Thanks to fangamer selling Ace attorney beanie and rest of his outfit being easily replicated I now can do pretty solid Phoenix Wright cosplay (I might actually put some efford into it and wear it for AF next year bc it's fun and I want pictures with my friends)
So of course I immediately threw together my best attempt and took pictures with my Miles Edgeworth body pillow because I simply can

I’m always eager to find irl people to use as references for Regis and Dettlaff (since shots of them from different angles are often scarce), and to me this guy is like a direct mashup of both of them. His name is Antonio Gades, and he was a Spanish dancer.

Jonelias thought of the day is that Elias must come across as so stuffy and boring to those at the Institute - which, you know, very much helps hide his true nature - but as an avatar of the Eye and a man determined to avoid the End, Elias is someone whose entire being revolves around the interplay of knowledge and experiences. He's compelled to Know it all and his efforts to avoid death invite him to Experience it all too, a fascinating combination of passive observer and, by virtue of being a 200+ year-old in search of true immortality, an active participant too. This is a man whose longevity and thirst for knowledge invites an obsession with life that contradicts the 'Sits in his office doing nothing but spreadsheets all day' image he's learned to cultivate. (Though, to be clear, he does love the spreadsheets.) And I don't just mean "obsession with life" in the sense of him avoiding the finality of death, but actually loving the act of being alive.
I think a lot of what the fandom (rightly) jokes about in regards to his characterization is a reflection of that obsession. Elias has a relationship with Peter Lukas that goes far beyond the cold practicality of an alliance, hinting at a romance (if you steer towards a LonelyEyes reading), or just Elias' desire to still be able to place bets with someone while he's trying to end the world. Similarly, his powers ensure that he's never truly alone - if he dies, he takes the rest of the Archive with him - forever supplying him with a warped companionship that doesn't threaten him like he perceives he was threatened as Jonah Magnus, with his acquaintances working to complete their own rituals. In true Beholding style, he's got the heart of a fucked-up scientist who's endlessly curious about the world around him: 'Oooh what happens if I let my friend waste away in the Lonely?' He shows up at Jon's birthday party not just to secretly gloat and keep an eye on things (ha), but because he legitimately wants cake. Who wouldn't want cake? What's the point of living forever if you can't have cake?? Well, for an avatar the exquisite sweetness of fear is just as good, but my point stands. Beyond his fear of death, that enjoyment is at the heart of Elias' goal, with Jon describing his experience as the Pupil as a kind of agonized bliss and Elias confirming this by saying he was having the most wonderful dream. Morality aside, he likes interacting with the horror of the Entities, something we saw all the way back during the "[PLEASURED EXHALATION]" scene. Learning new things feels good. Experiencing news things is enjoyable. Learning and experiencing Bad Things is especially nice given his patron. Consistently, Elias' setbacks are met with interest, or a mild annoyance that then eventually settles into satisfaction because they are also new experiences for him and the Eye: going to jail, getting to psychologically torture Martin, having his own secrets exposed. There's a lot throughout the series to imply that Elias enjoys watching Jon become the Key, not just because it means he's succeeding in his goals, but because there's genuine interest and pride in seeing him "grow" by Elias' standards. The repetition of "our world," "our patron," etc. implies a connection; the intention to experience this new world with another, to enjoy it rather than simply exist in it for the mere sake of existence. Elias is a man whose entire essence boils down to, "I NEED TO KNOW ALL THE THINGS, EXPERIENCE EVERYTHING, AND LIVE FOREVER WHILE ACHIEVING THAT, TO UNDERSTAND IT ALL SO I CAN CONTROL IT ALL AND HAVE A DAMN GOOD TIME IN THE PROCESS, EVEN WHILE I SUCCUMB TO THE PRIMAL FEAR THAT DRIVES ME I WILL PARADOXICALLY EMBRACE IT, AND YEAH THAT'S LARGELY BECAUSE I SERVE THE LITERAL GOD OF JUDGY SURVEILLANCE BUT ALSO THAT'S JUST ME."
