke i found marginally funny. looking at you, stranger things wips.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
depends!! i'm bilingual, so if it's a language i've got a handle on then yeah, why not? if i gotta translate it, i'll probably include the translation in there somewhere with an html code
19. First fandom you wrote for?
miraculous ladybug, back on wattpad. if you find my old unfinished fic on wattpad with no clues from me ill give you five bucks
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
i really like to be a bit of warmth for you. it was fun to write and i can still reread it without cringing so i count that as a win!
no pressure tags: @creative-girl @multifandomforthemostpart @call-me-coley @ironfidus

20 Questions for Fic Writers
thank's for the tag @waitingondaisies
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
- 180
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
- 1,701,826 (Holy Crap!)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
- All of my fics are MCU, predominantly Irondad but there are a few Spiceychell fics mixed in there too.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
- A Parent Apparent (528,718 words, 7,349 kudos) A really freaking long slow burn Irondad co-parenting with May fic.
- So Many Things to Say (82,998 words, 3,914 kudos) A electivly mute, foster child Peter fic. This is the first part of an extended series.
- What I Really Need is You (18,520 words, 3,581 kudos) A fluffy 5+1 of Peter needing things from Tony.
- Distracted by a Dime (56,169 words, 2,476 kudos) A homeless Peter AU- Stony AU. This is the first part of a series.
- Suspended (3,607 words, 2,177 kudos) A One-shot about Pter getting suspended and Tony picking him up from school.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try really hard to reply to every comment!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't really do angsty endings... So Maybe this one? Breathe, Kid (You're Not Alone) (4,086 words) Ned Dies and Peter feels responsible. Tony is there to help him pick up the pieces. The ending is hopeful and comforting- but there is no instant fix.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh geez. You want me to pick one??? Uh... Let's go with this one because it has some sweet Christmassy vibes. Secret Sugarplum Spiderling (27,923 words) Peter is a ballet dancer and he doesn't want Tony to know- yet. Lots of super sweet fluff.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Sometimes. Usually, it's someone who has decided that my fictional story filled with fictional characters who have fictional superpowers isn't 'realistic enough.'
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I have written exactly ONE smut fic- but it has NEVER been posted. 😘
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
One- by request. It was a mini-fic about Pokemon trainer Peter and Pokemon Professor Tony. Rotom Roundup (979 words)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope. My art, despite emailing them several times, is still up on a 'coloring sheets' website though. Which mostly annoys me because what they nagged was a draft. I would have happily sent them the clean line art.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No. I had someone offer once and gave full permission but I don't htink it ever happened.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! I have co-written a few fics. And I have one in the works with @waitingondaisies
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Most of my fics are platonic relationships. But I often have background relationships in them; usually Stony or Pepperony. Some spideycelle and once, Ned/Peter.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I hope I eventually finish all of them! But there is one I found that I am not even sure where it was going. All I have written is 800 words of Kraven the Hunter confronting Peter.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I am pretty good at dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I am still learning a lot about POV depth, visceral details, and deep introspection.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I don't use it much, if at all. But it doesn't bother me.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Irondad
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Oh! It's a tie!! So Many Things to Say will always me towards the top of my favorites lit. But my newest fic, The Hoax, is starting to creep into 'favorite fic of all time' territory.
I am going to tag (If they are interested) @spicler-manie @cajun-fangirl @asyouleft @thwip--thwip @justme--emily and @kubabergen

Weeb anon returns :'D : Samurai Flamenco wedding suit cards in the spinoff app is probably the most infamous example, but there was also Lucky Star (wedding scenario official art), I think Hibike Euphonium and a couple more yuri anime I'm not caught up on (girls in wedding dresses are a lot more popular, wonder why :P ), Kaworu and Shinji from Evangelion had wedding ring merch and wedding outfits for merch… I'm sure there's more of it though, Japan is always on top of its subtle fanservice merch.
