Headcanons for the Shaw Pack's Relationships with Marie Greer

Inspired by a DM from @luminesceintbutterfly

David... sees Marie as the mother he never had. She steps in as a motherly figure in his life, even during moments when he resists it. From birth to adulthood, Marie is there for him through thick and thin. (Interested in seeing that relationship featured in a fic? Check out "In Name and Spirit.")

Angel... sees Marie as a wise beacon of both shifter information and life wisdom. Marie can see the positive change to David that Angel enacts, and she is forever grateful to this kind unempowered human. Angel will often consult Marie when it comes to navigating their alpha-mate duties. Marie is more than happy to lend an ear, hand, or shoulder.

Asher... sees Marie as a powerhouse. To him, Marie is as close as an aunt as someone can get. Marie is Áine's best friend (my headcanon of Asher's mother), lending any help she could to help the humanborn couple acclimate to life in a pack for the first time. Find out more about Asher's parents' story in Chapter 4 of Packed with Love . Growing up, Marie could always be trusted to heal Asher's many injuries and, scold him for putting himself at risk. Despite those lectures, Asher knows that Marie always has his back, and trusts her with his life.

Babe... sees Marie as a role model. Marie is so sure of herself, so focused, so capable and strong. She can do anything she sets her mind to, and inspires everyone around her to work as hard as she does. Babe always loves to hear Marie tell a story, finding their senses of humor to be very similar. Babe aspires to make Marie proud as they figure out how to serve the pack as beta-mate.

Milo... sees Marie as his mama. The woman who raised him. The woman who protects him. The woman who spent her whole life making sure he was cared for, loved, and set up for success, no matter how the odds were stacked. Milo knows just how lucky he is to have her in his life (even if she does drive him crazy sometimes), and he spends his life trying to be a man who makes his mama proud.

Sweetheart... sees Marie as a hero who raised their very favorite person. Marie embraces Sweetheart with all her heart, and Sweetheart is forever grateful. Their relationship is solid, strong, and loving. Marie is so ready to do anything for Sweetheart, because she truly wants her son's mate to be happy, healthy, and safe.

Darling... sees Marie as an ally. Marie is the first to call out an injustice or question a decision that might have negative consequences. She's logical, but empathic. She's fierce, but gentle. She's strong and weathered, but never lost that spark that makes her special. Darling admires Marie, and always cherishes their time together.

Sam... sees Marie as a trusted friend. The two bond over healing technique, long-gone pop culture, and common sense. Sam may not always enjoy the social aspect of being in a pack, but when he spots Marie an an event, he always makes it a point to connect with her.

Aggro... sees Marie as his grandma. She covers him with blankets when she visits (which is very often) and feeds him whenever he asks.

Gabe... saw Marie as family. He liked that Marie was never intimidated by his alpha-status, and that let the two develop a deep, meaningful friendship over the years.

In my opinion darlin has great fashion sense naturally and the only reason they wear run down, kinda unflattering clothing is because side of their lifestyle with Quinn and their subsequent hunt for him.

Once Darlin has a chance to finally settle down with Sam and get comfortable around him and embrace domestic life they rebuild their closet and fashion taste and become one of the most fashion forward pack members and empowered members in dahlia.

Author's Note : I've always liked the idea that if Sam and Darlin' were ever to have a conversation on whether Darlin' would ever be a vampire and live an eternal life with Sam; they'd decline.

Because I think that it'd make a nice resolution to the conflict that Alexis brings. I for one, love Alexis as a character. Her actions are cruel and unjustified, but she does have quite the tragic narrative in my opinion. Sam having to live a temporary life with Darlin' would show his difference in character and attitude towards love. Alexis once mentioned in the Monarchial Summit that she turned Sam because she wanted him, and I would like to see Sam experience that same "want" over someone but dealing with it in a different way; relishing his time with Darlin' instead of subjecting them to eternal life like Alexis did with him. It's a "breaking of a cycle" of sorts, I guess.

