YOUR STYLE IS SO CHARMING OMGGG YOU ARE AMAZING!!😭💗💗💗💕💕💕 May I know what you draw on and what program you use???🥺🥺🥺 And how much time do you spend on one comic?😳💕💕 I'm really curious but you don't have to answer if you don't want to!! Have a nice day🥰🥰🥰
YOU ARE SO SWEET THANK YOU!! 💕💕
I’m more than happy to answer all your questions! I currently use Procreate on my iPad for all of my drawings. I used to use Clip Studio Paint on my laptop, but I decided to splurge on a new iPad last summer and needed a new art program, so I chose Procreate because I heard a lot of great things about it! I really like it and feel it’s so easy to use.
As for my comics it really depends on several factors: the length of the idea, the coloring, and my passion for the project overall! The last one can be very important as if I’m really invested and excited about an idea it can take me about 3 days to complete, one day for sketching and preliminary lineart, day two is dumping colors and finishing lineart, and day three is shading. I’d say typically on average about 5 to 7 days for a comic that’s four to six pages long! The recent one of Silver and Lilia painting took me five days, though it would’ve taken four cuz I was just lazy on one day last week and did like a text bubble and called it quits lol
The process kinda looks like this, I’ll use an upcoming Sebcroc ceremonial robes comic to show my process:
Step 1 is sketching it out to know what dialogue I want, where to place characters, making sure to make each page different so the layouts feel fresh and not dull/repeated:
Tumblr media
Step Two is actually lining everything. Usually I start with the text and text bubbles, then move on to characters. Eyes usually come last because I sometimes find them hard to draw…
Tumblr media
I would show step three, but I haven’t actually colored this one yet, but imagine the page is colored and full of life! Then I just repeat on other pages till it’s done and ready to post. Thank you for the lovely ask, hopefully I answered all your questions! 💕

heyyy I'm new to digital art, would you mind sharing some tips regarding programs and tutorials and etc? also on how to turn a real life piece into a beautiful and clean digital piece... really love your art
oh good luck with your art journey! my experience with digital art is pretty dated (as in a decade + levels dated) and i might be too out of touch to give beginner tips but regardless, allow me to attempt
Programs: it would help to know which hardware you have for digital but ill put down some i have experience in 1. Clip Studio Paint Pro - PC/Android/ipad/everywhere i think? unfortunately they betrayed humankind and its now a subscription everywhere but on PC. i bought a one-time license years years years ago on sale and its probably the best available on my end. I also got it on subscription on android so i can sync works between my PC and tablet. its very flexible in a way that you can draw with it in the most basic way single layer sketches or whatever but they have so many features and keep adding more.
2. procreate - ipad only never been an apple user but my friend is, and he's been a procreate user forever. he recently tried CSP on ipad though and he still claims he likes procreate better for ease of use and compatibility with tablet ergonomics and apple pen
3. medibang paint - pc/android/ipad
free forever. and out of all the free programs i recommended my other digital art newbie friend this is what he liked best.
4. adobe photoshop - dont even look at this the only reason i have one is im leeching off company license. its still unfortunately the industry standard tho but CSP is much cheaper and has the same controls and most of the basic functions 5. Paint Tool SAI - my first art program but i haven't tried it again. honestly still think this has the best brush flexibility and pen pressure control ----- As for tutorials, i find digital art has such a steep and high skill ceiling and its a challenge im still tackling and probably will forever tackle haha. I'm trying to osmosis painting techniques from splash art painters from League of Legends who most of them post complete timelapses (my favorite being Bo Chen) where you can study not just their techniques but like, art directions that make their pieces striking. Anyway, I also promised a friend I would make a simple coloring tutorial so maybe after inktober hustle, I would look for a piece there I'd use for the guide.
---- Traditional to digital is never a satisfactory process to me but if you can, invest on a scanner. I use an epson v39, had it for years.
Tumblr media
scanned vs edited. the goal is to at least get the white of the paper as white as possible and the blacks the blackest, without whitewashing/burning the rest of the colors. Level correction function is your best friend here and most art programs have that.
Tumblr media
Then i just clean dust and errors and slide the contrasts around until it looks as close to the original piece
If you have a decent phone camera, you can get away just posting instagram aesthetic pics with materials framing it or smth and just edit as usual. natural light tends to be a lot more forgiving than the harsh light of scanners anyway.
Tumblr media
Anyway I hope this helps and have fun learning!