So anyway, I keep thinking about how this characterization could intersect with S1-2 Jon: prickly, awkward, semi-isolated, desperate to be recognized by someone whose authority he believes in. AKA the boss who, at an unprecedented young age, rose to the top of the Institute they both work at, perceived by those around him as far less interesting than he actually is. Parallels, anyone? Imagine Jon getting to really talk to Elias, realizing how much he has to offer after 200 years of life (though of course he doesn't know that), and just constantly being blindsided by not just the knowledge, but the enthusiasm for everything he's learned and been through - the good and the horrifyingly awful that, despite himself, Jon is equally drawn to. Elias recognizes every quote Jon drops into a conversation and has another witty line to pair it with. He doesn't just indulge his nerdy rambles, but participates in them. He's refined in all the ways that Jon expects - books, opera, music, etc. - and also casually drops in references to acid trips and fucking orgies. Imagine an early series Jon who forms a strong bond with Elias outside of the web (ha x2) he's been weaving, becoming dependent on his friendship and just a little bit completely in love. Elias is inherently fascinating, but he's also just Some Guy, and the combination of that is just perfect for a necrotic Archivist who simultaneously wants to be guided by his 'betters' and prove that he's an equal. Why Elias would be interested in turn barely needs stating: Jon is literally Elias' everything, in a horrifyingly tragic and like, Gothic Romance sense? What would that kind of relationship have changed? It would have likely made Elias' job even easier, but what about Jon?
...I'm not saying that Jon's drive to protect humanity would have been warped into something tragically dangerous if he'd first come to see his intelligent, complex, shockingly kind (from his nonexistent self-esteem POV), secretly-an-eldritch-monster boss as the epitome of humanity... but I'm also not saying it couldn't have!

So I found some Rawfury videos of Yuri Lowenthal, Krizia Bajos and Cissy Jones talking about their characters and talking about the game before it was released (I was looking for clips for OC voice claims) and there was something in Cissy's Vivian video that kinda stuck out to me.
So what she says about Vivian exactly is: "Arcadia to her is- its not only where she's built her career, its where she's building her legacy, and uh, for her this is something really important. She wants to leave something of value, something that's worth a lot to people-"
Now, from a non spoiler point of view this is like, oh yeah rich Ceo lady wants to leave a mark on the world. Ceos are always talking about legacy, wanting to leave something behind, be something great yadda yadda. Added bonus if you know that she's supposed to be Elijah's '''Granddaughter''', she wants to continue her family's legacy all checks out.
But, knowing who she really is, not Elijah's granddaughter but one of the Arcadia 6, makes this sentence a lot more interesting. You could see this as her wanting to remake her legacy, because she technically already had one. Emily Garland is one of the 6 Arcadian born citizens to escape the dome, that's something pretty cool to be known for. But she threw that away, she sold out and chose to support the very company that oppressed her and many others like her. So now she has to make something more of herself to justify that choice. If she can make Arcadia greater, bring it out of its current slump like Howard Ashman did for Disney, then she's no longer the escapee who sold out because she was too weak to handle the outside world, she's the amazing woman who made American Arcadia popular again!
Cissy goes on to say: "-and so she works really really hard to make this thing, um, the best it can be with the most interesting people-" (She also goes on to call Trevor 'a bit of an L 7' or a square and I think that's really funny, like yeah, yeah he wouldn't be there, he would be square)
She does work really hard to leave something that, in her eyes, is positive to her image. She's reinventing herself to make her crawling back to the company worth it. To prove to herself that it wasn't a mistake and to leave a legacy that, hopefully, most people will look fondly on instead of in contempt or betrayal. She wants to leave something of value, because I can imagine there is a part of her that doesn't hold any value in herself, not after failing to make a difference that actually mattered and becoming part of the problem.
And I dunno I feel like that adds just an extra layer to her which is pretty cool. I could also be reading way too much into this idk.
