In the past, people in the Animal Crossing community would make fun of Tom Nook as a sleazy landlord. Since then, he's really rehabilitated his image as this 'heart of gold' businessman (he's the one who puts bells and furniture in trees for you to find! he adopted orphans! he donates to charity!), but New Horizons genuinely paints the most devious version of him.
He's successfully privatized settler colonialism: you pay HIM to move to a "deserted island" (which apparently the oceans in the AC world are just full of) and start a colony that he is directly invested in. At best he's running a weird vacation package scam (you arrive on the island with no money and in debt for "using his services"). At worst, he's using you to set up company towns. For god's sake, he literally has his own fake currency that he forces you to use to pay off your debt. But don't worry, he's repackaged it in a way that definitely doesn't sound like an MLM scam: the Nook Mileage Program!
You're no longer just his tenant or his temporary part-timer, you're his business lackey. The entire tutorial section of the game has you spending actual weeks running around completing tasks and doing hard labor to set up his colony. You're even tasked with preparing his properties and finding buyers for them. No, you aren't a tenant anymore. You work for the landlord. You are directly responsible for finding tenants for him. And he doesn't even fucking pay you. Not for setting up town hall and museum, or his nephew's shop –– which is the ONLY store on the entire island that sells necessities –– or bringing KK Slider to town, or helping populate his town. Not a single cent. No, actually, you have to pay HIM to BUY infrastructure like bridges and stairs and park benches. And all the while, he's telling you're the "resident representative"; you get to call the shots! That the reward is the community's progress. That what you're doing is in everyone's best interest (but most importantly, his).
Since NH's release, people have done a lot of legwork to say that Tom Nook isn't a capitalist while the game shows him at his very worst. He owns the only general store in town. You're forced to use a phone that he modified and branded as his own. Buy Nook-branded furniture and merchandise at the self-serve kiosk in the town hall, a governmental building! There's no conflict of interest here!
But hey, if you're tired of being the landlord/business mogul's goon, you can also find work as a deluxe resort home designer for a company that also pays you in their special company currency that can only be used to buy their products instead of a real salary! Because that's what the Animal Crossing franchise needs! More vacation homes!!!
#this is a really long winded way to say i really really really really hate new horizon's storyline and player role#i really hate that not only your house but the entire TOWN. the whole COMMUNITY you're a part of is owed to tom nook's business#i really hate the “vacation getaway package” angle because it shows just how commercialized the entire premise of nh is#and how lost the game is in its original core concept#animal crossing is about the experience of moving to a new town and becoming a part of that community#just to compare: all past ac games have a similar opening#you're on a bus or train or taxi to someplace new. a stranger strikes up a conversation and you get to know them before arriving#new horizons opens with you at customer service desk filling out an client application before a flight.#in prev games working for nook in the tutorial is meant to be demeaning. you want it to be over with so you can actually start living life#but in new horizons working for tom nook IS your life. and it's so rewarding! don't you feel rewarded?#you aren't a person. you aren't a new neighbor. you're tom nook's client. and then his unpaid employee. and the game insists it's fun to be#that's how void the game is#because it's bad enough that a rpg life sim got turned into a sandbox game where you have to build the town yourself#but the only reason why you're building it is because the landlord who you're in debt to TOLD you to build it.#everything is a rewards program! everything is a tour service! be sure to do your daily tasks to earn nook bucks to spend on nook merch!#that really sucks imo.#i mean. the entire game is based around the vacationing industry. of course it all feels fake and temporary. it's only a vacation.#long post#rant#not art#god the fact that your starter villagers can't even decide where to live you have to decide for them#i've never played a game that does the opposite of handholding#where instead it's the PLAYER who has to handhold the npcs through everything. and newsflash!! it's really exhausting and boring

More PROOF The NHS Hate Me and Refuses To Help Me:
My former therapist (IM), the psychiatrists, AG, and CP, refused to listen to me when I told them I wouldn’t be able to do Group Therapy, due to the fact I can’t speak or string a sentence together unless I have alcohol in my system. And frankly, I don’t want to listen to everyone’s pathetic problems which I have done for years.
They still went through with it. So much so that I got a letter, that clearly stated that I wouldn’t be receiving any other help unless I did the group therapy?
Since when, has that been a thing? If I didn’t do group therapy I wouldn’t be getting anything else?
BULLSHIT! Absolute bullshit!
I’ve never heard of it, and neither has anyone else!
So, I emailed the bitch, (sorry to call her that, but you’ll see why in a second).
I emailed her, told her what they said. Which she fucking said I could do if anything happened! And she doesn’t even bother.
Fair enough, I was angry, but really, am I to blame?! Surely it’s understandable that I would be angry when I willingly got help for myself, I was willing to get help for my intrusive thoughts and my trauma from when I was 7. And I received nothing. No help. No diagnosis. No medication!
I was told I would get those three things, and I got NOTHING!
So, being angry in that sense is understandable.
I sent her a second email, saying she’s proved to me what she really is like. And all that. So fine, you’ve proved that to me. You a disgusting example of a human being. Clearly don’t care about anyone. Just what goes into your pocket.
Second bit of proof is my GP.
