i don't think i'll ever get over how people treat kids that aren't good in school as worthless no matter what. I read one of your reblogs about correcting WWX is not a binge drinker, which push forward more viewers to see this absurd meta about whump Laozu drowning in sorrow with alcohol. But then I read the Poster latest comment about getting hate because they made a little mistake, whereas I did not see any reblogs or replies using rude or abusive words at all.

What I want to say is that, a lot of fans did this. Wrongly spreading their own interpretation and crying pitifully when they're corrected, saying "I was just s little bit wrong, why did I get hate?" Garnering sympathy. But their so called meta has actually spread more false information and brainwash other source-ignorant fans.

If they don't want to get strictly corrected, then just don't post anything without understanding the entire picture. It's just fiction so it doesn't do any harm. But this kind of behavior of speculating without facts-checking will be detrimental to real people. And yet they think getting corrected for their behavior as getting hate instead??

I mean, I don’t think speculating without first fact-checking is a good or bad thing. We all do it every now and then, as evidenced by how I spent last week speculating and was wrong as hell about half my initial responses 🤣 I’m not fact-checking every stray thought I have about any novel over 500-pages long, and I’m not expecting others to either.

The problem is that being wrong is embarrassing to a lot of people—that wrong being publicly commented on even more embarrassing—and instead of just taking it on the chin and giving themself grace, some people’s automatic reaction is to minimize their embarrassment by making others out to be more wrong (“Yeah I was wrong about this, but you harassed me so that’s worse.”) The more popular the post being corrected, the more likely I’ve found it is that the op will react negatively to being told they are wrong, which is why personally I feel less hesitant interacting in disagreement to smaller posts. Once people realize it’s not a crime to be wrong about a book detail, we can have less stressful interactions in disagreement.

🚨BUNAD MISTAKE SPOTTED🚨

The girl to the left is wearing a Vestfold bunad with a støle-belt. Her vest is laced closed with a silver chain. This is CORRECT. She is wearing all the necessary pieces for a complete bunad. If she wanted to add more details to her outfit, she could add a hat or headband, a silk kerchief, and a cape, but the outfit fits her well and she seems happy in it, so those are just suggestions.

Her friend to the right, however, is dressed in an Eastern Telemark bunad. This bunad does not have a leather belt, but a tablet woven one. She is not wearing a jacket, but she is wearing the jacket's silver brooches, pinned to her belt. this is NOT CORRECT. Trust me, I understand the urge to show off all your silver even though it's too warm for a jacket. But please do not do this! This damages your belt!! Telemark in particular has a tendency to layer so much stuff on top of each other that there will always be beautiful details of your bunad that are hidden from onlookers. That's part of its charm. Learn to embrace it. Do not ruin your woven belt with pins. I would also advise her to not carry as much in her pocket, as it too is tugging on her belt in a way that might tear on it over time. But I must say, her red silk Kerchief is a nice touch to her otherwise relatively plain bunad.

Something I don't get is when someone is talking about things being expensive and then some americans are like, it's not actually a scary $125 guys it's actually only $80 which is still a lot but it's actually kinda reasonable for the item

And it's like no!!! It doesn't work like that!!! Just because it costs less in usd doesn't mean the person didn't actually pay that much!!

If you buy a mug for $125aud, and you live in australia, you're paying that in $125aud, not $80aud!! Currency conversion doesn't matter in the slightest for understanding because in practice it is functionally the same as paying $125usd for a mug in america!!

If I earn $15cad/hr, and someone in Poland is earning 15zł/hr, and they bought an item that was like 150zł, me converting that price into Canadian and being like it's actually not that bad bc it's only like $50cad :), it doesn't change the fact that that for them!! It was a lot more!! Like functionally that's the same as $150cad

Functionally 1cad = 1zł = 1aud = 1usd = 100¥

Like the only time currency conversion is useful is for figuring out how far your coin goes when used in another economy, not for understanding if an item is or isn't expensive for a person living in said economy
