summary: when hiking with the triplets, sofia passes out from the heat

No one was sure why they had chosen to hike in the middle of a heatwave. Getting up the mountain was fine since they’d started early in the morning, but now it had reached midday and the heat was as bad as ever. They were currently sitting in a circle eating some snacks that Matt’s girlfriend Sofia had packed. Chris got to his feet and glanced at the group. “I kind of want to go explore a little bit. Anyone care to join me?”

Nick finished the last of his Dr Pepper and stood up. “I’ll go. Matt? Sofia?”

“I think I’ll stay here,” Sofia replied from where she was sitting and Matt agreed with her.

Nick and Chris left, leaving Matt and Sofia to chat for a while. Matt smiled as his girlfriend rested her head on his shoulder, wrapping her arms around him. “Hi. Are you feeling okay?” he asked.

Sofia wasn’t usually as clingy as she had been for the past couple of hours, not that Matt minded. “Just a little tired,” Sofia replied.

Matt was quiet as he let Sofia rest in his arms. He loved spending time in nature, and they’d been so busy he hadn’t gotten to do this for a long time. Matt gently ran his fingers over Sofia’s arm as he looked at the view in front of him. “You know what we need to do?” Sofia asked suddenly and Matt glanced down at her.

“Tell me.”

Sofia adjusted herself so that she was looking up at Matt. “A q&a on our relationship. My subscribers requested it a couple videos ago and I wrote it down. I just never got around to telling you.”

A smile crossed Matt’s face as he nodded. “Yeah. We could do it for your next video. It could be our little car video.”

“We haven’t done that in a while,” Sofia said excitedly.

The two became so caught up in future ideas for their channels that they didn’t notice that Nick and Chris had come back. The group chatted for a while before they decided that it was too hot and it would be better to head to a nearby restaurant. By the time they got back into town it would be dinner time, and Chris had a restaurant that he wanted to treat everyone to. Matt reached his hand out and pulled Sofia to her feet. “You’re sure you’re okay?” he asked, still a little concerned.

Sofia nodded, feeling better now that they’d eaten and relaxed for a bit. “Guess I just needed a break.”

As the group headed back down the trail, Sofia was beginning to feel lightheaded again. She knew it was just the heat. It was a known fact that she didn’t handle high temperatures well, but usually staying hydrated worked. The group was chatting excitedly about future youtube videos as they continued their way back to the car. Sofia squeezed her eyes shut as everything seemed to start spinning. They were a little over halfway done before she really needed to stop.

“Can we stop for a second,” Sofia slurred as she doubled over, resting her hands on her knees. “I need a minute.”

“Are you okay?” Chris asked worriedly.

“Here. Have my water,” Nick followed up, handing Sofia his water bottle.

Matt hurried over to Sofia and rubbed her back. “What’s going on my love?” he asked worriedly.

Sofia ran a hand through her hair as she tried held onto Matt’s arm for support. She could hear the brothers trying to talk to her, but everything felt like it was underwater. Everything was spinning and black spots began dancing before her eyes. “Matty, I really don’t feel good,” she murmured, causing Matt to quickly wrap an arm around her waist to hold her steady.

“Okay, let’s get you to that bench over there,” Matt said, pointing a little further down the trail.

When he got no response he looked at his girlfriend to see her eyes start to roll up in her head. “Oh shit!” Chris gasped, as Sofia went limp.

Matt knelt down, gently lowering Sofia onto the ground, relieved that he was able to catch her. Thinking fast, he pulled off his shirt and poured some cold water from his bottle. Nick and Chris did their best to help their brother as he tried to wake Sofia up. It didn’t take long before Sofia let out a soft groan. “Hey. You’re okay,” Matt said softly as his girlfriend’s eyes fluttered open. “Hey. How are you feeling?”

“Head hurts,” Sofia mumbled, still out of it.

“I know,” Matt said gently. “We’re going to get you home.”

Matt lifted Sofia into his arms, making sure to keep his damp shirt across her neck. When they finally made it to the car, Chris kept an arm around Sofia so Matt could get the car keys out of his bag. “I’ll stay in the back with her,” Chris said.

Matt nodded and planted a kiss on Sofia’s cheek. “Let me know if you need anything okay.”

“Hmmmm,” Sofia hummed as Chris helped her into the car.

As they pulled into the driveway several minutes later, Matt glanced in the rearview mirror to see Sofia half asleep. Matt parked in the driveway letting Nick and Chris leave before he went over to Sofia’s side. “Hey my love. We’re home.”

Sofia hummed slightly as she opened her eyes. “M’sorry Matt,” she muttered.

“Why?” Matt asked, helping her out of the car. “You didn’t do anything.”

“I thought I could handle the hike,” Sofia replied.