I wrote her a letter telling her all the problems I’ve been having. The chronic pain, the pain in my eyes and jaw, the shakiness I get when I sometimes have naps, the shakiness I get generally.
And that was a week. This is week 2, still nothing. No letter, no phone call, no message.
So, she doesn’t believe my mum when she tells her. And now I’m lying?
Why would I be fucking lying?
Why would I lie about my pain which causes me A LOT of problems?
I’m done. I’ve had enough. I can’t take this anymore.
I don’t understand what I did. I don’t understand what the reasoning is behind all of this fucking hate!
They’re making me want to die. They’re making me lose my mind and cry and want to hurt myself.
I’ve lost my cat, which didn’t help my mental health and now they’re just making it worse. And I don’t understand why they would do that.
The only 2 things I can think off is my posts about them, or the fact that my health conditions and mental health costs the NHS a lot of money.
But that’s not my fault. Neither things are down to me. They should have done their jobs. They should have helped me when I asked for it, they should have helped me when I begged for it.
I can’t take anymore.

I agree that the numerous private systems for supplying trans healthcare in the UK are taking advantage of the shitty situation that trans people are dealing with on the NHS. However that doesn't make the trans people's situation less shitty, and I feel it is unfair to guilt people with 'support the NHS' or whatever if they go outside of it.

It seems the dash has been talking about the Lan Xichen - Nie Huaisang post-canon dynamics and it's gotten me thinking about how discussion around post-canon Lan Xichen's absolutely horrendous mental state often center around the question of "who is Lan Xichen angry at and who does he feel guilty about" which, at its worst, seperates into 2 camps where according to one side he feels guilty about not protecting jgy and hates the Nies and, on the other side he has completely flipped on jgy and despises him now while being filled with regret towards both nmj and nhs.
And I dislike both of these takes not just because it often feels like people projecting their own Blorbo opinions onto Lan Xichen which is never a fun time but also because that central question is flawed to begin with. It treats anger and guilt like opposing emotions that can't coexist or, if they do, have to compete until one wins and cancels the other out.
And that's not how that... works.
To be clear, the reason why Lan Xichen is so supremely fucked up at the end of the story is that he believes on some level he fucked over everyone in this situation. And, even more importantly, that even with hindsight he can't actually think of what he should have done instead. Every attempt to do better by one seems to involve fucking over the others even more because these people were in conflict with each other and choosing one would mean standing against another
And none of this would actually stop him from feeling angry at any of them. It's not "who is he angry at and who does he feel guilty about" it's: "he is angry at everyone and feels an immediate and bone deep guilt for daring to think badly of them."
Speaking from personal experience here, but feeling like you're not allowed to be angry at someone because you wronged them really doesn't stop the feeling, it just maks you feel like shit for feeling it. And this is all worsened by the fact that what he's in seclusion for is, at the end of the day, a moral question of what he, Lan Xichen, did wrong and every single emotion serves as further proof of the ways he's failed them.
Is he angry at Jin Guangyao, for killing his oldest friend, using Lan xichen's trust in him to do it, and then lying to him about it and countless other things for a decade when Lan Xichen thought of him as the person he trusted the most in the entire world? Yeah. That's a thing people get angry about! Except Jin Guangyao also saved his life and protected and helped him more times than he can count and never ever hurt him and can Lan Xichen say the same? No. He had to clean A-Yao's blood off Shouyue, he has to be haunted by the fact that if he just hadn't listened to Huaisang- hadn't been just like everyone else, in the end, and believed a lie about Jin Guangyao just to think the worst of him- then Jin Guangyao might still be alive.
Is he angry at Huaisang? For orchestrating the death of his best friend? For making him do it? For knowing what the real cause behind Nie Mingjue's death was and never telling him until he found out in the absolute worst way? Absolutely. But didn't Huaisang hide it from him for a reason? Wasn't it his clan's techniques and his personal faith in Jin Guangyao that cost Huaisang his brother? How dare he demand that Huaisang let him in on the secret of his brother's murderer when Lan Xichen is here wondering about how he should have protected that murderer better!
And I do even think he's angry at Nie Mingjue, sometimes I think it's pretty normal to be angry at your friend for kicking your other friend down the stairs and threatening to kill him, even when you know his mind is being poisoned. And years later the last thing he ever saw of Nie Mingjue was Nie Mingjue's thoughtless corpse coming to kill him before Jin Guangyao pushed him away and then proceeded to graphocally snap Jin Guangyao's neck in front of him. And if what he wants to do is protect Jin Guangyao, shouldn't he be mad at Mingjue? Didn't this whole mess start because Jin Guangyao was afraid Nie Mingjue was going to kill him?
Except holy shit, can you imagine? Lan Xichen feels like he personally has Nie Mingjue's blood on his hands. Your oldest friend is killed in front of you and you happily believe it's an accident for 11 years and now you think you have the right to be mad at him? You watched him get worse as he was being poisoned and attributed it to his illness and not to the techniques stolen from your library with the token you give his murderer. Does he think Nie Mingjue knew who he was in that moment and wanted to kill him? That he blamed Lan Xichen for his death? (For the record, I don't. I don't agree with most of what Lan Xichen thinks about himself, but I've been in a self-blame spiral and I know how it feels)
But what was he supposed to do then? Choose Mingjue's side and let A-Yao die? That's also unacceptable. But so is letting Jin Guangyao get away with it. Every single outcome is unacceptable. And really, if Jin Guangyao felt like he had to kill Nie Mingjue to save himself, when it was Lan Xichen who was supposed to keep the peace between them, isn't that another mark of his failure? That he couldn't protect Jin Guangyao well enough that he felt he had to do something so horrible?