Blog Post #4
Adobe Art Ownership Scandal  & Other Software
Recently, Adobe updated its terms and conditions which now claim ownership of artwork created with their software . This has ignited a significant debate among digital artists and designers. Theo Browne, a well-known figure in the programming community and professional user of Adobe products for this, has been particularly vocal about this issue. In his recent video, Browne argues that Adobe's policy undermines artists' and designers' rights by claiming ownership of their creative work. He is particularly concerned about section 42 of the current Adobe Terms and Conditions which grants Adobe ‘a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, and distribute user content.'
It has been widely understood that any work you post online now can be ‘harvested’ by generative AI to train it and use inspiration (or even manipulations of) for the creation of art for other’s prompts. However with these terms and conditions even work that you never post online or upload from your computer could be used without any compensation or knowledge. He suggests Affinity designer as an alternative which has far less ‘invasive’ terms and conditions as well as a more favorable pricing model.
Other potential software that I could consider would be software like Clip Studio Paint (which I have used in the past) or Corel painter. Procreate is also exceptional for concept art but is limited to mobile devices.
Although other artists have made some great work in these alternative software present attractive options, transitioning from Adobe Photoshop would require a significant investment of time. This is in addition to  developing skills in Maya, Substance 3D Painter and Unreal Engine 5 which enable me to create art further down the production pipeline than digital painting alone.

BakaPandy’s FAQ
Hi, I’m Pandy, welcome to my tumblr! I thought I’d make a little post about me and some frequently asked questions I get. Please read this before sending me an ask!
ABOUT ME
Who are you?
I’m BakaPandy, but you can call me Pandy! Pronouns are she/her/hers. I’m 27 years old and I draw for fun or whatever catches my fancy.
Where are you from?
USA
Do you draw professionally?
No, I draw as a hobby. I work in the medical field.
(While I’m glad people are interested in what I do, I’d rather if you don’t ask me questions about it as I would like to keep my professional life private and separate from fandom)
How did you come up with your username?
I was a 11 yo weeb in the 2000s - early 2010s where everything had “baka” or “kawaii” or “sugoi”, etc. The name bakapandy stuck from way back then and has become a bit of a brand and changing it is just too much effort.
How can I support you as an artist?
I have a Ko-Fi!
Reblogs are always the best. And feel free to comment! I love reading comments, replies, and tags. They always make my day.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to take commissions, but I do appreciate any sort of support!
ABOUT MY ART
Do you take commissions or requests?
Currently, no. Since I have limited time to draw because of school, I’d prefer to spend it drawing something that I want to draw. I do read suggestions and ideas if they end up in my inbox but I can not promise that I will draw it.
Where did you learn to draw?
I’m self-taught. Lots and lots of admiring other people’s work and practicing a ton.
When did you start drawing/How long have you been drawing?
I’ve loved to draw all my life, but I got invested when I was about 10 when I truly dedicated time and effort into improving. So I guess it’s going on 17 years now.
What do you use to draw?
I use an 11in iPad pro, apple pencil, and Clip Studio Paint iOS
I’ve previously used a Wacom intuos, but switched over to the ipad pretty much exclusively a couple years ago
Can I use your art for my profile pic?
You can use my art for icons, phone and desktop wallpapers for YOUR OWN USE ONLY without asking me, though I’d really appreciate if you’d credit me if you use it in a public domain.
Can I share your artwork on other sites?
No, please don’t repost my artwork anywhere else. You can always link to my blog or the page of the drawing (if there’s a thumbnail involved that automatically generated, then that’s fine), BUT PLEASE DON’T RE-UPLOAD ANYTHING. Share my work with whatever function is given to you on the site (reblogs for Tumblr, retweets for Twitter, etc.) so that it comes DIRECTLY FROM ME. I really appreciate your cooperation for this.
Can I translate your work?
The ONLY exception I make for reposting my artwork is for translation purposes. I don’t require you to ask me, but I would you appreciate it if you did. I’d also love to see it!
PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE MY SIGNATURE AND PLEASE CREDIT ME AS THE ARTIST AND AUTHOR IF YOU DO.
Where else can I find your art?
I have a Twitter and Instagram
FANDOM RELATED
Will you ever draw Free!/sourin again?
Honestly, I don’t know. I loved Free! and SouRin for so long but my creative energy for them fizzled out and I just don’t have anymore ideas...maybe when I finally see Final Stroke, I’ll make something?
Who are your favorite Naruto characters?
In case you couldn’t tell from my art content, I love the Sand-Nara family. Gaara has always been my favorite since I was in middle school.
Who do you ship with Gaara?
No one. I headcanon him as aro/ace.
What do you think about Gaara ships?
They’re not my cup of tea but people can ship what they want. Go live your best lives.
What about Boruto ships?
I don’t ship the kids. I just like them all being cute and friends.
Recently, though, I got into Konohamaru X Log lmao.
Please note that Log is an adult and I consider him separate person to Mitsuki. I do not ship or endorse KonoM*itsu in any way, shape, or form. They are not the same people and have entirely different personalities.
Do you have ANY ships in Naruto?
Pretty much only ShikaTema is the one I’m the most invested in. I follow along with the canon ships (e.g. NaruHina, SasuSaku, ChoKarui) but I have no particularly strong feelings for or against them.
Other ships I enjoy in passing: KakaGai, NejiTen, SaiIno, NejiLee
Do you have a Naruto OC?
I have one OC and her name is Kotori, and she’s Shinki’s daughter haha. She’s a joint OC with my friend @bichobolitagaarashusband
Usually though, I prefer to stick to canon characters, relationships, and dynamics
Do you not like Naruto OCs?
They typically don’t really interest me so I don’t really engage with them. But people can do what they want and I’m not going to criticize them for it. I have Kotori and tbh I really only interact with one OC mostly bc he belongs to my friend haha

