I love how the rebels family is formed by two jedis, a mandalorian, a lasat warrior, a droid that is a menace to society and hera. like, she is the badass pilot, but she doesn't need a lightsaber or a helmet or claws or droid tech. she's hera. HERA. and to me that's enough to fright anyone.

My mind is like incoherently screaming. Still. It’s been idk half an hour since I saw the Ahsoka trailer and I’m still so ohmygod about it. I did not expect it today. Tomorrow for sure.
But the space family. Sabine looks so pretty. I had to pause and check her twitter search to make sure that was her. I loved seeing Ahsoka’s return to Lothal from the Rebels epilogue filmed makes so much sense. And her looking at Ezra’s hologram… HERA. I loved Hera. And Chopper. My family.
I’m so intrigued about the dark Jedi or whoever Ahsoka is fighting??? I am 1000% going to be least interested in Ahsoka but that’ s okay.
And Grand Admiral Thrawn. The view from behind was all I needed to get hyped cause what a view it is. So instantly recognizable. I’m glad I’ve had plenty of time to prep for them to go the HTTE route for him cause all it earned was a small eyeroll. And I’ll probably mind it less in a Rebels framed show. But no way it’s making my canon. But as long as he’s still a sexy genius I’ll still love him.
Just… it’s my people? My Star Wars. Star Wars is best when it’s SWR. And it is.
August needs to get here now.

Everyone talks about Ezra's relationships with Hera, Kanan, and Sabine but Zeb and Chopper loved him too. Zeb and Ezra were really like brothers. They teased and fought each other like brothers. Even when Zeb didn't understand all of the Jedi stuff Ezra did he supported him. I didn't ever think that we would see live action Zeb and Ezra reunite and maybe it won't happen in Ahsoka but now it can happen.
Do you ever think that Zeb remembers joking with Ezra back before the Season 2 finale? About how they'll have "probably have toppled the Empire" before he gets back? Even if in that instance he was referring to Malachor, I have to wonder did he remember saying it.
Does he tear up when he thinks of that scrawny, irritable kid that he misses so much? That he wishes he had nicer to? That he thinks about and immediately goes to get a drink because karabast, it's been eleven years?
The kid he sees in every new imperial helmet he finds and keeps just in case?
The kid he sees in the blankets and sketchbooks and cat fur that Zeb could never bare taking out of their cabin, leaving them aside because the kid'll be back and whining about him moving his stuff?
The kid he can't imagine as a man because it would hurt too much if he ever found out that Ezra had died before he got the chance to grow up?
The kid that, even years later, he'll still look back for during a mission to make sure he's out first, only to realise he wasn't even there?
The kid that he raised a drink for after the Death Star exploded?
The kid that he started making logs after every mission for, reciting every detail he could remember because he promised him war stories and didn't want to be outdone?
The kid he tells Jacen stories about?

One of the things I love about Rebels is that if you just watch the opening two-parter, it looks like it's going to be the story of a young orphan taken in and educated by a family of functional adults.
And then you keep watching (and reading the tie-in media), and you realize that Hera is still seething with resentment toward the parents she ran away from in her teens, Kanan spent years drowning his trauma (and connection to the Force) in the bottom of a bottle, Sabine is frantically avoiding coming to terms with more bad past life decisions than any sixteen-year-old should have had time to make, and Zeb is the only person in the entire crew who’s made it out of his twenties.
But goddamn it, Ezra thinks they’re functional adults, so they’re going to pull it together and pretend for his sake. And somehow, it works. Somehow, they all grow up together.

You know which episode this is set after, guys. D'you think Zeb ever kind of regretted coming back? Like, not seriously regretted, just wondered how much less annoyed he'd be on Lira San?
Also, space socks look exactly like earth socks?!? Yes. And Zeb is wearing a space Tshirt that looks exactly like an earth Tshirt. Stop questioning me.

When space whale design so good you can't just steal it to your own cosmoopera story so you have to draw your first fanart in years and revive your tumblr art blog to post it
[other version and image description under the cut!]