Interesting what you're saying though! Again, might just be me coping, but I honestly feel like Jamie and Damon could crack at some point, if only to spite bigots, since the world is pretty ugly these days and they're punks at heart (not the correct technical term… but y'kno what I mean lol). Kinda like MCR used to make out on stage just to piss off some crowds. I think their perspective has definitely shifted over the years, especially since they're getting a lot of younger LGBTQ fans and they know it. Damon's out there dancing with a pride flag, singing "are you tranz like me?" and kissing Seye in all fairness haha. But they probably don't want to undermine 20 years' worth of work and ending up getting asked about 2doc every interview or sideline Noodle and Russ even more than they already are. I dunno, don't wanna play a mind reader. TLDR: I'm not starry-eyed thinking it'll ever happen, but I see a small possibility of them being fine with it now more than ever, whereas there was no chance a few years ago.
Ahhh okay! I'm learning a lot here. I'm very basic with my anime/manga consumption and really haven't ventured out of the shonen genre....ever idt lol. Up until recently I had only read or watched 4 different series. Thanks for sharing what you know!
I guess I'm skeptical of them not because I think they're uncomfortable with the idea, but moreso because I don't think they care enough about really developing the lore and characters. I also don't think the ship aligns with either of their personal, for lack of a better word, "headcanons" about 2D and Murdoc. Of the two, I think Jamie would be more likely to go, "fuck it" and let the writers do whatever. He already kind of does this - since P4, it's been the writers who have been the source of all the 2Doc hints we get in interviews, tiktoks, etc. Afaik, Jamie isn't involved in that.
Damon, as far as I know, doesn't seem to have any semblence of shipper vision. During P5, he said in an interview that 2D was happy Murdoc was in jail, and wanted him to stay there forever haha. And most recently, if I remember correctly, he said he didn't care about the PR side of Gorillaz at all, which I assume included the character interviews, lore updates via social media etc.. All of which he is entitled to feel! But I bring them up to support my impression that he isn't a shipper, and I wouldn't expect him to go to bat for 2Doc if he wanted to make a statement. But I might have missed some things, so if you or anyone reading this knows of any counter-evidence, I'm open to hearing it.
And that's true that canon 2Doc would probably be the final nail in the coffin for Russel and Noodle's relevance. And that would be a bummer, ngl. I'd feel bad for my friends who are fans of them.
That all being said, I think you bring up some good point, and ia that Jamon are both supportive of the fans and LGBT community, and are comfortable being open about that. But does that overlap with their respective interpretations of 2D and Murdoc? Idk. I think if I was placing a bet, I'd put money on Jamie giving Noodle a girlfriend before any ship between the guys. But my main theory is that management will eventually see that 2Doc is popular and accepted by enough of the fandom that it will help them trend lol. But I'm also not expecting anything...but it's fun to conjecture about.
We'll see how this post has aged after 20 years 🤣

Coming out as Plural
This post will be using I pronouns because it reflects the perspective of the headmate (Felix) writing it. As a plurality as a whole, we use we, our, us and they/them. Each of us have our own personal pronouns too.
What's my Origin?
I don't know. I've had Cerebral Palsy - which since it has physical side effects a lot of people see as a physical disability but which is also neurological - since I was an infant. I also had a seizure in the NICU as a baby. I went through surgeries a lot as a kid. I have also experienced many kinds of trauma, none of which sticks out to any of us as having brought us into being, except maybe once, which coincides with the first time I (Felix) remember fronting in the body, and also lines up with the traditional age range for clinical diagnosis. The thing is, I also have memories of existing before that. Whenever I try to think of when I came from, the only answer that ever makes sense or feels right is that I have always been here. Always been Plural. So, am I Endogenic? Is it likewise possible that the trauma that happened to our brain with our Cerebral Palsy, or maybe the seizure we had as a baby laid the groundwork for us? I don't know. I've sat by the sidelines in the Plural community, listening carefully to the experiences of both traumagenic and endogenic pluralities, of mixed origin people, of those who are disordered and nondisordered, trying to find where I fit in. Though I've loved listening, even as fraught and divided as the community is, nothing I have seen so far matches up quite right with our own experiences of Plurality for us to be able to say, "That's it, that's us!" Our disability often sets us apart in spaces, and it may do so here. Cerebral Palsy changes the brain, it has to map itself differently. It wouldn't surprise me if that opened up new ways to be.
Where do I stand on Syscourse?
