Intro Post!

Hello! This blog is dedicated to witchcraft. This blog will be run by mostly Tobi (he/him) and Escerne (he/him). While we will not be specifying who is posting what, we do have separate views and interests, so some posts may not line up with others. See more information, our interests and practices, and our tag list under the cut!

Information!

We have been a witch our entire life. We started deity worship over 3 years ago. We worship many deities: Aphrodite, Hades, Apollon, Dionysus, Ares, Hermes, Egeria, Lucifer, Loki, and Freyja. We also worship Prince Seere. We are an eclectic witch, with an emphasis on chaotic witchcraft, ritual work, elemental work, and divination.

Interests/Practices!

As we stated above, we worship multiple deities from many different pantheons. We have multiple altars, including a few online ones. We mostly practice chaotic witchcraft, ritual work, elemental work, and divination, but also practice many other things as well. As of now, we are very interested in spirit work and the concept of patron/matron deities, so that is probably what you will see the most. We are also a sucker for candles.

Soulmate

Close your eyes. Imagine you are 5 years old. You’re at a playground and there are 100s of kids playing all around you having fun; you’re having fun too.

Something to note though, is that you speak English. It’s the only language that you speak. And everyone around you speaks German; all the kids, your parents, the other parents, the teachers, everyone. You don’t speak German; you speak English. And that’s ok, it’s not bad, it doesn’t stop you, you’re used to it, and it’s just always been that way. You still play with the kids and the languages are similar enough that you can understand a lot of what’s being said. And you don’t know any different anyways, so you go about playing.

Then one day a new little girl shows up at the playground and she immediately comes up to you and starts speaking English to you. What?! You’re shocked; you stare at the little girl in awe and wonder. Never in your life has anyone ever spoken English to you before, you didn’t realize anyone else even spoke English! So, for this little girl to just come up and start speaking to you, is incredible…amazing…it must be special! Your heart rate picks up and you get really excited, wow, so cool, so exciting! This is going to be so much fun!

But then the little girl goes off and starts playing with another group of kids; it turns out, she speaks German too, that’s cool. It’s fine that she does that, but this is still so new for you and you’re still really excited and you just want to play and talk with her, so you chase after her. Sometimes she will turn and play and speak English with you and sometimes she won’t. The harder you try, the less she wants to.

You get confused because, isn’t this discovery just as cool, new and exciting for her too?

You come to realize a couple of things: although you are really excited that there’s someone else who speaks English, that this is an amazing novelty for you, to that little girl? She’s not excited. Maybe she’s met others before who speak English and it’s not a new thing to her, you don’t know. All you know is that it’s not a big deal to her and she’s actually way more excited and interested in doing other things and playing with other kids than playing and speaking English with you.

And you learn too, that it’s really rude to chase after her, speak English with her. Unless the little girl turns and directly speaks to you, unless she comes up to you and engages with you, it’s actually really rude to just go up to her and speak English to her. You have to wait until she wants to speak with you. So, you wait.

Sometimes, you’ll hear her speaking English, so you turn to her excitedly, only to realize that she’s just talking to herself. It’s rude to eavesdrop, so you turn away and you have to pretend that you don’t hear her. You put earplugs in because you want to respect her privacy and what she says to herself is none of your business.

Eventually, the little girl stops talking to you altogether. And for a while you’re sad. That excitement of discovering that someone else speaks English isn’t so exciting anymore when you’re not allowed to talk to that person, they don’t want to talk to you, and you have to pretend that you don’t hear and understand them. What’s the point of it all then?

Finally, time passes, and you come to terms; you realize that it doesn’t mean anything. That just because only the two of you speak English doesn’t mean it’s special. it was just a really cool thing to discover. It would have been so fun to play and explore more in this world that was just made up of her and you, but your life is still really great without it. You still play with the other kids on the playground and even though you don’t speak the same language you get along just fine. Just like before you met the little girl.

And then you also realize that speaking English is just one little thing, there is so much more out there, so many other things to do, explore and discover. You don’t need to speak English and you don’t need to speak English with that little girl. And who knows, there are so many kids in this world, maybe one day you’ll meet someone else who speaks English. There are 7 billion other children out there to play with, there’s bound to be a few who speak English and want to play with you…right? But if not, that’s ok too. So, you take one last, long look back, wish the little girl a happy life and then you go play with the other kids again, ready for a new adventure…secretly hoping that someone will come speak English with you again, someday.
