How to Buy a Water Cooler for Your Office?
Drinking at least 6 to 8 glasses of water every day is critical for maintaining good health. As we spend a considerable amount of time at our workplace, it’s important to have a water cooler that will provide fresh drinking water. Nowadays, multiple variants of water coolers are available in the market. Therefore, choosing the most suitable one for your office can be confusing. To make it simpler, we have shared some practical tips.
Tumblr media
1. Decide your budget- The money that you will be spending on the cooler is the most important factor. While plumbed-in water coolers can require a more upfront investment, in the long run, they can be more cost-effective than refillable water coolers.
2. Storage capacity- Your water cooler should provide sufficient drinking water every day. Therefore, if there is a large workforce, you should look for a plumbed-in floor-standing cooler or other options that will provide an endless supply of water. Similarly, for a smaller office, a bubblers & under sink water cooler can be a good option.
3. Check the functionality- Modern-age water coolers come with numerous advanced features, such as hot and cold water dispensers, touchless sensors, and instant boiling water taps. Moreover, many environment-friendly coolers use CFC-free refrigeration. Plus, there are energy-efficient models providing excellent cooling quickly. You should look for a product that provides all the requisite features.
Shopping online for water coolers in Australia, you can find numerous water coolers in different sizes, models, functionality, and water usage. The above-mentioned tips will help you choose the perfect water cooler for your office. Some companies like Smarter Water also offer
customized products that suit your office space’s unique requirements. On a final note, we suggest you to find out about the care and maintenance that a particular unit will require.

Common Myths and Misconceptions About Air Coolers
Tumblr media
Air coolers are a popular and efficient cooling solution for homes and offices, especially in regions with hot and dry climates. However, there are numerous myths and misconceptions about air coolers that can lead to misunderstandings about their functionality and benefits. At Ram Coolers, we aim to provide clear and accurate information to help you make informed decisions about your cooling needs. In this blog, we will debunk some of the most common air cooler myths and provide you with the truth about air coolers.
Myth 1: Air Coolers Are Ineffective in Humid Climates
One of the most pervasive myths about air coolers is that they are ineffective in humid climates. While it’s true that air coolers work best in dry conditions, modern air coolers are designed to provide cooling even in humid environments. Advanced air coolers come with features like humidity control, which allows them to function effectively by reducing the moisture level in the air. Additionally, placing the air cooler near open windows or doors can help improve air circulation and enhance cooling efficiency.
Myth 2: Air Coolers Are Just Like Fans
Another common misconception is that air coolers are no different from regular fans. In reality, air coolers operate on a different principle known as evaporative cooling. Unlike fans that merely circulate air, air coolers use water evaporation to reduce air temperature. As air passes through water-soaked cooling pads, it loses heat and becomes cooler before being circulated into the room. This process makes air coolers significantly more effective at lowering temperatures than fans.
Myth 3: Air Coolers Consume a Lot of Electricity
Many people believe that air coolers consume a large amount of electricity, similar to air conditioners. However, this is not true. Air coolers are designed to be energy-efficient and consume far less electricity than traditional air conditioning units. This makes them a cost-effective cooling solution, particularly for long-term use. The lower power consumption of air coolers also means they have a smaller environmental footprint compared to air conditioners.
Myth 4: Air Coolers Are Not Suitable for Large Spaces
Some users think that air coolers are only effective for small rooms or spaces. While it’s true that the cooling capacity of an air cooler depends on its size and design, there are many models available that are suitable for larger areas. Industrial air coolers, for instance, are specifically designed to cool expansive spaces such as warehouses, factories, and large living areas. By choosing the right size and model, you can effectively cool larger spaces with an air cooler.
Myth 5: Air Coolers Cause Health Problems
There is a misconception that air coolers can cause health issues such as respiratory problems or allergies. In fact, air coolers can improve indoor air quality by filtering dust and pollen through their cooling pads. They also add moisture to the air, which can be beneficial in dry climates where air conditioning can lead to dry skin and respiratory discomfort. Regular maintenance, including cleaning the cooling pads and water reservoir, ensures that air coolers provide clean and healthy air.
Myth 6: Air Coolers Require Constant Water Refilling
A common myth is that air coolers need to be constantly refilled with water, making them inconvenient to use. While air coolers do require water to function, most modern units come with large water tanks that can last for several hours or even a full day without needing a refill. Additionally, some air coolers are equipped with water level indicators and automatic shut-off features that make them more user-friendly and convenient to operate.
Myth 7: Air Coolers Are Noisy
Many people assume that air coolers are noisy and disruptive. While older models might have been louder, advancements in technology have led to the development of quieter air coolers. Today’s air coolers are designed with noise-reduction features and operate at sound levels that are comparable to, or even quieter than, many fans and air conditioners. This makes them suitable for use in bedrooms, offices, and other quiet environments.
Myth 8: Air Coolers Are Only Useful in Summer
It’s a common belief that air coolers are only useful during the hot summer months. However, air coolers can be beneficial throughout the year. During the monsoon season, they help in maintaining a comfortable indoor environment by reducing humidity levels. In fall and winter, when indoor heating can make the air dry, air coolers can add necessary moisture to the air, improving comfort and health. Additionally, using air coolers during mild weather can reduce the need for more energy-intensive heating and cooling solutions.
Myth 9: Air Coolers Are Difficult to Maintain
Some users believe that air coolers are difficult to maintain. In reality, air coolers are relatively easy to care for. Regular maintenance involves cleaning the cooling pads, water tank, and fan blades to ensure optimal performance. Many modern air coolers come with features such as removable cooling pads and easy-access water tanks that make cleaning and maintenance straightforward. By following the manufacturer’s guidelines, you can keep your air cooler in excellent working condition with minimal effort.
Myth 10: Air Coolers Are Not Durable
There is a misconception that air coolers are not durable and need frequent replacement. However, high-quality air coolers, such as those from Ram Coolers, are built to last. They are constructed with robust materials and designed to withstand regular use. Proper maintenance and care can extend the lifespan of an air cooler, making it a reliable and long-term cooling solution.
Choosing the Best Air Cooler: A Buying Guide
When choosing an air cooler, it’s essential to consider your specific cooling needs and preferences. Here are some factors to keep in mind:
Size and Capacity: Select an air cooler that matches the size of the space you need to cool. For larger areas, consider industrial or heavy-duty models.
Water Tank Capacity: A larger water tank will reduce the frequency of refills, making the cooler more convenient to use.
Cooling Pads: Look for air coolers with high-quality cooling pads that offer efficient evaporation and cooling.
Additional Features: Modern air coolers come with various features such as remote control, timer, water level indicator, and humidity control. Choose a model that offers the features you need.
Energy Efficiency: Check the energy efficiency rating to ensure the cooler is cost-effective to operate.
Off-Season Air Cooler Deals and Storage Tips
Taking advantage of off-season deals can help you save money on your air cooler purchase. Additionally, proper storage during the off-season is crucial for maintaining your cooler’s performance. Here are some storage tips:
Clean Thoroughly: Before storing, clean the cooling pads, water tank, and fan blades to prevent mold and mildew growth.
Dry Completely: Ensure all parts are completely dry to avoid rust and damage.
Cover and Store in a Dry Place: Use a cover to protect your air cooler from dust and store it in a dry, cool place.

This is not how Steve wanted to spend his afternoon.
Actually, he’s found himself doing a lot of things he hasn't wanted to since Starcourt burned down but, honestly, this is probably right up there.
God it’s disgusting.
But he had to try. All the kids had looked at him with their stupid hang dog faces, so he said he’d try. Which is why he’s at lovers lake, freezing his ass off in the water and nipple deep into the shrubbery, ripping slimy crappy weeds and grass out of the muddy lake bed.
At least Robin got in with him. She’s shivering in her bathing suit, but she’s gamely holding onto the cooler as it floats in the water, so at least there’s that.
The bin full Upside Down vines next to the tank hadn't made much sense at the time, but it became apparent pretty fucking fast when the fish creature in Steve’s pool hadn’t eaten for forty eight hours, and Steve was now, finally, sober enough and not concussed enough to put two and two together.
Hopefully this works though; all the kids have, obviously, become immediately like, fucking pack bonded with the thing. Man. Fish Man.
El and Max keep insisting he’s a mermaid – Merman? Merdude? - like he’s something out of a fairy tail and is all magical and shit.
Steve takes a breath and ducks down again, having felt something hairy and frond like with his exploring toes.
“You think this is enough? Like as a fair test?” Robin rocks the half full cooler forward and Steve peeks in.
And alright, Steve just doesn’t want to fucking be here at all, so he says, “yep, looks good,” as they share a lightly guilty look.
It might not work at all, of course, so their wanting to give up is legitimate. They can always come back when it’s warmer if the fish man does eat this shit.
He certainly isn’t interested in the raw fish the kids have been trying to feed him – Steve’s going to be eating fish for a fucking month with what’s in his freezer now, and don’t those reprobates realize the price of fucking prawns??
The fish man wasn’t interested in meat either, not raw, not cooked – even though Dustin insisted that because of his ‘forward facing eyes’, ‘claws,’ and ‘slightly pointed teeth,’ he must be a predator Steve! The vines must have just been for, in his tank, or whatever, Steve!
Whatever.
Steve’s here to prove them wrong, and Robin’s backing him up.
The kids have gone home when they get back, which is a fucking relief. Even with the heaters in the car on full, Steve still feels cold in his bones. His skin warm and tingly, but the shivers still locked inside; him and Robin head for separate bathrooms without even really talking about it, fishboy has survived this long, he can do another twenty minutes.
Steve finds the biggest sting of kelpy weedy seaweedy stuff from the lake, and drags the tip of it in the pool. It’s dark out, the light from in the house reflecting on the surface of the pool, making it impossible to see where the creature might be hiding; until he disturbs the surface, a few seconds later.
Steve splashes the end in the water, “here fishy fishy fishy.”
“Steve,” Robin elbows him.
“What, it’s not like he has a name,” Steve doesn’t look at her though, he’s watching that strange pair of eyes come closer. They reflect the light strangely, like a wild animal in the headlights. His dark hair is plastered to the top of his head, being wet, and everything else is submerged.
