Early 2024 Reading Plan
got a hardback copy of Iron Flame for Christmas!!
But first I’m going to read Ruthless Vows, gonna order it with my Book of the Month Subscription. I technically need to read it first since I’m lending my sister my hardback copy of Divine Rivals and I don’t want too many books to pass in between me reading it and Ruthless Vows. So gonna be on a hold a little bit.
And then after reading those I’m gonna re-read Fourth Wing on kindle and then read iron flame. So I’ll keep updated on my timeline but that’s how it’s going rn.
Aware that new SJM book is coming in Jan, but I haven’t read any crescent City books yet- I’m turned off by the tech lmao. So goal these next few months maybe to power thru.

April TBR--
I have a high hopes for the month of April. Mostly because I’m putting a lot of my recent purchases on this TBR, but also because I’m planning on finishing my 40 Books Before 40 project. There are also a few eBooks on my TBR so let’s start with those.
1. The Curse of Broken Shadows by Laura Winter (Kindle)-- I’ll give you the author’s own description of this one: epic romantic fantasy (dark & steamy), LGBT+, found family of assassins, polyamorous relationships, strong female characters, sun/moon/earth/shadow magic, features two other fantasy languages AND sign language, knife flirting.” This is the first book in a series from a self-published author. Also, ‘knife flirting’? Say less.
2. The Black Hawks by David Wragg (Kindle)-- I’m picking this one up based on JadeyRaeReads and her experience reading this one. I don’t know much going into it except that we follow Chel who isn’t enjoying his life as a knight. He no longer dreams of glory. He dreams of going home. When invaders arrive in the kingdom, Chel is given an opportunity. Escort a stranded prince to safety and he will be released from his oath. All he has to do is drag the brat from one side of the country to the other through war and wilderness while being chased by ruthless assassins. Chel will need killers watching his back; he’ll need the Black Hawks--mercenaries, fighters without equal. Prepare to join the Black Hawks. Why does this cover give me The Old Guard vibes? (I’m praying to all the gods that this gives me some solid Old Guard vibes.)
3. The Combat Codes by Alexander Darwin (NetGalley)-- The first book in a Sci-Fi trilogy. In this world, war is no longer the method used to solve problems between nations. Instead, highly-skilled warriors named Grievar Knights represent their nation’s interests in hand-to-hand combat. An ex-Knight named Murray is on the hunt for the next champion. He believes Cego, an orphaned boy who is making a name for himself in underground combat rings, has what it takes to thrive in the world’s most prestigious combat academy. This one sounds right up my alley. Especially the academy setting.
4. Murder Your Employer: The McMasters Guide to Homicide by Rupert Holmes-- The McMasters Conservatory for the Applied Arts is a luxurious and clandestine college dedicated to the fine art of murder. To gain admission, a student must have an ethical reason for ‘erasing’ someone who deserves no fate worse (nor better) than death. The campus of this ‘Poison Ivy League’ college is where you might find yourself the target practice for a classmate and where your mandatory graduation thesis is getting away with the perfect murder that will make the world a much better place to live. I love the tone of this one already. I’m so here for an irreverent and cheeky how-to set in a dark academia setting. (I mean, it involves learning how to murder someone so...it has to be classed as ‘dark academia’ right?)
5. Jade City by Fonda Lee-- This one is a well known and well loved series so I highly doubt I need to hype it up for anyone. It’s also the final book in my 40 Books Before 40 Project. Can you believe? And just over 6 years early too. In this world, magical jade grants those with the right training and heritage superhuman abilities. The Kaul family is one of the two crime syndicates that control the island of Kekon which is the only place in the world that produces the jade. We see a clash between the Kauls and their greatest rivals in a clan war that will determine the fate of all Green Bones and the future of Kekon itself.
6. The Me You Love in the Dark by Skottie Young-- An artist named Ro retreats from the grind of the city to an old house in a small town. She hopes for solace and inspiration, but the muse she finds within is not what she expected. This seems like it could be a haunted house of sorts.
7. Misfit by Elle Kennedy-- I’m trying a different style of Elle Kennedy’s writing this time and going for a romance without any hockey in it. I know, who am I? And I found this in Canada, the land of hockey. RJ Shaw’s mother is marrying some rich guy he’s never met and it gets worse: he’s being sent to Sandover Prep for senior year. If there’s one place a misfit hacker like RJ doesn’t belong, it’s an ivy-covered school for rich delinquents. He doesn’t try to get along with anyone. That is until he meets Sloane Tresscott in the woods on the outskirts of campus. She’s gorgeous and sharp tongued--and completely off-limits since she’s the headmaster’s daughter. If RJ wants to survive prep school and win Sloane’s heart, he’ll need to figure out a way to use all the secrets hidden in the walls of Sandover. Rich people drama? Forbidden romance? Sign me up.