We will never be intentionally ableist towards any disordered or traumagenic pluralities. We support them wholeheartedly. We will also strive not to exclude mixed origin or endogenic pluralities or other ways of being plural. We support fictives and factives. We will not be using clinical terms to describe our experiences as we don't currently seek clinical diagnosis of our plurality and don't wish to appropriate anything that doesn't belong to us.
What did I think of Moon Knight?
Ohoho, hoo boy, do I have Thoughts! This went from being the most intimate and beloved hyperfixation (we're adhd) I've ever had to damaging and hurting us (and Me especially!) in episode 5 more than anything ever has. I am ashamed of the writers and wish my goal of becoming a television showrunner was already met so that I could sit down with them and talk peer to peer. I still love the characters, remain a huge fan of Oscar Isaac, and would like to continue watching the show and immersing myself in being a fan of it for as long as it still brings me happiness. SPOILERS AHEAD: Singlets in the fandom please listen to the plural people around you, be conscious of the pain that ep 5 brought me and others like me, and please, for the love of all that is sweet and kind in this world, please stop giffing, reblogging, and showcasing the part where Steven freaks out over his autonomy. Please stop talking about Marc being the only "real" person in his system. This is untrue and harmful. You are making the tags of a show where a lot of us felt seen an unsafe and hostile place for us to be. Please don't do that. I am begging you. There are so many shows with singlet protagonists. Most media depicts us horribly. Let us dictate what the conversation should be in one of the only shows we have ever had that treated us right. I care about your opinions and feelings, I am genuinely excited to know what you think, and I love that you love this show too, so let's find a way to love this together without hurting each other. Thank you.
Does anyone want to introduce themselves?
At this time people are shy, we've spent so long without anyone knowing about us. I'll introduce myself and leave it there for now, but stay tuned for any future intros we might give.
Hi! I'm Felix Midnight. I'm somewhere in my 20s. I'm usually in front unless otherwise specified. My pronouns are he/him/his and they/them/theirs. I'm a femme nonbinary trans man, I’m a goth I’m a geek of many.kinds, a writer and a game dev. I love Interactive Fiction games and I have a studio of my own called MidnightHopeGames. To date all of the games there are mine, but I hope in the future that some of the others may want to make some too. I'd love to be a romance author (despite the fact that I'm arospec I'm a romance positive romance nerd and besides, fiction is awesome) and my ultimate goal is to be a television showrunner. But for now IF is my stage. I love shows like Moon Knight, Legends of Tomorrow, and some seasons of The Flash, but I also love shows like Station 19, Sailor Moon, and Moonlight (2007). I love socializing, and cats and socializing with cats. I am happily spoken for by a giant nerd of a singlet guy who is go to space level smart. Hmm... What else, what else... I think artists/writers/creators, are some of the coolest and bravest people on the planet! Especially IF authors and reader insert fic authors, who are two very different but equally badass communities and I am in awe of every single one of you. I cannot believe the quality and care and time you invest in your work and that we are lucky enough you choose to share it with us. Thank you so much. I support you. Actors, queer people, trans people, BIPOC, disabled people, and ND people, I adore you. Pluralities and systems, you're the coolest! Medical professionals that aren't ableist, you are the backbone of this place. Everybody else, keep being cool. I hope you have things that make life bright and I hope I get to talk with you someday. Thank you all for reading this!
What can you tell us about the body?
31 going on 32, BIPOC, Happa, disabled, neurodivergent, queer (yes, all of us), and objectively hot if you ask me (but I'm biased because it's the one I've got). We would like top surgery someday.
Why now?
Moon Knight has brought plurality into mainstream awareness in a way that is for once not entirely harmful. I've never really felt comfortable being closeted in any way. We held off because we have very clear goals for a future in the public eye creating content and we were afraid that being visibly plural would put those goals at risk. We recently decided to come out as publicly trans and nonbinary and after we saw Moon Knight we have been debating whether closets are actually helping us or hindering us when it comes to plurality. After a lot of back and forth and conversations with the aware singlets most close to us, we have decided that, as creators we want to showcase the world we want to see, and that we would very much like to Be in that world. Not in 10 or 15 or 20 years when the dream of being known as entertainers becomes a reality and we feel like we'd have a platform to come out and make a difference, but now where we can benefit from the very things we're trying to create ourselves. We'd like a chance to be happy, and known, just as we are. so, this is us. Hello. Nice to meet you!