“The Green Trees”
I know it's been quite some time since this squiggly 3D wizard made a new post on here and there is a good reason for that.
As I've been more focused on work these days with my current job, I decided to take a break from personal 3D projects; instead investing my newfound free time to take a second stab at learning Unreal Engine (particularly Version 4.26 since that’s the one that works best for me).
The last time I worked with UE4, I was forced to begrudgingly abandon it due to trouble with the program running on my current computer. Since then, I've upgraded my laptop a bit---it's not much but it's enough to make UE4 run a bit more smoothly for me.
Because of this, I decided to resume learning UE4 as I would very much love to use it in my workflow.
While I am in no ways an environment painter, having come from an illustrative background, it has been a (long time) goal of mine to marry my digital art skills with my 3D modeling; using 3D as a tool for design in my work; particularly when it comes to props and environments. Here are some screenshots from a UE4 test scene that I recently made in addition to some art that I created from said test scene.  They're not much but I am quite proud of how they turned out and wished to share them on here. ---
Tools Used: Maya 2020.4 | Treeit | Clip Studio Paint Pro | Photoshop 2021 | Unreal Engine 4.26

Ayo! I'm a digital artist and I'm looking for brushes and was wondering, what do You use to draw?
OOH ok i use Clip Studio Paint which is a very worthwhile investment (especially if you get it on sale for half price) because it has a ton of stuff in it, so if you don't have that i highly recommend it
as for specific brushes i use this fella for lines:
Tumblr media
i use the basic pen tool to block out colors and the gouache brush for shading and blending :]
ALSO for lineart i learned a fun thing very recently: duplicate your line art layer and gaussian blur one of those layers, mess around with opacity and color. may not be for everyone but i personally love how it makes my lines look:

hot take photoshop's the literal worst for drawing and painting (seriously I struggled with art when I was using photoshop and clip studio changed my life lmao)
oh MOOD. i used pirated ps cc15 for as long as I can remember bc Photoshop's subscription model is SUCH a rip off I didn't bother investing any money in it. it's only recently I bought csp and. it changed EVERYTHING abt my approach to art and drawing and it feels so organic like painting on traditional paper esp w the gouache brush its so intuitive and user friendly as well! CANNOT recommend csp enough. once you get csp you realize Photoshop is the horsepiss to CSP's hot chocolate & marshmellows.
cannot recommend CSP to ppl enough it's only a one time purchase and it has such a huge assets and tools database created by artists themselves to help you draw better it's honestly my go to art program I love csp so much <3

