See, I have this GREAT looking Necron Reanimator - Seriously my favorite 40k model ever, if I'm being real. I'm very very happy with the paint job, but I'm hesitant to call it "done" quite yet.
See, it has all these nicks and dings and chips all over it, and I'm waffling on a decision : Do I leave it as-is since the rest of my Necrons are all pristine and un-weathered ~or~ do I pull out the AK Streaking Grime and Rust Streaks and weather it to make it look old and beaten?
On one hand, the paint job looks great as it is - it matches the rest of my pristine grey/purple/green Necrons that have no rust or weathering on them (a choice I made because I figured "living metal" wouldn't rust).
On the other hand, this model has a lot of damage sculpted into the surface already, and the Canopteks are supposed to be the ones that stayed awake for the tens of millions of years, tending to the Tomb Worlds while their masters slumbered. After all that time you'd figure they'd get a little dirty.
Also consider : I'm terrified of fucking up a perfectly good paintjob, but also "no guts, no galaxy" as we say in Battletech.
EDIT : To be clear, this is the type of weathering I'm talking about. I'm not going to douse the whole thing in Streaking Grime like a lot of painters do.
i think it's sooo funny that in the og script/deleted scene dan dreams about the reagent before the incident with rufus. the tragedy is yet to happen but its ripples have already reached dan before the first domino would fall.
dan carrying fragments of his dream through the encounter, a sense of deja vu with such significance that just!!! slips out of his grasp like a bar of soap and is immediately disregarded. but it's there!! a half memory of an echo of an unscreamed scream and i just. dunno. i feel a lot about whatever sensitivity dan has that avoids herbert so completely in regard to the tragedy they're about to inflict.
In this post it’s noted both Herbert West and Weyoun have a body language of leaning back to communicate something nonverbally. In the Reanimator cast commentary, Jeffrey Combs comments on his intentional movement to fake leave, then come back to his partner in this scene. I submit that there are actually several intentional Combs Manuevers that speak 1000 words.
it’s all “support unethical mad scientists!” with you people until we’re a little mean to the things we brought back to life 🙄 mind your own experiments

there’s a difference between being unethical and being an asshole. having said that, op is clearly the latter

oh YOU’RE one to talk with your “generative programming pain response training”. how’s that robot torture working out for you?

you know perfectly well that a string of code doesn’t work like a brain, even when you run it on an android. nice try though!

remember to support your reanimated friends! just because we’re undead doesn’t mean we’re unfeeling. this has a really good breakdown on the issue of mad scientists disregarding members of our community

seconding this!!!

Completely agree that the living dead should be allowed as much autonomy as anyone else. (Though I’m a bit concerned about the robot thing.)

hope this is ok to say… I have op blocked because “a little mean” doesn’t even begin to cover it. let’s just say I’m glad I didn’t end up like the poor guy in the link (;キ_ ; )7