Steve knows he can breathe fine for at least an hour out of the water though; that’s how long the rescue took. And then the bathtub; he was fine in there for a day while they drained the pool of chlorinated water and refilled it with fresh. And it was easy enough to get him in there; if he was human, Steve would say that fish dude was starving to death. Concave stomach, all his ribs clearly visible, pale flesh pulled too tight over the knobs of his spine. Steve had lifted him easily, the sad curl of his dull black tail hardly adding any weight to him. He felt frail, breakable; like a bird.
If there’s any lingering chemical in there, it doesn’t seemed to have hurt fishguy, but then a creature from the upside down must be tolerant to plenty, Steve thinks, imagining the constant fall of ashy dust from the dark sky.
The creature cautiously approaches, and when he’s near enough, there’s a gentle tug on the weed, like the most cautious of bites on a line. Steve lets go, and both fish guy and weed disappear under the water.
“Do you think it worked?” Robin whispers, like they’re viewing a skittish wild animal. Which, they kind of are.
“Don’t know,” Steve whispers back, unable to stop himself. There’s just something about someone whispering to you that’s irresistible; it’s like an unavoidable instinct to follow suit.
“How will we know if it’s worked?”
“Dunno. Try another? See if he takes it?” Steve’s just about to break open the cooler again when the head pops up. All of it, this time.
He has dark hair. So dark it looks black; thick and ropey, it kind of reminds Steve of the vines of the upside down. His face is...pretty much human; just very pale. When he’s got his mouth shut, hiding the slight point of those teeth, nothing would give him away.
He lifts a hand out of the water, offering something to Steve who, gingerly but reflexively, takes it.
It’s the stalk of the weed. The leaves are gone, and the fleshy green of the outside has been carefully stripped off; use for those pointy teeth. Steve guesses all the plant material of the upside down is actually probably quite sturdy and quite hard to eat. It probably also has the nutritional value of wet cardboard.
Steve offers another weed, and the fish dude doesn’t leave this time. Steve watches as he eats; quick, practiced movements, trimming leaves with his claws, rolling them, eating them, then just as Steve suspected, using his sharp teeth to strip the outer stalk of all it’s fleshy wet goodness.
Steve doesn’t shudder at the thought of the mud at the bottom of Lovers Lake.
“Steve one, Henderson zero,” Robin says quietly, the fish man tipping his head to the side, as if he’s listening. Steve’s seen it a lot, the amount that the kids chatter at him, but the fish guy tends to stay at the other end of the pool to them. Watching. Nervous, and frightened, if Steve had to put a label on it.
But then, wouldn’t anyone be? Stolen from your world by unrecognizable creatures in hazmat suits. Shoved in a tank. Probably experimented on.
The whole thing sounds shitty.
Steve offers another weed, and the fish guy repeats the process, floating closer still, “Robin, humor me, go and see what’s in the crisper drawer.”
She follows his logic immediately, “on it.”
Steve watches the creature, the fish man, and the fish man watches Robin warily, moving away from the edge again a little, but coming back when Steve offers another frond.
He takes it, strips it, hands it back.
“We need a name for you man, I can’t just keep calling you ‘fish dude’ and ‘creature’ in my head.”
Steve looks over at the house, figuring he has another minute before Robin comes back, he taps the middle of his chest, fishguys strangely gimlet eyes tracking to movement from his too thin face, “Steve.”
Nothing. He tries again, pointing to himself and tapping, “Steve,” and then pointing to the creature, trying to get him to understand.
Fish guy swims a little closer, raising a hand out of the water. Steve sees the stubby but pointy black claws, like little ovals on the end of his fingers. His webbed fingers, Steve sees next, webbing stretched between them up to the first knuckle. He hesitates for a moment, but Steve doesn’t move, wanting to see where this is going.
Fish guy points cautiously at the center of Steve’s chest, close but not touching, lifting far enough out of the water to reveal protruding collar bones. He opens his mouth, and Steve watches with baited breath, fish guy frowning like he’s concentrating, such a human emotion on his face.
Footsteps, then, and he drops back into the water, backing away into the middle of the pool, sinking down so only his eyes are visible. Steve remembers to breathe; he’s not imagining it, something was about to happen. But he can try again tomorrow, once Robin has gone.
“I got some lettuce and some frozen peas,” she whisper hisses at him as she sits again, handing them over.
“Gimme the lettuce,” that seems like the next nearest thing to Steve.

Eddie filming a tiktok before one of the soccer meets (maybe like day long blitz tournament) in a cheerleader outfit. Phone set up before he came downstairs, catching Steve scrolling on his phone, filling his water, checking the time and reminding Eddie they had to leave. And Eddie’s like, pretending it’s normal while Steve is just blinking at him.
He threatened to do it, and they all assumed he had forgotten but no, Eddie’s middle names are ‘committed to the bit’ (family name)
I think it’s infinitely funnier if Steve doesn’t notice that he’s wearing a cheerleading uniform for like, a while.
Eddie sets the camera up in the kitchen since Steve spends the majority of his time before a game in there pacing, and then he just stands there in the middle of the room. And waits. And Steve does not notice. It’s like:
Eddie: *standing in the middle of the kitchen in a red and gold cheerleading uniform*
Steve: *walks pass to double check the schedule on the fridge to make sure he has the time right*
Steve: *walks pass while putting on his jersey*
Steve: *walks pass to fill their cooler with drinks and sandwiches*
Steve: *walks pass to refill his water bottle*
Steve: *walks pass to triple check the schedule*
Steve: *walks pass looking at his phone*
Steve: *walks pass while texting Robin*
Steve: *walks pass to look at the schedule again*
Steve: *walks pass while reminding Eddie that they need to leave in fifteen minutes*
Steve: *stops right next to Eddie to read an article about Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner*
Eddie: Babe, do these shoes match my outfit?
Steve, looking away from his phone and directly at Eddie’s shoes: If you’re going to have your legs out then you need to put sunscreen on them because you… *finally notices*
Steve:
Steve:
Steve:
Eddie: 2,4,6,8 who do you appreciate?
Steve: …This outfit

Chapter 25 - Release the Ice Bath Thirst Traps
Ok guys! here we go!
TAG LIST IS CLOSED (sorry for those who have asked)
For the very end of the chapter, there's something I made up for Singapore (this fact is made up just for the story)
Like always comments, questions, concerns, inbox messages, reblogs, and likes are appreciated! Love you all and enjoy :D
The moment you stepped out of the cool, airconditioned car, your team shirt suddenly clung to you. Beads of sweat dripped from your forehead as you made your way through the paddock. Max had warned you that Singapore and Qatar would be impossibly hot: you just didn’t think it’d be this bad.
All you wanted to do now was go back to the hotel where it was ice cold. You wiped your brow with your forearm as you got closer to the garage. Giant fans welcomed you with air. It wasn’t freezing cold, but it would do. You were already on your third water today, smartly forgoing the Red Bull that was bound to make you dehydrated.
You stood next to Max as the team had a quick debrief. The heat was definitely getting to you, as you really couldn’t remember a word that anyone said. You blink your eyes as they were burning with sweat. Your older teammate could only offer you a remorseful smile.
Max could see that the heat wasn’t going too well with you. You had told him beforehand that some females, including you, just couldn’t regulate their temperatures as well as males could. Women often gave off more body heat than men did as well. This caused the Dutchman to send out a group text, warning the other drivers to look out for you.
You groaned as you tried to put on your fireproofs and race suit. The more you moved around, the more you seemed to sweat. You kept your suit tied around your waist. You definitely wouldn’t be putting it on until you had to be in the car.
Max was already zipped up by the time you returned.
“Here.” He handed you another ice cold water bottle.
“Thank you Max,” you croaked out, making the Dutchman look a little weary at you. You just smiled back.
“Once we qualify, we can go to the ice baths.”
Max would have thought that you would hate the idea since you always showered with the water at a boiling temperature. Yet, he could see that you were slightly “warming up” to the idea of a bath full of ice (pun intended).
From the corner, Mitch watched as you poured the remainder of your water on your head. She had requested a few ice packs to be ready for you when you arrived, but sadly they weren’t completely frozen. She’d make sure that you’d have them for tomorrow.
Surprisingly, your laps were great with you qualifying in P3, behind Charles once again. Halfway through, you had opened your visor, trying to get some air through your sweaty helmet. Your water pouch had to be refilled multiple times between sessions. Yet, your trainer advised you to try not to drink so much during the race, as they wouldn’t be able to refill.
Mitch had come over to your car as soon as you were back in. You gave her a big smile as you started to get out of the car.
“How are you doing kid?”
You took a moment to look at her outfit. Where a pantsuit should have been, there was a Red Bull Tank top and some very loose pants. You were jealous that she got to wear those while you were stuck with skin tight clothes.
You gasped a bit for some cooler air once your helmet was off.
“I’m good. Max said something about an ice bath?”
Your eyes were faintly glimmering with hope for something to cool you down. Mitch smiled at you.
“Yep. I put a change of clothes on your bed, but I think you need some help?”
You nodded at her question before heading to your room. You didn’t want to waste any time getting out of your suit.
The zipper came off smoothly. Mitch definitely saw that you had sweated through your fireproofs and felt terrible. Surely, there was something that the team could do.
You giggled. “I’ve probably already lost a few pounds.”
Mitch rolled her eyes at the terrible joke. If anything, there was truth in that statement. She had seen the numbers after you got weighed and you had lost a lot.
“Well, there will be lots of food for you to fill up on.”
“I hope we’re not going to go over the catering budget again.”
Mitch let out a snort as she helped you out of the sticky fire proofs. She pulled out a bag and handed it to you. You grinned at the sight of the limited clothes in the bag.
“I didn’t think that you’d want to go out in full bikini, so there’s a sports bra and some spandex shorts. I’ll wait for you by your door and will walk you to the back.”
Once Mitch left, you quickly peeled the rest of your clothes off. The sports bra and spandex were all black, and covered everything that needed to be. You said a quick thank you to her in your mind as you got dressed. Your skin was definitely cooler with no clothes to stick to, but you were still sweating.
You swung the door open.
“Ready to go?” you asked, giving her the bag back with your other clothes. They would definitely need to be washed by tomorrow.
You followed the woman to the back, going through multiple doors. Once she opened the door to the little outside area, your eyes landed on Max, who was already soaking. His eyes were closed as he leaned his head back on the tub.
