It was “just one of those days”. But it has but been for about 5 months now. You know those long spells of “will this ever end?” Anyhow I leave my wife and child in the waiting room and head back to THE CHAIR. A few minutes and 3 numbing shots to the jaw later I’m chatting with my dentist to let it marinate. I’m not scared of the dentist. I had retainers as a child and a dick of a dentist. So anything else is a breeze in my mind. They lay my chair back and start to work. I don’t feel anything so all I really have to do is keep my mouth open and relax. They are doing all the work. So I just start listening to the Muzak playing in the background. Thinking about whatever comes to my mind. Drifting in and out of thoughts and every few minutes I bite down on the spit vacuum. I was so relaxed. After the procedure they said it went great and that I seemed very calm. I explained I was zero nervous about this, possibly less than, and it was great for me. It was the first time to myself I had in months. I returned to the waiting room and my wife looked like she had just been camping. Shirt untucked, hair a mess. Child running around like lord of the flies. She said “you look different. How was it.” It was great. I said. I feel like I just went to a spa. I’m so relaxed. She looked at me so sad and said. “You just had needles in your jaw and a drill in 2 teeth and you treated it like a break. I’m so sorry.” I guess when you put it that way I might just be a little stressed.