What did you think about ladynoir in strike back? I've seen quite a common take going around saying that we never got to see Adrien's feelings be validated or that he never was given time by the narrative to address the feelings which was left unaddressed in kuro neko too and that he shouldn't be put in a position by the narrative where he couldn't think of himself first.
Okay, I think this is a very loaded question, and at the end of the day, the Ladynoir conflict was (is) a complicated beast which will require a lot of work, communication, and practical solutions to tangible problems, and we as a fandom and audience cannot know exactly what those are. There's also the fact of the matter that there were several problems to be solved at the end of Strikeback, and the Ladynoir conflict was only one of them.
I'll start first with this rant that's kinda been building in me since Kuro Neko came out. In the aftermath of that episode, the only thing I remember is how many takes there were that were something along the lines of: "I hope that isn't the end of the Ladynoir conflict." And this is such a complicated thing, because on one hand, I don't think Ladynoir would be able to thrive as partners if they left off where they ended Kuro Neko and never worked more on their relationship. On the other hand, a lot of these takes were supported by bad-faith assumptions that Thomas Astruc and the rest of the writing team were not smart enough to see that there's still problems left unsolved. "I hope that isn't the end of the Ladynoir conflict, and I'm worried it will be because I don't have faith in the writing team."
This echoes a sentiment that sort of existed toward the beginning of the season, which was "I hope Chat gets time to shine (because I don't have faith that the writing team sees that he's being sidelined and believe that what they're doing is accidental)." This sentiment reached its peak around Guiltrip's release, which, in fairness, Guiltrip released way earlier than it should have. Before Mega Leech, which I definitely think would have maybe changed some fandom reception (though admittedly I don't have too much hope). But both of these ideas boil down to believing that the writing team does not see the emotional implications of what they're writing. In essence, the idea that this show is only good on accident, which is untrue, point blank.
Back to the point at hand, though, there were a lot of people who were upset at the idea that Kuro Neko could be the end of the Ladynoir conflict. They wanted something more explosive and felt robbed because they didn't get it.
My question: Why do so many people want them to make each other feel bad before they can get better? Why do so many people want to see Chat yell at Ladybug, especially when Adrien had just moments before witnessed her having a panic attack? Why is it not good enough for both of them to recognize their unhealthy patterns of behavior and interaction, and to correct those?
Why must they be punished for what they've done wrong before they can move on?
And for the record, like Kuro Neko, we haven't seen the end of it. The finale left off on a cliffhanger, and there's a good chance that S5 will pick up immediately from where S4 left off. There is still plenty of time for Ladynoir to have a conversation about what happened and more verbally acknowledge things.
That said, there is some truth to the fact that Chat left off returning to doing everything for Ladybug. He's staked his self worth on being needed, and so much of his arc in S4 was from the belief that he is no longer needed. The S4 finale showed him how needed he is, but there's still a fundamental issue in that he's staking his self worth on external validation.
And you wanna know what?
He can put that aside for a moment for the good of Paris.
I'm again reminded of Kuro Neko, and this post I made when the first trailer from Gloob dropped. In that moment, Ladybug was assuring the Parisian public that everything was fine, and she needed to put aside Chat's feelings for the good of everyone. And you wanna know what? In the moment, if Adrien is deciding that the good of the entire world is more important than the good of himself — and right now, the good of the entire world is pretty dependent on how well Ladybug is doing — then I'm not gonna call that bad writing. There were other crises to be solved. You can't blame Marinette for that.
I'm just done assuming that this show isn't gonna be good. I'm done assuming that it'll handle a plotline poorly, like everyone thought with sentiAdrien back in the days of Mega Leech and now most people seem more or less on board with it. I'm done assuming that the show won't give full emotional arcs to all of the characters, like many people thought about Adrien back when Guiltrip and Optigami released. I'm done assuming that the show won't properly put an end to the Ladynoir conflict, like people were doing back when Kuro Neko came out. And I won't assume that Adrien won't get a full recovery from S4 based on the end of Strikeback, I won't assume that the show isn't gonna acknowledge what Luka learned in Wishmaker, I won't assume that Chloé will get the Fox Miraculous.