Anyway, the other two videos are very cool too. Yuri talks about how Trevor's life isn't boring like Walton thinks it is, its just 'Exciting in the wrong way'. He also talks about how he thinks lots of people will relate to Trevor (So true) and how just because your life may be simple, it doesn't mean its boring and not worth living which I think is very sweet. Thank you Yuri. Krizia talks about how she really related to Angela because she grew up on Puerto Rico and how she got to add a couple of 'spicy words' as she put it, in her dialogue for a bit of extra authenticity. She also talked about how Walton was the job Angela always wanted, but after 'peaking behind the curtain' she realised that it wasn't the dream she thought is was, it's both kinda heart breaking but also very relatable, especially I'm sure to those in the entertainment industry. It makes me really want to know what her 'peak behind the curtain' moment was and what the steps where to get her to this point in more detail (Hey hey, Out of the Blue, hey please. please make that prologue thing you said was a good idea of mine on twitter. Hey, please? Please? It has the Regi Davis stamp of approval, please?)
The videos are very cool I'll put them under the cut if you're interested. I just wanted to have a ramble cause I haven't in a while and I've just been thinking about this.

There is something very funny to me about the asymmetry between Carmen and Regill's opinions of each other. "She's a reasonable and effective leader" vs. "were it not for the laws of this land and at least three advisors I would hang Paralictor Derenge in the square of Drezen myself"

god i love geralt/regis so much. they deserve each other so so so much. someone who accepts them for who they are and doen't just nag at everything they do. someone they don't have to hide aspects of themselves from. someone they can trust despite or maybe even because of their natures. it's that monster/monster hunter dynamic that never misses. like oh yeah one of them was trained to hate the other and hunt and kill them. the other has learned to hide from the hunter, to stay undercover and to be wary of them. Yet they fall in love anyway and despite their instincts screaming at them not to, they sleep soundly in each other's arms. Yeah...

In Sola & Nox verse, how old was she when she had her whoops babies the first time? Was she already married to Libs or did they have to organise a super rushed wedding too?
@secret-engima more Whoops Baby fun times!
Sola was 21 when she and Lib had their whoops twins. By this point they’ve only been dating a year, though Sola’d been openly flirting with Lib for a year before that.
Sola and Libertus end up proposing to each other shortly after Sola discovers that she’s pregnant. Honestly, neither of them are in a hurry to get married, Galahdian culture doesn’t put emphasis on parents being married like Lucian culture does, and Sola’s never given a damn about Lucian nobility’s delicate sensibilities before, she’s sure as shit not gonna start now. Besides, it’s not like she’s the only one at court to have a kid out of wedlock - Plenus Egestas near had a stroke when his daughter wound up pregnant with no father in sight.
Besides, anyone talking shit about Sola’s children being bastards within earshot of any of the royal family will find themselves regretting that in short order, because Sola’s reaction will be the least of their worries compared to her male relatives.
But both Libertus and Sola are soldiers. They know the risks of their profession all too well. They marry (Galahdian-style at first, the Royal Wedding can come after Sola gives birth because she’s not going to rush the planning just to squeeze into a dress) mostly to give their children the extra legal protections afforded under Lucian law. And so no one in court can get it into their heads to try to deny Libertus parental rights simply because he wasn’t her husband. Is it paranoid? Perhaps, but Sola would rather be safe than sorry when it comes to Libertus and her kids, in the event she’s no longer around to protect them.
I haven’t decided when Sola winds up pregnant the first time exactly, but in the theme of surprise pregnancies at the worst possible time… she probably finds out while out on rotation on the front lines. At first she thinks it might be a stomach bug or hangover, she and the off duty glaives at the time did have a few drinks and she wasn’t the only one feeling it the next morning because Sola’s regeneration doesn’t actually fix dehydration, rip.
Only the stomach bug doesn’t go away. On the second day Sola goes to the medics because if it is a bug then they need to get her on antibiotics or antivirals asap.
