you hate him because of how badly you miss him. his half-cocked smile, like he's shy to admit he's happy. his darkened eyes, the focus and concentration on the simplest tasks. his hair, wet on your pillowcase, his nose brushing yours.

you miss his scent, smoky and sharp and wistful. you miss the way his fingers traced your features like he was studying a painting. you miss his tongue poking out of the corner of his mouth while he watches you laugh at his jokes.

you miss the way he woke up in the morning and left the bed, as if embarrassed to be caught in such a domestic scene. you miss the way he melted right back into your arms the second you called for him.

you miss his sharp teeth and sharper wit, his rough chuckles that you won with such a feeling of victory.

you miss the way he brushed your hair with such reverence, the way he sprayed your perfume on for you, holding your wrist with delicate awe. you miss the way he nuzzled into your shoulder as you told him off for being gone so long.

you miss his temper, even. his passion for so much, swinging darkly between pride and shame. you miss his brooding, you miss feeling the maelstrom of him lying next to you.

i can’t wait for porter to watch the repercussions of his words, seeing treasure completely curled in on themselves mentally. for him to need to reassure them in everything they do or say and know he made them like this, to watch them walk on eggshells around him, a layer of trust completely shattered. he’d say ‘you don’t have to act like i bite, treasure..’ and they’d mumble back ‘i know, i’m sorry’ but nothing would change. to sit there and look at them and see a younger version of him. to sit there and look at himself and see someone he thought he left behind. maybe they would better off without him.

'Darlin' turns into 'Dawlin' when Sam is sleepy and his mate does everything in their power to keep him dozy so they can spend their time flush against his warm body, listening to his honeyed lips mewl that sweet name into their ears like tender devotion.

Absolutely EVERYONE had a crush on Sam when he was a freelancer in his healing class.

Like can you imagine buff southern man sitting in a lecture hall, pen resting on his lips while he's listening.

Or he's got his eyes shut, concentrating, hands hovering over a fellow student breathing deeply, practicing his healing magic with his sleeves rolled up. He opens his brown kind eyes catching the eyes of the patient, and gives them a gentle smile, "I'll get you fixed up in no time" he banters with them (they're perfectly fine its just a practice drill) but they turn bright red. He's concerned he made their internal body temperature too high by accident.
