this is why lucas on the line is so important…i wish it followed canon a bit better bc the fact that jeff is also black and he’s in hellfire never comes up and i feel like lucas’ concerns about feeling ostracised for being a nerdy black boy would have some more weight if he like. knew another nerdy black boy

yes!!! i’m so glad lucas on the line exists but it sucks that bc its additional material it won’t be read widely. also, i guess writing canon adjacent stuff is tough, i wonder how much of the season is finished when they start writing?

but it’s so true about jeff though, it feels like a missed opportunity. in the show, the hellfire club members, aside from eddie obv, were never intended to be that important narratively, so jeff could’ve been anyone, but him being black should’ve meant something more to lucas in the narrative of the book. jeff could’ve been another point of comparison for lucas. someone with similar experience he could relate to but not completely understand.

i do think more people should read lucas on the line bc it addresses what the show skims over but this could’ve been really interesting!!!

Jesus Christ, Lucas on the Line makes it tough to support Lucas. He’s so incredibly judgmental of D&D as well as Eddie, who’s actively done nothing to him, and the hypocrisy boggles the mind.
