So sometimes when I don’t feel like drawing an actual drawing, or feel art blocked, I usually make a doodle/sketch page, where I draw whatever that comes to hand with a blank mind, or just try different coloring techniques and styles
Anyway this page that’s I’ve made for HGS have been filled, and it was fun drawing in it and coloring these characters, usually my doodle pages are more doodle like, but I felt like I should post something so here to go
All of these are characters in the show with slight differences in design and some headcanons of mine sprinkled in and I think I did nice on some of these doodle

And here's the Reboot version of Rosemary!! Unfortunately no Sage for the puppet versions, but there is a Sage for the human ones! :D I'll show you guys soon ;3
But yeah, here's the gorl!! A shorty lil rabbit full of energy, sass, and focus, with the mind and mouth of a steel trap! She very much plays on the "#girlboss" vibes of the early 2000s, but I think she pulls it off -w- Also! She's a fashion designer in this AU! She mostly started out just making clothes for herself (cause she smol lmao its either make clothes or scour the toddlers' section XD) but gradually grew to making all sorts of clothing for all sorts of puppets! Julie and Frank would probably be the two who use her services most, I think -- Julie just cause the two of them will make the most outlandish, awesome outfits known to puppetkind, and Frank because Rosie can help them design some really nice androgynous outfits that they like -w- Also maybe Sally, for costumes.
I've got a bunch more doodles for this that I'm working on, I'll be sharing them soon! So keep an eye out ;3
The Reboot AU is by @bloodrediscream!! Check out their works, they've got a lot of really pretty art for a bunch of different really cool media :3

Virtual Character Tourney - Round 2 - Bracket 1 - 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda below (May contain spoilers!)
Sage propaganda:
I just know she's a weirdgirl. I know it.
She's an AI who becomes more human over the course of the game. Plus she develops a father daughter relationship with Eggman that's really cute.
She's an AI created by Dr. Eggman, she has excellent control over Cyber Space, and gained command of the robots & guardians of Starfall Islands
Dot Matrix propaganda:
ReBoot takes place on the Net in CyberSpace and everything is very virtual in a 90s computers-way. Dot is the character I chose to submit because Tumblr loves the ladies.

AZURE, MONKEY KING, MACAQUE AND NE'ZHA FINDING OUT THAT YOU ARENT REALLY THAT INNOCENT!?
MADE BY: HEXOLOGH
Tumblr media
AZURE
Azure was totally caught off guard by your dirtiness... Wait, I mean your impressive level of confidence! I mean, seriously, just take a good look at yourself! You had this innocent facade going on, but deep down, you unleashed a dominant aura that sent shivers down his spine.
Will and want you to pound him into the ground, fuck him until he's holding onto you for dear life.. woah.. slow down satan.. 😟
Dang, whenever you playfully laid your hand on his thigh, it was like an electric shock racing down Azure's spine. But hey, it wasn't fear that got him all worked up, oh no! It was pure, unadulterated excitement.
He willingly signed up for the 'No Walking Challenge' because, with you around It's gonna be a wild ride and Azure is ready to embrace the thrill!
Imagine edging him. he'd definitely let you do it, But also imagine tying his wrists together and doing it back. he finds it hard to hold back..
And Legs? Pfft, overrated! Azure would put on a brave face, claiming he could handle anything.
But when the heat turned up, he'd be a sobbing mess, begging you to stop (not that he really meant it, wink wink).
And let's not forget his poor brothers! Azure would concoct the wildest excuses to skip out on missions, but it seems like his excuse generator is in desperate need of a reboot.
Time to find some fresh alibis, my friend! So, check it out, Azure lion, the ultimate definition of lowkey, was just, like, mad quiet at the diner table, you feel me? But he took it up a notch, like he was on stealth mode or something.
And, yo, imagine this—there he was, straight-up whimpering as your hands did their magic. It was a total mood, for real! I mean, it was so hilarious, like you couldn't help but ROFL at how completely and utterly pathetic he was in that moment. It's like next-level comedy gold.