Matt shook his head as he hugged his girlfriend. “It was super hot today. I’m surprised any of us made it through that hike. Don’t even worry about it," he reassured her. Matt kissed Sofia's cheek as he led her inside. "Let's just take a nap before dinner. Chris might have a fit if we don't go to the place he picked," Matt said jokingly, earning a laugh from Sofia.

Uncharismatic Fact of the Day

Most people get dizzy if they spin around, but whirligig beetles don't! This group of beetles is known for spinning in erratic circles on the surface of lakes and ponds, much like the whirling children's toys they're named after! Whirligig beetles spend almost their whole lives in the water, and as result have developed unique adaptations including two pairs of compound eyes-- one to look over the water's surface and another to look underwater.

Lila found herself cowering in a bathroom. Again.

She flinched as an axe slammed into the door enough times to make a hole.

Adrien smiled at Lila through the hole.

“Heeeeere’s Johnny!”

Lila screamed and shoved a stool against the door.

Norm popped in next to her holding a half-empty tub of popcorn.

“It’s even better the second time!” He exclaimed.

“Make it stop!” Lila shouted at him.

“What? He loves you, doesn’t he?”

“Loves me enough to kill me!” She shouted back, both angry and terrified. “Since when was Adrien like this irrational?! I didn’t wish for yandere!”

Norm shrugged. “You wished for him to be—and I quote: ‘madly in love’ with you.” He shrugged. “I’m not sure what you expected, but ‘madly’ and ‘rationally’ don’t exactly mix.”

Lila strained against the door.

“FIX IT!”

“But we didn’t even get to see him replicate the scene from Misery.” He whined.

“NORM!”

Norm sighed.

“Fiiiine.”

Lila entered the classroom, cheerfully and expectantly. She heard Adrien's voice from inside and just knew that her wish would start once she saw him again.

There was a flash of light that caused Lila to flinch and shut her eyes.

When she opened them again, a few others looked just as confused as she did and apparently at least a couple hours had passed.

"What? What happened?"

"Adrien was akumatized!" Alya exclaimed as she entered, holding up her phone. Adrien followed slowly behind her, looking sheepish as Nino was consoling him.

"I'm so sorry!"

"Hey, at least your outfit wasn't so bad." Nino reassured him.

Lila blinked.

"What?"

Alya turned her phone to show footage of Adrien's akumatization as...

...Fruitlador.

...including Lila, as Alya's video showed him zaping her into a dark shriveled-looking fruit reminiscent of a large raisin.

"I'm so sorry!" Adrien apologized again. "Are you okay?"

A loud scream of sheer frustration could be heard from outside.

Lila and Norm stared at the scene. Norm in confusion. Lila gaping.

Since vacation cruise ships are a thing, how would Angeal, Sephiroth, Genesis, Zack, and Cloud's time on the boat go?

• Sephiroth, who rarely ever takes a vacation, is having a very good time sunbathing, doing yoga, lounging by the pool, meditating, taking cooking classes, reading, and overall having a very relaxing time doing nothing for once—UNTIL he watches a safety precaution video about what to do it the ship sinks or a tragedy occurs.

Now Sephiroth is anxious. He realizes that he's essentially on a floating accident waiting to happen in the middle of the ocean. His vacation can turn into yet another mission risking countless lives.

• Zack and Cloud are having a blast at Queen's Blood tournaments, shuffleboard, going to the water park, and swimming at the pool. They even bring Sephiroth along, because they want to make sure their friend is having a nice time.

*At the pool*

Zack: Isn't this fun?

Cloud: Yup! Sephiroth, are you having fun?

Sephiroth: Actually, if a sudden movement due to the unpredictability of the sea occurs, the water in the pool would create a wave that would sweep us overboard toward our deaths.

Zack:

Cloud:

Sephiroth: There is nothing fun about death.

• Genesis is the most excited about attending the theater performances on the cruise and gambling at the casino. He too brings Sephiroth along.

Genesis: You'll see how exciting this is.

Sephiroth: Actually, if an argument were to occur over a drastic loss of one's earnings, it could escalate into an altercation between two passengers, leading to death. We would then be stuck on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean with a murderer on board.

Genesis: What on earth is wrong with you?

Sephiroth: Well—

Genesis: Nevermind. We don't have that much time.

• Angeal has a great time taking pictures of the ship, participating in scavenger hunts and underwater excursions. He's relaxing, hanging back with a cocktail and lounging by the seaside. If only Sephiroth would put that damn notebook away.

Sephiroth: According to my calculations, it would take exactly five hours for help to arrive if the ship were to sink. Judging from the amount of passengers and the survey I conducted yesterday that revealed that an alarming 40% of the passengers do not know how to swim, that brings the survival rate down to—

Swimming with Enhypen (pool edition)

As Heeseung's the flirtiest member, I think he'd take the time you two are spending in the pool to show you physical affection. He's caressing your whole silhouette, he'd dive and kiss your tummy whenever he's underwater, making you giggle. He would put some background music to create an atmophere where you two can relax and kiss. Those would be his favorite moments with you and he will probably make a lot of photos and polaroids of it. Heeseung looks like the type of person who's taking you to the pool whenever you want, even if it's in winter, you two will just chill in a jacuzzi.