Surprise, it’s not a bug!
Sola’s immediately yanked from the front and placed on desk duties, because if Sola miscarries Titus wants to be able to tell her family that it was not because of anything related to the glaives. He does not want that headache.
Titus also yanks Sola’s Retinue, because he’s not an idiot, there’s no way they’d be able to focus in the field. Libertus is yanked too, as the presumptive father and as Nyx’s only Braincell.
Titus also, politely, requests Sola tell her relatives sooner rather than later about her pregnancy. The King is aware that Sola was yanked from the front for medical reasons, and isn’t actually entitled to know anything beyond that unless Sola volunteers it, but Titus asks that Sola spare him the stress of dealing with her panicky father and uncles.
Nox, of course, is already aware, having been on the front lines with her when it was discovered, with that particular piece of gossip ripping through the gleeful glaives faster than a wildfire in Cavaugh in a drought.
Sola refuses to say anything until Cid arrives in the Citadel, claiming she only wants to explain once - a bald-faced lie, she just wants to get everyone at the same time.
Noctis lights up in excitement at the announcement he’s going to be an uncle. Ignis’ jaw drops in surprise before he recovers, and Gladio actually falls into a wall. (If Prompto has joined the Chocobros at this point, he’ll flail.)
Ardyn goes statue-still, which is probably the best reaction of shock Sola will ever get out of him, before he’s on his feet embracing Sola in a hug and spinning her around. Titus just looks relieved that he doesn’t have to keep dodging questions about Sola’s health anymore. Penny, meanwhile, is eyeing Sola like she’s already measuring her for new outfits.
Nothing can shock Clarus as much as meeting his own grandchildren and then his son in the span of fifteen minutes. Instead, he looks wryly amused, knowing he has no leg to stand on when it comes to having kids out of wedlock. Cor is oh-so-slightly wide-eyed as he processes the announcement, but Cor.exe has very much stopped working, please check back in about ten minutes.
Cid, of course, is laughing his ass off, wheezing something along the lines of ‘I hope you have kids just like you’-
Regis runs a hand down his face, exasperated and resigned and reluctantly wry. Of all the things for his daughter to surprise him with. He opens his mouth, starts to lecture her, only for Sola to raise an unimpressed brow at him, retorting that Regis has no room to lecture her when she was born only a couple months after he and Mama married.
And Six, she looks so much like her mother in that instant - Aulea never had much patience for his dramatics either - that Regis feels a swell of love and fondness. And Sola is clearly so happy about it, so Regis places his own reservations aside and congratulates her and Libertus instead.
Of course, then Sola finds out she’s having twins. And the temptation is too much for her to resist, so she and Libertus are the only ones that actually know she’s having twins.
(Nox and Axis suspect. Nox because he actually has memories of being pregnant from previous Queens, and Axis because he’s a father of triplets and has passing familiarity with the signs of a multiple pregnancy.)
(Ardyn also suspects something, but only because he can feel his niece’s gleeful anticipation. Being a fellow chaos gremlin, Ardyn refuses to spoil Sola’s fun.)
Meanwhile, the glaives in Insomnia get to experience the sheer terror of having a very pregnant Sola as their drill instructor, Abyssus and her Retinue all too willing to be her assistants in delivering her Training from Ifrit’s Pyre. >:)
Haven’t decided on names yet, alas.

Give me the tea, I gotta know why Liara is so low on that list. Did they never click from the start or was it a gradual thing? Did they patch up at all?
oh man, you have opened the floodgates! going to go ahead and put this under a cut since it's going to be a bit long :)
ME1
Regis prioritizes Therum last. He just doesn't see the need to go after Benezia's daughter until the end. (His order is Noveria-Feros-Virmire-Therum). And after everything he's been through to get to that point, he's impatient, he's angry, he's running on fumes after Virmire and getting both Ash and Kaidan out, and the last thing he needs is someone he perceives as a civilian and possible liability on board his warship. He refuses to meld with her (thank you Skeptical Shepard mod that allows this in game), and they find another way through Regis's own detailed logs about his visions, Tali's algorithms that help search galaxy maps to match with his descriptions, and Liara's own knowledge.