Yours was a bit more like a giant trough, filled to the brim with ice.
Mitch spoke as you got closer. “We thought that you’d need more ice, hence why yours is bigger. It’s also more insulated with the metal than the plastic. Do not stay in more than 15 minutes. We don’t need your temperature dropping too much.”
You tossed your foot over and gingerly place a toe in, just to get a feel for it. The temperature was perfect and you found yourself sinking into the ice.
“You think it’s ok if I dunk my head?” you asked Max.
He didn’t even bother to open his eyes.
“Go for it kid.”
You held your breath as you sunk below the ice layer. Your brain went a bit fuzzy as the freezing water went over your scalp. You let your eyes open under the water, just to feel the cold and relieve the stinging.
Once you came up gasping for air, Max finally looked over.
“Had fun?” He laughed a bit.
You lovingly flipped him off. Your hands came and brushed your hair back. You looked over at Max’s plastic pool, and saw ducks in his. You pouted once you realized that you didn’t have any.
“What’s wrong kid?” the Dutchman asked at the sight of your pout.
You murmured, “I didn’t get any ducks.”
Max rolled his eyes before gently throwing one of his ducks into your pool. Your eyes immediately lit up as you began to play with it. Max just watched as you found so much joy in something so little. You felt his gaze and you guessed that you needed to say something.
“I never had a rubber duck growing up. It’s so cute.”
You held the little yellow thing in your hands, right in front of your face. Max had a sad smile as he watched.
“You have plans for after the race?”
You sighed as you let the duck rest on the water, not breaking the surface tension.
“Logan, Oscar, and Lando wanted to go see the city and I said I’d join them. Something about needing a good drive around Singapore.”
Max snorted. Of course the group of three would want to invite you. The door opened, which had the two of you whip your heads to it.
“Oh, hey David,” you greeted the photographer. You sank back into the ice, still enjoying the cold. Max groaned when he realized what David was there for.
You smirked as you looked over at your teammate. “Ready to do some thirst traps Max?”
The Dutchman rolled his eyes. “Let’s leave that for Ferrari and Lando.”
You giggled at the statement. “Yeah, I would rather not show much on screen. Taken woman and all.”
That time, Max laughed.
David looked apologetic. “Just need to get some pictures. Trust me, this isn’t my favorite.”
He took some pictures while you and Max tried to look as non-sexy as possibly. You definitely tried to sneak some goofy facial expressions in. You kept your whole body submerged and thankfully the ice kept anyone from seeing much below your neck. David quickly thanked the two of you for your time before leaving.
“Instagram is going to have a field with those.”

You snorted at the Dutchman’s bluntness.
The timer on the wall signaled that it was time to get out. You let out a giant groan as you stood and climbed over.
Mitch came in with two big towels. One for you and one for Max. Your skin was finally covered with goosebumps instead of sweat. You quickly had an idea as you walked back to put normal clothes on.
You think I could dunk my head in before I get in the car? I think my wet hair will keep my head cooler if I do. It’s something about heat escaping through your scalp when you overheat. If it’s covered by my balaclava and my helmet, it can’t escape.”
Mitch finished your thought process.
“So if you wet your hair, your scalp can be cooler longer.”
You nodded before heading into your room.
“Ah, Max wanted me to hand this to you.”
It was a normal Red Bull polo, which made your brows pinch in confusion. But, you shrugged and took it anyways.
However, once you started changing you realized that the shirt was almost three sizes too big. Yet, you grinned as you put it on. Since it was oversized, it wasn’t sticking to your skin as you started to sweat a little.
The crew laughed a bit at the sight of the giant shirt almost swallowing you. But, you didn’t care about that. You were significantly cooler and you could follow the last debrief of the day.
Sunday night came and went super-fast, and you were thankful this time around. You were definitely more cool that you had been for qualifying. Mitch had sent the ice vest to you early, so you didn’t start off too warm. With your hair being dunked in ice water, your head was cooler during the race. The little bit of breeze that you got helped as well.
That bit really helped you stay focused as you gained another podium. Surprisingly, this was Max’s first time winning in Singapore. Adrian really made sure that the car could keep up with the street race and not end it like 2023. Charles came in a very close second.
Charles and Max poured their champagne bottles onto your overheating body. Halfway through you needed to sit down. Your body was slowly becoming even more dehydrated and hot as the minutes passed by. You were kind of held by Max as the three of you left the podium.
The Dutchman had a worried grip on your bicep as he held you upright. He needed to get you some water, quickly. You thankfully weren’t on the verge of passing out, but he knew you were thirsty. He heard your radio toward the end where you were just begging for a drink. Max couldn’t imagine being without water, but he normally didn’t drink as much while racing.
He gently set you on a seat in the garage, before turning away to get some things. Your eyes were closed as you sat right under a fan. Max soon returned with a cooling towel and three bottles of water.
The cold of the towel made your eyes open as he put it on your neck. Your race suit was tied around your waist and your fireproof shift had been swapped for a thin, random oversized shirt. Max gently cooed as you leaned into the cold water bottle on your face.
“There you go,” he whispered as you finally were able to take big gulps of water. He unscrewed one of the other bottles before he lightly tipped it over your head. Streams of water ran down your face as you finished off the water bottle.
The team was glancing at the two of you. In the back of their minds, they were worried about how you’d react to Qatar, which was way worse. However, they held on to some hope that it would be cooler than last year due to it being moved later on the race calendar.
Your water bottle was on in moments. You flashed a smile at your worried teammate.
“Thanks,” you gasped, trying to catch your breath after guzzling.
Mitch came from the back with another woman who was holding a device. Mitch kneeled next to Max and put her hand on your knee.
“Hey kid, we just want to make sure that you’re okay. Brianna here is going to take your blood pressure and other vitals just to be safe.”
You only nodded and leaned your head against the wall. The medic made quick work and started to strap the device on. Max stood up and walked a bit away, just to give everyone some space. His eyes caught glimpses of orange, red, and blue and he could only guess who it was. He took one more glance at the situation before walking out of the garage.
Logan, Charles, Lando, and Oscar were waiting patiently by the opening. They all looked up once they heard Max walk out, but deflated when they realized it wasn’t the Red Bull driver they were looking for.
“Is she doing okay?” Charles asked first, concerning the other three boys.
Lando put his arms out, stopping any conversation.
“What does he mean by ‘is she doing ok?’ Where’s Y/n?” the Brits voice going more high pitched the more he started to panic.
Max sighed. “She’s just having a hard time with the heat. She got super dehydrated this weekend and really couldn’t get over it.”
He pointed a thumb over his shoulder.
“They’re just checking vitals I think, to make sure everything is ok.”
Logan sighed loudly in concern. He definitely knew what it was like, getting memories from Qatar 2023.
The American asked, “Is she going to race in Qatar?”
Max blinked slowly before answering. “She wants to. The team is really hoping that it’s going to be significantly cooler than last year. And they know to get her started on hydration much earlier. I talked to her physio and she thinks that Y/n’s diet also wasn’t right.”
Oscar raised his eyebrows. “Diet?”
Max nodded. “Yeah. She was apparently eating foods that might dehydrate the body, like lots of salt. Her physio said that she’ll start her on more fruits and water heavy foods way in advance. And drinks as well, more electrolytes.”
Lando nodded in agreement. “I remember when I had to do that. They took away my chips for like….months.”
They had been so into talking that they didn’t notice that you had walked out, now changed into shorter shorts and a bigger top (one that Charles strangely recognized as one of his brother’s shirts).
“Are we ready to go?” you asked, getting closer. “Lando is driving because I am done for today.”
The boys looked a bit guilty at your tired face.
Oscar spoke up first. “We don’t have to go driving if you don’t want to. We know you’re probably tired.”
You waved your hands and made a sound. “Nope, I’m good. Nothing will ever beat the one time I spent an entire summer on a farm in the middle of Texas.”
You pretended to shiver at the thought, making the group laugh.
Charles suddenly remembered why he was there in the first place (well, second because he was worried about you after the podium). He handed you a small bag. Opening it up, you saw a bright colored water bottle. You raised your eyebrow in question.
The Monegasque smirked. “From you know how.”
Your face practically melted at the loving gesture as you looked at it. Lando, Oscar, and Logan suddenly got the memo.
Logan wrapped an arm around you first. “Aww such a sweet little boyfriend.”
Oscar looked at Lando.
“Where’s my water bottle?” he mocked whined, batting his eyelashes at the Brit. Your rolled your eyes.
Lando put his arms around the Aussie. “Don’t worry love, it’s in the car.”
The Brit puckered his lips before pretending to lean in. You just watched with an annoyed grin on your face. You looked at Max and Charles and winked, the Dutchman and Monegasque getting what you were about to do. You shrugged Logan’s arm off before taking a step toward your teammate.
But, you purposefully made your knees buckle and fell into Max and Charles’s waiting arms. Lando and Oscar shut up quickly, before yelling that you needed help. Except that they heard your giggles as Max put you back on your feet.
“I was just kidding.”
The trio huffed.
Logan murmured, “That was not funny.”
Charles snorted. “Oh but it was. Should have seen your faces.”
Your giggled died out before you asked, “Are we ready to go? I think I’ll melt if I stand out here for any longer.”
Lando flicked your forehead. “We were just waiting on you.”
The four of you said your goodbyes to Max and Charles before heading to the parking lot. Somehow, Logan got his hands on a Jeep to take the four of you somewhere. And, he was even able to get the top off. And because he claimed it was an all American brand, Logan begged Lando to let him drive it. Lando reluctantly handed over the keys.
You claimed earlier that you needed shotgun, because “men can’t be passenger princesses.” Oscar and Lando tried to disagree.
The breeze from outside in addition to the cool air-conditioning from the car was perfect. You let everyone have their turn with the aux, praying that they wouldn’t pick anything too embarrassing.
Oscar ripped the phone out of your hands when Logan tried to request Free Bird again.
The Aussie sighed as the American whined.
“We are not having another shirt ripped or a speeding ticket.”
You laughed as Logan tried to hit Oscar in the back. At an empty road, Lando grabbed his camera.
“Bug, put your head out the window real fast.”
You did as suggested and smiled toward the camera that Lando was holding.
Immediately you had a sense of déjà vu. Except this time, it was actual friends in the car and not just your manager. You thought back to how far you’ve come since the night before going to Milton.
