Record of Isekai
Crossovers are going to be the death of me. Not many things make me feel the same as pairing two universes that mingle well (and sometimes that don’t) and seeing something wonderful come out of it.
But how about 10+ series? Following the Record of Ragnarok formula is possible, and I need people talking about this.
Summary
Existence was made up by several universes, endless worlds connected with each other. Normally independent from each other, one day, the divinity of each world came together and decided the fate of those that are transported and reborn to new worlds: Erasure. Yet thanks to a certain Valkyrie, they would get a fighting chance! Thirteen against thirteen, in a battle called Ragnarok! Gods, divine and similar would face the mortals in one against one duels! Will the divine get what they want or will the mortals defy fate itself?
Review
First and foremost, aside from being a crossover fan, I must admit that I really like the isekai genre. A fat chunk of it is trash, don’t get me wrong. But we don’t always need a gourmet dish to satiate our hunger. Sometimes the shitty burger with more grease than actual nutritious content is just the thing we’re craving.
But I digress. Why am I talking about Record of Isekai?
Well, obviously because it’s fun. It’s well-written. There’s obviously a lot of thought going into each fight, but most importantly it doesn’t suffer from the same problem that the canon RoR suffers.
If you read Record of Isekai, it’s probably because you liked RoR and at least know some of the fighters that are going to be on the human side. Characters like the isekai quartet, Rudeus Greyrat, and Cid Kagenou have all been gathered to fight for the right to jump between worlds and to continue existing no matter what the gods say. And that’s perfect for the story that this fanfic is trying to tell.
We know these character, or at least have an idea of who they are. The story doesn’t dwell too much in their backstories because of this, and the pacing doesn’t suffer as result. Furthermore, the gods that fight are also from other series that people can recognize and be surprised by. And as result, each outcome is all the more impactful. You cheer for these guys to win, even if you don’t like their series, because the gods they’re pinned against really test their might. The OP pls nerf factor of isekai MCs is effectively nullified as they enter the arena. The bleakness feels even worse because you know most of those characters could probably fight toe to toe with RoR gods.
So if you like the premise or isekai or crossovers, go give this story a shot. You can find it on Space Battles and AO3. I won’t say anything else because it could spoil the battles. I’ll only tag with the series I remember seeing.
And don’t forget to support the author, if you want. It’s a great story and I honestly don’t want it to get dropped. Hope this post helps spread the word!

I've been re-reading Worm and God the part starting with Coil bombing the mayoral debate and ending with the heroes coming for Taylor in school (or Noelle's death, if you're picky) is such an insane run of arcs. Just banger after banger after banger.
It's got everything; Taylor being blinded, Coil pretending to free Dinah, Taylor fighting her way out of Coil's trap, the Undersiders thinking she betrayed them, Coil finally biting the bullet and Dinah going home, and then boom! Noelle time, and everything that comes with it!
It's by far my favourite part of the book. I honestly think Gold Morning is the only thing that can compare to it. It's an absolutely insane decision to have the two cathartic things we've been building to since before Leviathan (Dinah being freed and Coil exiting stage right) happen in the middle of that shitstorm, and even more insane to make them work so well.