"Hng, mhn~....ngh..!" Azure murmured as you gazed at him, raising a hand and placing it on your cheek while your other hand did the work.
"What's wrong?" you questioned, tilting your head back and your eyes shone.
"Cat got your tongue?"
SUN WUKONG
Oh, let's dive into the Monkey King's struggles!
I mean, this guy is the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, for crying out loud! He's all about power and not taking any nonsense.
But, hey, when you cast your gaze upon him, Like, he's low-key simping so hard, it's hilarious! Who would've thought the mighty Monkey King could be reduced to a puddle of mush? Love makes us all do crazy things, doesn't it?
Monkey King, surprisingly enough, finds pleasure in your roughness, reveling in the intensity and passion it brings. Equally, he adores the tenderness and warmth you show him, finding solace and security in your gentle touch.
It's a beautiful balance that makes him feel safe and cherished in your arms... As you demolished his insides ❤️
Bro like fuck him until his insides are the shape of your strap/dick or whatever.
Oh, let's spill the tea on the Monkey King! Here's the deal: He despises having to beg and bow down to you, or so he claims.
But guess what? Secretly, deep in the depths of his mischievous heart, he absolutely adores it! It's like he's caught in a love-hate battle, but the truth is, he's head over heels for the thrill of submitting to your power.
"o-Oh!... fu-fucK...ngh!" Sun Wukong moaned and groaned, he could almost feel tears rolling down his face, loving the way your fingers went deep within him.
"Look at how pathetic you are," you say as he flushed in embarrassment, his eyes closing shut and turned his head away.
Sun Wukong gasped before letting out another moan as your other hand seized his chin with force.
"Keep your gaze on the mirror."
MACAQUE
When he found out, oh... Brace yourself for Macaque's wild desires! This guy thrives on rough play, even going as far as enjoying being stepped on.
But let's not forget his mischievous side! Picture this: you're in the midst of work, and Macaque is right there, incessantly poking your head, like an annoying but lovable sidekick.
He's a handful, that's for sure, HE IS SO ANNOYING 😭
Like, "mommy issues?", "Daddy issues?" NO, HE IS THE ISSUE 👹😠
But alas you love him, CUZ YOUR A SIMP, But me too bbg 🖐️☺️
He's laying on the ground, his hips stuttering pathetically as he whines, gripping at your leg and pleading with you to keep walking on him, to release this overpowering need to cum.
Macaque, the lovable troublemaker with a heart full of love! Despite his antics, he adores you with every fiber of his being and isn't shy about showing it.
But here's the twist: when you unleash your power and reveal your true strength, it catches him off guard.
Well, he probably should have seen it coming! I mean, it's you we're talking about—the unstoppable force that commands attention wherever you go.
But like I mean, Slay queen/king 💅Get ready for Macaque's wide-eyed surprise, mixed with pure admiration, as you unleash your might upon the world!
And Slowly breaking him? He loved it, fucking him so good that every time he's in your presence for the next several days, his mind instantly returns to that day, his dick throbs at the sheer sight of you.
"haha.." you chuckled.
"Hah.. Hng! S-ShIt!" Macaque moaned aloud as your hands stroked his cock as the other hand pinched his nipples as tears roll down his cheek.
"Awh, did I hurt your feelings?"
NE'ZHA
HUH? WHERE DID THIS COME FROM!? WHO ARE YOU!? BRING HIM BACK HIS LOVER! 😠
My guy thought he had it all figured out, expecting to be the dominant force in the relationship. But, nope! UNO REVERSE BITCH! his expectations shattered when you swooped in and stole his spotlight! Though.. not that he minds being pushed down on the bed harshly as you literally rearrange his guts.
Ne'zha is the type that loves to try different and dirty things. so don't be surprised if one day he asks you to choke the living life out of him, like there he is officer, The horny 😧
Has a preference for being praised over being degraded, childhood trauma am I right? This man is 100000000000% a good boy <3
Tbh he would jack off right infront of you if you commanded him too, slut of the month, right here.