March update
Hello Friends,
No beating around the bush, I am a fragile mess, these days. Trying to be brave, after facing some really rough challenges.. We won't touch any of those topics for a while. Let's just say, I'm a Hermit with baggage & a fucked up life - but who isn't?
Been searching for the right job for a long time now... That's finally ended. I haven't officially started, so I don't want to blog about it yet - out of worry that I'll jinx it. In the meantime, I have been making plans and getting things accomplished that have been on the back burner.
Trying to make goals for an unpredictable future... What else is there to say?..
It's wild - At this point, I'm not even worried about being broke. I've been there, done that. A couple of times, actually. It's safe to say, I will find a way to survive.
As the self admitting Leech that I am. Which is something that my inner child had to face recently... You see, I've always had someone to rely on - a safety net. It's a fortunate thing & I am so grateful. However - It's time for me to start relying on myself. Being accountable & making sacrifices that other have made for me. It's time to stop being a Hermit & try again.
I don't want to survive the way a Leech does anymore. I'm glad that I've gone through this discovery. I will be brave & try to do this for myself. Especially because it's what I want & I am the only one in this Life who is going to fight as hard as she can to make it happen.
Right now, I'm at the library, so I can use their Wifi - One of the sacrifices to our budget, this month, was our internet. Really daunting how much we take comfort for granted, sometimes. I enjoy reading & have been doing that more, instead of looking for something to watch on Youtube - like, I have to really search these days, too... Ugh.
However, I do miss using CSP.. Something I should have done while we could afford it was invest in the program, instead of renting it monthly. I have been renting Clip Studio Paint for over 6 months now & I know I'll be using it for a long time to come. When I can afford it again, I'll be purchasing it. It's such an amazing program.
In the meanwhile, I downloaded Blender... So I will be overcoming my anxiety of 3D design/modelling this month. I will be starting off with a donut, so I can learn how to use this program.
I think that's all I have for this week... Hunger is saying 'let's wrap this up & go home'.
Have a good weekend, Y'all!

do you think that csp is worth the cost? how different is it from photoshop, and do u think it was tough to understand how to use it? or simply, do you like it? im just asking since im too afraid to dole out $50 for it and want to avoid the potential Buyer's Remorse
in general : yes absolutely. it comes with so many features that honestly changed my art for the better and streamlined my drawing process. also it’s so much more affordable in comparison to a cc subscription (unless you have an older version of ps or you 🏴‍☠️’d it) and there are frequent sales that happen for it, especially around the holidays.
however, i do miss a few features from photoshop. i think csp isn’t as strong with its text settings, which is a major weakness for me since i do a lot of graphic design and frequently deal with typography. plus in the recent update they added the feature to transfer photoshop brushes from ps into csp and that was really super cool but the settings are still a bit wonky and don’t emulate photoshop’s brushes super accurately (though this may be remedied in a future update). there are probably some other minor features in ps that aren’t available in csp but i don’t really use them enough to give you an in-depth explanation on that.
clip studio paint does have a bit of a learning curve at first since you’re kind of thrown into this program without much explanation of all the features; the amount of tools they have can be daunting at first ! but it functions basically the same as photoshop and every other art program and the extra bits are there for you to explore at your own pace. there’s a ton of free resources for csp too, ranging from user-made tutorials on the site and the official youtube channel (here’s a fun video on how csp literally has an option for you to color within the lines super easily) to the huuuuuuge collection of free assets on the store. the asset store is literally my favorite tbh because you have access to all these materials (gradient sets, brushes, textures, effects, etc) from other artists all around the world and all you have to do is click download. there’s a ton more benefits to csp that are out there but my brain is kind of fried rn so i might have to add onto this later lmfao
but overall i think csp is worth the investment way more than ps is! i’ve used a few different art programs and csp comes out on top every time. would definitely recommend it and i dont think you would regret the purchase at all