It's bad faith, at best, and these assumptions damn near never play out, so what's the point of making them?

So it’s been a little bit since we found out that JATP has been cancelled and I’ve been trying to process how I’m feeling. And honestly, it’s a little hard because in the back of my mind, I knew this was coming and yet, when I saw Kenny’s post I just didn’t want it to be true. There was this ache in my heart that I truly just can’t explain.
I won’t lie, I’m devastated that this is the final outcome after waiting over a year for news. I feel hurt and sad and frustrated and angry and confused. And I think it’s absolutely human of us to try to find people and things to blame or to try to think of logical reasons why it was cancelled. Because this show? This show was more than just a “kids show” to me. Gosh, this show felt like a lifeline being handed to me during the past two years, which have been the most uncertain and confusing time of my life. It sat me down for a mere 4 hours and told me to that it was okay to feel everything and to let love in and that sometimes, people come into your life when you least expect it to and change your life.
(Under a read more because this turned out way longer than I thought it’d be. I am going through it. Let me be.)
For a long time, I was not a part of fandom. Simply because life got in the way and there were some past experiences that put me off on ever really getting involved with an online community. But when I finished the show, I felt this weird little pull to see if maybe other people felt as strongly as I did about this brilliant female character and her ghost band. And boy oh boy did I find a very engaging and incredibly talented fandom when I finally remembered my Tumblr password. I was so astounded by the sheer impact this tiny little show had on other people (and right from the beginning!!), and there was just something in me that said I should stick around.
So I did. And boy am I glad that I did.
At the start, I innocently told myself that I could just simply reblog some things, maybe get it out of my system after a week or so. But something about the show and the characters and the stories and the music just would not let go of me. I found myself suddenly thinking about Alex and Reggie’s backstories. I was trying to piece together the connection between Rose and the boys. I was putting the characters into different stories and universes. I could visualize all these missing scenes from the show.
I didn’t realize it at that time, but it was like a spark had relit inside of me, igniting something. I was creating again, which was something I hadn’t thought about or done in years.
And then I started this little sideblog as a way for me to stay organized and kinda just poke my head around the fandom. I’ve still managed to keep my presence here how I want it to, on the sidelines and in the tags, but I’ve also somehow been able to connect with a small amount of people who have brought so much laughter and joy into my life through our shared connection of the show. I have gained new friends because of jatp and that’s something I never thought I could do again in a fandom.
I think it’s so easy to just wallow in the sadness and confusion. Heck, I laid on the floor of my room for a couple hours yesterday while listening to the soundtrack and fighting back tears every time I remembered we weren’t getting a season 2. But at the same time, I can’t help but stop myself from also being so so happy.
And it all comes down to the fact that I remember that this show simply e x i s t s. We have 9 beautifully written episodes about dealing with grief, finding family in other people, opening up to others, leaning on your friends and family. We got an amazing female POC as a lead who was allowed to just be a teenager and be surrounded by people who love and support her. We got an anxious boy who struggled with his sexuality who realized that they have not yet met all the ghosts people who will love him. We saw a runaway teen with a life cut short get to “fix” the thing he regretted the most and a second shot to live his dream. We see a beautiful and positive relationship between a father and his kids, who’s going through his own grieving process, but still shows them love and support in every way. We see the people who aren’t blood-related who stick around because they know you are more than the worst parts of yourself, because they know who you are when you are finally free and can shine. We have that.
We also get to revisit this show and its characters a million times over in different mediums, and that’s all in part due to the wonderful (and let’s be real, sometimes messy) fandom. I am constantly blown away by the astounding amount of amazing content created by this fandom. From the fanart to the gifsets to the graphics to the fics to the headcanons and the drabbles to the silly little text posts to memes to fanvids to songs and covers to cosplay to brilliant rambles in the tags and everything in between. There has been so much joy and comfort brought into my life because of you wonderful wonderful people.
So much has been created because of this show and that is not something a cancellation can take away from us. Ever.
