It is so heavy that I have had to set it aside until I can spend a fair amount of time with the dining table all to myself. I think I weighed the bullion at over 3kg, and the gown itself is as heavy again due to lining in a coarse linen underling and a light as air silk dupion. There is a fully braided jubon to go under this too. And a verdugados of green with crimson velvet casing. You can play Spot the Wormie if you follow this series of development of my work since 2006. The fire ruined so much that I had to remove all the sequins. Then I decided I really needed lots of leaves, then actually to try some dimensional, now more dimension and from more pearls. Scarlet in one direction and a slightly berry in the other. This doesn't create a metallic effect as you get with a pale and dark shot fabric but it does add a little extra lustre. I really need to remake the petticoat. Though this ensemble does the opposite of most frocks from Brunswick of this time- the stripes are on the outside. Normally they are on the underskirt and very very carefully pressed into stark accordian pleats, and striped like bees! I managed to get this silk for a very cheap price as it was full of sizing and creased and needed to be washed a few times to remove the (deliberate) creases.