Lando laughed as he looked at the camera.
He spoke, “This reminds me about the time that me and my friends were driving around and then this car pulled up next to ours. They were blasting What Makes You Beautiful and there was this girl in the front seat.”
Your cheeks were becoming warm as Lando kept telling the story: that was definitely about you. Lando kept blabbing about the night.
“And then the next morning, I got out of my hotel elevator and I think the same girl literally bulldozed me over. Didn’t say sorry or anything. I just thought it was funny, she seemed like she was in a rush.”
Logan was laughing at the story, but got concerned at your flushed appearance and sudden quietness.
“You alright champ? Do we need to get you some more water?”
At the sound of the question, Lando and Oscar were leaning up, trying to look to see if you were going to actually pass out. Lando was already on his phone, trying to bring up Max’s contact to call just in case.
However, you started laughing, making the trio at ease. You tried to cover your giggles with your mouth. You had this bright look in your eyes.
“That was actually me Lando. Sorry about that.”
Lando’s jaw dropped at the reveal.
You gave a half shrug. “Arthur was waiting for me in my hotel room and I was excited to see him.”
Logan’s and Oscar’s shoulders were shaking as they kept laughing at Lando’s facial expressions. The Brit huffed and crossed his arms, mouth formed into a pout.
“You owe me a race win now.”
“Excuse you?”
“You heard me.”
“Uh, guys?” Logan asked, but you and Lando ignored him.
“Get your own race win. You’ve done it before.”
“Cause Max crashed out.”
“That’s not true.”
“Guys?” Oscar’s voice also sounded, worry in his tone.
“Lando, it’s really not that hard. You just go around him.”
“It’s a tractor versus a rocket ship. One cannot simply just go around.”
“GUYS!”
“What?” you and Lando yelled at the same time. Once the car was silent, you finally noticed that it had stopped moving.
“Logan why aren’t you driving?”
You looked at the American, who was slightly shaking while looking in the rearview mirror. Your eyes glanced at it, blue and red lights reflecting through the glass. You looked behind you and saw the source.
“Ah shit.”

The days were shifting between the long summer heat and a cooler breeze as the leaves started to change from their usual green and full thick coverings to reds, yellows, and browns before leaving their life-sustaining tree and falling to the ground. There was something subtle about the sound of leaves crunching under ones footstep that somehow felt calming. The ground around your home was littered with the fine needles of the Douglas Fir trees that had a very distinct pine smell to them. It was a welcoming smell for you, having lived the majority of your life in rural Montana, the fresh smell of pine felt like home.
The colorful coat of the Maine Coon cat you owned stood out against the green throw blanket placed on the couch, the place he dubbed his spot. His name was Felix and he had been your fury best friend of nearly six years now. He showed up one day on your doorstep when it was raining with his mother. Not knowing much about cats, but knowing they were hungry, you couldn't help but open the last can of tuna you had in your pantry, draining it of its liquid before setting it out for the mother and son cats to eat. His mother trusted you enough to leave her son with you before leaving, never to be seen again. You often wondered what happened to the little minx of a feline, though you were happy to assure her you could take care of her baby.
"Okay, Felix. I'm going into town. Don't miss me too bad while I'm gone, okay?" You chuckle a little watching him as he stretches out, adjusting your jacket in the process. With keys in hand, wallet in your warm coat, and a fully charged phone, you left your home. Your next-door neighbor was only five miles away, as was his other neighbor. The only thing you had to worry about here were bears, mountain lions, and wolves showing up unannounced during meal times. Thankfully the only time you spotted any of the three was during their migration journeys at quite the distance from your porch to the open land headed out toward the lake where they could get their fill of fresh fish and other small creatures that dwelled there.
You kept your distance, you respected their space, and in turn, they stayed away from you. Just how it should have been.
Hoping into your truck, an old one of your father's, you kick it into gear and leave your driveway. The roads were bumpy as the broken rock and dirt shifted under the weight of the truck, bouncing you a little as you made the drive into town. There were a few things you needed to make it through the week: gasoline, and a refill of your water containers. One was used for cooking and drinking, one was used for bathing, and the third was the backup. Being out in these parts, you had to prepare for the unthinkable. Trees block major routes to give supplies, unpredictable weather, and supply shortages.
Another thing you would have liked to get was a fresh cut of meat for dinner. Depending on what was at the store would determine the dinner in store for you. Grilled fish? sounded nice. A steak could have been as equally nice to eat.
Though, there was another reason for your outing today. Since Mr. Kirkwood had sold his farm, you had been out of a job and had been running low on funds. You had to find a job today, any job. Anything that would provide you cash for hard work to continue to provide for yourself and Felix. Stocking shelves at the only grocery store in town? Perfect! Cutting down trees for the logging company? You're the girl for the job, nevermind you have never cut a vertical tree before, only when they were already grounded.
You just needed any job, one that you can continue to live your life.
--
Parking the truck, you walked to the bed, picking up the water containers, two in one hand and the third in the other. Thankfully there had been a man coming out of the store, seeing your hands full he held it open for you. You thanked him, recognizing him as one of your father's old co-workers. You nodded to each other, letting him go back to his day as you entered the door.
"There she is, I was wondering when you would be coming back. I hadn't seen you in a few days," came the beckoning voice of the store's owner, Mr. Morgan. He was almost like an uncle to all of the younger people in town, being about thirty-five and younger. You were toward the older end of his infinite nieces and nephews, though he would swear you were his favorite.
"I was able to get an extra day or two in on my stock. I call that quite the accomplishment."
"Did you make it last longer, or did you go without longer than usual?" He questioned you, peering over his glass at you as you set the water containers down. He knew what your current situation was, but at the end of the day, he still had a business to run. "I can't do anything for you today until you pay your tab." He was serious, but he had a little glint in his eye as if letting a loved one down.
You looked at him, your once welcoming face now placid. "Mr. Morgan, please. You know I'm good for the money." you fished around in your jacket, pulling out the last thirty-seven dollars and change you had. You knew it wouldn't cover your tab plus what you needed, but you also knew he had a business to run. "I just need a little more time. And some supplies. Please."
It was a plea, a simple one. Though you knew he was the holder behind how the rest of your week was going to go. "I'll stock shelves for you to pay the rest of my tab. I'll scrub the floors with a toothbrush. I'm willing to work."
He took his glasses off, looking at the cash in front of him. He didn't want to see anybody struggling, but he couldn't ignore his debts. He shuffled the money around, taking thirty dollars for himself and handing you the seven dollars and change back. "I can't afford to add anybody else to my payroll, or else I would. You can have one water refill, a full tank of gas, and some cat food. Nothing more."
You stared at him, lips parted as if to protest the money exchange, but the sound of the bells chiming against the door flooded those thoughts. You reached for the cash, scooping the change into your hand. All you could muster was a simple "Thank you." Moving the water containers to the side, you placed two of the containers into the designated area, then took one to the refill station, and filled the water container.
You had to figure something out and fast.
--
A newly filled water container was placed in the truck bed, a full tank of gas in your truck, and a sack of wet and dry cat food sat on the passenger floorboard. Looking around the small main street of the town where ninety percent of the town's businesses resided, you decided to leave your truck where it was. You were on the hunt for a job, and you were damn determined to find employment by the end of the day.
You used your side view mirror to make sure your hair looked fine, adjusting the collar of your jacket and shirt, you straightened up peering back at the main street. The best way to start job hunting was to start at the end of the street and work your way back down, entering every business you spotted. The good thing about small towns was all you needed was to name-drop a couple of people, resumes didn't hold up well.
The bad thing about small towns was that everybody needed work. Store owner after store owner denied your requests. The pawn shop wasn't looking for new employees, the liquor store had too many employees as is, and the antiquities store only hired their family members. The options were dwindling down, and soon you were nervous you were going to have to find a creative way to make money or even worse, entertain the thought of being a lot lizard.
The only two businesses left were the diner on the right side of the street and the motel at the end of the road. Either of them could have positions open, yet they could also deny you a job opening. You had to hope they had an opening somewhere, knowing you were not creative enough to make and sell items for cash. You didn't own many items to sell, beyond the couch, a cot you used to sleep on, and the few little trinkets you received when her father died. The most expensive item you owned was more than likely the truck, and selling it would mean nearly desertion at your home.
Without another thought, you crossed the street as a logging truck passed in front of you. You made some eye contact with the driver, making sure you waited until he drove in front of you before crossing the street.
As you pushed open the doors of the diner, a woman ten years your senior greeted you. "Have a seat wherever you want, sweetheart."
You crossed the room, taking a seat in front of her as she cleaned the counter space. "I know you are busy, and I don't want to take up too much of your time. I'm looking for a job. Mr. Morgan told me you might have something open here?"
The woman looked up from her work, eyeing you down after you mentioned Mr. Morgan. Her ginger curly hair cascaded down her shoulders as she shifted her weight. "Mr. Morgan, huh?" It was hard to tell by her expression, but she seemed to be thinking about something.
The door opened again, and a young blonde woman entered appearing slightly disheveled as if she had just woken up. "I'm here, Rebecca."
The woman in front of you, Rebecca as you read the name tag, turned her body toward the younger woman, then looked to the clock. She placed one hand on her hip. "Only two hours late." She looked between you and the woman, a mischievous look in her eyes. "I told you, show up on time or don't show up at all."
The blonde woman huffed a little, crossing her arms. "It's not like anybody else wants this job."
Rebecca smirked, walking around the counter toward the woman. "Actually she does." She was quick to snatch the apron from the blonde woman. "Clean your uniform and have it dropped by the end of the week, then you will get your check." She then tossed the apron to you, catching it effortlessly.
The blonde huffed, storming out of the diner and throwing a couple of curses in the air. "Your shift starts now. Take a menu, and study it between customers. Orders go to Big Ben. Don't ask us why we call him that and don't make any eye contact. Burgers are made to order, the soup of the day is Italian wedding, and you can give me your jacket."
Her orders came quickly as you stood up, removing your jacket and tying the apron around your waist. There had been a little notebook in the apron and a pen, thankfully saving your ass as you wrote down the notes she gave you. The doorbell rang again, the older woman looked at you with a questionable look. That was your cue, time to work. "Take a seat wherever you want." You nodded, taking a menu in your hands and walking up to your first-ever customer.
