[Eng Subs DL] Musical Yuukoku no Moriarty (Moriarty the Patriot) Op. 5 - "The Final Problem"
Hello, hello~! I am happy to finally share with you the finished English subtitles for MoriMyu Op. 5~
It took a lot longer for me to finish than I'd like to admit, but it is here, it is finished~ \(≧▽≦)/ Op. 5 covers chapters 48-56 (+67) of the manga or the last few episodes of the anime for those who followed along with that as well. As the title suggests, it is the penultimate of Sherlock and William's story. We've gone through a lot with them in so many forms, and I'm so glad that the musical gave us such a beautiful rendition of the story. I do believe it will make you cry as well!
Anyway, enough rambling from me. I will be updating the folder with the bonus content subs along the way, but just for extra measure, I'll reblog the original post when they're all up~!

All songs and lyrics were translated by me. A bit of creative liberty was exercised to fit context and some cultural references. As usual, the lyrics actually help move the plot, so I didn’t include the romaji for any of them.
Again, I’m not a native British English speaker, so some terms might be off. I consulted with a friend to help me check them, just in case, but please forgive any mistakes.
As usual, some scenes in the musical differ from the anime/manga for time and fluidity’s sake, so please don’t hit me for things that I can’t control ^^;
There aren’t particularly any triggering scenes here, but please do watch with caution since some subjects and terms used might be sensitive and/or triggering for other viewers.

Episodes Roundup
I needed something to occupy my time, while waiting for the next Agatha dose! So here are the writers credited for writing each of the episodes (mind you, it doesn't mean other writers weren't involved). You can recognise a few names as they also wrote some of Wandavision episodes.
While we can't know the plots yet, I've included the rumours/clues so far, it might help preparing yourself mentally as some of these writers are known for absolutely heart wrenching scenes. The episode fonts are likely clues as well.
Draw your own conclusions, but for me the biggest alarm is the fact that Jac Schaeffer co-wrote Agatha's finale with none other than Laura Donney - who wrote penultimate episode of Wandavision - you know, the one where we learn Agatha's background and where she takes Wanda on the emotional "Road", making her re-live the trauma and heartache. So yeah, be prepared for emotional rollercoaster of a finale!
Ep1. Seekest thou the Road - Jac Schaeffer (the show runner and producer, also wrote the first and last episodes of Wandavision)
Ep2. Circle sewn in fate/Unlock thy hidden gate - Laura Donney (wrote ep.8 of Wandavision - explaining both Agatha and Wanda's stories)
Ep3. Through many miles of tricks and trials - Cameron Squires (wrote ep.7 of Wandavision - the one where the stories are told through interviews with the characters and where we had the big Agatha reveal)
Ep.4 If I can't reach you, let my song teach you (fire trial, Alice-centred) - Giovanna Sarquis (not connected with Wandavision, wrote ep.5 of Griselda if that helps)
Ep.5 Title TBC (likely about the 80s pj party horror with ouija board and possessed Agatha, quite possibly Teen-centred so a trial for the Familiar? Judging by the poster maybe we also find out how Rio is involved - my money is on them being Billy and Lady Death) - Laura Monti (seems like she's a relatively new kid on the writers' block. But she was Jac's assistant on Wandavision and is famously credited for Vision's line "What is grief if not love preserving?")
One of the next three episodes (ep6?) is going to be about the Wizard of Oz, centred around Lilia's tarot trial (Air). Another episode (possibly no.7) is rumored to be Agatha's backstory - so the Spirit trial. And one episode (probably 8, judging from the font) will be Earth trial but seems to be focused on Jen - where they will be in this sterile looking room, like an operating theatre?
Ep.6 Title TBC - Jason Rostovsky (not seen any writing credits, but he was an assistant on quite a few horror movies - e.g. "Ouija: Origins of evil", "The Purge: Election year", "Insidious: Chapter 3". So I'm expecting the episode to be dark)
Ep.7 Title TBC - Cameron Squires (same as ep.3)
Ep.8 Title TBC - Peter Cameron (he wrote ep.5 &6 of Wandavision - the ones with boys growing up, fake Pietro and Halloween)
Ep. 9 Title TBC - Jac Schaeffer and Laura Donney (!!!)
[this is a repost since Tumblr suddenly decided they don't like me using images and won't share my posts in search. You will find this same post with episode images directly on my blog]
Edit: Tumblr has now red flagged my original post that had the episodes posters in it, so it's no longer available. No explanation as to why they would find official Disney+ promotional material so offensive.

#tristampparty day 1, episode 1: noman's land
normally i draw stuff for fandom events... but i don't really feel like it so instead i'm going to rewatch tristamp for @tristampparty :D it's been a few months since my last rewatch, so i'm excited~ (this will be my fourth time watching it...) subs this time, since i've watched the dub the last 2 times i watched. AND also my first time watching it start to finish after completing the manga. i've been wanting to do this for a while so now's as good a time as any!
i don't know how much i'll have in the way of coherent thoughts or analysis so i guess i'll just... do it like i did my bookclub posts? and write my random thoughts/observations as i go :'3 if i'm lucky it will turn into coherency and analysis LOL
okay episode 1 let's gooooo
i don't think this was shown in the manga so this caught my eye immediately - that there are robots helping maintain the people in cryosleep. the fact that there were only five other crew members besides rem, and that only one person is awake at a time barring emergencies, was brought up and questioned by multiple people in bookclub. maintenance robots make a lot of sense, one person can only do so much, even a small crew wouldn't be enough for such a huge ship.
iirc we don't see the other scientists on the ship at any point in tristamp, so i guess they were all integrated into conrad's character...? which means this rem was more alone than ever. and also had less people to fight against re: the experimentation on tesla...? or... hmmm. one minute into the episode and i'm already saying so much lol help
nai being cast in shadow... that's cinematography babes!!!! and the two blooming geraniums...
UGH!!!! this always gets me!!!! the fact that NAI is the one who invites rem onto the escape pod... knives's love for rem compounding his guilt over her death makes me want to eat rocks. i think that combination of love and guilt is definitely present in the original but it's not blatantly shown as it is here. i've said this a lot and i'll keep saying it but one of the things i really like about tristamp is how it puts a microscope over knives's emotions.