Hi, I might sound a little dumb and you might've answered these kinds of questions before, but I've been wanting to move into digital art a bit more and I dont know where to start. What programs do you use and do you have any suggestions for a good tablet to start out with? Any tips for beginners? Sorry if this is dumb, I really dont want to waste your time or anything, but I really love your art and you seem like you'd have good advice
This is not dumb at all it is super overwhelming to try and get started. I’ve been using the 4th gen 12.9 in iPad Pro to ease off the eye strain and to expand the internal memory, but I’ve still kept my smaller 2017 iPad Pro cuz it’s just as good but it’s just smaller and I brought it with me when I travelled. However, I can’t use the smaller iPad all the time cuz when I worked on detailed paintings it really really fucked up my eyes
Both of the tablets were huge investments for me that ended up being really worth it only cuz I knew how I would get use out of them. So unless u have the coin and u want a solid tablet that could almost replace a laptop, DONT buy the newest largest iPad Pro. But take a look if u can find somewhere the 2017 iPad Pro for a decent price cuz if u can that is a very decent place to start but also consider the price of the Apple Pencil (and keyboard and such). I can’t comment on how the other iPads work cuz at the time the 1st gen pencil was only compatible with the pro line
However if u really don’t want to use an iPad, definitely have a look at the Samsung tablets. I’ve personally not used them but I keep seeing good thing about them from mutuals on twitter. Another thing to consider if u can’t get either yet u can always use ur phone to make scribbles and thumbnail paintings on apps (that I’ll talk about now)
With programs there is a plethora of things u can start with. When I just got back into digital art I used Adobe sketch which is a free app that is very limited in its capabilities but I think for just doodling it works just fine. For painting I used medi bang which is also free and quite a bit more advanced, but it has ads all over the place. I will definitely definitely recommend getting procreate, it’s what I use most of the time and it’s fantastic for the one off tiny price and it has so many features it’s just *chefs kiss* and u can use it on ur phone so 🤷‍♂️ then there is also clip studio paint... with which I had a recent row so.... I won’t recommend it for some who is just getting into digital art, at all, but take a peep into the features if u are curious
To sum up: an iPad is an investment so consider how else u use it and u don’t have to get the newest model, just one with a decent amount of memory. Samsung tablets are also a very good option. If neither are an option for u right now, ur phone is also a very good mini tablet. I’ll 100% recommend getting procreate if u don’t mind spending a little on the app

I want to get into art, but I don't know where to start or what art program to use. Any suggestions/advice?
oooo 🤔👀👀🤩🤩 I don’t know what technology you have available (pc, mac, phone, tablet, etc) and im not sure if you have a graphics tablet already! I can only speak for software for pc so that’s what i’ll talk about ^^
I started with firealpaca way back in like 2013 :o That one is just free so it’s a great choice if you wanna get art software the legal way and not spend a lot of money lol i went into it recently again and i noticed they’ve added a bunch of new functionality in there (some that even the software i use right now doesnt have :o) So it’s definitely worth a try!
After that I moved to Paint Tool SAI. This one costs money though (unless you... you know 👀👀👀)  I stuck to that one for a few years and it served my purposes :) I currently use Paint Tool SAI 2 which has a few more features added in. You also have to pay for this one but if you want it, hit me up in the dms 👀
Photoshop definitely has a big learning curve if you haven't had experience with Adobe software before, but it can be really powerful once you get to know it. There’s a few places to get a cracked version of photoshop online, but be careful if you go looking aksjdhf make sure you have antivirus and a vpn ideally :0 I might be able to help you out with it if you’re interested with trying photoshop too :)
There is other software you can try but i can’t tell you much about them since i havent tried them myself.  :o
Krita is another free software! can’t really tell you much more than that though, sorry 😂
I have other friends who use Clip Studio! This one also costs money, but from what I understand, the investment is worth it if you wanna use all the tools it provides!
In summary, you’re more than free to send me a dm and we can chat a little better about this hopefully ^^ ♥♥♥ i would love to help you out more :D

Hey! First of all, I love your art; it is so beautiful! Secondly, in one of your posts you said it would take some time to get used to procreate, just wondering what you were using before?
Thank you so much!! I had previously been using Clip Studio Paint (and still will continue using this program) until I recently was able to invest in an iPad so I’m currently experimenting in procreate!