Hentai lookin ass Bill.
A couple more "suggestive" drawings under the cut:
I hesitated on posting these last two so much when I was drawing them, but that was like two weeks ago, and now I'm just numb to it. WHO CARES JUST TAKE THIS!!
I alluded to drawing more "suggestive" billford stuff a while back, and ironically, THIS ISN'T EVEN WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT SKJDFGDSH I was talking about something else I was planning on drawing. This just sorta happened.
I hope you like these!! Let me know if you want more.
oh, and the first drawing was originally rotated on its side, but I decided I liked it flipped around. That's why his coat is up like that. That's gravity babey!!!!
#Normally I never put drawings under a read more#cuz I like shoving my art in peoples faces. But I'm begrudgingly going to be nice and courteous about this#i was planning on drawing more for this post but i sorta lost gas at the time so i'm just throwing these up by themselves#billford#billford fanart#gravity falls#gravity falls fanart#sketchbook#pencil drawing#traditional art#traditional drawing#bill cipher#stanford pines#bill cipher fanart#stanford pines fanart

One of the things I loved about The Wild Robot from a writing/world-building perspective was that it was clearly set in a post-apocalyptic world, but the details were very vague, and you don't even know until about an hour in:
"Beautiful shot," you think, and then it hits you that the whales are swimming over the Golden Gate Bridge.
Abandoned, crumbling satellites and a sunken city. And then when we do see the human city, they freak out at the sight of geese:
Animal-derived plague? Global warming? We don't know. We only know that something has happened. But like the general theme, whatever bad has occurred, the natural world is thriving. An unexpected positive from a history of tragedy.
#worldbuilding#the wild robot#It reminded me of Adventure Time#it's set in a post-apocalyptic world but you only get hints for a long time#we don't need a huge explanation#the story works without it#post apocalypse#spoilers#movies#not jane austen#planning on reading the book now that I know it exists

"jason is a knockoff watered down percy" NO hear me out, jason actually parallels annabeth immensely, sharing SO many similarities with her personality, not percy, in this essay I will-
edit: my full analysis is out now! here
#just adding that I think jason and annabeth are similar BUT they are SEPARATE characters with separate personalities#and i don't think jason is anyone's knockoff!! so don't misunderstand me guys!#trust me ik how it feels like to have jason getting mischaracterized so I would never do that!#when I read about jason the first time I'm like wow he's gentler but similar to annabeth chase wow he could be her twin#they are both genuinely interested in learning stuff. they both mansplain and geek. they are both misunderstood as conceding when they do#they love getting involved in debates and discussions. they both have designed temples assigned to them by the gods themselves#they are both seen as 'scary and intimidating' when they're just softies who need love. they are both overthinkers with too many plans#they are both soft for ppl w silly humor. they both kinda give off an untrustworthy vibe at first bc they know too much info#they are both also pretty suspicious and don't trust immediately. they both love architecture. they both have a 'cold icy' stare#also they're both TALL#I could keep going on and on for ages actually#pjo#pjo fandom#percy jackson#jason grace#pjo series#pjo hoo toa#pjo hoo#annabeth chase

Book Plan for 2024
Shared my past reads from last year. Here are the books I plan to read for the upcoming year. Thoughts? Recommendations?
Last year, I had 20 books on my reading plan and I read 18. The 2 books that I did not finish were carryovers from the previous year. I’ve had to give myself grace as I try to navigate my plans and what I read throughout the year. Too many “required” books make me feel stifled. Not enough “required” books makes me feel like I’m just doing a free for all. This list doesn’t have any real…