--
As his boots made contact with the ground below him, the man took a moment to adjust his shoulders, rolling them a couple of times as he stretched. He could have sworn the truck cabs were getting smaller and smaller, almost feeling his head touch the rooftop. At least he could rest comfortably during his lunch break. He had contemplated having a liquid diet for lunch paired with a cigar, but the smell of greasy burgers filled his nostrils. Tucking the keys of the truck in his vest pocket, Logan walked toward to diner.
He passed by an unruly blonde woman, muttering under her breath about being fired barely filling his ears. He persisted in, entering the diner. Not looking up, he heard the greeting offered to him, hearing two different footsteps filling the diner. One was the small heels clicking against the tile floors. The other was boots muffled against the tile. A small pair of hands moved to set a menu down in front of him, along with what looked like one single-ply napkin and a fork. "What can I get started for you?"
Logan still hadn't looked up yet, looking at the laminated two-sided menu in front of him. "Coffee." He blurted, though wishing he could have an iced beer with his food. The woman left his table, rounding the counter and finding the coffee pot and cups. A minute may have passed by as he scanned the menu. He wasn't that much of a picky eater, as long as it used to have a heartbeat, he was fine.
The mug was set down in front of him, steam rolling off the black liquid. "I'll have the cheeseburger and fries." He picked up the menu, handing it back to the waitress. That was when he finally turned to look at her, remembering her as the woman who crossed the street behind him. She didn't seem to be dressed for work, not like the other woman who was behind the counter now fiddling with some dishes.
"You got it." She left the table, and walked over to the window, setting a ticket in the designated space that the other woman told her about. His hand wrapped around the mug in front of him, looking outside as he silently observed the town. He was in this stretch of land only long enough to get him enough cash to figure out his next move. He didn't like to stay in the same place too long, maybe a year or two at most. He didn't mind the small circles running in this part of the state, but he knew that if he wanted to go somewhere else he would have to figure it out soon before the snow moved in.
What felt like ten minutes had passed before the woman came back, setting his plate in front of him. "Can I get you anything else?"
He shook his head, brushing her off. As she left, she could smell a strong scent of pine around her, as if she herself was a pine tree. It wasn't a disheartening smell, something he actually liked.
Another set of diners came in, sitting a few booths behind Logan. As he ate his food all he could hear was her voice, despite there being a total of seven beings in the diner he could hear. Somehow her voice was the loudest in his mind. Not the heartbeats of the seven people, not his heartbeat, not her heartbeat. Her voice.
As he finished the food in front of him, she walked over to him, leaving his ticket and grabbing the empty plate. "Do you want a cup for the road?"
He reached into his vest pocket, pulling out a billfold. "Yeah, sounds good."
She returned with his to-go coffee, handing it over to him as he left cash on the table, adjusting his shirt collar. "Here, let me get your change."
"Keep it." He walked out of the diner, making a bee-line for his truck, fighting everything in him to talk to her again. Little did he know, that wasn't going to be their only interaction for the day.
--
The daylight began to dissipate, street lights were turning on and the neon signs from the only bar in town began to glow. Rebecca presented to you with a powder blue uniform dress. The diner and the employees looked as if they hadn't left the fifties, just as the regular customers liked to relive. "You did good, peanut. The job is yours. Your next shift is tomorrow, Nine to five, be here no less than ten minutes before clocking in tomorrow. I'll have some shoes for you. Can't have my girls in boots for service."
You took the uniform and hanger, nodding. "Yes ma'am."
Rebecca giggled a little. "Oh darlin', I'm no ma'am. You can call me Becky."
Parting ways with your new manager, you left the diner, uniform in hand and some tips in your apron. You couldn't help but think about the first customer you had that day, a man appearing around your age, how quick your interactions were, but how he almost seemed disinterested in interacting with you. Was it possible he was a regular of the blonde woman? He paid his bill, he tipped you, and you went on about your day. That was all you could ask for.
Returning to your truck still parked in front of the grocery store, you set your items down in the cab. Peering to the bed of the truck, you huff as you realize your water container is missing. At least the thief had the balls to leave your empty gas container. Mr. Morgan's place was closed for the night, so you would have to swing by the store after work. "Cowards." you hum to yourself, getting in the truck and turning over the engine.
Returning home, you fed Felix with the food you acquired today. Becky made sure you had something to eat as well before you left the diner, though Big Ben had made a comment about it. This only solved three of your problems for the day. You still needed to wash up, and without the water container, you only had one choice.
The easiest thing would be to take a bucket to the lake and boil the water before using it to wash up. Not thinking clearly either, you left the house without any type of protection, knowing you were just getting water and heading back to the house. The only light you had to help you was the half-moon above you.
Unknown to you, the man from the diner had followed you home, wondering what you were up to. He wished he could understand what was happening, but your voice was all he could hear and focus on the rest of the day. His truck was parked in the woods opposite your home, and he stood in the tree line listening to the orchestra of insects and animals around the both of you. Foxes howled in the far distance, deer were settling in for the night. But there was another predator within the vicinity, one unbeknownst to you.
You kneeled down to fill the metal bucket with water, you were being watched by a wolverine and a black bear. A bear looking for its next meal, and a wolverine searching for answers, only to find more problems in his way.
The grunt of the bear finally caught your attention. It had been nearly twenty feet in front of you, standing on a rock as it discarded the fish carcass in its claws. He smelled bigger game, and his blood lust was all he could focus on.
Leaving the bucket still in the water, you slowly stood up, keeping your hands to your sides. It stayed on its rock, turning toward you. It must have been fully grown, which spelled danger for you. Black bears did not care and would defend themselves to the death, even if it was not threatened.
Seconds felt like minutes as the bear finally stood up, roaring before falling to all fours and darting toward you. There was no way you could outrun a bear, let alone rely on your home to defend you. Laying down now meant instant death for you. Climbing trees was out of the question.
Your heart pounded in your chest with every footfall, knowing the longer you thought about survival, the more your chances diminished.
The bear caught up to you, pinning you down and tossing you around. Your screams filled the space of the open field around you. Claws tore into your skin and clothes as you felt warm blood escape your body.
Snikt
The bear roared out, turning its attention away from you to something else, attacking it. The sounds of two animals tousling with each other filled the air, but after one minute, the bear grew quiet, a distinct thud was heard as its body fell to the ground.
Something rushed up to you, and before you could react, you felt human hands touching your body. "No, no, no."
You looked up to see the man from the diner hovering over you as his knees collided with the ground next to you. His face was bleeding, but as you watched him, you saw his wounds close and heal within seconds. Almost just like...
He observed you, looking at where your wounds were.
Or used to be.
You sat up, scooting away from him a little. Breathing heavily, the both of, you looked at his tattered clothes and blood stains. yet there was an absence of wounds. "What are you?" You asked hurriedly.
He stared at you, his eyes dancing the same tango where your wounds used to be. "I could ask you the same." He ran a hand over his hair before standing up. He offered you a hand, however you didn't take it. Brushing yourself off from the dirt.
"Nothing happened here, okay?"
Logan turned toward you as he watched you walk back to the lake, picking up the bucket of water.
You realized what you said sounded harsh, and that wasn't your nature. Closing your eyes briefly, you look back at the man. "I have some clothes in my house. I can at least give you something to replace those."
He watched you begin walking toward the cabin you called home. Taking a moment, he decided to follow in your footsteps, quickly matching your pace to walk with you. "I saw you get attacked by that bear. I can see the blood." His eyes scan over your back, where layers of clothes are torn. Not just your jacket, but your shirt, and an undershirt.
You swung open the door of your cabin after walking up the little set of stairs on your porch. "Not to sound like a broken record, but, I can ask you the same."
After both of you were in the cabin, you set the bucket down next to the woodfire stove, pulled some of the water into a pot, then set it on the surface of the stove to boil the water. You then opened up a door, the only closet space in your cabin. There was a box labeled Dad's clothes written in neat handwriting. You pushed it out to the side, then grabbed two jackets. "Here, pick out what you want."
He looked at you, unsure of the idea. There was more to ask now, and he wasn't so sure where to start. He watched as you moved around in the cabin, picking up a little bowl and scooping its contents into a bowl. He could smell the cat, but not see it. He looked around, wondering where it was.
You observed his behavior, wondering what he was doing. Clearing your throat, you took a stab in the dark. "His name is Felix. He doesn't like strangers. If I had to guess, he is on my bed, or under it."
He smirked a little, knowing his suspicion had been confirmed. He approached the box, opening it to look at the different shirts and pants inside.
You observed him, crossing your arms over your chest as you leaned against the wall. "Why are you out here?" You were thankful he showed up when he did, knowing you didn't have many defenses against the bear beyond how you healed.
Instead of giving a bullshit answer or response, he turned to look at you, a gray flannel in hand. "I was just passing through." He lied.
You shook your head, eyeing him as you lowered an eyebrow. "No, you didn't. Nobody passes through this place." Sighing a little, you felt a tug in your back. "Look, I've had a somewhat normal life here, have my entire life. I don't really have anything else to go to, or the drive to go anywhere else. I'll tell you what I can do, and I can answer any questions you have. Then we can part our separate ways. Sound like a deal?"
Logan stood up, tossing the flannel over his shoulder. He held his hands up to his sides, shrugging his shoulders. "I won't complain." He didn't know where this would lead him, but the thought of getting some answers meant his trip wouldn't be wasted.
Nodding, you rolled the sleeve of your torn jacket up, exposing the lower part of your arm to him. you pulled one of the logs out of the stove, holding the unburned end in your hand. The other side was on fire. You held your arm out in front of you, then pressed the fire to your skin, doing your best to stifle the groans from the injury. Pulling the log away, the third-degree burn healed almost instantly as tissue, muscles, and skin grew back together. After showing him the display of your power, you put the log back in the stove. "I was never sick as a child. injured that should have resulted in broken bones never bothered me."
Logan watched you burn yourself and then heal almost instantly. He hadn't met anyone before who had the same healing rate as he did. What were the odds of meeting another mutant out in the middle of nowhere Montana?
"Can I show you what I can do?" He asked, watching your every moment with precision. As he watched you nod, he moved his right hand to cross in front of him. Slowly, the sound of moving metal filled the air as three long knife-like appendages emerged between his knuckles. You stared in a mix of awe and confusion. He smirked, then sliced the pad of his left hand, showing you his own healing rate.