Your tags on the sacrificial virgin post make me want to know everything about your OCs, especially this Ivy Rose! What's Ivy Rose like? What story holds them?
ok so! Ivy Rose Lohaun is from my story Red Eyes Take Warning, which is..... a lot. it's actually an in-universe comic series in my Eldritchverse setting, and it starts out as a parody of those generic isekai mangas, before gettting Weird as the author is unknowingly long-term exposed to eldritch horrors a little bit.
I don't have any proper art of Ivy Rose but here's what I do have... most of the RETW characters were inspired by ai gen images (*BACK WHEN AI WAS A WEIRD EXPERIMENTAL TYPEA THING) so this is his
Tumblr media
and also this is an Arknights au version of him (he is not normally snakeboy)
Tumblr media
and I am still sort of figuring out his lore but what I've currently got is that he inherited some sorta really rare special powers (according to my notes he is a witch, something different from mages. but I think I'm going to make it specialer than just that) and there is some sort of curse or prophecy on his family, that anyone born with those powers will die in some circumstances, and trying to evade this always results in things going really bad (possibly involving said powers?) but the curse/prophecy/whatever is vague enough that when he transes his gender, it manages to fulfill the prophecy / neutralize the curse / whatever.
anyway most of that is kind of just background lore, his actual role in the story is that. he starts out as a 'girl' in disguise as a guy (he is closeted/eggmode at this point) and under the name Lohaun he joins Gavin's party (Gavin is the classic isekai hero guy. he's also just a massive jerk) to go adventuring and stuff and also to get away from the gilded cage of richgirl life. then he gets 'found out' as a girl (this is a trope that happens sometimes where the 'crossdressing' character gets found out and then goes back to their 'real' gender like they're fine with it. I don't like this trope very much so he's like a deconstruction or subversion or smth of it.) and briefly tries just going back to girlhood, before deciding that, actually, he'd rather be a guy. so he tries out a couple different combinations of gender terms + presentations, before eventually settling on using he/they, presenting femininely, and using his firstnames and his surname interchangeably. Gavin, being the asshole he is, at first is disappointed by Lohaun deciding to identify as a boy (because the rest* of the party is sort of harem-adjacent, as tends to happen in these isekais)but then they're like "well I'm still pretty and here so does my gender really matter that much" (they don't want him to ditch them) and so he's like "alright I guess I'm 'straight with an exception' now"
*that is, the rest of the party except for 1. Emery (too beefy for Gavin's tastes, as well as too aroace and autistic to fawn over some asshole guy) and 2. Enzo/Elodie (it is 10 years old.)

it's too late. i'm already thinking of an au where orv is one of the many isekais knw consumed and thus he has a much foggier memory of it than orv fan knw does lol
truly normal isekai fan knw... boy would be fucked ahaha. at that point, i think he'd get stuck just trying to figure things out with genre conventions. he'd get some things right, because orv does play with some common tropes, but like at some point he'd be stuck trying to apply stuff from the wrong genre to his current situation and then i guess he'd die i guess!
haha no, he'd probably survive. but i bet it'd be funny.

I've been re-watching Isekai Shokudou a lot lately again, and I've been thinking about how I never really liked Fardania and maybe that's not fair.
I'm also a fan of FE3H's Leonie Pinelli. She's so nice, reliable, clear-headed, and open-minded. But unfortunately, most of the fandom hates her, because she is competitive and antagonistic ONLY towards the player character, and the player character ONLY. For everyone else, she goes above and beyond normal consideration, and acts like it's normal and no problem to be so casually considerate and helpful to everyone.
Similarly, because Fardania acts a little bitter and passive-aggressive towards one of Nekoya's core characters, the Chef, I mostly remember her badly. But when I re-watch Isekai Shokudou more closely, she is actually more often nice to people. She's nice to her father's friend and polite to Nekoya staff. She's spoken without antagonism towards the Chef MANY times. She gently cares for Alice, and whenever she chides her, it feels more like a comedic cliche regarding the "Too Dumb To Live" trope, more than actual annoyance that the audience would be infected to feel too. Most of Fardania's screentime is actually her being enthusiastic about the food that Nekoya's Chef creates. Even though her series motivation is trying to surpass his cooking skills, she still gets a lot of screentime enjoying his food and barely much screentime being angry that his food surpassed her again.
For the longest time, positive enthusiasm has been one of my favorite character traits. Did I really miss all that, because I fell into the "Leonie-hating trap"? Usually, when I watch Isekai Shokudou, I used to skip storylines that featured Fardania. But now I find myself just letting the episode run and having a good time. I can't believe I let myself fall into the same bias that Leonie-haters fell into, when a Leonie fan should know better. I am a dumb. lol
Fardania is fine, and there are much more annoying characters doing the Rivalry trope. She's mostly just enjoying food. ^-^