This announcement feels like the ending of something, but it’s definitely not the end of this fandom. The jatp fandom has basically been running itself since its inception, and I don’t think anything will change that now. I hope you keep on creating and pouring your love into these characters because I know for myself, this show will forever be a constant inspiration for me and I don’t think that’ll ever really go away.
This show belongs to us, it always has, and forever will.

Can I ask your opinion on the what if... series? I'm really hating the Captain Carter trailers. I feel like it's disrespectful to Sam's character who has only just taken up the mantle of Captain America and the shield. I get that this is an alternate timeline series but from the sounds of things they plan on launching these alternates into the main MCU via the multiverse. If rumours are true and Peggy appears in Doctor Strange 2, then that means Captain Carter will appear on the big screen as a supersoldier shield-weilding Cap before Sam appears. And that doesn't sit right with me. Not to mention the merchandise that's already everywhere. Feels like Sam's getting sidelined again before he's even had the chance to shine on his own. Anyway, I'd be interested to know your thoughts on it, if you've seen it. (Also, less related, the uniform being the British flag just reeks of WW2 British imperialism which is also just ugh. And I'm an Australian, our flag literally includes the British one! I just do not like any of this.)
Hi Anon!!! Thanks for the ask it's a very interesting question.
I haven't thought about it a lot because I have seen the trailers and I liked it, it looks like a very cool show and I llike Peggy Carter's character.
They have announced the What If... series since a long time ago and one of the scenario announced was indeed what if Peggy was "Captain America", so this isn't exactly a surprise.
I have seem some posts about the fact that there is much promotion and much more merchandise is done for Captain Cartet than for Captain America. And that are disappointed that Sam's character is sidelined and maybe it's too spon and I will changer my mind, but I personally don't feel that way for now.
I guess I would have more of a problem if:
-it weren't an animated series and there was a real show with Captain Carter. I didn't know about Peggy appearing in Doctor Strange 2, but I guess we'll have to wait and see what is the screntime, if she appears as Captain Carter or not. But for now, I personally don't see Captain Carter as a problem or as Sam's character being sidelined.
- if they brought back Chris Evans' Captain America on a different project, like those rumors said some ago. It would annoy me to no end if they used the excuse of the multiverse to bring back another version of Steve Rogers as Captain America, or as
Honestly, for me, there is a problem with Sam's character and how him being Captain America is handled, but it has nothing to do with the What if series. I think it's important to put the blame where it should be.
The problem isn't that there is more promotion or more merch available for the What If series or Captain Carter, because the show is about to air, so it's normal that it would get promoted, that's how it works.
To me, the problem is that we had a TV show with Sam as Captain America, and then... nothing???
The problem is that we had an announcement for a Cap 4 movie but with no realease date nothing? Not even a TBA date in 2024 or whatever? With all these MCU moves already lined up there should be at least an official announcement, even a vague date.
And I'm thinking maybe we'll get to Sam Wilson in other movies, before the Cap 4 movie, but it's not a certainty, and also what about the official dates for his own movie? Not even something like "confirmed" or "announced" with the Captain America logo.
That's what doesn't sit right with me, because for now it looks to me that Disney has no plan to follow up on Captain Sam Wilson... Just from the looks of it, I don't know what they will or will not do.
Am I the only one who remembers that we were supposed to have a Cyrborg solo movie in the DCEU? It was announced and it never happened? So that's what's really making worried regarding Captain America.
From where I'm standing, Disney wants the diversity points without putting in more work than necessary.
Another issue is that historically the fandom never stands up for the Black Superheroes and the Balck actors.
It happened woth Ray Fisher, it happened with John Boyega, and I think John's case it's even more disgustimg because the behavior of the fandom eventually led to his role beong reduced in the Saga...wtf. They preferred to run an incoherent story and make a mediocre movie rather than pay Fonn his due!