"i thought i'd spare her" he says!!! and with his face covered in shadow... this is from volume 2, so it's in part to keep him ~mysterious~ as the antagonist at this point in the story, but the shadow also serves to show us he's not being fully truthful here. obviously!! but at this point in the manga we don't know much about knives at all, and he's very much framed as sinister and menacing. tristamp does things a bit the other way around, showing us that nai cares about rem and then having him do his evil speech-laugh at vash later in the episode... but we're not up to that just yet. anyway.
we don't really get a clear look at nai's face after the pod launches but because i'm unwell i went frame by frame
he definitely looks angry here i think, or frustrated... of course he is...
so as vash cries here i can't help but think he's emoting for both himself and his brother. in stamp and in the manga both. like the lyrics of tombi.
...less than 5 minutes and i've already written so much. okay. enough about knives. let's all look at meryl's face.
>:T
it's been discussed how tristamp frontloads a lot of information, and this specifically has been pointed out already, but the reveal of the planet's name being NML doesn't happen until... the penultimate chapter of the manga. not like keeping the planet's name a secret really matters in the grand scheme of things, but in the manga the reveal was an emotional beat following the final battle, reinforcing the resilience of the people living there. here it's framed the opposite, almost - as the fact that this place SUCKS. also roberto is purposefully talking down to meryl in this scene but it still comes across as a bit clumsy in that it's obviously exposition for the sake of the audience.
i think this rewatch i want to pay more attention to roberto. i just kind of forget he exists most of the time since he's not in the manga, and not someone i ever really got attached to seeing as how he's clearly telegraphed as the Dead Mentor character, there to push meryl's character to the point where she needs to be by the end of the season. i wasn't around to see this happen but when tristamp started airing i'm pretty sure he got shit on a lot for Not Being Milly. but i do think he fulfills milly's role in one specific way; he's a very observant person. i don't know if i want to dive deep into a roberto-milly comparison though... i kinda feel like that would do a disservice to him lol. but i like the contrast of what kind of relationship each of them has with meryl.
the biggest wettest eyes you've ever seen
i just like the level of detail here with meryl and roberto being reflected in vash's glasses. very neat!
*squints* i just wanted to post BDN's wanted poster to lament the fact that he doesn't actually appear in tristamp, and perhaps laugh at nightow's poster again, but the guy on the left... that's the guy from 98 episode 1, right? and i think the guy in the middle is the guy who lina kicked in the face. there's a poster for the nebraska daughter later in the scene, too. the attention to detail is insane, man.
oh. he's referring to knives here. i think.
see, here's the thing. i only just now realized that he might be referring to knives because the subs i was watching previously (the ones uploaded to aniwave) translate this line differently. it's a lot more vague, about how things will just get worse if they don't do something. the dub line is similarly vague. this line is a lot more clear. but i don't know, man. the reason why i've mostly stuck to the dub is because i could tell the subs on aniwave were of dubious quality, but my japanese isn't good enough to tell which subs are the ""most"" correct, this included. it makes a lot of sense that he's referring to knives here, so that's the interpretation i think i'll stick with. and at least these subs are like... better grammar-wise than the ones on aniwave, lol.
Thinking About This Again. okay i don't remember where this was confirmed by staff or if it was just a theory but this was a bounty put out by knives, right? as "this is what humans think of you, as an object you can put a price on, not as a person." it's all been said already by people who aren't me. but i'm just thinking about knives's hypocrisy again. he doesn't exactly view vash as a person either.
...as i watch this i'm realizing i have a lot less to say about the second half of the episode than the first half.
i've seen people say that vash not having any bullets for the duel was on purpose. and that's probably true. i've also seen people say that running around screaming and crying was on purpose, like, it was part of his act. i... don't know about that. he does scream and cry and throw up to present himself as a harmless idiot, but contrast that with the bullet dodging and the disarming of the cluster bomb... he's kinda... showing his hand? especially because he tries to laugh it off as luck immediately after. NONE of that was part of the plan.
OKAY AM I JUST MAKING THIS UP OR ARE THOSE TEARS IN HIS EYES. THIS ISN'T JUST ME RIGHT. he could just be crying from laughing too hard UNLESS...?! also, why am i reminded of vash saying to rem "when you cry, you look like you're laughing." so the other way around would be...?! we know how much nai is hurting here, how much he didn't want to kill rem... and he's laughing... but with tears in his eyes... is this anything. am i overcooking. it's getting late and my brain isn't working at full capacity anymore.
GOD just. he's so young. in the flashbacks in volume 2, the twins look a bit older, i think, and especially since knives's face is completely blacked out in shadow, it doesn't fully register just how young he was at the time... but man. he was just a kid.
ugh, and the first thing we see of adult knives is him playing the piano, knives's piano being a cry of loneliness from his heart... as we know... i'm going to combust. and his... piano room(?) is so haunting with the dead plants all around.
here's a detail that i like in tristamp - the worms are ever-present from the beginning. for the first couple of episodes they just seem like window-dressing, simply part of the environment to give the setting more character, nothing more. we don't learn about the worm hivemind or zazie until episode 4. but it's obvious upon revisiting that this is how knives is getting information about vash's location and also where any dying plants are.
which i also want to point out because!!! in this scene knives says, in japanese: 「見つけたか」 which in the subs is translated as, "so you've found him." it's translated similarly in the dub, referring to him, as in vash. but in the subs i initially watched, the line was translated as, "did you find it? [...] i'm taking it back." if you know anything about how japanese grammar works, it's that japanese doesn't have pronouns the same way english does, so exactly what or who knives is referring to when he says 「見つけたか」 is not actually specified. so we have a potential double meaning that gets lost in translation - knives could be talking about both vash and the dying plant.
...and that ends episode 1. i... did not expect to write this much. also post this before the date turns over challenge failed. i'm tired and i need to go to bed lol.
we're just getting started. see you tomorrow.
#how long does it take one girl to watch a single 24 minute episode of anime? the answer may surprise you!#<- took SEVERAL hours because i got distracted watching vtuber shit lol help#tristampparty#trigun talk#june speaks

Let's talk about the Lightfall campaign shall we? As you might expect I'm gonna be talking about spoilers so be warned if you haven't finished yet!
Right now there are a lot of fans who are angry and upset about Lightfall, saying that it's a step down and that they're so disappointed this is what the penultimate expansion is. Their main complaints are around the writing (especially of the Veil), Strand's implementation, and Nimbus.