Ezra version ♡
[ID: A horizontal artwork showing Exra Bridger from season 2 of Star Wars: Rebels and the group of space whales, Purgil. The purgil are floating in space and one of them, closest to the viewing point, is positioned so that its eye coincides with one of Ezra's eyes. Their eyes are shining teal blue. Ezra is depicted in a somewhat abstract way, he stands waist high and the space behind him, but behind the whales.
In the second version of the image, Ezra is in the foreground, while the Purgil is only in the background. He is standing and holding his lightsaber, looking somewhat lost in thought. ]

vague-posting about this here cuz i don't feel comfortable yapping about my su takes on twitter, but after everything that's happened the most interesting thing about the su fandom to me is that so many are 100% there for applying the "everyone can change and deserves a second chance" message to everyone, even the diamonds. except for one ☝️ she doesn't count. cuz she's dead.
#personal#very extremely delete later#ok cutting the vague post this is about a “whose the worst cartoon mom” twt post with pink diamond in the running#and a bunch of people pointing at her. the woman who died in childbirth and never got to meet her child. and she's literally next to#mother gothel. the baby kidnapper who kidnapped a baby#i'm always gonna be a pink diamond nuancepilled defender. she was a shitty entitled teen who grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth#then got self-radicalized and rebelled for both selfish AND selfless reasons#“this show is great because everyone makes mistakes and learns from them. except the pink one. she's bad and dead forever.”#anyways this is a crit towards the fandom not the show#“she had steven so she could selfishly escape her mistakes and put all her burdens on her child” or she wanted a child#“she abandoned her family” or she died during childbirth#“she started a war that got thousands of gems killed and mutilated” and if she hadn't nobody on earth would exist#the fact that some fans are more willing to jump to white diamond’s defense when talking about her reformation and redemption#white diamond—the architect and supreme ruler of a 10000+ year old fascist empire—has 10000% done worse more unforgivable things than pink#guys even blue diamond has shattered gems before. like not just kill them but permanently split their souls into pieces.#ruby called her a “SHATTERER.” she was INFAMOUS for murdering people. pink never shattered anyone#for fans of a show that explicitly says nobody's truly a villain you guys sure do want a villain really badly#anyways “we need more compelx female characters y'all couldn't even handle rose quartz” etc. etc. etc.

in less than 10 episodes darth maul tricked ezra, made him believe that he was a friend, lied to him, betrayed him, blinded his master, was one of the causes that ahsoka didn't came back, held the rebels family hostage, hurted them, robbed kanan's holocron, almost KILLED kanan AGAIN and tricked ezra AGAIN.
he messed with the space family so i don't care about anything else that he has to say. obi wan should've gone for his fucking head.

Your Ancient History, Written In Wax
-
Danny knew he should have put better security around the Sarcophagus of Eternal Sleep. It wasn’t even Vlad who opened it this time! The fruitloop was too busy doing his actual mayor duties because for some godforsaken reason, the man got re-elected.
No, it wasn’t Vlad. And it wasn’t Fright Knight, either. Nor the Observants. Who opened the Sarcophagus, then? Danny didn’t have time to find out as Pariah Dark promptly tore open a hole in reality and started hunting Danny down.
The battle was longer this time. He didn’t have the Ecto-Skeleton, as that was the first thing Pariah had destroyed. The halfa had grown a lot over the past few years, and learned some new tricks, but apparently sleeping in a magic ghost box meant that Pariah had absorbed a lot of power. The bigger ghost acted like a one-man army!
Amity Park was caught in the middle of the battle, but the residents made sure it went no further than that. Vlad and the Fentons made a barrier around the town to keep the destruction from leaking. Sam, Tucker, and Dani did crowd control while Danny faced the king head-on.
Their battle shook the Zone and pulled them wildly between the mortal plane and the afterlife. Sometimes, residents noticed a blow from Pariah transported them to the age of the dinosaurs, and Phantom’s Wail brought them to an unknown future. Then they were in a desert. Then a blazing forest. Then underwater. It went on like that, but no one dared step foot outside of Amity. They couldn’t risk being left behind.
It took ages to beat him, but eventually, Danny stood above the old ghost king, encasing his symbols of power in ice so they couldn’t be used again. He refused to claim the title for himself. Tired as he was, Danny handed the objects off to Clockwork for safe keeping and started repairing the damage Pariah had done to the town. The tear he’d made was too big to fix, for now, so no one bothered. They just welcomed their new ghostly neighbors with open arms and worked together to restore Amity Park.
Finally, the day came to bring down the barrier. People were gathered around the giant device the Fentons had built to sustain it. Danny had brought Clockwork to Amity, to double check that they had returned to the right time and dimension.
Clockwork assured everyone that they were in the right spot, and only a small amount of time had passed, so the Fentons gave the signal to drop the shield.
Very quickly did they discover that something was wrong. The air smelled different. The noise of the nearby city, Elmerton, was louder and more chaotic. Something was there that wasn’t before, and it put everyone on edge.
Clockwork smiled, made a remark about the town fitting in better than before, and disappearing before Danny could catch him.
Frantic, Danny had a few of his ghost buds stay behind to protect the town while he investigated.
He flew far and wide, steadily growing horrified at the changes the world had undergone. Heroes, villains, rampant crime and alien invasions. The Earth was unrecognizable. There were people moving around the stars like it was second nature and others raising dead gods like the apocalypse was coming. Magic and ectoplasm was everywhere, rather than following the ley lines like they were supposed to.
Danny returned to Amity.
The fight with Pariah had taken them through space and time. Somewhere along the way, they had changed the course of history so badly that this now felt like an alien world.
How was he supposed to fix this?