First of all, he wants privacy. I think Jay would rent an indoor pool somewhere so you two can do whatever you want (and no one is watching you wearing that bathing suit). Jay also wants to show you his progresses at the gym by doing exercises in water, failing, because you would make him laugh as you mock him. He will ask you to do exercises too but you'll just reject it and swim around Jay to annoy him. I think swimming with him would be very funny, whenever you try to get out of the pool, expect him to push you again in the water. He might get in the pool with his sunglasses (even if it's an indoor pool) because even if he's messing with you, he still wants to look cool.

I think Jake would think about your health first, so he's applying the sunscreen on you before you could dive. Jake is also hugging you every time he has a chance, he'd lean his head on your shoulder and play with your hair. When you dive you can see him from underwater and he's always looking at you smiling with his puppy eyes, proud of you. Whenever you need anything, he's probably going out of the pool to go grab it for you. I also think he's bringing some balloons so you two can play together.

I don't think Sunghoon is a big fan of swimming, but I'm sure he's having fun doing it with you. Even if it means he has to deal with the guys looking at you, and he hates that. He is fine just floating with you and look at the sky without saying a word, and I can see him pulling you down underwater to prank you. He won't spend that much time in water, so after he goes out, he's still watching you having fun in the pool, he might take videos and photos to show you how happy you were.

Swimming with Sunoo can be summarized in "laughter" and "dying from laughter". He's going to play the whole time, but first, he's going to take a few minutes before he actually gets in the pool. I'm sure you two will also argue on who should go inside the pool first, "you go first" "no you go first". You might give up and go in, but if the water is too cold, he's going to take some time, so you'll shoot him with the water guns until he's in ( + whenever you do it, he's screaming like a dolphin). But I mean imagine seeing Sunoo trying to float with his cheeks in front of you, wouldn't that be the cutest thing ever? (he might ask you to do the same)

He might be the type of boyfriend that will teach you different ways of swimming, even the weirdest ones just to have fun. Jungwon won't stay still for a second if you're in the water with him, but when he finally gets tired of swimming, he's starting to sing for you. Jungwon will pull out an entire playlist with your favorite songs and do a karaoke for you. I guess you'll just close your eyes and chill at the edge of the pool as he sings.

I think Niki's the annoying kid that makes you want to go out of the pool as soon as possibile. You want to go out? no, he's throwing you in the pool again. You want to swim? then it's going to be a swimming competition. He'll ask you to play games such as compete on who can hold their breath longer, who can swim faster and so on. If you lose, he's mocking you for the rest of your life but if you win, he's telling you he made you win on purpose.

Developing an Inner Safe Space for Parts

Note: This post was written for people with dissociative disorders, but anyone else can use the methods here if they're helpful!

This post is all about inner safe spaces! What is an inner safe space, though? Here's what Coping with Trauma-related Dissociation says:

"Inner safe spaces are images of places where you can be safe, relaxed, and cared for. These images have been shown to be helpful to many people, not just those with dissociative disorders. This type of imaginal activity is well known to produce a feeling of relaxation and well-being in those who use it regularly. If your inner experience feels so jarring, unsafe, and frightening, as it often does in individuals with dissociative disorders, the ability to imagine these spaces becomes especially important and helpful."

Inner safe spaces can be useful for many things. You can use it to relax & alleviate anxiety. It can be a tool for soothing dissociated parts of the self, or aide in your communication with them. You or other parts can enter your inner safe space to protect yourself from feeling overwhelmed or potential triggers. Overall, creating an inner safe space can help make your mind a safer, calmer place.

So, how do you make one? All you have to do is imagine it!

Your inner safe space can be anything you want to imagine. There are no rules and it can always be changed! You can create one imaginary place for all parts of your system to share & add to. Or, each part of your system can create their own inner safe spaces to match their own needs. Some people already experience some sort of inner world, too. This can always be changed in order to make it feel safer and calmer for all parts of the system.

🌟 Ideas for inner safe spaces:

Outdoor areas like a meadow, beach, forest, mountain, etc.

Buildings like a cabin, tree house, castle, library, etc.

Vehicles like a car, pirate ship, submarine, spacecraft, etc.

Something underground, underwater, in the sky, or in space.

An entire planet or world of your own.

A fictional world that brings you comfort.

An inner safe space isn't a safe space if it doesn't make you, including all parts of you, feel safe. A good place to start is by writing down things that make you feel safe. If you don't know what makes you feel safe, try looking at what makes you feel less unsafe. It might also help to ask a loved one or therapist for help!