I really liked Lightfall. This is not gonna be me complaining about the game, sorry. Also I see the constant reminder is necessary, be nice to the devs!!!! They poured a lot of work into this so even if you don't like it, leave some constructive criticism if you really want to and hopefully the seasonal story will be more your speed! I wanted to just put my thoughts out there.
First off, it was a lot of fun and Neomuna as an environment really hits a sweet spot for me that I just love. The aesthetic design, the world lore, all of it is just great. I loved how there was basically no padding in the campaign, almost all of the missions were tight and progressed the story. Legendary difficulty was hard but not impossible and it was a fun challenge to take on. The Witness was terrifying, and the lore implications are huge. I think it's really great we were handed a "loss" right before Final Shape. Overall, the dialogue was clean and I loved seeing these characters interact.
So that brings us to the first point. The Veil and how the story treated it was a little odd. We never really saw it until the end and no one ever explained how it worked or what it did. But, I think that's the point? My feeling is that, from Osiris' point of view, the Witness wants this thing to do something bad to the Traveller and Savathun knew it was extremely powerful / had power to do something to the Witness. Osiris probably concluded, "I don't know what this is and it doesn't matter, we have to protect it because the Witness desperately wants it."
Similarly, the vibe I was getting from the Cloud Striders is that they don't know either! It really felt like that at one point very early in Neomuna's history, the Ishtar Collective found this big nut and went, "hmmmm wonder what this does" and created the first CloudArk prototype. However, I don't think it went further than that. There so far isn't much evidence they really had any understanding of what it could do, at least not how the Witness used it. So with how many generations it's been and how many Cloud Striders have been passing down this information (since it seems like normal people aren't allowed down to the Veil chamber) my guess is the knowledge has been lost. They know the CloudArk runs off it and that the city is powered by it, that's it. So to Nimbus and Rohan, the Witness trying to get the Veil = Neomuna losing a critical piece of infrastructure. They know it's powerful and that it runs the city, but that's it. They don't have any idea how it works because it does not matter to them. They just know losing it is bad and will probably end up causing everyone to die because that's what they've been told. That's why when Osiris asks about the Veil, they give the canned response, because that's what they know and that's their habitual response whenever someone asks!
So taken all together, that's why I think the way the Veil is presented is fine. The whole point is that we have no idea what this thing is and we're probably gonna spend some time post raid figuring it out. I would have loved to see some line from Osiris or the Striders like, "oh we don't know and we don't care what it does" but I think it's still fine. It's not the first time Destiny requires you to just buy into something.
Okay okay, so now let's talk about strand. This one is a bit annoying to me admittedly because Bungie absolutely hit that 80s action movie hero vibe like they talked about in the vidoc with strand during the campaign. They even had a training montage! However, without the rapid recharge in strand empowered areas it's a class that's a bit tough to use. Admittedly, I don't have a build or really any fragments unlocked so I'm sure it'll be fine once I get there, but the grapple is... tough to love. When im able to instantly refund it by connecting to grapple point it's great! And the refund from doing the melee combined with my discipline is also pretty good; I usually have it by the next time I want to swing. But just trying to swing around generally is rough. I'm going to keep playing with it but I really hope I can figure out a way to just zip around in locations without the grapple points.
In terms of it during the Lightfall campaign, I thought it was used well! I liked it frankly, the rapid ability charging and the slow evolution was fun, and a lot easier to manage than stasis for me. Generally speaking, I think the unlock for Strand is gonna be a lot better than Stasis. I also liked swinging around the arenas and punching stuff, as a warlock main it was fun to channel a titan for a bit! Overall, I liked the way it played such a big role in the campaign because of course it did, it's a huge addition to the game!
Okay, final topic, Nimbus. People I feel are hating on Nimbus in the same way they hate on Shaw Han which I just don't really get. Nimbus is a character who takes things in stride and with joy, because that's their personality and they play the role of the hero for the Neomuni. They need to seem unflappable and like nothing is a big deal because that's what the people expect. Also, they're excited and young! They have basically met a superhero (us) and seen the wild things we do! But they have also been thrust into a leadership role suddenly and without warning. They are trying to keep their spirits high even though they are feeling incredibly conflicted underneath. The way their grief is manifesting is that they are trying to throw themselves headlong into their work to take on Rohan's mantle to escape their feelings. Hint, this is also how Osiris acts and so seeing him caution Nimbus is hilariously ironic (he's getting better! Kind of!) As we see in some post campaign content, Nimbus is going through it (tm) and not dealing with their grief. The loss of their mentor / kind of father figure has really hit hard. I haven't finished all the quests yet so I'm excited to see how that develops! They're fun and jokey on the surface, but very thoughtful and driven underneath.
Which brings me to my final thought. For me, Nimbus and Cayde-6 feel incredibly similar. They're both characters who seem jokey and all about fun (and a bit shallow as a result) but are really thoughtful and deep in their quiet moments. They just want to protect the people they have been charged with the safety of, and they know how important seeming cheerful can be. But with Nimbus post campaign we see the mask slip. We see they're not handling the loss well. In the final mission in the Ace of Spades quest, we see the real Cayde-6, the person behind the jokes. That mission is what made me like cayde, frankly I found him a bit annoying otherwise but that one mission of cayde pouring his heart out long after he was gone really got to me. Anyways this is to say that I like Nimbus, I like the hidden depth and I love their bombastic nature. I especially love seeing what a folk hero is like, the good and the bad. And I don't think their voice is annoying. If you do... well that sucks I suppose since he has a lot of dialogue!
Wow that was a lot longer than I thought I guess I have opinions tm. Anyways, tl;dr I liked Lightfall and don't think it's nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. Be nice to the devs!!!

asoue but one of the lemonberry ice (your choice) dies before the fire
Kam Why Would You Break My Heart Like This!!!!!
it's not that i intended to pick lemony but lemony was the one i immediately had a thought for and i don't know if i have the thoughts to re-puzzle canon together with the absence of bea or bertrand before the fire, SO
well, right off the bat, the books aren't written. barely anyone knows he's really truly dead because they think he's already been dead for some time. lemony is not alive to set the story straight, he's not alive to mourn and remember his friends, he's not alive to help clear his name, he's not alive to reveal secrets about vfd. he's not alive to help babybea reunite with the baudelaires post-canon.
i think canon is different. i have an idea of how it goes but i am concerned it is, assuming too much about certain points. but. i think, if lemony dies for real before the fire, the kids are taken by vfd.