In the Watchtower, The Flash was wrapping up monitor duty while Impulse buzzed around him, a little more jittery than usual. The boy was talking a mile a minute, when alarms started blaring an alarming green. Flash had never seen this alarm before, and its crackling whine was grating on his ears.
Flash returned to the monitor, frantically clicking around to find the issue, but nothing was popping up. No major disasters, no invasions, no declarations of war. Nothing! What was causing the alarm?
Impulse swore and zipped to a window, pressing his face against it and staring down at Earth. “Fuck! It’s today isn’t it? I forgot!”
“What’s today?” Flash asked. He shot off a text to Batman, asking if it was an error. The big Bat said it wasn’t, and that he would be there soon.
“The arrival of Amity Park. I learned about this in school; the alarm always gives me headaches.”
Flash turned to his grandson, getting his attention. “Bart,” he stressed. “What are you talking about?”
Impulse barely glanced over his shoulder. Now that Flash was facing him, he could see a strong glow coming from Earth. “The first villain, first anti-villain, and the first hero,” he said anxiously. “They all protect the town of the original metas. They’re all here.”
“Here? Now??”
“Yeah? They weren’t before, but they are now. The first hero said there was time stuff involved, which was what inspired me to start practicing time travel in the first place.”
“I’m not following.”
“It’s okay. We should probably go welcome them before they tear apart Illinois, though. The history I remember says that some of them freaked and destroyed a chunk of the Midwest during a fight with each other.”
“WHAT?”
#dpxdc#pondhead blurbs#liminal amity park#I’ve seen stuff like this in the mhaxdp fandom and I eat it up every time#basically the fight with Pariah caused the town to jump through time a little#and while they THOUGHT they were keeping everything in#shit leaked out and tainted those points in time#so technically#historically and genetically speaking#Amity Park is the origin point for the meta gene and Danny made history as the first hero#because Clockwork is a little shit#everyone embodies a basic ability and it has grown from there#the flash family are direct descendants of Dani (speed force Dani for the win)#Dash is the reason super strength exists#so on and so forth#go buck wild#bart learned about it briefly in history class in the 30th century#practically hero worships them#booster gold knows about them too but in contrast to Bart’s excitement#booster is fucking terrified because there was a period where Amity Park rebelled against the US government#and he’s from that specific time#he learned to fear phantom because he lived during that part while Bart is from farther in the future when those issues got resolved#guess who’s chosen to welcome the town? >:)#if you’re wondering what happened to the GIW#they turned into the branch Amanda Waller runs#Danny is the first hero#Vlad the first villain#and Dani the first anti hero#there’s an arc where Danny is trying to fix things but clockwork won’t let him into the timestream and all the heroes are horrified#because yeah Danny is the OG but if he goes back in time to fix his ‘mistake’ what will happen to them?

What strikes me about Rebels isn't that every single crew member on the Ghost has trauma associated with their family of origin. Traumatic backstories are a dime a dozen. What's different about Rebels is that every single crew member finds some measure of catharsis and reconciliation, too.
Hera and her father are at odds because he prioritizes Free Ryloth, while she ran away to join the wider rebellion--but they make up, and learn to work together.
Kanan loses the Jedi to Order 66--but over the course of the show he learns they're not all lost, and that the survivors believe he's worthy of knighthood.
Zeb believes his entire species is gone--but he finds them, and a home world, again.
Sabine is rejected by her family for speaking out against the Empire--and then convinces them to turn against the Empire in the end.
And Ezra may never see his parents in life--but he's able to speak to them one last time, and learn in turn that they were proud of him.
Yeah, it's a show about found family--but it's a show about family of origin, too. One doesn't replace the other; it complements it. And it's the crew working together that helps every one of them reconnect the bonds that are broken.
