The violets slipped through her hands, like a cascade of purple water washing her fingertips. They turned from soft waves into crinkled bits of paper, decorating her toes like little stars.

I stood in shock; my hands trembling with the sudden coolness the moment brought. The journey to find precious violets rewinded back in my mind, with walking through brambles while facing a jaded sky. Snow fell onto my fingertips when I caressed the pedals, the beauty clashed with the harshness of the moment.

"You didn't know?" She replied, pulling one of the remaining violets from her sandal, twirling it in her finger like a piece of wheat. "I cannot bear these flowers; I am not worthy of their graces."

So this chapter is posted a little later today than usual because I had a full draft written and all of a sudden one of the characters kind of decided to go rogue and take things in a completely different direction?

Like, I'm really happy with it, but it would be nice if they could tell me these things in advance.