-we know the kids have been photographed (the end pg 107-108, carnivorous carnival pg 141). we know vfd photographs children before they are taken (unauto). we don't know the intended recipient of the photograph, but we know a 'quick-thinking waitress' shenanigans the photograph from being served in the restaurant and into the alley, where lemony is waiting. i think we can say the kids are being watched by vfd (by some form, some faction, of vfd) and that lemony intercepts this particular photograph taken of them. -what we don't know is why the kids weren't taken anytime before the start of the series. -we all also have different ideas of how involved b+b were in vfd after their marriage, but that passage from the end also reveals that beatrice is still involved in vfd work in some way, so let's say b+b were, at the least, Minorly Involved In Fragmentary Plot Machinations, But Definitely At A Distance From The Rest Of VFD. -maybe b+b are the buffer between vfd and their children. -or maybe it was lemony. -maybe vfd has still been watching the kids this whole entire time, just waiting. -maybe lemony has been, when he can, protecting the children from vfd and intercepting a majority of vfd's surveillance of them. -in canon, dewey suggests that the children were taken, just by olaf instead of vfd (penultimate peril pg 178-184). -and if lemony isn't there to intercept vfd's surveillance, maybe here they are taken by vfd instead of olaf.
-do the baudelaires still go to the guardians? hmmmm. -you can make a case that they could still meet monty, re: the debate about if peru was vfd-related, if monty's herpetological society involvement itself connects to vfd -but while we know josephine is in vfd, i have a harder time making a case that she's still involved in vfd at this point in canon. ike's death has shattered her in a way that i think she's hiding not just from the world but from vfd. -but the idea that vfd is shuffling them between the guardians like chaperones...........i DO like that (-mr poe, in the background, constantly trying to find these kids and just narrowly missing them every single time as vfd moves them around: my goodness, this is a problem.) -i don't think this means the kids are immediately like pro-vfd either though, like i think especially going into it when they're older, with sunny, keeps their 'is this a good organization?' moral wondering, even if they might have access to a little more information. -but i also like the idea of kit being their chaperone. -and they would definitely meet jacques as well -- he wouldn't be searching for them. -olaf, though, is definitely still after the kids, and it might even be easier for him to get closer to them, bc he knows how vfd works and the kids are in vfd. maybe even more deaths, bc olaf has Had It with vfd's involvement -oh, some disguise shenanigans, though. they're all using THE SAME DAMN DISGUISE KIT.
-how does it end..................... -i think penultimate peril is even more of a climax. even more, uh, peril. i'm not sure how though.
#I DIDN'T MEAN TO HAVE SOURCES IN HERE I WAS JUST DIGGING IN THE QUOTE DOCUMENT FOR THE END QUOTE#AND. CONTINUED#lulu talks about the sad lemon man#oh this reminds me once upon a time i had notes for canon but the three of them were together and raising the kids#but NONE OF THEM were home the day of the fire. desperate shenanigans ensue.

Audio Drama Sunday - 3rd September ✨
I think it’s criminal to have to work on a Sunday instead of going on a little walk and listening to little podcasts, but here we are 🫠 It’s been a frankly ridiculous week of listening and there’s still so much more I haven’t had time to catch yet!
🌲@hellofromthehallowoods (131) Percy! Going to get Diggory! I think it makes it so bittersweet that he was about to apologise off the bat because you just KNOW that when they meet for real it won’t happen that easily. My god, I could listen to.a whole show just about this hastily assembled Friends of Zelda team. It’s so lovely to have Alice back in the narrative and I care for Tattery Stabs so much!! ‘How much do you like your brother?’ Really cracked me up. I love how hfth takes horror tropes (e.g. creepy doll) and they’re immediately someone new to love. Speaking of someone to love!! Hector is putting in a really good bid for the award of ‘most traumatised man in the Hallowoods’, though the competition remains tough. This experience will no doubt have changed him, I can’t wait to find out how!
🦀 @thesiltverses (31) So many new and familiar voices in this new season and all of them are delightful! The writing and delivery of Val’s monologue in particular was so powerful and I was left cringing in my skin at the callous assertions that she is controllable… did we just hear the same thing? I have no idea what is going to happen this season and it’s thrilling and terrifying in equal measure!
🦮 @malevolentcast (35) This episode is such a rollercoaster oh my god!! There are so many layers of horror here! Not just the fear of the ‘other’ and of what other humans can do, but also the intrinsic fear of losing the self. What’s happening with John is so very unsettling, it’s been so long that we’ve almost taken for granted the way that John guides Arthur . . . what will he do when he can’t trust John’s assessment of the situation?
📻 @monstrousagonies (110) penultimate?! Excuse me??!! Penultimate!!! How am I going to cope without having fictional night folk problems solving my actual real life problems every week?? Panic aside, I really loved this episode. I was so glad to hear the presenter telling the author of the first letter that it actually wouldn’t be unreasonable to kick off just a little. I’ve often thought about just bringing a cat home and seeing what my wife would do . . . (I know this is bad, it’s not going to happen 👀) BUT a CHILD? And aw, yay, what a satisfying end to an unsatisfactory CEO. It was a pleasure to meet station and the MA community was in fine voice!
🌒 @monkeymanproductions Moonbase Theta Out FINALE!! I’m not going to share too many thoughts today because it may not even be out at the time of posting but IT’S AMAZING GO LISTEN!!!! Seriously, I cried so much at the thought of this show being over. I’ve loved it for such a long time and it’s been amazing to listen to it grow and see all the team’s hard work pay off spectacularly!
🧛♂️ @re-dracula what a busy, busy week for the Dracula characters! Marriages, millions of kisses, casual medical abuse, VAN HELSING. What a week.
🧬 Regina Prime (7) Damn, Epsilon has both the fire and the fight! Veeerrryyy interesting that Omega needs an assistant with a physical body… what have you got, Omega? I’m imagining a clone that is 1000s of years old, more mush than human. And the slip up with the number of clones . . . Omega . . . ? Something you want to share with the rest of the class??
💫 Wolf 359 (49 - 50) I am usually not the biggest fan of time loop stories but, of course, if W359 makes it, you know it’s gonna be great. The whole set up of the aliens being unable to communicate clearly because Doug chats absolute shit all the time is just so endearing to me. I can’t believe I’m getting so close to the end!
🏴☠️ Yes, I did listen to the @levianpod pilot again. What of it? Please, please support this show if you can! It must be made. I need it.
