Earlier this year I had the pleasure of being commissioned to design a character for a Redwall-adjacent TTRPG, Cassian the Dormouse thief. I definitely would love to do more work like this again, and it was thanks to my Inktober sketches that the client found me. I also made an icon for them to use on Roll20 or Discord depending on where they played, or if they needed a token.

His design is based on the Bavarian Dormouse because I thought the natural mask sold his character type.

I completely forgot to post this here, but I commissioned this artpiece of my Redwall OC/RPG character, Persephone! Persa for her friends, she's a farmer, she's not that bright, but she has a big heart. She also has a sickle and is very willing to use it for her kith and kin. 😌

Burrow’s End is truly amazing, a heart wrenching story told through D&D stoats. I recommended it to my friend and they immediately made a fan stoat and now so have I. I’ll be drawing him more in between other projects.

Still working on him and his background. He is an older adventurer who lives around the Red Warren, stopping by to help mentor the younger generations. With the coming of the poison fog who knows where he’ll go now?

They wear birch bark armor and wield a bone sword, both made himself.

✨ My Redwall Ocs ✨

Storra - Storra was once under the tyrannical rule of Cluny the Scourge. After refusing to hurt a family of woodlanders, Storra ran away from Cluny’s army to live in peace at Redwall Abbey. Though a bit overzealous and headstrong, Storra would do anything to protect her friends and to keep Redwall safe.

Captain Clawlion - Abandoned as a dibbun and found and raised by a crew of pirate Searats, Clawlion eventually grew up to become Captain of the same crew that took him in. After years of clawing his way up and stepping over otherbeasts, he got his wish to become a leader. Clawlion soon regrets becoming a pirate Captain when he finds out that his crew is plotting to overthrow him.

Iceroot - Iceroot is a kindly white fox who made a treacherous journey from The Land of Ice and Snow to Mossflower in search of a new life. Clever, understanding, caring, and constantly reading and writing in her scrolls, Iceroot knows how to make any type of potion or cure you can think of. She resides in Redwall Abbey as a healer. She loves playing in the snow and will do anything for some strawberry jam.

Scully - Scully is a slippery, conniving, and boisterous corsair who enjoys stealing treasure and then forging fakes of them to sell to unsuspecting beasts. He isn’t the worst pirate to come across as the most he’ll do is take your money or try to sell you knockoff jewelry. Scully has a bit of a good side. He looks after his friends and always upholds his loyalty to his fellow crewmates and captain.

Did you know fox paws have fur on the pads and also that the fur on their paws and toes will grow a bunch if not worn down by running around anyway that means I think Reive, who wears cavalry boots all the time, has fetlocks.

I can't draw but my Redwall OC is Don Salvador, an enormous plate armoured plague rat. After a wicked life of pillage, he is cured of the plague by a vision of Martin the Warrior and guided to the abbey, where he redeems himself by taking up his huge zweihander in defence of the innocent (perhaps from his former partners in crime.). After Redwall is saved, Salvador hangs up his sword to become a quiet, jolly friar, his pockmarked visage and hints of an old mercenary life serving only to ward light-fingered dibbuns from his scones.

Veil, the Stormfire Mage

Veil. He is the reincarnation of an orphan who grew up tortured by the prejudices of the "good beasts" at the abbey that took the infant in, yet shown nothing but contempt and distrust for the boy because he was the one of the "vermin" species. Branded in his very name for it is the anagram of "evil". Damned for sins of the father - sins of his kin - the boy resigned himself to his destiny and snapped, lashing out in violence that would see him cast out by the "good beasts."

The boy's adoptive mother left in pursuit of her son to redeem him. When her perilous journey brought her into mortal danger, the boy sacrificed his life to save the one person who cared for him.

Yet, to defend against prejudice with reason and immutable deeds is to fight the tide of the ocean with a wall of sand. When the mother returned to her abbey, surrounded by her peers, she concluded that "inborn evil cannot be reclaimed." With that, the boy's memory and his act of love was consigned to damnation, then oblivion as what tarnished memory they had quickly faded.

Unfortunately for the "good beasts" of the abbey, the story does not end here. Like a spark in an alchemist's lab filled with elements and concoctions that have yet to even be dreamed of - let alone obtained - that spark would be the beginning of a fire that cannot be extinguished nor contained - not even by the confines of death itself.

Still, anguish and hatred to wake the dead seem to be… sedentary in it's revenge. Is roaming the earth as a vengeful demon to enact perdition on those whom have wronged him yet another destiny thrust upon him by forces outside his comprehension?

Forcibly, his presence is to be discreet until day of judgment. Invisibly, he watches the abbey that cast him out. Falteringly, he dreads what he is compelled to do. Silently, he weeps for the one whom he had thought loved him. Secretly, he prays for his redemption - and the salvation of all those he's obliged to destroy. Solemnly, he accepts. Action or inaction, perdition or salvation; his fate is too awesome for he alone to manipulate.

The book Outcast of Redwall... affected me as a teen.