Hell, once they get to the Citadel to petition to the Council, he suggests putting her in protective custody as a precaution, but that is denied (along with the Normandy going to Ilos, as in canon). So he never really interacts with her more than needed, and after the Saren mission is over, I headcanon that she is no longer on the ship and the events continue as in canon.
Mostly. In one of my fics I have my asari matriarch OC, Vik--who also happens to be Regis's uncle's long-term partner--find out through their Omega connects that Liara approached a Shadow Broker agent and Cerberus about something and that starts my AU for how I deal with Liara in Regis's canon. Kaidan learns about it, tells the Alliance (read: Hackett) about it, and Hackett and his team keeps an eye on her.
ME2
Regis doesn't find out that Liara brought him back through her. He finds out from patched together information from Vik and Kaidan that leads him approaching Aria about it, who happily spills the tea. Aria knew the whole time and could've let Vik in, but information always comes at a cost. The information is effectively useless now that Regis is back.
The moment he finds out that Liara is behind his resurrection, Regis goes ballistic. At least, inwardly. He hides it well until he gets back to the Normandy, goes off on Miranda about not telling him a former member of his crew bringing him back, and has a major crisis. Thankfully, he has at least Zaeed with him (and Kaidan on vid call), but it's not great because Regis realizes that his dogtags and his father's ring could easily be in her hands.
So yeah, things between them can't ever really be repaired. Regis gains some pretty serious trust issues after this, he blames her for the black mark on his name and career, and of course, the aforementioned ring the was symbol of what could've been his and Kaidan's commitment if Alchera hadn't happened.
Illium happens as normal. He hides his anger, only comes in to get the information on Samara and Thane, and quietly plans his revenge after the mission, because now, he sees the Collector threat as extremely serious and doesn't want to be distracted by her just yet.
So, how do I deal with the Shadow Broker DLC?
I introduced an OC in my last fic--Wren Clarkson--who is based on my N7 Fury multiplayer character (and basically my main). She's kind of one of Hackett's main agents and does a lot of missions that require a lot of heavy biotic power (or just a lot of power and combat prowess in general). And I want her to be part of the greater Regis canon since I've always wanted more N7s in game to interact with.
After finishing up on Illium, he finds out through Wren (who has been watching Liara under Hackett's orders) that Liara's apartment is under investigation and to come quick.
He sees this as an opportunity to gain the upper hand. If he helps her and then lets slip what he knows? Could be good leverage to get what he wants back.
So, he does, he finds his armor in the case, goes on another rage, and Zaeed and Samara just barely bring him back from the brink. He decides to work with Wren and Vasir to find out what the hell is going on and meet up with Liara as normal during the mission (except this time, Regis knows how to cushion his fall with biotics thankyouverymuch).
The DLC more or less proceeds as normal, but with lots of indifference pointed towards Liara on Regis's end (because he's not about to reveal to her how much she betrayed him just yet), and eventually it gets to the point where they go after the Broker's ship after dealing with Vasir. Regis, Liara, Wren, and Zaeed go on the mission together, and this proceeds as normal until they reach the Shadow Broker.
This is basically me writing off Liara as nicely as I can, so she gets knocked out for most of the fight, Regis, Zaeed, and Wren deal with the Broker, and Regis orders Wren to deal with the network as they check on Liara. Wren is not happy about doing it but realizes how useful it can be to the Alliance (read: Hackett's Alliance) and puts herself into the Broker role.
Liara is fine, not too happy about missing out on revenge, and Regis gives her an ultimatum: Leave with Feron and make sure he's okay and heals and never get involved again with anything related to Regis, or he will turn her into the Alliance for conspiracy and working with Cerberus and the reason why his name and career is permanently marred. This is where he gets honest with his feelings.