🎧 So lovely to hear from @thestoragepapers in last week’s episode of The First Episode Of! I feel like it’s so brave to ask for people to join in on the writing of your show but we love to see a collaboration thriving!! I need to bump this up my to-listen list!
🐬 @patterspod (3) Fiona Caruso, the woman, the myth, the legend. Someone needs to check in on the thriller writers because they’re just not okay… Also, Ryan, you idiot. I don’t even know if we can blame the influence of some eldritch force on these bad publishing attempts, but I feel like he’s going to snap like one of twig man’s branches at the slightest supernatural pressure. Which will be fun for us, at least!
All these amazing episodes, but my ears are bigger than my schedule and I still need to listen to new KILL FM. I’ve been really, really meaning to catch up on Additional Postage Required as well! Here’s hoping for a more chilled week next week! 🤞

The other Magical Girl show I watched this week was Magical Destroyers. Certainly an anime of all time. The actual dumbest plot (all the otaku are rounded up and sent to camps, so Otaku Hero leads a revolutionary army with the support of three magical girls), but an absolutely killer aesthetic. Punk rock, post-apocalyptic magical girls solving problems with the power of friendship and incredible violence was incredibly fun to watch
The girls were great characters, Anarchy in particular. I thought it was odd to start the show in media res three years into the revolution, getting the magical girl team back together, but once we start getting their backstory, it makes sense why we didn't start there. I figured out the main gist of what the Shobon, the big bad, was doing pretty early on (it was pretty forecasted), but the twist at the end of why he was doing that still was a total surprise. Actually, it kept reminding me of the Teen Titans episode with the guy that made everything British
The ending was not what I expected. I get it, but I wouldn't say I enjoyed it. Mega spoilery under the cut
In the penultimate episode, the magical girls get corrupted into the titular magical destroyers and switch to Shobon's side. Reasonable raising of the stakes. Then in the final episode, they kill Otaku Hero and crush the revolutionary army. The "twist" is that in the final scene, a new Otaku Hero rises to fight back against the magical destroyers, who end the series still evil. Shobon only "loses" in that it's not a total victory, and there are still otaku for his magical destroyers to oppress
From a meta perspective, it's supposed to be a message about how media conglomerates will take the franchises you like and wring all the good things out of them, and the next generation of fans needs to find new things to enjoy. But narratively, it fucking sucks that all of the characters I cared about got a bad ending. No one in-universe or in the audience was happy as a result of this story, and that's a huge bummer. I don't watch anime to feel bad, but that was apparently the goal of this show to prove a point

re: your poetry post, can you give some pointers as to where to learn the rhyming patterns in poetry and the like? i only ever see poetry from the ideas/feelings perspective, but ive never learned the logic and structure behind it lol
I've learned most of it from my literature and grammar classes, it's taught in our school since elementary, so I wouldn't know of any books or manuals that talk specifially about it - but I can give you a rundown of how I do it, anon, if it counts for anything lol
Prefacing that this will be starting from italian poetica because that's what I know best: any poem, but specifically the pre-futurism/1910s ones (A Lot) will have some kind of structure aside from just the ryming scheme; The structure I am most familiar with is accentual-sillabic, so for example any single verso will have its stressed syllable in a fixed potision and occasionally a set number of sillables (eg. an endecasillablic metre means a stress on the tenth syllable, usually penultimate, equally to 11 total syllables), but there are also only accentual, or only sillabic verses, common in French poetry (?), all of which count as types of qualitative metre - as well as quantitative metre, which was more widley used in Latin and Greek poetry and which rather based itself on patterns of syllable weight (something that I know little about tbh; I think it's based on the lenght of pronunciation of the actual syllable).
this, of course, goes without even mentioning free-verse structure and less well-known ones.
Going back to the rhyming scheme, that also comes into play with structure in the sense that ... there are just a lot of them to pick from. The classic is the repeated AABB one, where each verse will rhyme with the one underneath (''kissing rhyme'' in italian), or the alterning ABAB, the crossed ABBA, the 'chained' or third rhyme ABA BCB CDC used for terzine, and plenty more! That's not all the ways to classify rhymes of course: you have plain rhyme between words accented on the penultimate syllable, cut rhyme between words accented on the last, sdrucciola with accents on the third-to-last, bisdrucciola on the fourth-to-last... etc etc
Then, of course, come the classifications in stanza lenghts! Groups of three verses are a terzina, well known for being Dante's favourite number (joke inserted to lighten this infodump), groups of four a quatrina, etc -
and depending on the number of single groups and on the type of verses in them, you have further classification as canzone, ode, madrigale, carme, filastrocca, ballata, sonetto... the latter for example is made of fourteen endecasyllabic verses grouped in two quartine, one in the beginning and one in the end, in crossed or alternate rhyme, and two terzine with any kind of rhyme structre.
this of course doesn't touch on the inner things and games of poem structure like the falling rhyme, spaces in between groups, enjambement, alliteration, allegorical figures, anafore, onomatopee, and all that fun stuff! Essentially when you see a poem look for the number of syllables in each verse, where the stressed syllable falls, how the rhymes are put, how many verses are in each stanza and strofa...
#et cetera et cetera#poetry#DISCLAIMER HI. I AM NOT AN EXPERT THIS IS JUST STUFF I USE TO READ POETRY FOR FUN.#[.asks]#anonymous#it's so sad for me that people only talk about the feelings side of poetry as an art form because! What about the structure! The words!#methinks this is why I don't like a lot of modern poetry#It lacks the acknowledgement of ALL this work that goes behind making good verses!#and ofc free verse is a thing but I will be problematic here and say I don't like free verse or free-rhyme. I'm a hater

i've started a little series of weekly posts documenting every MoC i made (digitally) over the last few years:
Week 9: 2022
some old MoCs returning, lego art, 90th anniversary toa team, video game stuff and more Rock Raiders (yay)
this one will be the penultimate week.
remember back in week 2 (2018) where i tested out the differences in rendering between stud.io 1 and 2? i tested out the mecabricks extention for Blender to render some digital bricks.
this took way too long to setup and render, so i decided to not use blender for rendering after that (escpecially after the win11 updated fucked with my graphics card)
another mandalorian s2 set MoC. din djarins N1 starfighter, based on the last N1 set we had back in 2015. i think these proportions aren't good, but a bit better than the official set. (its still too big though)
the Horizon: forbidden west set was also teased/revealed around that time, so i decided to make a diorama with just the watcher (and one with a corrupted one) that would be a bit more managable in both cost and size than the tallneck.