But that's not an answer! He's supposed to know what he should have done different, and all he can come up with is "what you were already doing, but without failing this time" He can't pick a side because that means betrayal, but he's already tried not picking a side and it ended like this! There is no right answer, which can only leave him with the idea that he was simply doomed to hurt the people he loved from the start. No wonder the guy looks like shit when we see him post-canon. They put him in a real life trolley problem and gave him the lever as a souvenir.

I see people tossing certain parts of Dandadan out of context as reason to hate on it aka the serpoians in episode 1 or the serpo arc later on in chapter 20 and it's like yall.
Yall make me want a cigarette and I haven't smoked in 15 years.
So why? Why does it bug me?
Because, people see any sort of uncomfortable sexual scene and immediately assume we've become a doujin on nh**Tai and ignore context or why the scene is that way:
The aliens are completing a classic stereotype of "we're probing you". In no way is it portrayed in a titillating manner in either the manga or the anime. Any scene with sexual connotations is framed in a way that's violent, which is the point. The slow tilts up and down Momo's body while the serpoians tries to control her are also supposed to imply the mental turmoil she's facing in that moment. And then we get that absolutely beautiful moment when she remembers her grandmothers teachings and BAM! Climatic ending.
I've posted about this before but it's a bit of a bait and switch because by the end of episode 1, Momo gains her psychic power and uses it to defeat the serpos AND save Okarun.
And speaking of Okarun, the dude is SA'd offscreen. His dick and balls stolen by Turbo Granny. Yet no one cares because it isn't shown.

I have talked about this before but the "fujoshis hating on female character in the way of their ship" is really overblown and a lot of times not even true.
For example, I never see anything but adoration from itafushi shippers towards Nobara, and they were upset what happened at Shibuya. And I honestly have never seen tododeku or bakudeku shippers hating on Uraraka. Same way I also never see kiribaku shippers hating on Mina. I don't really agree with bkdk shippers saying Uraraka and Deku have no development, but disagreeing on ship dynamics is not the same as hating Uraraka. That's the thing, a lot of people mistake hating on hetero ship to hating on female character/misogyny. Probably because they think the only value a female character can have is in a het ship lol.
When it comes to Sakura, the reason why some ns shippers dislike her is because she is written to be an unlikeable character who never changes or grows. She treats Naruto, one of the parties in the ns ship badly (and Kishimoto even mentioned her actions in Kage arc were detestable) and she treats Sasuke, the other party in ns like an object (again, Kishimoto mentions that her feelings are self-centered and also used a word meaning toxic addiction to describe them). No matter how many times Sasuke rejects her, she won't listen. She disrespects Sasuke's family, which matters to Sasuke more than anything, more than once, as well as his feelings and wants. It's not shocking people who like Naruto and Sasuke would dislike her and find her ignorance irritating. And yet, there are many ns who like her (for some reason) and create fanon content where she is a totally different character in order to show their support for her. Also, both SS/NH frequently send threats a well as homophobic comments (I myself have literally gotten someone calling me fag and telling me to die lol) and they are far more vicious than ns could ever hope to be.
As for Mikasa, well, I see more dislike towards EM than towards her from EA shippers. But I have also seen them say Mikasa's obsession is annoying, that she's boring, that it's annoying how her one-sided feelings are rewarded. I don't think this is massive hate, and definitely not worse than how I have seeing EM shippers reply to EA with pictures of gay flags burning or homophobic comments. This is not even mentioning the sexually degrading comments I have seen them targeted towards Historia. The most misogynist comments towards Mikasa come from men. It is also a fact that Eren and Mikasa don't have heart to hearts during the manga and it's okay to dislike the ship due to this lack of development.
Some satosugus have shown dislike towards Utahime apparently (or so I have been told) but I have also witnessed gojo/hime shippers sending homophobic vitriol towards satosugu content so again, their side isn't clean either. And plenty of gojo/hime frequently voice their dislike towards Geto so I don't see why satosugus can't dislike Utahime.
Regardless, I think this phenomenom just comes from het shippers being upset their ships are called bland and criticised, and wanting to brand people who ship gay ships as automatically evil, while pretending like their side isn't capable of being vile.

Nie Huaisang, Lan Xichen, Jin Guangyao, and Nie Mingjue all reincarnate together into PIDW, and become disciples around the same time as Luo Binghe.