Just an example of what I mean when I say that the fandom doesn't support Black Actors: You see all what is happening with Scarlett Johansson right? The lawsuit etcetera.... I have seen dozens and dozens of posts supporting her and her lawsuit.... And this isn't coming from her fans... It's even coming from people who dislike her but understand the importance of what she's doing. I understand the importance of what she's doing... But I can't help and compare it to he support Ray Fisher had in the fandom, when he was calling out the abuse he received from Joss Whedon and from some Executives. Since the story with Scarlett started every 10th post on my dash is about it. And yes, it's still fresh, so it's normal people are talking about it. But when the whole story started with Ray Fisher, the reaction was just not the same.... People were amkong posts that wouldn't get more that a 100 notes, and for me it was easier supporting from Twitter because at least I could retweet Ray's tweets.... but let me tell you that he was bassically fight alone. ALONE.
I have seen so many posts saying.... "I hate Scarjo but..." "I can't stand Scarjo but..." So from where I'm sitting a problematic White actress will get more support than an unproblematic Black actor denouncing abuse. And just to be clear... I do think that the fandom should support Scarjo's lawsuit because Disney is never held accountable for the sh*t they do, I'm just making a comparison and saying they both deserved support but only one of them got it.
That's why I have absolutely no fate that the MCU fandom will stand up for Anthony Mackie or Sam Wilson if it's ever necessary seeing how they turned their back on Anthony Mackie the moment they thought he was against "Sambucky". They will turn their back on him and his character the minute a minor inconvience happen. And Disney/Marvel will love that because they will have a justification as to why they will not follow through with Sam Cap (His characyer is unpopular.... or whatever excuse they will find).
And about the interview thing, I guess I could understand if and only if they had a problem with some of the things he had said... But the fandom made it clear that they only cared about what they thought he said about Sambucky, not the rest, proving once again that the fandom is untrustworthy. Because they were ready to condemn hom for something as trivial as a fictional ship.
If push comes to shove, and for instance they brought back another Steve Rogers from another universe, I'm sure they would be quick to support THAT character instead of Sam.
To me the problem is Disney & Marvel Execs and also the fandom of course... Because the Execs go where the money is... If the fandom is hyping up anybody BUT Sam Wilson... the execs will do the same... because they will promote characters who are the most popular.
It's important to reward reprensation, and hype up movies and shows with reprensentation, but to me it is as important (if not more important) not to reward lack of representation.
That's why I have absolutely no intention to pay for a MCU movie other than Shang Chi, and Black Panther and also Cap 4 whenever it comes out! But other than that... I'm staying away from the movies with always the same group being represented.
TL:DR; in my opinion, there is indeed a problem but the problem isn't the What if series, far from it.
#what if#sam wilson#captain america#peggy carter#ray fisher#john boyega#anthony mackie#And the Marvels too#Forgot to add that!#Sorry for the typos

1, 10, 17, and 23 for TLK!
I'm sorry it took me so long to respond! Pretend I was just waiting until the day before Season 5 to get hype about it. 1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*
Not to be basic and predictable about it, but… Aethelflaed x Uhtred. It’s partly that their vibe just… doesn’t exist, and partly that Bernard Cornwell had his self-insert fake ancestor oc FUCK AETHELFLAED LADY OF THE MERCIAnS and I will never stop being salty about that.
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
Season 4, Mercian succession arc. My god. My GOD. The depravity of those writers. I remember by the third scene of like Aldhelm talking to those random Mercians dudes who we had never met before, I was actually yelling at my screen. To quote my impassioned Reddit post about this from two years ago:
“Are we still so allergic to women's ambition and self belief that allowing this main character a personal narrative plot of deciding that she should, or even simply could be a viable candidate for the position would be such a turn off? I know that women of the period required the support of powerful men. There is evidence that Aethelflaed's claim was not fully supported by her brother, although they collaborated on successful campaigns together. She definitely relied on the service of loyal male warriors and thegns to exert her power. But it’s almost a certainty that Aethelflaed - one of the first women in English history to hold power in her own name - was not a passive observer standing on the sidelines of her own succession.”
17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
Oooooh…. GOD. Well, maybe this is too much but I simply would have made Aethelflaed a POV character from the beginning (of her entry to the story) with the same narrative weight as Alfred. Does not seem that hard to me.
23. Unpopular character you love?
AETHELWOLD TRUE KInG OF WESSEX. I don’t know if he’s actually genuinely unpopular but from a content creation perspective, he does not get much love. He’s my boy though. My little blorbo. My beloved sock that got lost in the dryer.
