charybdis my beloved 🫶
also the song is SO GOOD too like every single part of it is a masterpiece in itself I love iitttt
Lowkey best song in the ace grace saga in my opinion. From the super epic(pun intended) action bits to Odysseus reassuring his wife that he’ll be home soon it’s just *chef’s kiss*

You are the first person I found that also loved Charybdis song
Respect for you
(And justice for this sea worm)
OOOOO BRING IT ONNNNN
TILL YOURE OUT OF BREATH, TILL THERES NOTHING LEFT!
I find Charybdis so underrated. Like,..yeah she’s a whirlpool with teeth, but she’s SO cool! She’s the best whirlpool with teeth!

I kid you not I sobbed when reading Gathering of Shades. I think if Achilles and Pat showed up in The Underworld I would’ve lost it.
EPIC: The Musical except Achilles and Patroclus exist and/or are mentioned directly.

Valid. I’d also love sit Jorge down and ever so kindly ask him 100+ questions abt Epic. Like yes, yap to me about your massive 3 year long project please. Yap about the decisions you’ve made for Odysseus’ narrative. Tell me why you picked certain instruments for certain characters. Tell me why you removed certain characters and arcs like Lucothea and Nausica. Yap to me for hours on end about all of the cut songs you have stashed away, tell me what it was like writing for these 3 to 4 years. Tell me how many times you’ve had to check and double check the Odyssey and how intently it needed to be studied for this musical to happen.
Oh to be able to sit down with Jorge Rivera-Herrans and absolutely bombard him with so many questions about Epic. Guys I’m currently about to get my Ancient World Studies honours and double major in drama that’s really interested in literature, how receptions shape the public opinions about said literature, and how people go about making these decisions this like my thing and I love Epic SO MUCH. You don’t understand how much this MEANS TO ME

I know of the 600 Shade theory, but I’ve never actually heard of Hades being the one to release them.
I have heard everyone's theories and I raise yall:

Not Odysseus’ “Maybe you can learn to forgive” line being in the same melody as “ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves”.

Yeah okay Odysseus became a monster in the end but that didn't stop him for asking poseidon to have room to forgive and it didn't prevent him from stopping when he was stabbing Poseidon with his own trident the moment that Poseidon yielded. Polites never really left him. In the end when he was a monster he still tried to meet the world with open arms

So I’m re-watching Gigi’s animated snippets of Hermes in God Games, and hearing so many of his laughs consecutively made me realize that his laugh in Dangerous sounds…off. I had to pull up Dangerous and Wouldn’t You Like just to do a double take.
At first I thought it sounds different because his laugh doesn’t escalate in pitch, but when he laughs in Dangerous, it’s not even that. It doesn’t sound like a real laugh. Jorge is super particular about direction and the choices he and the actors make in the final song cuts, so I’m curious if Hermes’ laugh in Dangerous was also a specific take.
My next question then is *why*? Why does he sound so off?

I keep seeing many theories as to how Odysseus was able to defeat Poseidon in 600 Strike and I desperately need Jorge to confirm at least one of them.
So far the two I’ve been seeing a lot are what I’ll call the “Boon of Ares Theory” where Odysseus is being blessed by Ares as well as what I’ll call the “600 Shades Theory” in which The Shades of Odysseus’ fleet (and Anticlea) are are empowering Odysseus, hence the name “600 Strike”.
High key like the 600 Shades theory more, and I also need an explanation as to why the voicelines change for both Polites and Eurylochus. Why now does Polites say “you can relax, my friend” and why does Eurylochus say “after all we’ve lost and all we’ve learned”? Why those lines specifically???
Actively filing a request to Jorge. Every detail that’s written in Epic is INTENTIONAL.

I desperately need a rendition of “Survive” in Ithaka Saga’s song “King”. Let me hear Odysseus unleash his remaining rage and fury on the Suitors, the only things standing in between him and the end of his journey home.

Am I going crazy or does thw beginning of Odysseus’ part in 600 strike sound a bit like the beginning of Athena’s verse in Little Wolf?
Like… “I don’t think you seem to get it” sounds similar to “I’ve no respect for bullies”…
Who knows I guess.