The drama of this is of course enhanced by the facts that NMJ & JGY died "early," but NHS & LXC lived to the end of their natural lives as cultivators, and so some of their perspectives and opinions on events have naturally changed with age. (tfw the passage of time renders you unfamiliar to your once-loved ones)
Eventually they talk about their feelings and reconcile and such, and this ends up derailing the plot of PIDW severely as the rest of the PIDW characters confusedly observe quite possibly the weirdest disciples Cang Qiong's ever seen
NMJ on Bai Zhan, with no clue what's going on because he died first and NHS & LXC haven't told him anything
NHS on An Ding, thoroughly enjoying what's pretty much a vacation to him at this point and possibly running an interpeak illicit goods market (definitely not to distract himself from any of the emotions having NMJ & JGY alive and nearby would be causing him, Everything Is Fine) I haven't decided if he'd get involved with the whole og!SQH and MBJ situation tho
LXC on Qiong Ding, because I feel like he'd see himself in Yue Qingyuan and lowkey hate him for it and I think that could be interesting
JGY on Qing Jing, because he's the objectively the funniest/most interesting character to throw into the mess that is SJ and LBH. The way I imagine it, he's doing the most direct derailing of the plot, because he mostly accidentally gets right in the middle of the thing that is going on between those two
I feel like as I wrote this it became more serious than I originally intended so just know that I'm mentally picturing this like a fic that's interspersed with outsider POV of the 4 of them being completely deranged about eachother
(Also I'd feel bad taking away LXC's brother so LWJ and WWX + friends are busy doing hot girl shit being rogue cultivators. I think WWX should be a half demon so he gets to keep the cultivation and steal some of LBH's protagonist energy. If this was a fic then the rest of the Untamed gang would be perfect to use for side characters during off-peak missions)
*grabs popcorn and sits down to hear more*
Nie Huaisang is having too much fun waiting the two idiots called his shizun and shizun's poorly kept secret of a boyfriend go flailing around on these terribly unromantic dates BUT THE TWO WERE TRYING SO HARD that it was cute. He wonders if he should do something to help the poor idiots out... Should he?
Maybe he should...
(Watch Shang Qinghua and Mobei Jun suddenly have a number of sex pollen accidents over the next few months....)
Lan Xichen would be an old man and a good voice of reason for Yue Qingyuan. Although he's head disciple and a very good one at that (if only because his Big Brother instincts can't be held back and he MUST interfere to help prevent history repeating once more), Lan Xichen has made it very clear that he would never accept becoming sect leader.
Also don't forget Liu Mingyan in the background writing about a 4 person sex orgy. At least, that's her personal theory for why there's so much UNRESOLVED TENSION between these four sus male disciples. And also, because it's fun.
It's even funner when you consider that Nie Mingjue is out of the loop of Cang Qiong stuff even on Bai Zhan because he tags along on so many of Liu Qingge's missions that he's probably spending like 8 months of the year outside of the sect.
(Nie Huaisang gets "assigned" to missions that happen to take place near Nie Mingjue's hunts.)
Meng Yao is Meng Yao and he still craves the approval of Male Authority Figures That Could be his dad. Also Meng Yao still likes to climb up the social hierarchy and power. AKA Luo Binghe growing mushrooms in the corner at seeing ANOTHER QING JING disciple THE SAME AGE AS HIM being given SO MUCH ATTENTION AND APPROVAL by shizun.
Luo Binghe develops a complex over Meng Yao of course.
(Shen Jiu approves of Meng Yao because he understands these characters very well and know how to manipulate (cough kill or injury them physically or mentally) them easily. Plus Meng Yao is actually competent.)
[More in #Nie Huaisang Lan Xichen Meng Yao and Nie Mingjue reincarnate into PIDW and are Cang Qiong disciples at the same time as Luo Binghe is AU

Continuing after this post, which is my list of changes CQL made from MDZS that I did not like, changes from MDZS in CQL that I liked:
I really liked that Wen Ning and Wen Qing come to the Lan Sect lectures for the opening scenes. I think establishing them early both makes for a rounder story, because this way WN and WQ don't just show up when necessary for the plot but are people in their own right from the very beginning. I love WQ in the book, and I felt that the expansion of her character for the drama was very true to her character and made me love her that much more. I also really liked the WQ/JC relationship. I really think that you could have introduced these Wen characters early on, as the drama did, without using the stupid Yin Iron plot to get there. Just have them study at Cloud Recesses and then show the archery competition.
This is pertinent to the expansion of WQ's character and also to the point I'm about to make below about Jiang Yanli's character, but I appreciated how the drama expanded the roles of these two female characters. The women in MDZS are really interesting, complex characters, and yet for some reason they are not given the page-time and attention that the much larger cast of male characters gets. I'm frustrated that the drama does not show what happened to WQ, but at least they gave her a bigger part.
I also really liked that Jiang Yanli was at the Lan Sect lectures. Honestly, I felt there wasn't enough of her in the book for her death to really have the necessary impact. What was there was beautiful--but she wasn't just very present.
In fact, in general, I feel like you can feel the relationship between WWX and the Jiang family a lot better in the drama. You can really feel how close these people are and why WWX feels such a responsibility toward them. There's just a lot more time spent showing the three of them being together rather than just telling you about it.
On that note, I think that the days WWX spends at WQ's in the drama, searching for a solution to JC's core, really helps you understand just how desperate WWX is at this point. I also think it does a really good job of showing that WWX can actually be very scholarly if he is interested, which the fact that he wrote dissertations on demonic cultivation in the book also shows. (I really hate the fanon!WWX who cannot be an intellectual even if he wants it; he only studies if he's interested is all.)