She takes the out, but before she leaves, she sends Regis some files and a security key. He doesn't look at it until Liara leaves with Feron on a spare shuttle, but it's some information about where she kept his dogtags and ring, along with some more information about his resurrection.
Regis, again, isn't too happy about this, but ultimately lets her go as he got what he wanted in the end. His ring and dogtags back, his old omnitool, and effectively, got his revenge on the person who brought him to Cerberus by holding a threat over her head that he could revoke at any time with the Shadow Broker able to track her down if need be.
And boom, no Liara for ME3, and I get to have fun with my multiplayer character for ME3 instead.
TL;DR
In ME1, Regis prioritizes other missions over Liara's rescue, doesn't trust her on the Normandy, and has minimal interaction. In ME2, he learns that Liara resurrected him, feels betrayed, and plans revenge. During the Shadow Broker DLC, he helps Liara under the guise of gaining leverage, but he ends up giving her an ultimatum to leave or face consequences. Liara leaves, and Regis gets his belongings back, effectively removing her from ME3, allowing for better character interactions with ones I actually like :)

I really like the idea that regenerating Regis caused him (and possibly also Dettlaff) to visibly age. However, after seeing pictures like this gorgeous shot from @nocna-orchidea and noticing how they have certain features in common, I wonder if the blood-sharing ritual resulted in a sort of brotherly resemblance.

Do you have any age headcanons for the Khans (Papa, Regis, Melissa, Diane, Jack, Jerry, Chance, Jessup, McMurphy, Manny)? I am starved of Great Khan content istg 😞
I do actually! SOME anyway... they've moved around a little since the start of some of my stories but as it stands UH
Papa Khan: Papa I tend to pit at 60, making him 20 when the Chosen One attacked Vault 15 during fo2. He's far from the oldest Khan. Additional headcanon, I think he joined the New Khans when he was 14 years old which is a tragedy but he doesn't see it that way
Regis: He's one that I've changed recently, he's 59, making him 19 during fo2. He teases Papa about being the younger man. Also additional hc, I think he was 17 when he joined the New Khans, so his and Papa's attachment to them from the beginning was very different.
Melissa: I don't have a set age for Melissa, but I tend to think of her as one of the younger, a generation or so behind Jessup and co. Maybe like 25 or something?
Diane and Jack: Again, nothing really set in stone for these two but I do think they're the same age. Maybe a little younger than Melissa? They just seem a little more immature than her.
Chance: Chance I actually think is older than a lot of people expect, like one of the first Great Khans born when the Great Khans were actually a thing yknow? I personally make him 39 but that's just for my story reasons and I understand if people don't agree
Manny Vargas and Jessup: Both Manny and Jessup are the same age as Sun, who is 30 during the events of New Vegas. For Manny it puts him close enough in age to Craig (27) but also old enough to be running around with the Khans when they arrived in Vegas 14 years ago (making him 16 when he, Jessup and Sun met). Jessup is the same age as Sun purely for the "breastmilk brothers" joke but they were born pretty close to eachother and have been going on playdates since before they could talk
McMurphy: McMurphy is a littttle older than Jessup and Sun, I haven't fully decided how much older tho. Like 3 years older max, making him 33. I just need him to be in a slightly different age category as Jessup and Sun, but close enough so that they still get grouped up together to go on their first raids and stuff, and he just acts like an annoyed older brother in all roads
BONUS Oscar Velasco: I make Oscar 71 years old, 10+ years older than Papa and Regis and 31 when Vault 15 was attacked. I make him this age because he comes across to me as someone whos lived a whole life before becoming a Khan raider, which makes me think he got roped into it after something happened to him, rather than getting caught up as a teenager like Papa and Regis. He is a tragedy because he had a nice secure life, got forced into being a raider, then built back a family and a good life, then lost them and became a petty raider again. He makes me so sooo sad