Being someone who read Under The Red Hood and came out with the firm belief that, for Jason, it's not about killing Joker, it's about Jason wanting proof Batman would choose him over the Joker (bc shelia chose the joker). Makes seeing any other media where it's all about just wanting the Joker dead is a teeny bit frustrating. to be honest
Jason could've killed the Joker himself, really, really easily. Jason kidnaps the Joker before the confrontation. I can't open my comic for a reference right now, but it felt like he had the Joker for quite a bit before the confrontation. He had him. He beat him up with a crowbar. He had every single opportunity to kill the Joker himself, but he didn't because that wasn't his goal. Make no mistake, he did plan for the Joker to be dead by the end of it, but do you see what im trying to say here
Edit: If I knew this post was gonna get 1000+ notes I would've tried to word it better or something, this was a rant I made on the way to the grocery store 😭
It's not about making Batman kill either. When Batman says he won't kill, Jason adjusts and goes, 'Let ME kill the Joker or kill me to stop me' instead. The test is all about Batman choosing him. The whole final confrontation is Jason's first death again. The parent, The Joker, and the explosives. It even ends with Jason unable to move as a bomb goes off right next to him again because the parent didn't choose Jason. And instead tried finding an option that'd benefit them and (consequencely) letting the Joker walk, again, lol, lmao <-in agony
#the final confrontation was basically his first death again#and YES he Does want the Joker dead#and it would've been really really nice if Batman was the one who did it#but when batman made it clear he wouldn't kill the joker. Jason easily switched to saying “LET me kill the joker” to accommodate#because he Wanted batman to pass his test#he gave a test to dick too. and technically tim but it wasnt the family test it was a different one so it doesnt rly count#AFTER utrh and the reveal and the batarang you can go hog wild about it. i care less about it then#granted i do believe they make jason more scared of the joker after it at some point#i guess because hes a bit too willing to kill the joker and ive heard jason wasnt meant to live after utrh#my watsonian explain for that is he was so fixated on his plan he cpuld override his fear. or maybe the pit. either work#i prefer the fixation bc i dont like the explanation that the pit was the /only/ reason he could get all plan together and done#BUT THATS UNRELATED!!!#dc stop putting the joker in jason stories im begging you please please please. lock him in a vault for the next 20 years or something#it Cpuld be good and i understand. but also. after so long of people that dont know or go for jasons need for family and parents#that love him and he can trust#the joker starts to feel like?? hm. words. a cop out? oh haha its that guy that killed him woagh hes here#i bet you dont even know that jaybin got beat until unconsciousness by an angry mob#while asking batman to save him only for batman to have to walk away#anwya. where was i going with this#i think i got off topic#jason todd#dc comics#batman#ADDED AN EDIT. SORRY. this post has been haunting me it keeps me awake. what if people misunderstand#they cant read my tags where i ramble more depth. thisbis the only option#EDIT EDIT: hiii#removed the sentence abt jason having the joker for several days bc i misremembered some things#go read its-your-mind 's addition instead also#ok no more i wont edit this post anymore i promise

how I hope to read 8 books in less than 3 weeks
how I hope to read 8 books in less than 3 weeks - an incredibly optimistic delusion of how fast and how much time I can spend reading!
Hello! In my third ever month of making a tbr, I’ve made it nearly two weeks into the month and only finished one book (that wasn’t technically on the list!) so I thought writing out a plan of how I very much will definitely be able to read the remaining eight books in under three weeks will absolutely happen (positive energy and all that). Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed Fourth Wing by Rebecca…

Intensive Bible Reading Plan
Most Christians have some Bible reading plan that they follow. There are many good plans available. The important part is that you are reading God’s Word daily. A Bible reading plan is a tool, nothing more and nothing less. I have found that reading the Bible in large chunks is very helpful. That allows me to read the Bible many times each year, noting the overarching theme and structure of the…