And that's also why I added Alexis in this comic, because I also want her to be the person witnessing this decision that Sam made and the grief he's had to live with as a result. Because I think she has the mindset that if you love someone, that you do whatever it takes to make them stay, while with Sam, he's willing to go through the grief and pain precisely BECAUSE he loves Darlin'.

Also the comet is Halley's comet, that passes by earth every 79 or so years!

Vega and Warden (Vulpecula) my beloveds <3. Some of my favourite designs and my all time favourite Redacted couple <3 (Vega and Pet are not as high because Pet is not immortal).

I got lots to say, buckle up bitches:

- Vega I have already posted my design for way back, when I did my Redacted rainbow series! So those of you who've seen it know this design well. :) He's like... 240ish cm (about 7ft10) with his horns, and 215cm (7ft) without because size difference with his partners is important to me. His star, Vega, is on the neck, and he tends to wear very seethrough fabrics in styles somewhat mixing modern and old greek fashion, with all the drapery and such. His horn jewellery shows off all his horns (which represent all the knowledge and power he has gained throughout his life), and also holds them together when they heal. Also, his 6 horns represent Seraphim wings, because I see him very much as a 'fallen angel' figure. And his horns are also meant to blend how I think Sadism, Strife, and Fear demon horns look because those are the main emotions he had been surrounded by for so long.

- Vulpecula (It/Its, open to He/Him) takes a lot from Vega. Intentionally. It learned a lot from Vega and tries to imitate him in a few ways, such as in its jewellery and outfit choice. Though it is a little more feminine. Also, it has a necklace that represents Vega's neck marking (which I have irl :3). It lost a piece of its tail and still has impaired mobility from it since it used to be way larger and heavier at the end. Its primary pair of horns is curly and somewhat sharp, akin to a mix of Empathy Daemons (ram horns) mixed with Strife Demons (Horns always point outward), in my headcanon. And its second pair of horns growing in mimic Vega's main set <3. Also, it responds to the nickname 'little fox', which used to be used to degrade it for being small and weak, but now is moreso used by Vega to represent its cunning and smart, even if it is relatively young and naive, as well as its tenacity. And I have whole post on why it uses it/its pronouns :3.

like yes he calls them ‘darling’ yada yada but he almost takes a paternal(?) role when it comes to nurturing them????

he rescues them, he feeds them, he tries to reconnect them with the demonic habits they were shamed out of expressing, he teaches them and tries to subtly influence their behavior towards a possible corruption arc and just

this isn’t me trying to make their relationship weird or smth i’m just saying i have absolutely no idea how vega and wardens relationship actually works between them… not every listener and character are destined to end in a romantic relationship so that’s why i’m thinking that the relationship between warden and vega won’t become romantic and more of that weird friendship you have with your 50 year old coworker who smokes 2 packs a day.

Headcanons for Sleep Troubles (and Coping Techniques) of the Shaw Pack

David: Nightmares. We know from David’s audios that he had nightmares as a child. Even as an adult, David will occasionally have a nightmare that leaves him sweating and shaking. When he was an adult, David would suffer in silence, never wanting to wake Asher or face the reality that his father was no longer there to help him deal with the nightmares. Angel, however, never fails to awaken during David’s nightmares. They never pressure David to go right back to sleep. Instead, they meet David where he is, sometimes providing him with a soothing, steady monologue or letting David talk out what he can remember of his dream, until he finally feels safe and tired enough to sleep again with Angel.  

Angel: Insomnia. Angel suffers from bouts of insomnia. They chalk it up to their racing thoughts and try to make light of the condition, despite the toll it takes on them. Angel loathes the way insomnia creeps into their daily life: headaches, a lack of coordination/motivation, irritability, and more. When Angel is in the midst of an insomniatic episode, David will come up with a few excuses to rationalize his staying up with Angel. He finds it easier to stay awake when in his wolf form, which just so happens to give Angel the chance to shower him with love and relax with their mate until their mind finally slows enough to let them fall asleep. 