He'll never forget that day when he was talking to a maiden who seemed.. really interested in him.. more like his body.. I mean this guy probably wears things that are real tight, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE IS TIGH-- Okay I'll stop 😔
Anyways, He could practically feel your eyes glaring at him, and that's when he knew, he's so fucked, EVERYONE POINT AND LAUGH 😂
"Come on.. you can take more, right? You aren't the third lotus prince for nothing.." you murmured as your fingers gently wrinkled Ne'zha's chest up to down, as the vibrator in his ass works it's magic ✨
"C-CanT- No.. Hng, Can't anymore.. nghh!~" Nezha could feel the ropes tighten on his exposed skin, you frowned as you put a finger under his chin, forcing him look up at you, his weeping eyes looking at your disappointed ones.
"How utterly pathetic you are.."

I have been violently gripped with the idea of a CODxAC Crossover, where Ghost and the 141 stumbling across an Isu facility. They spread out to search the ruins and Ghost ends up in a vast open room containing pods. There are hundreds of them in neat rows, but only one seem to contain something. Infant twins bearing the numbers 16 and 17 on their right and left shoulder respectively. On the side of the pod there is some text carved into the metal itself. '16=Clay 17=Desmond. TRUST ONLY 141'. Reading it gives Ghost a deep chill. Before he can think further on it, the pod starts to empty and open. The kids open their eyes and stare at him with eyes he swears glow, but in a blink it's gone. Must have been his imagination. The place suddenly rumbles and his radio comes to life.
"Ghost, get out of there! Think we might have activated a self destruct sequence!"
Before he can think too hard about it, Ghost grabs the kids and starts running while chunks of the ceiling falls down around him. Strangely enough the kids don't make any noise at the rough treatment or the violent shaking and noise.
---------
So yeah, thanks to Saberamane, i have gotten into reading CoD fanfics. XD I remembered your fic on it and then i was just violently gripped with the image of a baby Desmond reaching his little hands up at Ghost and when he holds Desmond up to his face, the baby just places his hands on the mask and stares at it while smiling. Anytime anyone, besides 141, tries to take Desmond or Clay they start to fuss and/or scream bloody murder, so the gangs kinda stuck baby sitting. Well, more like Ghost with Soap's help. Price is busy trying to figure out why the General(idk enough about the lore, so unnamed General it is XD) is really interested in taking the kids. They lied about them being found inside the pods and said they found the dead body of a woman with the kids, so the interest in them is strange. Plus the ominous message written in the pod seems important. Ghost hates him, gets a strange sense of... Red??? from him.
So yeah, another hyperfixation it is. XD
If this is the reboot, he started as Lieutenant General and ends up as a General. In the OG though, Shepherd was Lieutenant General until his death.
We can set it up that Desmond and Clay are testtube babies Elijah created but Abstergo was hot on his tail so he ‘tipped off’ 141 of the location and lying of its connection to a secret terrorist organization.
Well…
It wasn’t necessary a lie because 141 is trying to find the Brotherhood. In the eyes of the world, the Brotherhood is a terrorist organization and 141 is tasked with finding their operations and stopping them.
In this one, Shepherd could either be a Templar, an ally of the Templar or (use the setup of The Shadow’s Endgame) a disillusioned Assassin gone rogue.
He doesn’t immediately clocked the babies Ghost took in as Desmond and Clay. Hell, Ghost knows well enough not to officially call them Desmond and Clay, instead going nicknames like ‘D’ and ‘C’. Soap and Gaz had been calling them different names to try and find out their actual names and they haven’t hit any jackpot yet.
Shepherd is interested in taking in the kids because he learned that the facility they attacked (which was nearby the supposed village that got wiped out during the operation) was Elijah’s secret lab.
Although they all believe Elijah to be dead so the place is actually for an unknown ‘third party’.
Abstergo believed that person is the current Sage, having awakened Aita’s memories after Elijah’s death.
So the question becomes why did Elijah decide to entrust Desmond and Clay to 141?
Because he was planning to infiltrate 141 later on.