No rape, which for me was a plus
I think it was helpful that there was a lot of NHS hanging out with WWX in the drama. It really establishes his character and you do care about him. I think that if I had read the book without the drama I'd keep forgetting who NHS even was.
For me, Xiao Zhan made WWX a lot sweeter, kinder, and more serious than the book, which in general was a good thing. I don't really need WWX to be nice, but there were honestly times when I felt like he was impossible to know in the novel because he was always joking around, teasing, being smart-mouthed, being sarcastic, or if he was sincere, he was angry. And that's a very interesting thing for a character to have going on! But I really felt like the author also could not really dwell inside his head, so it's kind of bizarre to me that it feels like the actor did, in fact, do so; there are so many moments in the drama where you can see that WWX feels hurt or affectionate or regretful or upset, and you can see him decide to adopt a joking persona. And that's different than the WWX of the novel, who seems like he doesn't decide and can't actually help himself, but at least I know what CQL!WWX is thinking more of the time. (One of the best WWX parts in the novel was when he told Jin Ling he was sorry for the comment about Jin Ling's mother, because it was one of the only moments he really felt deeply sincere, no jokes.)
Similarly, I for the most part found LWJ more dimensional in the drama, for similar reasons. You can see what LWJ feels in WYB's microexpressions, but since most of the book is from WWX's pov and WWX can't read LWJ, LWJ kind of seems like a tree for large portions. Thank goodness that LXC can read him, and that once or twice, MXTX does at least show us what LWJ does when people aren't looking, even if she still doesn't jump into his head.
Anyway, in the end, the characters and relationships in the book are very strong, but so much is told rather than shown, whereas the drama really shows a lot of those characters and relationships. You would think the fact that a drama shows and a novel tells is a somewhat tautological observation, but honestly, I find that many live action adaptations of books are in fact bad at showing. It helps that the drama has 50+ episodes. Meanwhile, the parts that should be told imo in the book (such as more interiority for everyone overall) are shown in the drama. I think you can use the book to clarify lots of the plot and fill in certain character details that are left out of the drama, but you can use the drama to (for lack of a better word) really dramatize who these people are and how they felt.
I was surprised that in the end, I didn't actually feel these two stories were as vastly different as I expected. The biggest change besides the gay is, of course, the fact that the drama is unwilling to let WWX be as much of a villain as he becomes in MDZS, which is something I'll save for another post, maybe.

Naruto is my absolute babyboy, but my fuck, do I hate who he's become in Boruto, and I gotta hold him accountable.
(Like, the naruto antis are ppl I usually scoff at, but damn do they have points about this)
The reason most of us can't stand this show has nothing to do with something as silly as ships (or at least I hope not)(listen, actually, I could talk about how nh's and ss's relationships negatively affect Naruto and Sasuke, but ultimately, it's really not about that)
It's because it messes with both Naruto and Sasuke, their characters and their convictions. How the fuck did 17 year old Sasuke go from hating the system and all it upholds, from understanding that this shit isn't okay, to someone who is essentially a lapdog?? Um, no
And Naruto? Sweetheart, what happened to the promises to both your friends and enemies? Where did your desire to end the cycle of hatred go? Why are you okay with changing fundamentally nothing after promising that you'll turn everything around? Where did your numerous realizations about the faults of Konoha and the Shinobi world and the cycle of hatred go?
Like, I feel as though through the entirety of Naruto, we were constantly beaten over the head with the fact that nothing is okay about the current way of the world, and in the end, the goal was 'become Hokage to turn these things around' ?
And then Boruto comes, and holy shit, nothing has changed and Naruto has entirely forgotten everything his 17 year old's self had seen, promised and decided.
I feel like Boruto just entirely diminishes everything that happened in Shippuden, and that annoys me.
(All this said, I should clarify I have not watched Boruto nor do I intend to. These are just all things I've inferred through seeing clips here and there, and other people's takes on Boruto, so if I'm not getting something right, then oops) (the vast majority of the clips I've seen are sns moments, because somehow we're still getting fed even though they're both married and got kids 💀)
(Antis DNI pretty please)

A Brief Summary of Scotland's Anger
Some of you may have heard that England has blocked Scotland's gender reform bill. Others may have seen the demands for dissolution of the union as a result. Please allow me to sum up the anger as impartially as I can:
Historically, the Scottish hate the English for a variety of reasons: see the Jacobite Uprisings and the Clearings. But this is about modern politics, so let's start there.
Essentially the SNP, the ruling political party in Scotland, have been trying for YEARS to get a referendum result where the Scottish people vote to leave the United Kingdom. In 2014, David Cameron (the then prime minister of the UK) gave permission for a referendum to be held, and 55% of the population voted to remain in the UK. Some of the reasons for staying was the economic stability from using the pound sterling currency and being able to stay in the EU, as well as access to funding from the rest of the UK (the arguement being that Scotland could not afford to support itself without help from Westminster).