i still got the tallneck, becauce those robot dinos are cool as hell and i want to support video game based sets, even though i am a big supporter of the concept that LEGO should make more original themes instead of big and expensive licensed sets (like rivendell....)
some greebles inspired by the ones on the Icons (formerly master builder) "theme" of sets, also my header image for tumblr.
back in 2017 (week one) i made The Slugcat Portrait mosaic, and i decided in 2022 that i would remake it to be more in line with the way i would built with bricks at that time. i think i improved wuite a bit.
i like the 90 years of play tahu, even if his design was considered to be controversial, so i decided to make the full 2001 set lineup for bionicle. i think they turned out pretty good, but i find it a bit annoying that the maccaroni piece does not exist in tan or medium blue (a dicontinued colour)
anyone remeber Valley? the momentum-based FPS platformer? no? it wasn't really mind-blowing, but i still enjoyed the movement and flow of the game. i also always wanted to try out the Legoland Miniland style of character building. this was the perfect opportunity to combine both of these things.
i think the proportions might be a bit off, but i still like this little desk friend
someone asked me on twitter to send them the instructions for my marble machine MoC (as seen in week 7), but i didn't want to give them such and outdated build, so i re-designed it to be more up to date.
they ended up giving me about 14 $ for these instructions, which made me pretty happy.
i tried to make a micro-scale version of the exo-force set 7701 Grand Titan. i really dislike the way this one turned out.
Lego Ideas had yet another contest. this one was about designing a poster for the then new 21334 Jazz Quartet. i called this one "Golden Sounds" and it is the first mosaic-type MoC that i made where i first sketched it out to kinda figure out how i wanted it to look.
i like the way this one turned out, but i think i should've built it in such a way that the colours in the background wouldn't be as dim.
remember last week when i said i wanted to make more Rock raiders MoCs? turns out i did. a lot too.
this VTOL-style transport vehicle was kinda inspired by those industrial transport helicopters and was supposed to be some sort of reimagining of 4980 tunnel transport. i think it's a bit too clunky and a bit too skinny at the same time. not my favourite.
also there's a modular open container (is that what they're called?) that can be fixed under the vehicle. (as well as the room container that you'll see next)
Modular bases are so cool you guys. this one is inspired by 4990 Rock Raiders HQ and those big old moving platforms Nasa uses. it could be controlled with a motor, has a removable cockpit (with an access hatch) and the platform has a lot of room for modules. like the crystal refinery, the room container, the high platforms, the crane and the crane attachment holder.
here are a few variants for the room container: an artifact storage with workbench, a small break room and a laboratory. i like those and i might do more in some time in the future. idk yet.
my take on the rock monsters. some crystal infested/energized Fauna.
first some bipedal designs (the left one is a modded version of a deviant form an eternals sets) that could be more agressive carnivore types.
in the middle are some quadrupedal guys that could be a bit less agressive and even friendly. Left is a modded version of my SCP 860 creature from week 4 (which was based on either an legendary beast from Chima or a dragon from elves) and the right one is a recolour from the fluffy-tailed Hog from my satisfactory series from week 3
and lastly, some insectoid designs, a kind of beetly creature and two ants, one of them with wings. these could be some sort of neutral (like in minecraft) swarm that might be a problem for buildings and cocky miners.
this is probably my favourite of my Rock Raiders Builds from 2022. it's 4920 rapid rider built with modern pieces that has been overtaken by the energy crytals. it can be fully freed from crystal and reassebled, which is nice.
we'll see another rapid rider next week...
first week last week final week

Secret Life - Episode 8 'Secrets'
Welcome to (likely!) the penultimate week of Secret Life!
As always, remember that the 'Re-rolled Tasks' section at the bottom will be for any task that may not have been completed by choice (aka. secrets that were willingly handed in for a harder task, or secrets that had to be handed in for whatever reason), while whatever secret was the one intended to be completed will be listed in the main list. I will be listening all of the 'red tasks' in the main list as well, until they either have a failure or until there were no more given in their episode. I'll also note if anyone fully does not complete a task, while the colour of their names will also represent which life they are currently on.
As more people start to permanently die, I will also note their placement in the overall game at the bottom of the main list; this will be a numbered list and so as of right now the number itself does not reflect their actual standing, but their position on the list (in relation to each other) will. It should all make sense eventually, as the numbered list will become increasingly more accurate to actual placement standings once more people permanently die. Next week I may also just focus primarily on this list, rather than listing all of the red tasks, due to the abundance of red names. I'll decide next week!
I will be updating this post as more people post their perspectives, if not all uploaded by the time I complete the initial post. With this, we then have...
Bigbst4tz2 – "Summon a mob using an egg to deal any damage to any green." → "Strike a deal with a non-red to cause at least 3 hearts of damage to another non-red. You succeed when they have dealt the damage." → "Go invisible and hit at least 5 different people with a sword within 1 minute without being hit back." (FAILED) → "Cause a player to take suffocation damage of any kind."
BdoubleO100 – "Kill a green name with a trap of any kind."
Etho – "You are the silent server hero. You must protect other yellow players from traps and damage. You succeed if you are able to save a player from significant damage (more than 2 hearts) at least 3 times." *Given a red task after failure: "Get another player to look at an enderman." (FAILED... willingly?) → "Create a damaging trap in someone's base. You succeed when it's unintentionally triggered. If it's discovered, you must make a new one. You can make multiple until one is triggered successfully." (FAILED... willingly?) → "Do any amount of damage with a dripstone (Must be placed)."
GeminiTay – "Eliminate at least 3 non-red horses or all of a player's wolves." → "Mine a big hole underground then spleef a player into taking damage into it." → "Add berry bushes anywhere and everywhere. Cause someone to get pricked by one. You can punch people into the bushes if you need to." → "Cause a player to take fall damage of over 1 heart." → "Hit a green name with a sword until they block you with a shield. If you kill them, you also succeed." → "Build a base at close to build height to 'hide your valuables.' Wait for a non-red to investigate and push them off."
GoodTimeWithScar – "You must sabotage at least 3 red player's bases without being seen. You can hide their stuff, destroy farms or burn things. If you are caught, you fail." *Given a red task after success: "Dig many 1x1 holes at least 15 blocks deep in high traffic areas until someone falls in one. Hide them with tall grass."