As the new recruit of 141: Gary "Roach" Sanderson

We already established that Macaque is going to wear something cute for the dinner date that's going to knock Wukong's shoes off. But what about the dinner itself? Would Macaque be holding Wukong's hand (just for show, of course)? Would he bump his leg against Wukong's under the table (oh, how clumsy of him)? Would Macaque eat just a little messier than he usually would so he could find the excuse to lick the remnants from his lips and his fingers (gotta enjoy every crumb and remnant sauce since it's rare for Macaque to get expensive food that he didn't steal)?
Or would he do none of that and still be stared at by Wukong since he's wearing that dress and eating the food Wukong provided bought for him?
I want the monkey man to be pathetic and down bad for every little thing Macaque does. I need him to be salivating even though he has a full plate in front of him.
And - oh, would you look at that - an excuse for Macaque to lightly scold the Great Sage for wasting food and start feeding it to him. Macaque's trying to be mocking but Wukong ends up enjoying it a little too much.
OH MY GOD BERRRYYYYY IM BRAINROTTING SO HARD RN THINKING ABOUT THEM LIKE
The way I see it is that Macaque at first is acting normal but as more people stare, the more he plays up his role as a demon being courted by the great sage himself. Like when they're walking to dinner, not only are they holding hands but Macaque is straight up cuddling Wukong's arm and Wukong is just brain.exe failing to reboot and Wukong thinks it's gonna get easier when they eat but no it gets worse. Macaque is a lil seductive temptress with his leg slowly riding up Wukong's leg, licking sauce from his fingers, and just ajdjfjfjjsje Wukong is not doing well. He can't even eat without choking

tbh my biggest gripes with totk is the fact that they did it beginner friendly new comer friendly... like i know this is gonna sound mean but genuinely I wish it didn't try to cater to new fans who want to get into tloz cause totk's story failed cause it needed to cater to new zelda fans
idc abt the lore getting rebooted, sure im going to miss the triforce being an essential piece of the story and lore, only to become the Hylian symbol and game's logo (which tbh is strange its like pokemon using the pokeball as their logo/symbol but pokeballs becoming obsolete in new pkmn games). But because it wanted to be new comer friendly botw's story and lore aspects are long gone and only to be referred to as easter eggs to ppl who played botw know. When characters talk about things that happened in botw as if it was a long time ago like the attack of the Calamity 100 years ago but things that actually happened a very long time ago make it sound like its pretty recent.
I don't like how the new sages just don't remember the champions at all. If you get the divine beast helms through sidequests and read their dialogue they speak in this way as it is their first time seeing it like?? Which is so strange cause totk would gladly reference Sidon and Link's companionship with a statue when trying to access Vah Ruta in BotW, but Mipha gets barely a mention from him? My biggest hopes before we got the title of the game was to let go of the champions, as in we don't need them to be back as they already have done what they need to do. But also I didn't want them to be completely gone from the game and only know them through easter eggs and references.
Like yeah TotK is a sequel to BotW but its more so "ok botw was a rough draft, THIS is the story we wanted to do" and it turns out to have inconsistencies. Zelda mentions the Calamity a few times, there are tombstones to placed around Hyrule commemorating people who lost their lives by the Calamity. But the Sheikah technology is completely gone, the towers that were there for eons are gone. I feel like the towers could've been an easy fix to explain why they are gone like "oh these chasms appeared and collapsed the towers, so now we built these new towers in replacement."
Like with Majora's Mask being separate but also a follow up to Ocarina of Time works because. While yes they are using the same characters and same game mechanics. They are using a whole different world/setting that is different from OoT. Where it excuses using the same characters and same game mechanics, cause it has a complete different story but is consistent on where it left off with Ocarina of Time. I honestly thought TotK was going to take place mostly in the skies than in the surface. Since they kept hyping people up with the teaser trailers and then we had SkSw HD being released. Like yeah it will be like some glorified version of SkSw
When I was reading the interviews Nintendo uploaded a few days before TotK's release and saw Fujibayashi say ,"We put in some effort to make sure that it feels comfortable for both first-time players and those with experience of the previous game." In the back of my mind I questioned a bit this cause I mostly asked myself "isn't this a sequel?" but then I reassured myself that they'll probably would reexplain certain things about the previous game and what happened in the story for new comers. But not to this extreme

New Sonic media needs to introduce more heroic male characters to the lineup.