Since then, the SNP and some of the other, smaller parties have argued that the initial result of the 2014 referendum was not strong enough, and that the initial promises made to the Scottish people are no longer valid (see Brexit and the recent economic crisis for the big examples, but there are others). Recently, the SNP has even taken the matter of the right to hold a second referendum to the Supreme Court, the highest court in the UK and one that deals mostly with English cases. The court ruled that, based on the current laws and treaties, Scotland needed permission from Westminster to hold another referendum. This has angered many people, regardless of if they want to stay or remain, and this latest action against Trans Rights could put more pressure on Parliament.
Scotland, as a country, has always been slightly more to the left of the political spectrum than England, which has led to many political conflicts where England just pulls rank to 'resolve' the issue. For example, Scotland HATES having nuclear weapons, and the UK's nuclear submarines are based on the west coast of Scotland. Another example is in the NHS, where prescriptions are free in Scotland but a flat rate in England. Nicola Sturgeon (leader of the SNP) had wanted to put Scotland in lockdown earlier than England and had even set up a different way out of lockdowns that was more gradual, but it ended up being watered down into 'Scotland had to wear masks for longer than England'.
Now, the Gender Recognition Bill removes many barriers for trans healthcare, such as how long an individual has to self-identify as a different gender to the one they were assigned at birth, lowering the age at which an individual can change the gender on their birth certificate to 16, and removing the need for a gender disphoria diagnosis. The gender disphoria diagnosis is one of the biggest barriers for trans healthcare in the UK at the moment, as a referal to even get the chance to be diagnosed can take years, and people have died on the waitlist just for a first appointment. For a more in-depth look at the issues surrounding trans healthcare in the UK, I recommend Abigail Thorn's video essay titled 'I Emailed My Doctor 133 Times: The Crisis In the British Healthcare System' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1eWIshUzr8). Fair warning, it will make you furious.
The Gender Recognition Bill was passed by the Scottish Parliament, also known as Holyrood, by 86 votes to 39. That's pretty good for a bill like this, but the UK Parliament has prevented this bill from receiving 'royal assent', which is required to make the bill enforcable. This has angered a lot of people, as it could be seen as England blocking the will of the Scottish people. Unfortunately, Scotland cannot leave the UK without permission. This is why there has been so much emphasis on a referendum, as the result could put pressure on the UK Parliament. England is reluctant to give permission, and one of the main reasons floated for this are the oil fields in Scottish waters.
TLDR: Scotland has always been annoyed at England, and the latest action to block this bill could tip those bad feelings over into full on anger, revolt and revolution.

Now, I only see mindless hate for Itachi on this platform from the fandom activists, awful disrespect aimed at Sasuke on other platforms from the dudebros, and severe lack of fics on him and Itachi,>>>
^You wrote that in a post. I would gladly write more Itachi fics, but after having been plagiarized I refuse to anymore. Plagiarism is a big issue in the Naruto fandom. It's very easily done too, despite writers believing they'll get away with it and thinking those of use who knows our fics inside and out won't notice. Plagiarism comes in many forms, from outright stealing blocks of texts to stealing fanfic tropes to stealing original ideas and attempting to pass it off as our own, to "borrowing" ideas from others without discussion, to even stalking other blogs for reference to what they're doing. I've had a writer steal my one shot idea and at the end in the notes, attempt to explain how they "did it better". It is a huge problem. I've seen more popular blogs plagiarize and act absolutely nonchalant about it. They get away with it simply because they think they can. Until this issue of plagiarism is dealt with don't expect writers to want to post their fics or any kind of writing, here or on A03.
I'm going to sound rude or blunt... Take your pick.
But I'm not sure why you thought you had to take that post personally. Apparently, there can be countless fics on ships and can be churned out every hour, but not on Itachi and Sasuke because of plagiarism. If plagiarism is the reason then all other fics need to be stopped too. Why do people have to draw the line with Itachi and Sasuke only?
This should not be a reason for the lack of fics on them when AO3 abounds with SNS, NH, SS, and other ship fics. Its simple reason is that people don't appreciate Itachi and Sasuke's bond as much as I think they should. His ships are more popular even though the person he loved the most was Itachi.
If you don't feel like writing you don't have to. That's a valid reason. But it wasn't about you. So I digress.

I've spent a lot of time being a bit confused by posts by trans people talking about being worried they're faking it and not really trans.
And yeah. I get you now.
I was doing some casual research to find out when the earliest date I could apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate is (depending on what level of evidence they ask for), and for some reason, I had the thought of "Oh god, you mean I can't change it back?"
I don't know where this thought came from. When I interrogate my own thought process, and ask at what point I would like to detransition, I don't have an answer for myself. There is no point where I think existing as I was would ever make me happier than living as the woman I can be. I suppose the finality of the certificate is what scares me a little, but isn't that the point? Isn't the whole point to try and close up all the legal loopholes someone might use to treat me as anything but female? And why should the finality of the thing scare me? My whole transition has been a series of finalities. I have already endured and bloomed under final, permanent changes to my body. I have already declared myself to the world. I know in my heart of hearts that I desperately want and need my surgery. It's been perhaps my deepest personal desire my entire life. I have been fucking diagnosed with the trans disease.
