The Moon - Illusion, fear, anxiety, subconscious, intuition

A tarot card with my character Raziel. I wasn’t feeling great earlier in the day and wanted to make some structured art to take my mind off of it. I chose a card at random and surprisingly The Moon fit him and his situation quite well. Making this piece really did make me feel better.

There’s a lot going on here that I’m still discovering in game. Like the fact that he might be able to take on draconic features despite being in his werewolf form. I have sketchbook pages full of this half-man, half-wolf, half crystal dragon creature.

The horrors of Hemomancy that you will only see on the battlefield.

Combining Red Wood Expansion with the lycan form is forbidden to younger Bloodhunters. Practiced only by those strong enough and practiced enough to resist the voice of the Wolf and the intoxication of physical strength.

Exiting the lycan form while enlarged is messy. It’s theorized that the ritual of regurgitation helps to separate the mind and body of the Bloodhunter from it’s summoned avatar. Those who cannot let go of their lycan forms are at risk of loosing their identities and succumbing to feral atavistic instincts.

I have a lot of feelings about this piece. I almost didn’t post it. Ultimately Bloodhunters are an important part of my D&D campaign and are something I have put a lot of thought into and want to share. I plan on doing more posts like this, art accompanied by lore from my setting. I’ll be putting it all under #bloodhunterlore on my tumblr. This is something I’m very passionate about and would love any thoughts or comments.

A puppy character I made for a friend.

A cover illustration I did for our OotA game. Featuring our warlock and Bloodhunter.

I think I drew and colored this piece about six months ago. I felt conflicted about it at the time and I can see why, there are some things here I could have definitely done better, that being said I can see the improvement in my art from that time to now. Composition and ink confidence is something I’ve really been focusing on.

Despite everything I could say I’m still proud of this piece. I made it during a time of real struggle. It’s not perfect but I made it. Cover illustration is my dream job and every one I make is another step closer.

A sketch for my personal enjoyment. I’ll be posting some more lore about him later, about him and his siblings trying to make it in Menzoberranzan.

Overall ide say a success. I've never used this tape mask on this paper before and that's what gave me the most trouble. You can see in the corner there some of the paper ripped up while removing the mask. I can fix it with more watercolor but I was stressful as hell pulling it up.

The actual effect of the glowing pillar I am very happy with. I probably will be using air brushing again on my paintings.

The local color on this so good as well as the watercolor effects! A bit nervous to add the wash and unify it with the background and add the shadow but I know I can do it.

I've been a bit conflicted on whether to continue with this illustration. I want it to be good enough to boost my portfolio but I'm wondering how much it will really add. I also don't want to use it as an excuse to procrastinate submitting my work. As a point of principle I will finish it. I'm at least getting more comfortable with my ink watercolor and general workflow.