What caught him off guard was how you began to approach him, though it was a slow approach. On instinct, he retracted his claws, the spaces where they had once been healing up. "Does it hurt?" You ask him, rubbing your own knuckles where the blades would have been.
He didn't know how to feel, knowing that the two of you were just strangers passing in the night. "Every damn time." His voice was above a whisper, as if afraid the tone of his voice would break the sound barrier.
Silent moments passed between the two of you, tension filling the air. He couldn't stand it anymore as he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. "I should really get going," he spoke, stepping around you. Dazed little you finally felt you weren't the only one anymore.
You turned around to face him as he approached your door. "You know, I have a shift at the diner tomorrow. Maybe you'll happen to forget your lunch and have to stop by the diner?"
He should say no. He should be grabbing his things and heading out of town as quickly as possible. He should put this place in his rearview mirror and forget anything that happened there. But the drum of your heartbeat spoke bigger volumes than his brain did.
"We'll see." He nodded, thanking you silently with a gesture of the shirt before leaving your cabin, and walking toward his truck. He needed out of there as quickly as possible. Another moment with you could have sent him into a coma. How beautiful you smelled, how kind you were. Even though you were quick to block him earlier and run away, you still let him into your home and offered him a simple reward for saving your life.
It was almost too intoxicating to think about. And the promise of tomorrow could never come any sooner.

BIT BY BIT… 💭 anton lee socmed! au
pairing: college student! anton x campus crush! reader
genre: college! au, social media! au with written portions, slow burn, pining, strangers to friends to lovers.
series synopsis: in which the quiet girl in anton’s language class who seems to never sit with anyone catches his attention. anton makes it his mission to get closer to her bit by bit and break down her walls. the only issue? she’s the last to arrive and first to leave, never allowing anton the chance to approach her.
chapter warnings: mentions of blood and injuries, anton and sohee being idiots, sungchan being an idiot and getting karma, fully written chapter
series masterlist | 12: three rules
first rule of being team manager: make sure the boys’ water bottles are always filled before their breaks.
“they only get 5 minute breaks in between sessions so you need to make sure their bottles are filled and ready so they don’t waste any unnecessary time. there’s a water cooler at both ends of the gymnasium.”
it was yours and eunchae’s second time at the basketball team’s training and chaewon was explaining the three main rules managers had to follow while the team was busy warming up and running laps. eunseok and shotaro, the captains, were leading the rest, seunghan and sungchan trying to outrun each other as the other three jogged at a relaxed pace, chatting amongst themselves.
“for the last time anton, i’m not hitting you in the face, or anywhere else for that matter. even i think that’s too far.”
“oh come on, you had no issue doing it last time!”
“that’s because it wasn’t intentional last time! and besides, it was your fault for jumping out and scaring me when the gym’s power went out.”
anton rolled his eyes, increasing his speed and deciding to jog up to sungchan and seunghan in front, trying to see if any of them would be up to giving him a black eye.
“for some reason eunseok doesn’t like his water cold so you have to use the water cooler at the left side of the gym, it dispenses room temperature water.” chaewon explained as the three of you began gathering their bottles, highlighting how the red bottle, which belonged to eunseok, was the only one that had special instructions. eunchae brought the captain’s bottle to the other side of the gym while you and chaewon headed to the other water cooler, busying yourselves with refilling the bottles and talking about how your classes have been.
“so i texted her again and she told me she dropped the class? well, not really dropped it officially, but she stopped showing up and told me she doesn’t mind failing it. she was the only one in that class that i talked to on a regular basis,” you had a somewhat disappointed tone, admitting to your friend that you were struggling to find people to connect with in some of your classes, with most of your classmates already finding their cliques and settling down as it was well into the semester already. it wasn’t that you were unpleasant to be around or unfriendly, it was just that you were too introverted for your own good and didn’t know how to approach people, a flaw that always ended up coming to bite you in the ass.
you handed chaewon a blue bottle with a brachiosaurus sticker on it as she hummed, reassuring you that this phase would eventually pass and you would find someone you click with naturally, just like how she and sakura became friends when they were freshmen. “don’t you know seunghan and anton? they’re in your class too, right?”
“i’m not close to them, i’ve only talked to anton once. they seem to be together all the time.”
“ah, that’s because anton is too shy to go anywhere on his own. he always makes sure he has either seunghan or sohee with him.” chaewon motioned to anton, who was currently chitchatting with seunghan as they were finishing their last lap, the younger male putting his hands together and seemingly begging his teammate for something.
turning off the dispenser, you and chaewon brought the heavy bottles back to the benches just as the team had completed their warm ups. the group of them had collapsed on the floor, panting as they gulped down their water desperately. while they were cooling off, chaewon began to explain what else you and eunchae should remember as managers.
second rule: make sure there are always ice packs ready.
just behind the gym was a small utility room where the team kept extra basketballs, towels, and a mini fridge used to store ice packs. “injuries happen a lot more often than you think. a lot more. i would say we go through about three ice packs a week? minimum three. oh, and sometimes the team members use this fridge to store ice cream for when they finish practice. if they leave without taking it, it’s yours.” you and eunchae bent down, inspecting the contents of the mini fridge which had four ice packs, two bottles of banana milk, and one vanilla ice cream in it. chaewon proceeded to show you two around the room, showing where the first aid kit was and where the spare towels were kept. while that was happening, all three of you were unaware of the chaos outside.
“taro hyung, i told you i needed them today!”
“i’m sorry, i was running late and forgot to bring them! why do you even want my old shoes? they’re so worn out and they have no friction, you’ll basically slip on the court.”
anton whined as his vice-captain continued to question his intentions for wanting his worn out and tattered shoes, confused as to why the younger male was suddenly asking such odd favours from everyone on the team. between initiating a conversation by going up to you and getting someone else to physically hurt him, anton decided the latter was much easier. seunghan and sohee told him that he was insane but he didn’t care, he was just desperate at this point. it had been two months since he started having lessons with you and the furthest he had gotten was that conversation with you in the hallways. sure you two would smile at each other when you bumped into him around campus but anton wanted more and he was willing to do whatever it took. just not approach you first, obviously.
“what’re you doing, sohee?” seunghan creeped up behind his friend who was holding onto a basketball, squinting as he tried to perfect his aim. his aim which was directed towards anton. “i’m trying to see if i can get this ball to hit anton in the face. it’s better to do it when he’s distracted, this way he won’t see it coming.” instead of calling sohee insane too, seunghan held onto his hands, guiding the ball to the left. “this is a better aim.” sohee muttered out a soft thanks, fully focused on making sure his one and only chance of hitting anton would not be wasted. once the both of them were finally satisfied with their position, sohee launched the ball towards anton, hitting him right in the face and making him fall backwards from the impact.
the sound of the ball coming into contact with his face was so loud, it got your attention even from inside the utility room. “sounds like someone just got hit by a ball. y/n, this is your time to shine.” chaewon pushed the first aid kit towards you, ushering you and eunchae out of the room and back onto the court where you were met with the sight of anton holding his face in pain while the other team members surrounded him. you quickly went up to him, helping him up and holding his arm to guide him to the bleachers carefully. you saw a slight trickle of blood and panicked, tightening your grip on his arm. you didn’t even notice how the male had a slight smile on his face and turned around to give his friend a thumbs up, sohee giving him one back as well.
you slowly guided anton and helped him sit down as you opened the first aid kit and got some tissues ready. you gently pressed the tissue to his nose to clean up some of the blood, fingers lightly touching the bridge of his nose to make sure it wasn’t broken. “does it hurt when i do this?” you applied pressure on some areas, your face dangerously close to his. anton held his breath and he nodded, a little faster than he could currently handle, wincing in pain. you held onto his chin, your touch gentle and soft, tilting his head back slightly.
“um… aren’t you supposed to tilt the head downwards for nosebleeds?”
“oh. right,” you awkwardly giggled, changing the position of anton’s head and tilting it downwards with your other hand on the back of his head for support. you gently patted the back of his head, stroking his hair unconsciously as you occasionally replaced the tissues and checked to see if the bleeding subsided. throughout all this, the two of you remained silent but it wasn’t an unpleasant silence, with your gentle caresses and actions, anton felt comforted by you. once his nose stopped bleeding, you threw away the dirty tissues and left to get an ice pack from the mini fridge before returning and holding the cold object to anton’s nose. eventually the male decided it was time to do what he came here to do and speak up. “how’s your assignment with yoon going?”
“sucks. yoon dropped the class so i’m stuck doing it on my own.” anton tried to hide how the corners of his lips were beginning to turn up, internally thanking that so many of the students in this class were dropping it. “really? i got paired with ricky but he dropped it too… he even blocked me when i tried to message him.” the both of you laughed at how you were in the same situation, the awkwardness between you two melting away. “do you… wanna do the assignment with me? since we both don’t have partners! but it’s totally fine if you would rather do it on your own and—“
“i would like that a lot,” anton’s nervous rambling was cut off by you saying yes and he felt like the world just came to a stop. after weeks of never getting the opportunity to talk to you and get paired up with you, it was like the universe finally aligned and gave him what he needed. he was about to reach into his pocket and pull out his phone for you to type your number into when he remembered he kept his phone in his locker. seeing anton reach into his pocket and coming out with nothing, you realised that he must’ve wanted to exchange numbers. you still had your phone with you, so you took it out and gave it to him to enter his number, which he saved as ‘anton :)’. you gave him a small smile before putting your phone away and inspecting his nose again, removing the ice pack and lightly touching the tip. “does it still hurt?” you had your eyes on his nose, which was red and looked like it would bruise, but anton had his eyes on you, pupils dilated and dazed as he shook his head. “that’s good. looks like you can go back to practice now.”
before anton could begin to thank you for taking such good care of him, sungchan’s voice could be heard from the court. “anton, stop flirting with eunseok’s sister and come back!”
the rest of his teammates erupted into giggles only to get silenced by the sound of a basketball coming into contact with sungchan’s face, thanks to no one other than eunseok himself.
third rule: don’t piss off eunseok when he’s holding a basketball because he has the best aim, that’s why he’s team captain.