I shouldn't be shocked at the finality of any of this. And the fact that I am gave me a bit of a wobble. Like what if I'm not really trans? What if all these years have been just some silly mistake or not really me or self-delusion or just talking myself into something and what if I go through with all of this just to regret it?
Well, the alternative is going back to how I was, and I know I already regret that. I know I'm wrong when I suggest to myself that I'm not really trans. Because as much as I hate the way the NHS medicalises transness, they are treating me for gender dysphoria, and I grow more comfortable with what I see in the mirror every day. They boil transness down to gender dysphoria, and I certainly experience that, and embracing my womanhood makes me experience it a lot less. I know that non-trans people probably don't regularly and invariably picture having their intimate experiences with a different genre of genitalia.
Sometimes I have a moment of doubt, but by every metric I can think of, I am trans, and thus a woman.

Hi! Please feel free to ignore this, I am not trying to hate at all! Just curious!/gen Why do you tak care of Rhea but not other vent littles?/lh /gen /curious I know your mental health isn't the best, so I now that could be reason, I just thought that if it was, you would take a step back form Rhea too. Again no hate what so ever!/gen sending lots of love Sorry if this came off as rude or offensive!/gen
Dear Anon
I am Mod E, I dont normally answer asks in anyway on Vaggie's blog. Im just here to monitor the inbox, make special announcements, and block problematic blogs, however, Mod Ocean (aka Vaggie) and I agreed that its probably best that I handle your ask in particular in order to allow you to help you get a better understanding of what actually is going on here.
We know you meant nothing offensive in your ask and that you are genuinely concerned about Mod Ocean and her mental health. However 'stepping back' from Rhea is not possible. This is because Mod Ocean and Rhea are the same person.
Now its a little hard for me to explain. Im going to be using terms generally used by systems (I myself am part of a system) but I want to make it ABUNDANTLY CLEAR:
MOD OCEAN DOES NOT HAVE DID AND IS NOT A SYSTEM NOR IS SHE CLAIMING TO BE A SYSTEM!
IT IS JUST EASIER FOR MYSELF (MOD E, A MEDICALLY RECOGNIZED SYSTEM) TO EXPLAIN THIS USING SYSTEM TERMINOLOGIES!
Mod Ocean has a diagnosis of BPD. One of the effects of BPD is (quote taken from the NHS website) "disturbed patterns of thinking or perception – "cognitive distortions" or "perceptual distortions" " I personally dont like the use of the term 'disturbed' here but that is straight from this website: https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/conditions/borderline-personality-disorder/symptoms/
There isnt a lot of research into BPD and how these distortions manifest in individuals but for Mod Ocean, it manifests in almost alter-like personalities that have taken on an appearance and have histories all their own. They tend to 'come to front' to help Mod Ocean process the extreme emotional disregulation that comes with BPD.
Mod Ocean is my best friend, she has been a massive support in my own journey of discovering that im part of a system and encouraging me to speak to a therapist. Rhea is real. She has her own thoughts and feelings that can be hurt. I can always tell there is a massive difference when im talking to Ocean vs when Im talking to Rhea or Jadie vs when im talking to Vaggie.
So your ask was sent with good intentions, yes. But you also sent it under an incorrect assumption. Vaggie cannot take a step back from Rhea.
This is also part of the reason why Mod Ocean isnt always comfortable handling other vent regressors. They are always welcome to reach out to her, vent and cry and that but when they start getting violent/aggressive towards themselves or her is when she has to step back.
I hope this makes sense and helps explain the situation a bit better. If you have any further questions please reach out to me on my blog @the-hellion-collective and ill answer any questions you may have to the best of my ability.

About team Hebi/Taka and team seven
Part 01
Well, since I'm watching Naruto again because of the new dubbed episodes, I just caught my eyes in something that bothered me so soo much that I just want to split it out.
This post got too long, so I’ll post this in part 01 and 02 > Simultaneously 🤯
Ok, so, about this scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some time ago I thought that the reason why they went after Sasuke (again) was to stop him from killing Itachi because If he did it he couldn't come back to Konoha.
Why? Well, somehow I mixed up some information that appeared in the beginning, that Sasuke was included in that anbu kill list, so in my head if he kills Itachi the numerous crimes he committed were reached in a level that he wouldn't be accepted back.
Don't ask me why hehehe
So then they used an important mission to investigate Akatsuki to go after Sasuke again, it's funny because the whole mission was to track and find Itachi and in result find Sasuke, however all their efforts suddenly turns out to track Sasuke, and ironically, putting Akatsuki on the back burner.
Tumblr media
As a Child, every time I saw those “let's get Sasuke back” missions I got excited and root for team seven to finally bring him to konoha, but today seeing those panels my only thought is “if they did find Sasuke and take him back to konoha, what would happen? What would change?”
Well, first of all they had to fight against him and IF they won then they had to take him against his will and then lock him up in a cage, just what happens in the end of the manga, and then? He would be in prison craving more and more hate.
Sasuke had a goal and nothing could stop him, he would surely find a way to escape again and continue on his path. And this leads us to talk about team seven.
At the classic they had a real concern, Sasuke being with Orochimaru was a problem, but now they face another scenario.