Grian – "A fallen player is your ghostly angel, they will secretly guide you through this episode, you must do what they say. You fail if anyone asks if you are talking to someone else. They will contact you using ethereal means to set up a means of conversation."
ImpulseSV – "During this session, you must enter conversations in a creative way. You pass when you have successfully entered 8 different conversations or encounters in a different manner. You can enter conversations as normal, but it will not count towards your overall goal." (FAILED)
InTheLittleWood – "Find a non-red name with at least 20 hearts. Take approximately 10 of them in any way you see fit. If there are none, damage any player for at least 5 hearts." → "Go invisible and punch a green life off a cliff. They must take at least 3 hearts of damage." (FAILED)
PearlescentMoon – "During this session, you must leave conversations in a creative way. You pass when you have successfully left 8 different conversations or encounters in a different manner. You can leave conversations as normal, but it will not count towards your overall goal." (FAILED)
Skizzleman – "Kill a green name by any means. They can fight back once you have initiated combat."
Smajor1995 – "You are a bad spy. You must listen in red players' plans, but convey bad intel to your fellow yellow players. You must give at least 3 significant false intel such as incorrect targets or intentions. At least one of the bad intel must be acted upon by another player." (FAILED)
Smallishbeans – "Fire arrows from an unenchanted bow continously at GoodTimeWithScar until they deflect with a shield. If they die, you also succeed." → "Build an explosive under a high traffic area. Detonate it from afar when a conversation is happening. If you deal any damage, you succeed." → "Build a TNT cannon and successfully hit a base from at least 50 blocks." → "You must damage a yellow or green player by firing a bow straight up into the air. The angle can not be below roughly 70 degrees." → "Take at least 5 wolves and use them to deal damage to a non-red." → "Use redstone to damage a non-red player. You can not hit them with the item, it must be a machine or trap of some kind."
Tango – "Enderpearl into a conversation, deal as much damage as you can to as many players, if you are hit or they all run away, enderpearl away."
ZombieCleo – "@ supergratmonkey: You are a secret santa. You have to randomize who is naughty and nice on the serve. You must give a gift to all nice players and pull a trick, damage or steal from naughty players. You can not do the same gift/trick twice in the session." (FAILED)
Out of Lives:
Mumbo (third out)
SolidarityGaming 👀 (second out)
LDShadowLady (first out)
*Re-rolled Tasks: None this week!

A perspective on Gideon Ofnir part 3
Alright! Last post of this saga, continuing off this ramble about Gideon. This time, I want to explore more about what happens at the Endgame, so obviously spoilers for that. Let's get started with a bit of setupt!
So, Gideon remains as I previously stated until we finally defeat Morgott, at which point several things change at the Rountable. If we visit Enia the Finger Reader, she'll inform us that the Two Fingers are disturbed by this turn of events (the Tarnished being barred from the Erdtree by Radagon's wall of thorns). It's extremely likely that this is Radagon's going (and maybe by extension the Greater Will's) since it's his symbol we see amidst the barbs. The Fingers then decide to reach out to the Greater Will...only to never get an answer. Enia says that "thousands of moons might pass" and asks the Tarnished "oh, how will you manage the wait?". If we venture to Gideon's office after this, we see him singing a different tune towards them as well. He urges us to go to the Mountaintops of the Giants, against the wishes of the Fingers, when before he insisted that any Tarnished was forbidden from entering the Capital until two Great Runes had been collected.
Gideon even says that "the Two Fingers lost their purpose a long time ago" in a later conversation, but before we defeat Maliketh. The point is that he finally sees them for what they are, envoys without a master that have been reciting off a script for eons upon eons. Gideon then urges us to reach the Flame of Ruin, believing that to be in accordance with Marika's wishes. Perhaps he suspects that she isn't the one who placed the barrier at the Erdtree, since it's the Queen who gave all Tarnished the call to return to the Lands Between in the first place. So...why would she block the way? I'm sure he's picked up on it, and Gideon even has some extra dialogue if we return after defeating the Fire Giant.
He's finally made up his mind on leaving the now burning Rountable Hold, but only after he's collected as much knowledge as there is to be gathered from his library. Even now, at the penultimate area of Elden Ring's conclusion, Gideon acts consistantly with how his character has been portrayed throughout the game. So that begs the question, why does he attack us in the Ashen Capital, seemingly betraying his own ideals?
Well...I think it might be Radagon's fault. Many others have already said this, but I feel the need to reiterate what's been said in defense of Gideon. Now, the matter of Marika and Radagon's relationship to the Greater Will is a completely different topic that I won't cover here, but it's quite obvious that Marika rebelled against the Greater Will while Radagon (willingly or unwillingly) continues to hold onto the dying Golden Order. And with Gideon always following the Eternal Queen's will, as well as never indicating he knows that they are one and the same...it would be easy for him to be misled, to fall prey to the very faults that Tarnished before him did, and fail in his own journey.
It's ironic, that Gideon has spent so much of his life standing back and watching countless Tarnished always fail at the very last step...only for him to finally undertake his own journey...and do the very same thing. What I believe happened is that Radagon came to Gideon as Marika, and since he didn't know they are the same person, Gideon just assumed he was getting direct orders from the Queen. Radagon must have tricked Gideon, or re-contextualized Marika's original plans to make it sound like this prolonged dying gasp of the Order was the plan...when we know otherwise. Radagon is heavily connected to the themes of stagnation and absolute beliefs, so it's no wonder he would want to keep the world as is regardless of the ruined state the Lands Between exist in. It's no wonder that Gideon's potential arguments would never have swayed him, because absolute belief is just that. Unchanging.
And so, while Gideon was passing through the Erdtree Sancuary, potentially about to go challenge Godfrey...he recieves a direct message from "Queen Marika". The first directive they've recieved aside from the drivel spoken by the Two Fingers. It re-ignites Gideon's hope, that he and the Tarnished have done it! That they're so very close to the Elden Ring, to finally restoring these fractured lands...but he's told to do the opposite. Direct, clear orders from "Marika" say to prevent us from going near the Erdtree, that this age must last unto eternity. We all know what happens next. Gideon grabs a hold of his staff and seal...and the rest is history. Even more ironically, this too is hopeless. It's very possible that Gideon has lost the Guidance of Grace for going against the Two Fingers earlier on, because he doesn't come back. No matter how many times he kills the Tarnished, we will inevitably return to challenge him again.