hi !! random question but i was wondering what free apps you would suggest to beginners for art ??? been thinkin abt making a twst oc and jun has me so inspired 🥺🥺
hello! it makes me happy that jun has inspired you ajsjdjd 😭
hm, if you’re asking about drawing programs, i don’t really know of any that are free unless you find ripped/pirated versions of them online, which admittedly is what i did when i first got a tablet back in high school. i eventually did get the paid versions of the programs though, which are completely worth the investment in my opinion, so i do recommend getting them if you’re able to afford them!
i currently mainly use Sai2 for drawing (i originally bought the previous version, Paint Tool Sai, for about $45, and was able to download Sai2 for free with the license thing that came with PTS) and i still love using the program, as it was easier for me to learn to work with when i first started drawing digitally! if i remember correctly though, you can download a free trial of Sai (with limited features) for about a month(??) so you can try it out for yourself to see if you like it.
i also use Clip Studio Paint for a variety of things i can’t do in Sai, like textures, patterns, adding text, screentones, etc.! CSP is more pricey than Sai, but it’s currently 50% off and they have these sorts of sales often, so i would grab it when given the chance!!! using the program is a bit of a learning curve (i, too, am still learning how to use csp sksjjf), but it comes with a lot of great features and assets so being able to get all that for 50% off is a really good deal if you ask me.
if you have an ipad and apple pencil, you can try looking into procreate! i don’t have experience with using it since i don’t have a recent generation of the ipad or an apple pencil but procreate is like, $10 and many people seem to like the app a lot!
sorry i don’t have any suggestions that are free, but i hope this could be of some help at all, bc again, i do think the investment is worth it! 💦 i wish you luck with your art!!!

Improvement Post
My art progress is really really long since 2015 the first time I existed on internet.
Here's my OC Vadim Trifonov, he's a FSB Spetsgruppa Alpha "A" operative with rank of Captain.
He exists since 2016 as a RP OC when I was a wee lil 15 years old kid and really interested in spy movies like TMFU 2015 and James Bond.
He's really special to me because he came to me through a dream. I saw a man looking like how I draw him telling his name was Vadim Trifonov, and he was a really gentle, kind and selfless man.
He also gave me some sort of comfort and coping as well so he's really special to me. One of reason why I just don't end myself, is who will finish writing about him and edit it out.
Here we will see the progress of it!
September 2020 - Digital Art (Latest)
It took me like 4-5 hours to draw this considering I don't use line art and have to fix it by painting over and over.
I also got the hang of painting digitally due to experimenting with acrylics and poster paints and reading tutorials.
Russian friends are also helping with sending me images or Russian handbooks and sites to see so his uniform isn't all that inaccurate. I usually don't draw ranks because it's really small and like how friends said, "Yuri spends 10 hour on the face and shading and then just fuck it on minor details," which was true on this matters ahhahaha.
Tumblr media
July 2020 - Pixel Art
One of the stills from How Unfortunate art and it's really nice besides how meme material it is (Vadim's forced smile and lenny face like expressions). It's intentionally shaded only in two colours because I don't like being a fussy wussy animating things and to show dark-light in rather not eye hurting way and I use darker line art compared to usual way I do (use a lighter tone of brown/darker or orangey one) so his expressions would be easily seen.
Tumblr media
May 2020 - Watercolour
I'm really invested in FSB and Chekist stuff so his uniform is correct for now and I like how abstract it is.
I also got my watercolour style and I really like lining with brush now.
Tumblr media
January 2020 - Pixel Art
First time getting into pixel art thanks to Russian and Ukrainian and Texan friend telling me to do it. I forgot there's a tool to yknow, line the shit outta it and circle tool. So that's why it looks so thicc. It's also blurry because that's the first time I learn to resize pixel art.
Tumblr media
2019 - Digital
I got into modern militaria stuff (never a fan of modern tanks and ships tho but I like the planes and soldiers) and here's Vadim with slightly accurate tactical gear.
I haven't done much digital due to how time consuming it is for reasons.
Tumblr media
November 2018 - Watercolour
When I didn't get to art club I just actually put him somewhere. I want to retain his secret service stuff and I don't wanna change much of his bio so I just put him as "FSB" even the uniform wasn't really that accurate.
I also recently studied anatomy more and prefer slightly realistic facial feature because I was quite into Shoujo animes and KyoAni styled stuff and it only helps with lining thinly.
Tumblr media
2018 - Digital Art
First digital rendition of Vadim? It used Paint Tool Sai which also I just don't like it for some reason (I prefer Clip Studio Paint like what I'm using currently due to basic tools are already good and Photoshop for larger images and edits since brushes there are good too?)
It's blurry because it's for Tapas.io title image so it's small and the first rendition of my current art style (the no line art painting) and look how I attempted my current semi realist stuff hahahha.
Tumblr media
2016 - Watercolor
He was listed as RP OC of an Art Club thingy (you know like Daisuki Club). Also yes I was anime artist fight me.