Sasuke had killed Orochimaru and now he wants his revenge, naturally when he does what he wants he will come back to konoha, right?
I think Sasuke would if it wasn't Tobi, ok?
So what's the point of going after him? None.
Something would change if they caught him? Nope.
So now there's a lot of things that go through my mind right now
Tumblr media
Sakura says to go after Itachi and kill him. Because it's what everyone is doing in the ninja world, tracking down those members in order to stop them and looking for information.
Ok, but this isn't their priority. What they want is Sasuke back and if they did it (kill Itachi) Sasuke would never forgive them.
Well, the funniest thing in all of this is that Sasuke and Konoha had the same goal, to find Akatsuki and information about them…
Sasuke knew that Akatsuki was hunting the bijuus and surely he knew that Konoha was tracking the organization as well, but he never thought of returning and taking advantage of the situation and of all the information that Konoha already had about Akatsuki.
The same goes to Konoha and team seven. Instead of showing interest in Sasuke's goals and joining forces with him to find Akatsuki they go against Sasuke's will and try to stop him and the worst part of all of this is that they simply trivialized the whole importance of going after Akatsuki.
Theoretically Konoha had squads doing these searches, but we never saw officials investigations besides the one made by Jiraya.
Tumblr media
A thing that I really wanted to see in Naruto was a hole arc showing Akatsuki hunting the bijuus, that would be really cool, seeing team seven together again doing this quest, it would be a perfect time to develop SS and NH as well and build a decent return for Sasuke to the village.
But no… Team seven just wanted to bring him back to konoha at any cost ignoring all the facts about Sasuke's life. And for Sasuke he felt the need to create his own “perfect team” to achieve his goals because somehow he knew he couldn't count with those who were said to be his family.
A very interesting final point.
This whole need to bring Sasuke back was unique and exclusive to Team 7. For the rest of the village and for the others of the same generation, the importance of bringing him back was a government issue, why? Well, Sasuke is a ninja of the Leaf and with him he carries information about the country, the village and everything else... Every rogue ninja is like that, a ninja who denies his own village and runs away with information that cannot fall into the wrong hands.
Tumblr media
Sasuke never belonged to Konoha, he had no ties beyond Team 7, so why bring him back?
The entire manga was saw through the protagonist's point of view, so it seems like a decent thing to do, saving a friend from the darkness, but what about the truth of the world that revolves around the protagonist? This truth is different and is the reality that the antagonist has to face, a reality that doesn't affect the protagonist.
And as much as I loved the last chapter of the Manga, I simply can't swallow the speech that Kishimoto gave to Sasuke to close the history and his arc because it's exactly what I said above, it all comes down to the experiences and the protagonist's point of view.
Even the speech about Naruto being equal to Sasuke. Their pain and loneliness was different, Sasuke didn't know the weight of being a Jinchuuriki and Naruto didn't know the pain and hatred Sasuke carried.

not tryna start fights lol. i really enjoy the descriptions of your story’s (they’re really different than most nh stories) but i hate reading unfinished works 😭 ive read wayyyy too many nh stories that end up with cliffhangers so i just wanted to know if there’s any reason why they all seem unfinished before i start getting invested
It's just an odd question to ask, is all, and you could've started your ask with this. Think about how your question came off. I had zero context behind your question and it just sounded bad. Like, most fics online are unfinished. Or they don't get updated for a long ass time. Or the writers just update when they feel like it, as opposed to most who update whenever they can.
Some people have family obligations, physical and or mental health issues.
Me? I probably have ADHD-Primarily Inattentive, I can't afford a diagnosis just yet, but I've always struggled with motivation, organizing myself, energy issues, headspace/focus issues.
Does having multiple ongoing fics seem counterintuitive? Yes, absolutely. But also, no, not at all. Because I'm having fun having multiple things to jump between.
I didn't plan to start multiple things in such a short amount of time. I participated in NHMonth2023 to the best of my ability and found out I understood how to write and thus rly enjoyed short stories, after kind of avoiding and not trying for the entirety of my fandom activity. Being in the discord has inspired most of these new ideas and instead of letting then stay ideas that I might forget about, I decided to make them a reality.
It's really all circumstantial how my Ao3 got to the way that it is. None of this planned or on purpose or all that easy to explain. Look at how long this reply has gotten already.
If you're intrigued but can't get invested, there's nothing I can do about that. If you don't like waiting for something to finish, then you don't. You already know what you like, how you want to handle your reading experience, etc.
Writing takes time. Like a lot of fucking time. When I get in a groove, it takes me all day or all week if I'm lucky. I'm more motivated to finish a chapter in single sitting than I am getting up to eat on those kinds of days, and I wish they'd happen more but I can't be neglectful like that. There's chores, there's spending time with certain people, there's my job, etc.
I actually do gotta slow my roll because my husband is feeling kinda down lately, so I'm going to try and be more available for him and work on my fics at a more casual pace.
Maybe by the end of the year you'll be able to finally read a handful of my new short stories, cuz lord knows when I'll get around to completing my slowburns and doing them justice. 😅
But yeah, just don't read them if you only read completed works? What am I supposed to do about that? 😂 Check in again in a year, see if there's any completed works. That's rly all you can do.