Also, remember what Gideon does when he defeats us. He doesn't gloat or brag that he's the better fighter, instead he congratulates us. "My fellow, you've fought well, until now". I think it could be a way to thank us for co-operating, or an acknowledgement of everything we've been through on our journey (sometimes on his behalf). Gideon continues to fight, never tires and stands guard in the Sanctuary, because those are his orders. Because he believes this to be Queen Marika's will, and cannot go against her. And when we finally defeat him? Gideon at last lets his hopes die, gives into despair and says that it's all pointless. No man can kill a God. Not even us, whose progress he has been watching with a keen eye for such a long time. Actually, I think this is where Gideon loses Grace. By giving up the mission, by foregoing his ambitious spirit that drives him and guided him for so many years...the fleeting specks of gold leave his eyes, and Gideon Ofnir dies a hopeless, broken old man who would only have needed to choose his battles and see his dream of restoring Order finally come true. This unrelenting conviction that helped him hang on until we finally arrive...is the very same reason he falls prey to Radagon's lie. Ironic, isn't it? That if only Gideon had held firmly to his faith in us instead of an absent God, we could have challenged Godfrey, Radagon and the Elden Beast together, finally seeing his dream come true?
Well, this is my take on Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing. I'd love to chat more about him, so feel free to drop asks or comments to let me know what you all think. It'll be a while before I post about Elden Ring, but until then, Stay Tarnished everyone!

adding on to the last post, our penultimate page's "my new boss has intimated that he knows what happened to atlas. / which should be impossible. it was all ...it was a private affair. / i thought."
first of all obviously like "where was the 'it was all' originally going?" then second of all no way can the "it was a private affair" refer to [what happened to atlas] re: that atlas was shot & killed, given that that is an entirely public affair such that this random guy gracie who's only ever dealt with marigold has heard of it. "it was a private affair" has to refer to the circumstances that led to atlas' death, with that general theory being "yeah it was a private affair in that atlas's wife had him killed" while mordecai's saying no, it wasn't that, but it was still a private affair. so not the like backup theory that it simply must've stemmed from business risks
so it's like okay sure seems like it had to do with mitzi. with, again, the one discussion between her & mordecai featuring the consecutive remarks "not to discount your culpability, of course. that much is established" "what is it you even want from me? reassurance that it's still my fault...so you can continue feeling justifed in destroying what i have left?" their flawless drama on this page thank you icons. furthermore hell i'll throw "partial" out the window, how about they both agree that the Private Affair leading to atlas's death is somehow fully mitzi's fault. which, what would the details be, and then how would atlas be in on "oh okay guess i have to die" b/c mordecai would only be involved for atlas's sake / on his request & would only now not actually be interested in completely getting back at mitzi in whatever ways Also for atlas's sake. if atlas dies on mitzi's behalf basically, i don't think mordecai could reconcile [act against mitzi's interests] in the wake of that (in that mordecai totally was the one to kill atlas) and i think we can all agree that his sabotaging the munitions, "reasoning" with viktor, even supposedly threatening mitzi about "if i'm asked to divert my professional attentions to you again" is all about for real Preferring to be put in direct conflict with lackadaisy, certainly not viktor, even mitzi
still suspecting it has to do with "mitzi saw impending divorce (or too great a risk of it. or otherwise being cut off from the means with which she saw her future maintained) & took it upon herself to secure some security kind of like the [you just robbed our last friend in the world] recent goings on that'll probably also be a problem" though of course i'm not sure what could have happened in that realm that atlas would go "guess i'll die" about, with mordecai getting to know what this real Private Affair was & still agreeing to shoot atlas....then attending his funeral, not being able to stand working at lackadaisy still, not actually wanting to destroy it or have anyone else do so or have to kill his former partner in crime
as usual, we're going pondering
#mitzi and mordecai murder mystery#lackadaisy#don't worry someone bad at solving mysteries is on the case#but i dunno i think some headway is made lol

10 First Lines
Tagged by @sallysavestheday; thank you! I feel fortunate to get tagged in this one pretty regularly by writer friends, but it's fun to revisit every time. So - the first lines of my 10 most recent fics, looking for patterns . . .
It strikes me that this is an interesting question, actually, because I've written quite a few ficlets recently that I haven't put up, and I wonder if the ficlets are different from longer stories. So I think what I'll do is the first lines of the four most recent published stories, as I think those are the only things I've posted since I last did this, and then the last six ficlets, and we'll see what happens.
The Force is at one with the universe. (from Balance)
Birdsong eased Legolas from sleep to wakefulness: weaving into his dreams like the voice of a guide from one state to the other, leading him gently along a wooded path and out towards the eaves of the forest. (from a published ficlet)
Being the leader of a pirate band was not always the most lucrative position. (from The Rewards of Optimism)
Anduril II was, as planets went, a good place to lie low. (from Here and Now, and yes I did name a Star Wars planet after Aragorn's sword)
Every time he wakes up, Obi-Wan has to adjust to reality anew. (unpublished ficlet the last)
It was not the last time Aayla would walk through the palace of Theed, but it felt like it. (unpublished ficlet the penultimate)
“Breathe.” (unpublished ficlet the antepenultimate)
“It’s just not – ‘s’jus’not” – Anakin pawed at the table, rocking slightly back and forth as if for emphasis, “not fair.” (unpublished ficlet, but I am going to post this one eventually because I'm so amused by it)
“Come on, Obi-Wan.” (unpublished ficlet)
Rie was quiet this evening. (unpublished ficlet that I may or may not post as its own work eventually)
There's only one LOTR fic on this list, but it does crack me up how immediately obvious the stylistic difference is. I've been writing outside LOTR for so long now that sometimes I despair over the quality of my writing, but it's actually just because I'm a fic chameleon and LOTR fandom has such a distinctive flowery prose style. I miss it a lot, but unfortunately it's not where the brain-on-fire is happening right now. :( Still, it's very very fun to slip back into when I can. Like a comfy bathrobe.
Like sallysavestheday before me, I am big on the "in medias res" short first line, apparently. (I almost always follow it up with much more context-heavy explanation.) Dialogue, mantras, and quips abound!
Tagging @tathrin, @katajainen, @unnamedelement, and anyone else who wants to play!

okay, I updated chapter 4 of keeping it quiet and posted chapter 5 of the roadtrip fic!
I think tomorrow, I'm going to work on the first section of the next re-write chapter at work and then try and finish writing the penultimate chapter of the roadtrip fic!
