Dude, relax. As fun as internet drama is, this is literally never going to become mainstream. Ever. It's never going to be okay to wear blackface in public, it's never going to be okay to publicly call yourself " transautistic. As hurtful as this community is, it's small. And it really only exists here on tumblr. You're going to be okay, and just because they don't understand what's wrong with their beliefs doesn't mean they wont grow out of it eventually.

For anyone who needs to hear it, being racist does not require racist intentions. "They can't be racist because they just didn't know any better!" just... isn't how it works.

The whole race change/ethnicity change thing going on in subliminal/reality shifting/manifestation communities is racist, because it's about fetishizing and appropriating from another (often marginalized) group.

Obviously, don't dogpile children involved in this with hate, because kids generally lack the context to understand how and why these things are a problem. That said - kids do need to be educated about racism in a calm and compassionate manner, because they are still absolutely capable of perpetuating it whether they mean to or not.

in case you're wondering how tiktok is doing, theres a new trend called RCTA, meaning 'race change to another' in which people 'identify' as a different race than the one they're born as, and manifest/change their appearance and habits to belong to another race. apparently its been going on for like a year but i've only seen this now.

They're basically the same thing, just two different communities!

RCTA is typically on Tiktok, and ethnicity changes, especially East Asians. It's often minors. Unfortunately though, the community is full of bait.

Transracials don't have a specific platform, but I see the label used the most on Reddit probably? It's more often transitions like black to white or white to black, it has a lot less baits, and it's mostly adults. However, the term itself is a bit problematic, as it already has a meaning.

Both are people changing their races and/or ethnicities, and there are some overlaps between the two, as well as other communities transitioning race, such as the diarace community here on Tumblr. We all have the same identity, it just depends on how and where you prefer to express it! Hope this helps :))

yes. yes we're having this conversation. I've been asking this question for years and never heard an actual valid answer why race and nationality can be appropriated but not sex/gender.

both are bio-social constricts. you're born with specific sex/race. females and males have biological differences like genitalia, bone structure, hormones. same with nationalities.

you're raised as specific sex/race. females are raised in a patriarchacal culture as caregivers, someone who suppose to have more intuitive than logical mind, who suppose to be soft and silent most of the time while males are strong leaders, someone who can take as much place as they want, think more about money and job than the family. nationalities (more than races) have their own culture that we all grew up in. folklore, morality norms, religion, clothing, cooking etc.

so how does a male having no experience of what it's like to be a woman in a patriarchal society or having biology of a man can call himself woman. but for example i'm being russian who's never lived or just in general experienced indonesian culture cant call myself indonesian.