Asher: Sleepwalking and Sleep-shifting. Asher has the inconvenient habit of shifting into his wolf form and walking around the house. His penchant for wandering around means that Babe triple-checks the locks on the door at night to ensure that he’s not a covert liability. If they catch Asher mid-episode, Babe will gently usher Asher back to bed, careful not to wake him. In human form, Babe can usually figure out how to engage with Asher in a way that aligns with his current dream. When he’s in wolf-form, Babe finds that just their presence and tender insistence for Asher to follow them is enough to get him back to bed safely. 

Babe: Sleep Paralysis. (I’m borrowing this headcanon from @nat-seal-well.) When Babe’s sleep paralysis overtakes them, they struggle to distinguish reality from imagination. As terrifying as it is for Asher to have to watch Babe endure whatever horrible things they see/hear/feel, he always makes sure to stay with them so that they aren’t alone when they finally come back to their senses. He’ll gently rub their forehead and kiss them, offering tactile reassurance as he whispers to them until Babe realizes they are safe and in control of their body. 

Milo: Snoring. Milo snores loudly and constantly. It’s an uncomfortable disorder that not only annoys Sweetheart and Aggro, but causes Milo discomfort, too. He wakes up with a dry mouth, sore jaw, and always feels groggy upon waking up in the morning having not slept well. The problem is, no matter how much Milo wishes he could stop snoring, once he’s asleep, he has no awareness of or control over it. When Milo starts to snore, Sweetheart tries to roll Milo into a more comfortable position or prop Milo up with pillows until his snoring quiets and he settles back into a restful sleep. Sometimes, Sweetheart includes a shoulder/neck massage in their repositioning, and judging by the way Milo snuggles into their touch and smiles, he’s grateful for their touch even when he’s not conscious. 

Sweetheart: Hypnic Jerk. (You know that odd experience of beginning to fall asleep, only for your part or all of your body to jerk involuntarily, bringing you back to wakefulness? That happens to Sweetheart frequently, sometimes multiple times a night.) Being a stealth, sometimes they even wake up to parts or all of their body cloaked involuntarily. It frustrates Sweetheart to no end, to be on the cusp of sleep and then have the promise of sleep suddenly ripped away from them. Some nights, they are just exhausted, and it feels deeply unfair that their active mind wouldn’t slow down to let them rest. Even when Milo’s deep in sleep, something within him must sense that his mate is in distress, because he’ll always roll over and take hold of Sweetheart until they do, finally, fall asleep. 

Darling: Sleep-talking. Darling has a lot to say, both awake and while dreaming. They talk endlessly when they sleep (or chuff and growl if they fell asleep in their wolf form.) Remarkably, they never seem in distress when they sleep-talk. Instead, it sounds more like they are chatting about their day, even if their responses don’t make actual sense. (Once, Sam could’ve sworn he heard Darling say, “Why is my green paint all over the brownies, Steve Irwin?”) Sam doesn’t mind in the slightest. He loves to hear Darling’s voice and to know that they are deeply asleep, safe at his side to have any dream their heart wants to conjure in their mind. 

Sam: N/A. He may not sleep often anymore as a vampire, but when he does, he sleeps deeply. It’s no surprise, as his sleep hygiene is nearly perfect. As a human, Sam had many sleepless nights due to worries, frustrations, self-destruction, and, after enrolling at D.A.M.N, all-nighters. Once he’s a vampire, Sam decides to make a deliberate effort to bring the world (and himself) more peace, and that shows up in his sleep.

Imagine if darlin entered the Shaw pack as a child instead of a preteen/teen.

6 year old darlin being introduced to the other kids of the pack and being seen as so cool for having lived in another state as if they just moved from another country.

Their family being begged come to everything from barbecues to birthday parties to movie nights by children and then being whisked away by the other children.

Darlin going to spend holidays and some summers in Washington and being asked to write or send a postcard.

Darlin with thick as thieves friends who stand up for them when school starts and older kids try to make fun of them or exclude them for being new.

Darlin and the other pack children mimicking pack runs before they can shift, everyone giggling and chasing each other around.

Darlin who has a sibling relationships with almost all the other kids, being seen as the cool older sibling figure to younger children.

Said younger children following them around and calling them ‘my sibling’ even though they aren’t related.

Darlin who just has a good life in the Shaw pack.