Normally I like my takes quick and spicy and let people come to their own conclusions with them, but out of all my thoughts on the series that I’ve shared with fellow Sonic fans, this one tends to get the most ire. Bellow the cut are my more in depth thoughts on the matter.
I may be forgetting someone but I’m pretty sure the last character the series introduced that was simultaneously a guy, a hero, and had any sort of staying power was Silver all the way back in TWO THOUSAND SIX. This applies to ALL Sonic media/canon, by the way (be it the games, comics, spin offs like Boom, etc.)
The closest character I could think of that fills this criteria is Razor from the post-reboot Archie comics—he did appear in both the main comic and Sonic Universe, and was the only new character to get his own SCO backstory—but for obvious reasons he’s not showing up again any time soon. I don’t count Chip or Yacker since they’re pretty blatantly meant to be one off characters that fill a specific niche for that game’s plot. Also let’s be real they’re both mid as hell
Compare this to the girls: Sticks, Tangle, Whisper, Sage (who is framed as more of an antihero in Frontiers than a villain), Trip, this new girl from Dream Team…
People scream sexist at me whenever I bring this up, which is ironic because I am a Girl™ myself. My favorite Sonic character, Blaze, is a Girl™. Sticks is one of my favorite additions to the series in a long time, and she’s a Girl™. I’m not against Girl™ in Sonic.
BUT it does make me raise a brow looking at the track record of new characters that have been introduced to the series, specifically when it comes to gender and morality alignment. This is a lot more prevalent in the IDW comics than in the games, but it’s present in both.
Since Colors (which signaled a shift in direction in the series), the new antagonists we’ve gotten in the games are: Orbot and Cubot, the mostly male Deadly Six, the Hardboiled Heavies (if you wanna count them), Infinite, and Sage (kind of). In the IDW comics, we’ve gotten Rough and Tumble, Dr. Starline, Mimic, Clutch, Kit, and Surge.
In the same time period, the new leading/supporting protagonists we’ve gotten in the games are Yacker, the Forces OC, Sage (kind of), Trip, and Ariem (the new girl from Dream Team). You can also squeeze Sticks in here since she’s the only Boom character to get any extra relevance or spotlight on her outside of that spin off. In the IDW comics, we’ve gotten Tangle, Whisper, Jewel, Belle, and Lanolin.
Sure, there’s a little overlap here and there. But you should notice a pattern.
Do not interpret this as me saying that Sonic Team or the writers at IDW have some kind of anti-men agenda going on. That’s not what I’m suggesting. BUT I am getting tired of every new hero being a girl and just about every new villain being a boy. Can’t we switch it up a little?
Even the most prominent female antagonists in the series have some kind of sympathetic edge to them. Surge was brainwashed and experimented on by Starline. Sage’s character arc is supposed to be the focal point of Frontiers, and she only does evil things under Eggman’s command. Trip isn’t even evil in the first place, she just ends up working with Eggman and Fang for…reasons, and ultimately turns against them and becomes a playable hero. They’re not framed the same way that most, if not all of the male villains are. Not even Merlina is fully immune of this.
Outside of the sexist allegations, I usually get one of two responses whenever I bring this up:
A lot of Sonic fans are girls, so the series should introduce more female characters in order to appeal to their female fans.
The series already has a lot of male characters, so they need to balance out the cast with more girls.
Both of these points have their merits and flaws. I think that both of them are/were true up to a certain point, but nowadays they don’t hold up as well after we HAVE gotten tons of new female characters. When Sticks and Tangle were first shown off, I was ecstatic! Sticks being a fourth wall breaking conspiracy theorist is both tons of fun and a character archetype that the series hadn’t explored until then, and Tangle has one of my favorite designs of any Sonic character. But at some point, I started to notice the trend of every new hero being a girl and every new villain being a boy, and it really started to bother me. For IDW Sonic it was around the time Belle and Clutch were introduced (with Lanolin ultimately being the straw that broke the camel’s back—she insists upon herself), and for the games it was after seeing Ariem in Dream Team (I probably would’ve been more annoyed by the Fang/Trip dichotomy if I wasn’t absolutely joyous that the Nack Is Baaaaack). The whole “we need to introduce more girls to the series” angle doesn’t hold up as well when the series seems reluctant to commit to a straight up evil girl. Sonic desperately needs to flesh out his rouges gallery in the games, so why not add an absolutely psycho female antagonist?
