time to let out my inner emo... i'm at pepper ann surreal angst store do you want me to get anything? this is a piece i'm working on/maybe finished called "overshadowed"- it's not supposed to be vent art (and that is supposed to be a four paned window with some like light letting in not a cross...) but it's so dramatic cause i'm like that in my weird fanon nicky focus. my nicky headcanons i hope are at least decent so i'll try to explain *cracks knuckles* and yes i know probably NO version of nicky would wear mismatched socks but still. it happened. i drew them multicolored

-headcanoned design for nicky like around 15, hoodie with clover beads on the drawstrings as a symbol for good luck. cause she's not hopeless, but she needs a little "luck" somehow even if she doesn't believe in it. and this weird ass pencil skort thing is i don't know. something i thought up. the shoes and socks thing i did not have in mind. just sorta happened. and big sleeves like her childhood self in the amazing becky little and sort of inspired by jen from downtown

-nicky teenage rebellion? but also just really trying to catch up with herself and she doesn't want to be a burden on others. self help phase nicky. but her friends take notice the little changes in her and nicky is self isolating but also doesn't want her friends to "intervene" as she comes to pretty serious realizations about her life. or even changes! friends can be sort of resistant to change, we've seen that. so she just sorta buckles up for whatever she has to face when it comes to what she's finding out about the pressure she has put on herself and deal with how her friends would react, and why something feels "wrong" as to way she was thinking before and why she somehow feels so different on occasion as she gets older. she just wants her friends to be patient and not worry too much.

-the crude sillouettes you can barely make out are supposed to be younger nicky, becky, pepper ann, stuart (i don't know why i put him there and he looked less like a regular stick figure until i got him possesed by shadowy lighting). they are covered in shadows to represent how they might not really get nicky though they've been there for her to some extent perhaps but becky is the one who has been there experience wise, so she's covered by the least amount of shadows. she was actually over extending herself at harvard i just know she was. supposed to be like a weird ass door to her room at a weird perspective. pepper ann is supposed to have her arm raised. like heyy nicky i'm here if you need me!!

-the angels, who before were nicky's moral compass/inner narration with the big (harsher imo) and little (nicer imo) ones have combined to make a nuanced and complicated "grey angel" of both hope and resentment and it's an overcomplicated torch of truth and justice but also it's sorta overanalyzing (sound familar) and ironically can get nicky into digging a deeper hole for herself. it has a triple halo. it is impossibly nuanced and self contradicting as nicky is in this phase. she will call it a phase. she will call it complicated. but if you call her private, attention seeking overdramatic etc she will dodge questions change subjects and she will ignore you. she's TRYING to get over herself but doesn't wanna be bothered. legend of emotional nuance. legend of emotional detachment.

(LONG) an interesting and funny Pepper Ann live chat on Disney's Blast from 1998

What I find interesting about a lot of older TV shows is they had live chats with someone in character. I remember finding ones for Winx Club on the 4kids site when I used to go on Internet Archive a lot. What's funny about they committed to Pepper Ann responding in chararacter and she even interact with the chat mod. I think Disney's Blast is a paid subscription game/social thing? You'd have to pay to have access to it I think. This is called "Disney's Daily Blast"... queuing for April 8th. 27 year old ass chat just like Pepper Ann in the finale...

the funniest thing about liking multiple niche/specific cartoons is recognizing certain voice actors in other media and it's often funnier with the context of the original character. what do you mean stuart from pepper ann also voiced several characters in monster high, including heath later on (i'm pretty sure) and several characters in clifford including a 3 legged dog. what do you mean trollz 2005 and cybersix probably share a voice actor for the little demons in their show. i didnt even bother to look, but i heard it. what do you mean a character from pepper ann who was mostly a background character (constance) until one episode is voiced by freaking dexter from dexter's lab who also has ginger hair and glasses?