Spencer’s Spicy Salad
Spencer rolled up from underneath the customer’s truck as the clock struck the time for lunch. He wiped the sweat off his forehead, leaving behind a bit of grease and jumped up to his feet. Spencer was a tall young mechanic who had been left in charge of his boss’s shop for the day. A fit man college student with short curly brown hair, strong arms and defined chest he cut an figure even in his simple mechanics get up: a tight white shirt and a pair of well worn grey overalls.
He grabbed a rag and wiped off the excess grease off his hands as he popped into the break room, a tiny little alcove with a water cooler and mini-fridge, putting out the salad he had grabbed earlier before work. It was some kind of spicy Mexican salad he had seen on his feed at some local place and had decided to try it out. It was supposed to be really good for the digestive track and a delicious meal for those looking to stay fit.
Spencer propped his leg up and chowed down. It was way spicer than he had thought, the kale in it practically soaked in some creamy dressing that while delicious kept burning his tongue. Spencer kept refilling his water bottle and chugging the whole thing in order to cool off. Still it was delicious. And filling too. Spencer patted his full stomach satisfied as he tossed the bowl and finished up his lunch and went back to working in the truck.
Spencer was finishing tightened the last bolts in place underneath the truck and he felt his stomach flip. Still on the board on his back, he lifted a leg and ripped a hot fat fart.
PPOPPPFFFBBBRT!
Spencer laughed, patting his stomach as some pressure was lessened, and blew out two more farts
PPFFFERRT
BBRRTFFRRRT!
Spencer slid out from underneath the truck and was greeted with the rancid smell of his own ass. “Damn, I reck. But I really needed that!”
“Well I hope you got it all out of your system then,” said Spencer’s boss. Spencer looked up to see his boss, a middle aged man with salt and pepper hair, holding his nose and fanning the air.
“sir!” Spencer flushed, scrambling to his feet. “My bad. Sorry, I thought you said you’d be gone today.”
“I am, I am, just checking in is all. Making sure you haven’t burned down the place.”
“no sir—” PPfffpppertRRT!
Spencer covered his rear as another fart ripped out him. His stomachgurgled and flipped again. His boss increased his fanning. “Geez. Light a match in here and you just might. What did you eat, son?”
Spencer opened his mouth to respond but was waved off.
“Nevermind, is the truck ready, they should be coming to pick it up soon. I want to make sure you got this on your own, eh.” His boss smirk and tapped Spencer in the stomach and Spencer tense feeling his guts bubble and gurgle protest.
“no problem sir,” Spencer said.
“perfect, Ah look here they come now.”
Spencer turned to see a handsome man a few years older than Spencer with a bright smile and two twin teen boys glued to their phones coming in. “Hey, everything ready? We’re looking forward to going camping!” The truck owner said with high optimism. The two boys each rolled their eyes.
“You’re excited Uncle Daniel,” one of the boys groaned.
“Like a dork,” said the other. “You like being alone in the woods cause it doesn’t sound as bad as being alone in the real world.” The twins high-fived, neither looking up from their phones.
The truck owner— Daniel’s smile flattened but he push onward. “You two really don’t let up, huh. Sorry, is the truck ready? Then we’ll get out of your hair.”
“No worries,” Spencer’s boss said, “Spencer here will take care of you.”
“Right!” Spencer said offering a hand to Daniel. “Spencer. Sorry, you already know that. Um, yes, your truck is ready.”
“Wonderful that is great news.” Daniel took Spencer’s hand, giving it a firm handshake as their eyes.
“I really like camping,” Spencer blurted out. Daniel’s lips curled into a smooth grin.
“really? We’ll maybe we—“
“Ew, Uncle Daniel stop flirting with the mechanic dude,” whined one of the teens.
Spencer felt a flush on his cheeks— only for it to be replaced with a far more intense feeling in his stomach. Any butterflies he felt seemed to be carrying megaton warheads, dropping them in his intestines. An ominous gurgle went through him and Spencer clutched his abdomen. The pressure on his guts was intense. Fuuuck… he needed to shit.
“you okay?” Asked Daniel.
“yeah, yeah,” Spencer said hastily. “I just need you sign some paperwork and I’ll go grab your keys. Spencer hurried out of the garage and into the office, a series of small hot farts squeaking out of him as he went. He hurried over to the papers and
PPPPPFFFFBBBFFRRRTPPPBBBBT!!!
Spencer gasped as a massive fart erupted out of him as he bent to grab the clipboard sign the paperwork on it. He held his stomach. Fuck that spicy salad was messing with his guts. His stomach broiled like an Icelandic mud volcano. Spencer clinched his cheeks. Ahhh. Don’t think about mud volcanoes. He looked to the board where they hung the keys and then to down the hall where the bathroom was. He desperately wanted ti make a mad dash to the bathroom and absolutely destroy the toilet. But his boss and that hit uncle were waiting for him. He groaned. Shit. He could hold it for a few minutes. He grabbed the keys and speed walked back the garage. As he step through the door the water cookie gurgled and suddenly the pressure seemed to shift from. His rear, the pressure subsiding on his packed colon, but only to fall squarely onto his bladder. Spencer tensed as he paused in the garage, pressing his legs together as a lake of hot piss sloshed in his bladder, all those bottles of water lapping against the dam inside him. A dam that desperately wanted to burst.
“Spencer, you okay?”
Spencer looked up to see his boss and Daniel both looking at him. He gave them both a nervous smile.
“I-I’m fine.” Spencer said, and straightened. He forced his legs apart and focused on not pissing himself. He could hold it. He could hold it. He could hold it. Spencer repeated the thought in his head as he half walked half shuffle over to Daniel. “Here you go— Ahh!” A leak squirted out of Spencer, dribbles of hot piss splashing into his soft boxers. Spencer bent, his knees pressed together. He held back a whimper as he bounced from foot to foot, his bladder aching. Oh man he didn’t have drunk so much water.
“Are you sure you are okay dude?” Daniel asked.
“He looks like he is doing the pee dance,” snickered one of Daniel’s nephews.
Another leak squirted out of Spencer at the sound of the word ‘pee’. “Ahh!” Spencer cried out as he gave in and wedged his hand between his crotch, desperately holding onto his crotch. Spencer bit his lip and held the truck key’s for Daniel to take, but he was frozen in place.
PPpFfrtt
Spencer gasped as he farted, hot and stenching. His stomach gurgled and he temporarily lost his control on his bladder. Hot piss sprayed out of his cock and into his boxers.
“nNoooOO—Ahh!” Spencer cried out and moaned as he tried and failed to regain control. The dam gates had opened and now the flood came bursting through! Spencer stood frozen as his body let go and he began soaking his boxers, peeing his pants, a dark wet patch blooming at the crotch of his overalls and then spread fast as rivulets of urine ran down his legs and soaked through the fabric. Spencer’s eyes fluttered as he pee, flooding his overalls, sending hot push gushing through the material and over his hand, still desperately gripping his leaking crotch even as Spencer formed a puddle beneath him.
PSsssssSSHH
“oh man! The mechanic is pissing his pants!” Said on the of nephews.
“Dude is soaking them too!” Said the other, holding up his phone to record.
Spencer was helpless as his bladder emptied itself in his boxers and overalls. But that wasn’t the worse part. As his bladder gushed out, his stomach gurgle and shit that had filled him slammed against his rear. His guys bubbled and Spencer knew he wasn’t able to keep control over his bowels.
PPFFFFBBRRT
PPBBBBRFFFFERRTTT
BBBTRRFFF
Spencer bent as he was hit with a series of wet “oh no!” Spencer dropped the keys in Daniel’s hand and turned trying the run back inside, but only made it a few steps before a massive cramp bent him over.
PPPRRRRBFFFF!!!
“Come on, no, no, no,” Spencer said panicking as he fumbled with the clasp on his overalls. If he could at least get out of them, but the clasp was stuck and then it was too late. “No-AaggAAAHHH!”
Spencer moaned as he lost complete control of his bowels, a torrent of hot diarrhea exploding into his already soaked boxers and overalls. It was a volcanic mudslide, thick and soft as it blasted out of him. A massive bugle was instantly forming in his overalls, staining the back as he had the front.
BLLKOOPOOOPPPPFFFT
SPLKTPPPFFFFT
“oh my god!” Spencer’s boss cover his nose as Spencer relentless farted as wave after wave of hot recking shit erupted out of him . The liquid shit overflowed his boxers as he emptied his bowls, diarrhea slide down his legs and splattering against the garage floor. Spencer was helpless as he evacuated the hot muddy brown sewage.
PLSSPPOFFFRRT
PPBBBRRTTPPFFFTSSSTK
Spencer, defeated as another wave hit him, feel to his knees, landing in puddle of his own piss as more diarrhea filled his overalls. The foul stench filled the entirety of the garage, as Spencer could only sit in his disgrace.
“oh man,” snicker one of the twins. “This is going to get a shitload of views!”
Spencer groaned as a final fart marked the end of him shitting and soiling himself. He was never trying spicy salad again

Hi, hopefully it's still before the 5th for you bcz idk, bcz of the time zones 😭 Asmo and the number 40 would be cute imo. Congrats on 2k, that's a huge number! You must be really proud of yourself! Wish ya even more! 💕
thank you! don't worry you were on time!
so glad to see the asmo lovers come out of the woodworks for this event. i'll compile a masterlist once i complete the final request tomorrow but i think he got four requests which might be the most!
enjoy <3
prompt 40 w/ Asmo
Although Asmo was the avatar of lust and was famous for his physical beauty, you were surprised at just how many people overlooked the other beautiful things about him. Maybe it was just because they didn't know him like you did, but you could argue that his inner beauty rivaled that of what he showed off daily. There was no doubt that he was gorgeous, but he had many other glowing qualities.
You adored his mannerisms, like the way his hand always found it's way into yours when you walked side by side and the way he always looked out for you. He always scanned a room, looking specifically for you, and the way his face lit up when he saw you was adorable. You could help but melt at every time he went out of his way for you and appreciated you for you, and not what you stood for. You couldn't imagine your life without him. He always found a way to seamlessly add you to his packed schedule and you felt as if you were together more than you were apart.