Also this is a more personal note but I hate hate HATE it when people allege that girls can’t relate to male characters, so franchises need to introduce the Girl™ character so the Girls™ can relate to her. Can girls not relate to boys? Can boys not relate to girls? Once again, not against female characters in general, but that particular mindset has and will always bother me.
Who knows, maybe Ariem will end up being the main villain of Dream Team. It’d be cool, but I don’t see Sonic Team taking that route, especially not on an Apple Arcade exclusive. I don’t expect any big twists in that game.
Those are my two cents. I just think it’d be cool if we got a new boy as well as all the new girls we’ve been getting.

WIP...Saturday???
In the slipstream today! Reread Chapters 1 and 2 of Welcome to the Mod Shop and decided to crack open Chapter 3. Had much more written than I remembered and decided to add to it this evening. Below is a snippet of the beginning (aka what I had written before this evening). Enjoy! (Tagging @hidden-scarlet-whispers because I thought you would enjoy! :) )
Osiris had been with Saint through many deaths, but the quantity did not make each one easier. There was always that moment of panic, that cold pool of dread in his stomach at the momentary realization that Saint was dead. Then Geppetto would twist in a burst of light and his beloved would breathe once more.
Osiris would breathe too, and swallow any tears around an irrational lump in his throat.
Saint waking up from surgery was different and the differences made it simultaneously comforting and terrifying.
"He'll be a bit groggy, maybe even completely disorientated," Dr. Rose said calmly after the surgery was completed and her assistant cleaned up. "Be calm and give him time. Shutdowns are different from dying and rezzing, so his recovery time may be a few minutes instead of a few seconds. His system basically has to recalibrate and install software for the new peripheral, hence the extra time. If he's not functioning normally in ten minutes, you can press the red button near the surgery door. Clara or I will be here within fifteen seconds to assist. Do you understand?"
Osiris glanced at the emergency button near the door, glowing like a Vex's singular eye behind its protective glass flap. He nodded.
"I understand."
"Good." Dr. Rose smiled and clasped her hands together. "Now the fun part! The peripheral will be fully operational upon start-up. You are encouraged to ensure it is one-hundred percent operational before departing today, though you can come back at any time for a tune-up, recalibration, or any maintenance. A lifetime warranty is guaranteed with any augment.”
Osiris nodded sagely as he held Saint’s cool and motionless hand.
“And if there are any issues with the peripheral during testing?”
Dr. Rose grinned and pointed at the emergency button near the door. “Just give it a press and Clara and I can assist.”
“Sounds easy enough.” Osiris exhaled as he looked at the dark voids where Saint’s light once was. “I’m ready.”
Dr. Rose nodded and motioned for Clara as they began the reboot sequence. First the shutdown circuits and relay pathways were brought back online. Osiris studied Saint’s motionless face intently as diagnostics were run to gauge the connections.
“Everything looks green,” Clara said. “Circuits and pathways are clear.”
“Good. Proceeding with wake-up call.”
Dr. Rose tapped a key and Osiris swore he heard the moment power once again flooded through Saint, like a warm electrical hum on the edge of his hearing. Osiris felt like he his lungs could expand fully for the first time since the shutdown was executed.
“New hardware is receiving power and the logic panel is patching the required software now,” Clara reported. “New peripheral should be operational in under two minutes.”
“Excellent.” Dr. Rose smiled and turned to Osiris. “We’ll leave you two to it then.”
Dr. Rose and Clara quietly moved towards the exit. Before departing, Dr. Rose gave Osiris a double thumbs up. The professionalism of the action could be argued, but Osiris would be lying if he did not admit it made him smile. When the surgical suite door slid closed behind her, Osiris turned his attention back to his beloved.