Invite your system to include their own needs, too. Try not to judge them even if you disagree. It's important for all parts of the system to feel safe.

🌟 Ideas for things that you can add/adjust to make your inner safe space feel more comfortable:

Add games, food, and movies that you like

Create individual rooms for each part of the system

Give yourself an inner appearance that makes you happy

Add your favorite colors, sounds, smells, & sights

Add people, characters, animals & creatures that you like

Give yourself a comfortable bed, with soft blankets & maybe even some plushies

Add pride flags!

Create a protective force field around your safe space

You or other parts may want to have a safe space that no one else can intrude upon and that's okay. It's important to respect each other's privacy. You can also adjust the inner safe space to make communication between parts easier! For example, you could add intercoms, mailboxes, telephones, or even a meeting area for aiding communication.

Drawing or painting it.

Writing about it.

Building it. You can use a video game like the Sims (get it for free!) or Minecraft.

Basing it off of a real place.

Collecting photos/videos of what you want it to be like. You can find royalty-free images on Unsplash and Pixabay. Or you create a Pinterest account!

Filling a journal, document, blog, or discord server with pictures, writing, and anything you want about your inner safe space!

Trying guided exercises for creating inner safe spaces. (IMO this is best done with a therapist's help.)

Asking your friends, therapist, or loved ones for their suggestions.

Creating a physical safe space instead of an inner one.

Summer break was the time to relax. With the craze of the season coming to a pause, we knew that we wanted to spend it at home. We were originally invited to go to Milton Keynes with most of the grid, but with all the hecticness surrounding Danny, we just wanted to stay at our home in Monaco. We just needed to get away from everyone.  

The season has been all over the place. With Danny getting back on the grid two races ago after doing simulator testing constantly, to say that the summer break was welcomed would be an understatement. So we caught the first flight out of Belgium with a group of drivers also heading back to Monaco. 

The first couple of days were spent catching up on sleep. After that, we thought that we would get the relaxation started. Days on the yacht were the best to spend these kinds of days. 

“You’re not gonna leave me to swim by myself are you?” Danny laughed as he came up from the water after jumping off the back of the boat. “The water would feel better with you in it.”

“I think I’m fine up here,” I chuckled, looking up from my book to see him floating on his back. “My book’s just getting good.”

“Just for a little bit?” Danny pleaded, swimming over to the side of the boat. “It’s boring without you.”

“You know I hate the ocean,” I laughed, marking my place and setting my book to the side in case Danny tries to splash me or pull me in. “I am perfectly fine, talking to you from the safety of the yacht.”

“Safety, you say?” He whispered, and before I knew it, I was underwater. When I surfaced, I’m met with Danny’s laugh. He had his arms tightly around my waist, holding me above the water, as he leaned back. It took him a couple of seconds to catch his breath before he moved to be upright and meet my glare. “That wasn’t so hard, now was it?”

“You know I can’t swim, so you better not let go,” I complained, wrapping my arms around his shoulders to help hold myself up. He jokingly started to pull away, pushing me toward the edge of the boat. I started whining, gripping his shoulders tighter, “No, please don’t, Danny. Please don’t. I’m scared.”

“I wouldn’t do that to you,” He pulled me back into his chest with a kiss on my forehead. He was pulling me further out but not letting up on his grip on my sides. “Just relax. I’m not gonna let go.”

“Kinda hard to relax in a giant body of water with things at least twice my size that want to eat me,” I replied sarcastically. “I was perfectly fine, talking to you from the boat.”

“But I got lonely,” he pouted. “You don’t want to let me be lonely on summer break, do you?”

“You say that like I was ignoring you,” I chuckled, pulling back a little to look into his big brown eyes. “I was reading and talking to you. If you felt that lonely, you could've just said so, and I would’ve given you my full attention. You didn’t need to pull me in.”

“Well, maybe I just wanted to hold you,” He countered with a huge smile. “Maybe I just wanted to hold you close because I missed you the past two weeks.”

“And that’s fair,” I validated before jokingly adding, “I am pretty amazing, so it’s understandable that you would miss me.”

“Don’t stroke your ego too much. I’m just needy,” he joked back. Our laughs fizzled out as we just floated around as silence fell between us. I had my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat as I closed my eyes to bask in the brief moment. He needed this silence after the hectic month he had with the move to Alpha Tauri. This was needed.

Vil comes up with a full care routine to keep your wings looking and feeling perfect

He will not let you take him flying, simply due to the fact that he doesn't want to risk ruining his makeup, but he will fly nearby on a broom while you fly

Has a strange urge to hide you from Rook at times (You have wings, you're like a bird to him - Rook is a hunter...in his opinion, you two should be kept far away from each other as often as possible)