2016 - Concept Sketch of Vadim, (image dated 2017, but it's literally older than the 2016 watercolor)
Below was sketched after I had the dream and I was just thinking about it.

Hello! How are you? I hope you are doing well ☺ i had a question for you! I want to get into digital drawing, but I don't have a tablet, and honestly not much money either HAHA. Do you have any recommendations on what type of tablets I should be looking at? Or even some tips? I would really appreciate it! Your art is amazing
hi!! i can tell you personally what i’ve been through if that will help!  sorry, i get super into these things!!! lol so this is gonna be long, sip some water and grab a snack lol
i started digitally drawing in 2005 on ms paint with just a mouse haha.. and it wasn’t until maybe like 2009 i got a wacom bamboo fun tablet! which isn’t the kind with a display. I got it for like, $60-70CAD at the time, at one point had to replace it but it was still the same style of tablet.. and i had been drawing with it for over a decade! I was using ms paint but at some point i switched over to adobe’s flash (like an old version that i was able to get for free) and then paint tool SAI (which i got a “portable” version of... aka pirated lmao) anyways, wacom is on the pricier side but ive heard many great things about the brand huion? they’re a cheaper alternative and i believe they’re just as good! you definitely should watch some youtube videos about them though! so many of my friends (who are just casual artists, or just starting out!) just bit the bullet and got huion branded stuff and they love it so far.
however, some people have come up to me about how they can’t seem to fathom drawing without looking at their hand, so they opt for display tablets. this is where even ipads and other mobile tablets can come into play to. so i bought my display tablet, an old wacom cintiq, secondhand, just like, 2 yrs ago and i love it so much and i totally understand why people would rather skip the regular tablet “phase” and go straight into display tablets. it’s pretty much the closest thing to putting pen to paper except, digitally! but it is EXTREMELY pricey! you’re essentially buying a powered monitor lol depending on the sizes and brand, it can go anywhere between $300-2500! im going to mention huion again bc, yup!! very good alternative, more affordable brand! now if you’re thinking mobile tablets, i just recently got myself the samsung tab s6 lite, it’s a good mid-tier price and they support many other drawing programs and recently they released clip studio paint (what i use) for android and its fine so far! there’s many other mobile drawing software out there too, i suggest looking up on youtube as well as i cant seem to recall the names lol. but honestly, i only ever use it if i wanted to draw digitally on the go lol. this is very privileged of me. i know a lot of artists solely use their ipads and procreate, which i get why it’s so amazing but literally like that post i reblogged had said, it doesn’t matter what you have, it’s how you use it!!
currently i use clip studio paint as my software, but i bought it (on sale!! it goes on sale a few times a year) lol after i started making a stable income (again i feel very blessed) i also got SAI officially hahaha. i literally don’t know how to use photoshop properly :’D GIMP is a free drawing program, i think it reminds me of photoshop though so i didn’t really use it much. I actually haven’t gone around looking at any other drawing software, as i just keep advertising CSP to my friends and they also bought it.. so i would once again resort to youtube for that lol but i love CSP bc they have built in 3d models you can pose!! lol and backgrounds and other assets you can download, etc... when it’s on sale i goes down i think to 70? maybe less, i can’t recall. i don’t wanna advocate uh.. “portable” versions but uh... there’s that option too ;) (not sure if CSP has it but i think SAI’s is around somewhere on the internet...)
in the end, it really is an investment if it’s something you want to hone!! huion is something you should definitely look into and if you want to keep doing it in the long run, you can upgrade much later! I would say, if you can somehow test how well you can do with a non-display tablet, i would just go with that for budget purposes. if it wasn’t for my impulsive nature, i probably wouldve stuck with a non-display for a very long time lol.
oh also this is me assuming you have a laptop or a computer, if you’re running solely on mobile then an ipad alternative would be the samsung s6 tab lite, or anything similar, esp if you’re just going to be using it for drawing!
im so sorry this is so long LMAO my INFP ass just wants to be as helpful as i can... TLDR: try huion! LOL and trial versions of drawing programs!! to see which you feel more comfortable with hehe