Saint’s hand was starting to warm, though Osiris was not certain if it was from Saint’s systems or his own sweaty palm. Tentatively, he squeezed Saint’s hand and feared he would not get a response.
He silently gasped in relief when the Exo’s fingers twitched against his own. Then the Titan began to shift slightly on the table.

Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom is a soft reboot of the Zelda franchise
TL;DR: The title says it all. I feel like anyone trying to figure out where Breath of the Wild + Tears of the Kingdom fit into the greater Zelda Timeline has felt the pain of trying to reconcile the strange lore of Tears and Breath with what the previous game already established. Nintendo themselves haven't given much information regarding its placement besides a general "Reunited Timeline" placement which really opens a whole other can of worms. From Timeline enthusiasts to fanfiction writers, the giant grey area surrounding the recent Zelda games has no doubt irritated many. This is where my thesis statement comes in.
Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom is a soft reboot of the Zelda franchise. Or a normal reboot, I'm not actually too certain about the terms.
Nevertheless, I feel like the recent Zelda trilogy deliberately ignores previous Zelda lore to deliver new premises without worrying about staying canon-compliant with the previous games.
I initially came up with my hypothesis while playing Breath of the Wild, long before Tears of the Kingdom was even announced. Let's start with what weirded me out from that game alone, things that can't be simply explained by the "reunited timeline".
Breath of the Wild Part 1 - The Triforce
This is probably the most obvious thing and also what grabbed my attention from my very first playthrough. What's going on with the Triforce?
Throughout the game, the symbol of the triforce is used quite a bit across Hylian architecture as a symbol of the royal family, and the pedestal The Master Sword is found in is triangular in shape, but the actual Triforce is strangely missing throughout the game. The only time it is seen as if in use is on Zelda's hand, whenever she uses her divine power, in the Zelda's Awakening memory, the sealing Calamity Ganon sequence, and the destroying Dark Beast Ganon sequence. In Zelda's Awakening and when sealing Calamity Ganon, the Triforce appears in full on her right hand. When destroying Dark Beast Ganon, the triforce appears in front of her.
This would imply that Zelda possesses the full Triforce, if not for the fact that within the timespan of presumably a few days, Zelda uses the power of the entire Triforce twice in a row. With how the Triforce is treated in the game, it is safe to say it appears more as a symbol of Zelda's divine power rather than the powerful artefact it had been in the previous games.
Breath of the Wild Part 2 - Radio Silence
This next section isn't about a specific detail, but more so the lack of mention of previous Zelda lore. No mention of the Golden Goddesses, no mention of the history of the Master Sword. No mention of any previous Zelda games besides the easter egg names of various places (Mido Swamp for example). I do not count these as acknowledgements of previous games besides nostalgia and easter eggs. I feel the same way about the various Misko's Treasures, from the Ravio hood to the Fierce Deity's set, these are obviously in the game as nostalgia bait and to encourage people to buy the amiibo's, especially Wolf Link (I mean, it worked on me but still, it needs to be said).
(also side note, if I had a nickel for every time the Hero woke up after an extended sleep and in that time Ganon had already laid waste to Hyrule and now they have to venture to the four corners of the world to awaken sages and then fight the demon king in Hyrule Castle, I would have two nickles, which isn't much but isn't it weird it's happened twice?)
I'm not accusing Nintendo of reusing the same story twice, because obviously they aren't and Breath of the Wild is extremely different to Ocarina of Time. I would know, I've played both. Still, very similar.
