@dianeduane How did I not know Diane “made me cry but in the best way” Duane was on tumblr? Young wizard series was one of my favorites. I related so much to Nita in being the bookish weird kid and especially because it seemed like we were the same age at the same time. We kind of grew up together and saw the same things. I’m ashamed to say the last one I read was ‘Wizards at War.’ I just wanted to say that your books are some of the best memories of childhood and I definitely wanted to be your kind of wizard even if it was dangerous and scary.

I feel like Crow would like Nell. He'd find her pretty interesting. He doesn't believe in cryptids but he'd like running into her drawings in the woods and he generally appreciates anyone who isn't afraid to be a bit different. He wouldn't be a fan of her walking in the woods with no shoes on but he'd simply comment "I don't think that's the world's best idea but alright then" and leave it at that. If he ever found out about her family situation he would be sympathetic (he hasn't had the best family life either) and try to offer some comfort.