One of your favorite things about him was his laugh, which was surprisingly something he didn't talk about much. He admitted to you once while drunk that the reason for this was because he didn't like it. You'd tried to comfort him in the moment, but he'd moved on and ran off before you could. After that, it hadn't come up again and you didn't want to drag down his mood. Any time he laughed at a joke you made, or when he saw one of his brother do something stupid, you thought about how much you loved it. To you, it was like the sound of the last school bell of the day. Hearing it instantly made you day better every time you heard it.
You couldn't fathom why he hated it, since he was the most handsome individual you'd ever met, inside and out. But, you always never pestered him about it because you knew what it was like to be insecure and dislike something about yourself. It was human, after all. Despite all that though, you'd always hoped that it might come up naturally one day and you could tell him you adored it.
"Mc, sweetheart, do you want another sweet tea?" Asmo got up and stretched his legs. Since the weather permitted it, the two of you, and his brothers were having a beach day. At first, it was just the two of you, but one by one, his brothers invited themselves along until they all wanted to go. Asmo didn't want to give up your time together, so he made his brothers promise they'd give you space. You knew that wouldn't last long, but you let him has his moment.
"No thanks. I'm still working on this one." You gestured to the half full glass beside you.
"Alright." He walked around behind your chairs to the cooler and refilled his own glass. He sat back down once he was done. Rather than shut his eyes again, he watched his brothers fool around closer to the water. Mammon and Levi were fooling around knee deep in the water. After a well timed, swift push from Levi, Mammon feel into the water. It must've been deeper than it looked behind him, because he got totally submerged. He came back up about a second later, furious at Levi. He tried a couple times to shove Levi back but failed every time. Asmo burst out laughing like he hadn't in a while, swatting your arm a couple times to make sure you were watching. While what Levi and Mammon were doing was undeniably funny, you couldn't tear your eyes away from Asmo.
"What? I know I'm beautiful." He swept his bangs aside and smiled at you, fluttering his eyelashes.
"You have such a pretty laugh is all." Asmo seemed a little surprised at your words. He opened and closed his mouth a couples times before shutting it all together. "Really, you do. I love it."
He wordlessly started at you, before responding with a quiet, "Thank you." The rest of your afternoon together was just as it had been before, but you caught Asmo giving you significantly more lingering looks. That night, his Devilgram post about you beach trip was very sweet and was mostly pictures of you and him together. He sat down with you after dinner and gave you a hug, and insisted on cuddling. You noticed he started to laugh more after you'd told him that. How wonderful it was to see how far one sweet compliment could take him. You were glad you could uplift him in the same way he uplifted you countless times.

no plastic waste from everyone needing to carry water bottles everywhere, being able to take medication on the fly if you're out longer than you expect, heck even free water for the homeless who otherwise might die of dehydration.
I get the problem in deserts, but when there's a bigass river rushing right through town there's not really any shortage. And everyone needs water to live.
I miss every establishment having a working, public drinking fountain

Y/n sat on her beach chair under an umbrella with hard lemonade in her cups holder. Y/n and jj decided to have a beach date taking time away from the group. They went to a public beach surrounded by family’s, friends and couples on vacation. The sounds of segals mixed with the different genres of music playing in the background including reggaeton, country and pop. The smell of sunscreen, saltwater and bbq filled their noses. Although it wasn’t the most peaceful setting they loved the community vibe. They needed some happiness and sun after everything with losing the gold.
Soon jj came back with food he got at a stand. He got them sandwiches and more beer.
“Here you go darlin’. I got you turkey” jj said handing her the sandwiches as he placed the beers in the cooler.
“Thank you love” she grabbed the wrapped paper that said turkey unwrapping it taking a big bite.
“Ooh these are so good oh my” she said with her mouth full.
“Yea maybe keep it in your mouth then..” he said with a small laugh.
Y/n gets her speaker playing the pouges beach playlist called “the bitch” with a picture of jj passed out on his surf board. Omar Apollo’s,“Kamikaze” started playing which cause y/n to immediately perk up.
“Oh my god he’s go good I can’t-” she put her sandwich in a sand free spot and got up turning up her music. She started dancing getting a few looks from people but she didn’t care. She was vibing.
“Alright y/n sit down and eat your sandwich.” Jj joked with her
“Fuck you boy, imma leave this state and never come back, never never come back.” She sang along. After the song finished she finally sat down finishing her sandwich.
After a few minutes jj got up grabbing her hand and leading them to the ocean. They had to zig zag through the groups of people but they made it to the coast. There were little kids in the shallow part, they walked passed them going waist deep into the water. The swam closer to now being shoulder deep floating in the ocean. They were farther away from the shore in a little more secluded area with just them but not too close to the surfers.
They swam and play fought in the ocean, splashing each other until one of them got pissed off. jj making sure y/n wasn’t floating or drowning as they got farther in. They floated at least 30ft above the sea floor engulfed in each other arms, jjs chin rested on y/n head. Just taking in each other presence and enjoying the peace and safety they craved.
“In a way I’m glad we lost the gold.” Y/n spoke
“Like don’t get me wrong I wanted the money but all the danger and drama that was in it wasn’t healthy.” she said as jj pulled away getting a better look at the girl.
“Yea I get it but it all would’ve been worth it if we got it.” Jj said trying to make her feel better.
“Laying in silk bed sheets on a California king, jaguars and lambos in our drive way. Endless refills of Budweiser given from our butlers.” He said with his eyes sparkling.
“Yea your paradise” she rolled her eyes.
“Still, mine or yours we would be happy and filthy rich. Full kook remember?” He said looking for a bit of happiness in her eyes.
“Would it though ? Rafe literally killed a cop, John b almost died? we were getting chased by death every. single. day. If we were to got it, who knows who would’ve went after us again.” she said as a small tear fell down her cheek.
“Even now with gold is gone. People are starting to believe John B killed Officer Peterkin. Ward with his power can put us all in jail. Or worse.” with another one trialing down.
“Hey hey hey- don’t cry. It’s all going to be okay, we have each other alright? I wouldn’t let anything happen to you.” He said pulling her into a hug.
“Let’s just enjoy the sun yeah? Happy wife happy life” he said giving her a kiss in the cheek.
“Wife?” She questioned. Yes they were boyfriend girlfriend but they haven’t been together long enough to even consider getting married.
“Yes my wife?!” He scoffed giving her kisses all over her face.
“Didn’t know we got married, must’ve missed it” she giggled return.
“Ah yes everyone was there, John b, Pope, Heyward catered. Even Rafe” he joked
“Rafe? Can’t believe he got the invite AND accepted it” she joked with him
“Yea, he was jealous, saw the tears in his eyes.” He said hinting about Rafes small feeling for you.
“Oh shut it, that was traumatizing. I rejected him and he actually looked hurt yet so angry. If you wouldn’t have gotten there in time who knew what he could’ve done. You saw what his did to Peterkin.” She pushed him away.
“I’m sorry my princess. I wouldn’t let him or anyone lay a finger on you.” He said pulling her back.
“You’re not going anywhere Mrs.Maybank.”
“Oh like you can tie me down ?” She smirked looking up at him.
“Oh honey I already have.” He retuned the smirk bringing her into a deep heated kiss.
“Come on let’s go home Maybank.” She said swimming towards the shore.
“Right behind you Mrs.Maybank.”
-time skip-
Jj and y/ns car came to a stop in John bs driveway. They followed eachother hand in hand giggling from the past convo they had in the car. As they made their way through the front door jj spoke up.
“JOHNATHAN ? SARAHHH?! KIE??? PROOPEEEE!?” He yelled out checking to see if anyone was around, throwing their nicknames in.
A couple seconds pass and no a single sound was heard.
“Hmm house to ourself. What to do, what to do….” He said looking around perusing his lips acting all innocent.
“Let’s head to the guest room, might as well take it before someone else comes home right?” she said playing his game.
“Might as well ya know?” His noses scrunched up.
Jj dragged y/n by the hand entering the room locking the door behind her. She turned towards the bed before jj quickly picked her up, legs around his waist and his hands holding her on her lower thighs slowly working their ways up.
“So what did you say about tying me up?” She said grabbing the side of his face.
“Better I show you yea?” She said throwing her on the bed.

Hellcheer AU: Usually, we see Chrissy pulled into Eddie's world when they meet (like in the show.) How about one where Eddie's forced into Chrissy's harrowing world of two-faced preppy popularity? A "The principal formally bans the Hellfire Club from operating, and Eddie's forced to work for/with the basketball team, or even better the cheer squad, after the principal threatens to fully expel him unless he shapes up" AU. No Vecna, but Chrissy and Jason are still together (for the drama.)
oh lord, the absolute mischief Eddie Munson would cause:
In my head, the principal didn't ban Hellfire, but it is the threat he uses against Eddie to make him do some amount of in-school service (Eddie could probably handle disappointing Wayne by being expelled, but the idea of disappointing his and all future sheep by getting the club taken away permanently? Removing the safe haven he's spent so much time building as their shepherd? That's the legacy of the outcasts, he won't have it endangered).
Eddie basically becomes the "assistant" to all of the sports teams - so a glorified water boy during practices for both the basketball team and the cheer squad during the second semester, but he also has to do concessions during games (both at home and away).
He's sort of always had a thing for Chrissy Cunningham, but seeing her in her element while she's coming up with choreography and helping her fellow cheerleaders kinda makes him want to eat his own skin and get a flower tattoo the same color as her hair. He also isn't totally blind so every time she comes to refill her water bottle that's only half empty, he's definitely 110% willing to strike up the conversation she's obviously searching for.
The jock straps with their laundry ball are a whole other flock of bullshit to contend with though. So, if Eddie has to subtly put them in their place every now and again (spitting in their water cooler, returning as many stupid remarks as they seem intent to give him, flirting obviously with their captain's girlfriend) he's not above it.
It's actually the stupid remarks that spark the first public issue with Chrissy and Jason, though, because Fuckface McGee says something loudly about how Eddie's basically lowlife garbage that will never accomplish anything in his life and Chrissy stands up for him (be still his cynical heart) in front of the cheer squad and the basketball team. Which embarrasses Jason.
Oops bonus #6: that very night, when Jason is trying to haul Chrissy into his car like a sack of potatoes, Eddie steps between them and manhandles Jason the exact way Jason tried to manhandle Chrissy. Putting him in his place, of course, but when he offers to drive Chrissy home after Jason speeds off, the only thing she says is, "Why the hell would you do that, Eddie?"
send me an AU and I'll make up five facts about it!