(Come to think of it, If I had a nickel for every time the Hero had to complete three trials to strengthen their blade to defeat the demon king, I would have at least two nickles- OK I won't finish that again but still, Skyward Sword this time. (I'm not sure if that's happened in other Zelda games I haven't played through the entire series)
Also, speaking of Skyward Sword, why bring back the sword 'speaking' to the hero when A: Fi never speaks to Link in either game, only Zelda, and B: In Skyward Sword it is explicitly stated that Fi has entered a slumber alongside Ghirahim and Demise within the blade to purge the evil. This implies that after so long, the Demon King and his Blade have finally been fully purged (whether or not that would end the curse is up for debate). Would this allow Fi to manifest again? I'm not sure, but why bring back her chimes the way that they did? It's like they wanted to bring back the concept of the sword speaking without actually committing to giving Fi a voice (which is a bit fair but they could have done it the same way in Skyward Sword anyway, with the unintelligible words and left the interpretation up to the characters).
Ok, I think I should stop before I keep drawing more parallels between Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild, it's not even the game in the trilogy that has the most parallels. The Triforce was the main part of Breath of the Wild that made me confused, the rest was just a series of minor details that seemed out of place.
Tears of the Kingdom Part 1 - WHAT DO YOU MEAN FIRST KING OF HYRULE?!?
Dumbledore said calmly.
No but for real what is going on with the Zonai? Ignoring the fact that somehow, the last two Zonai alive are brother and sister and Ignoring everything regarding the secret stones, Tears of the Kingdom takes Zelda far back into the past, to the time of the founding of Hyrule.
Considering we have played through the founding of Hyrule in two previous Zelda games, this matters quite a bit.
By placing the Reunited Timeline at the end of the greater Zelda timeline, it makes the trilogy beholden to the previous Lore. Wind Waker got away with it, having explained its relationship to Ocarina of Time and so when Hyrule was re-founded, it made sense.
Rauru and Sonia are out here claiming to be founding this kingdom from scratch. This does not make any sense.
In Skyward Sword we see how the Skyloftians descend from Skyloft to the Forbidden Grounds, presumably then establishing the Kingdom of Hyrule, named after the goddess Hylia, whose mortal incarnation started the Royal Bloodline (Hence the Blood of the Goddess part of the curse). The initial Zonai Lore presented in the game could have just been a heavily distorted version of these events from the first game (descended from the heavens and all).
Yeah, the time travel sort of changed that entirely.
I genuinely cannot think of a logical explanation to place the events of Tears' past anytime before Skyward Sword. The existence of the Rito alone implies that the past can only go as far back as after the current games in the Adult Timeline. The events of all games in the Reunited Timeline exist purely within their own continuity and do not at all care for the history of the previous games.
That last sentence came out a bit harsh, what I mean is that any history the games abide by is not the same history as the previous Zelda games. It's an isolated thing.
Tears of the Kingdom Part 2 - Sonia
This isn't going to be a long section, more like why does Sonia look so extremely different from the standard Hylian? She looks almost nothing like previous Queens of Hyrule except maybe Tetra. Even then, her ears are so long the only Hylian's I know to ever have ears like that are previous Links. Her morphology is extremely unusual in regards to the Hyrulian Royal family of previous games, which have had largely consistent appearances and this trend is even back to normal in Breath of the Wild with Zelda. What?
Tears of the Kingdom Part 3 - The Kingdom in the Skies
Mostly wanted to say that once again, there are islands in the sky. The colours are very different but presumably, there was yet another cloud barrier that kept the two worlds separate. Why was this here? Why again? How did the upheaval dissipate the cloud barrier? These are questions of mine that will likely never be answered.
Conclusion before this gets too long
There are details among the games that remain the same-ish. The Gerudo has one male born every 100 years, and the Royal Bloodline bears the blood of the goddess Hylia. These details though feel shallow with none of the usual history to support them. Ganondorf doesn't even have the same history he usually has, by remembering the previous cycles. There are probably hundreds of other details I could talk about, but I'd be writing for hours in that case. Nevertheless, I feel like this supports my point.
The Reunited Timeline is a soft reboot of the Zelda franchise.
The base concepts are there, but the previous history of the world is gone. It's Zelda but without the history that could have seemed daunting to newcomers to the franchise. Zelda but made simpler, and more easily accessible to people who haven't touched the games before. That's probably why they did the reboot in the first place. I would just prefer they admit it rather than try and place it in the existing timeline weirdly and confusingly which gives experienced fans and writers a headache.
This is Kid and thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
