Just realising most of my grievances with popular bat fanon really boil down to "Character flaws are good and interesting actually and I don't like when you try and take them away to make the character more palatable"

#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#wei wuxian#jiang yanli#jiang cheng#They don't have an actual sleepover in this scene but the vibes were so sleepover coded...I had to get them cozied up.#Late night talks with friends and family are some of the best conversations.#My siblings and I used to have room sleepovers with each other (Actually an excuse to stay up and talk about runescape)#Currently my flatmates and I also have really great heart to hearts late into the night.#Pondering shit like 'What defines confidence?“ and ”Why are people terrified of letting themselves fall in love?"#All that aside; There is a really great conversation between JC and WWX here. They are so close and yet so far way from each other!#Fundamentally they *agree* about many things - but JC now has to play the role of someone more 'mature'.#His temper is reigned in and he had to take a more nuanced approach. Whereas WWX can be far more reactionary.#JC has changed to become someone more mature (or at least he is trying).#Contrast this attitude with the scene *right* after where WWX literally goes baby mode with JYL. Rolling around going “I'm Fwee years old”.#When children are hurt we comfort them with hugs and warm food and a laugh. It's not enough when you're an adult. It's not simple anymore.#WWX is stuck in the past when everyone else is shifting and moving on! It's a depression allegory (and just...actual depression)#But we also get to see how some things have stayed the same. They still bicker about soup. They still tease. They are still together.#They all care for each other very much but they are struggling against trauma and are not equipped to talk about it.#You can't really blame WWX for being so protective over JYL. But JC is right: “You don't have a say in who she likes.”#It may have started as an arranged marriage but *she* is *choosing* what her heart wants. JC sees that. WWX cannot.#The final act of love is letting go after all.

i think this is my fav lumity moment in the finale bc i love how you can tell they've been together a while by this point just from the way amity kisses her cheek without any hesitation and luz instinctively puts her arms around her even tho her attention's on the others

what i loved about the latest episode of dandadan is the way okarun communicates with momo. he's usually so reserved and passive about voicing his feelings, but this time he makes the active choice to tell momo that he needs her to tell him how she feels. he's not a mind reader, and if something is bothering her, he wants to do his best to clear things up. it's such a nice little step in character development, especially since momo pointed out earlier in the season that okarun makes assumptions about how people see him and runs with it instead of actually figuring out if his assumptions are correct or not.
not only that, but when okarun tells momo what he needs from her, there's a sort of reassurance hidden there, too. by insisting that he wants to make sure she's completely clear about everything between them, okarun is saying that it's safe for her to be honest and vulnerable with him. we can already see that okarun and momo have great chemistry, but this moment really elevates their friendship into something more human, more healthy, and it's cute as heck.
#dandadan#they already aren't great w/ communication (which is typical for teenagers) so this is a really mature step for them both#I love their relationship because you can already kinda see something romantic between them but it takes the back seat most of the time#their development as friends is what's most important and it feels very natural and refreshing#momokarun

#fop#fairly oddparents#fop a new wish#fairly oddparents a new wish#hazel wells#fop hazel#fop dev#dev dimmadome#art#digital art#doodles#I wish Hazels parents were more flawed tbh...#Like I get why they wanted to have them be good rep so that young people could know what a good family is supposed to look like#but it felt like every time there was an opportunity to have them do something genuinely flawed-#they would perfectly sidestep it before it even became a problem#I really enjoyed the first episode because it showed a hint of a very unique emotional issue Hazel had related to having a therapist mother#The idea that she has to be mature all the time#constantly living around therapy speak makes her feel like she isnt allowed room to breathe#Feeling unable to express her emotions without someone there giving advice that she isnt ready for yet#just small things!#She feels so pressured to be emotionally mature all the time BECAUSE she gets praised for it#maybe im projecting everyone always tell me I was so mature for my age...#But like I really really wanted to see that from her!!#And then after that episode it doesnt even come up again#The only other episode that features the moms job as a conflict is the one where she wants to spend more time with her#which is a fine conflict I guess but it still ends with her saying all the perfect things#I wanted Markus to be more of a genuine threat too. even if he didnt actually do anything having him be more looming would have been nice#I feel like they mostly forget hes a para scientist most of the time idk.#I just felt like his interactions could have been more unique#Maybe he will be in future seasons idk

Not a big deal to me. I like it, I see all the appeals, I just personally like Rarijack more.
#ask me#anon#if you wanna know why i like rarijack more i just think they're a healthier depiction of a domestic and longterm relationship#appledash gives me the vibes of gfs that'll eventually break up#because from s1 to s8 their relationship and communication with each other on serious things never really matures or grows#they were competitive and petty in s1 and they were competitive and petty in s8#arguably worse cuz in that s8 episode their dynamic becomes so toxic they almost cause a student under their care to drown#both of them have a superiority complex that's constantly conflicting with each other and it never really gets resolved#but with rarijack there's a very clear arc of development you can follow in their character#and multiple episodes show how they'll argue and eventually come back together and apologize and communicate and work to better things#you can watch them grow to like and understand each other. in s1 aj scoffs and makes fun of rarity's work in fashion#but in a later season (after some conflict) aj says that she doesn't understand fashion but she knows it means a lot to rarity so it means#a lot to her too. and that's what love is to me. “it didn't mean anything to me until it meant something to you”#it's genuinely really sweet and i'd argue rarijack /feels/ the most romantic out of all the main 6 ships. through arguing they grow closer#which is how it's supposed to be in relationships that last! you argue to work out your interpersonal problems and understand each other#(which is why it's genuinely kinda baffling to me that appledash ended up being canonically married because they never gave me those vibes)#but it really doesn't matter. they're cartoon horses! have fun with them

he should not be compared to those series that make a 1000 year old character look like they're 8
because chilchuck does have signs of aging, is shown to, in the perspective of others of his race, be maturing
it is OK to ship him with another character!
for christs sake his kids are also considered grown adults
it sucks cause like, real life people with developmental disabilities get told they're never going to be able to express themselves sexually or their partners are considered evil, but they deserve to have just as much of a chance at love as others!
chilchuck acts and looks more mature than my 15 year old tall grown up looking cousin, and thats the difference! appearance shouldnt matter, chronologic age should be the only factor. not only is chilchuck older the adult age of his race, but hes also considered way over adult age in human years too!

He throws a tantrum!#We know from bonus content that he was a biter when he was younger but that's exactly the point. It is a childish behaviour.#LWJ has been help up to the highest expectations to be mature and beyond any childishness.#He is selfless - cold and composed to the outside observer.#It is a false ideal to live by to be disconnected from everyone. You can't be a person if you are perfect.#But by god he was never perfect to begin with. He has a terrible temper and is awkward in social situations.#He's overly righteous and rigid - And so on and so on. Both him and WWX know each other for their flaws first.#And it is not about how other aspects 'make up for it'. It's about seeing someone's worst traits and going 'I can tolerate that.'#You can't ask someone to love the worst parts of yourself. But you can show them and have them be tolerated.#MXTX did not write SVSSS and MDZS's main couples to be about seeing the worst parts of someone and still choosing them-#only for readers to miss the point of what that really means!
