Colorado Club Q shooting: Attacker sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty
The attacker who killed five people at an LGBT nightclub in Colorado last year has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to murder and attempted murder. Victims called Anderson Lee Aldrich, 23, a "coward" and a "monster" for the rampage at Club Q in Colorado Springs on 19 November 2022. The shooting was stopped by club-goers, who subdued the attacker until police arrived. The victims who were killed were Daniel Aston, 28; Derrick Rump, 38; Kelly Loving, 40; Ashley Paugh, 34; and, Raymond Vance, 22. The attack left 17 others wounded. As part of a plea deal, the attacker was sentenced to five consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, and 46 consecutive 48-year sentences for the attempted murders, in addition to pleading "no contest" to charges of bias-motivated crimes. "When you commit a hate crime, you are targeting a group of people for their simple existence," Judge Michael McHenry said. "The sentence in this court is that such hate will not be tolerated." Judge McHenry added that he believes Aldrich's actions "reflect the deepest malice of the human heart". "And malice is almost always born of ignorance and fear," Judge McHenry added. On July 16, 1990, the trial against Judas Priest began, for the event that occurred on December 23, 1985, when the young Raymond Belknap, 18, and James Vance, 20, starred in one of the bloodiest stories of the time.
Both friends spent six hours drinking, smoking weed and listening to Judas Priest's Stained Class record. After that, the young men took a shotgun and decided to commit suicide. Belknap died instantly, while Vance survived, though losing much of his face before passing in 1988. The defense of families soon found a culprit: Judas Priest and his subliminal messages that incited violence.
Victims' relatives sued CBS Records for $6.2 million in damages. Five years later, in August 1990, the trial's sentence sowed high global expectation as it would create jurisprudence, affecting other bands whose lyrics were targeted for their aggression. “It’s a very, very interesting subject, belonging to psychology. But I had no idea. I was just a fucking lead singer of a heavy metal band. We were baffled by some of the things that came out of that courtroom,” Halford added.
In their favor, the band had the result of other trials where musicians were shielded by enforcing the First Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees free speech in the United States. Despite that, years earlier, Judge Jerry Whitched had signed a sentence in 1988 explaining that the First Amendment did not protect them from their messages.
Halford recalls all that month that they had to move to America. “We were in court from 9:00 to 17:00 hours, every day for a month. We're staying outside Reno to get away from the press. (... ) There we were wondering why are we here? We are British metal musicians and we are going to have to defend our music and our fans about the absurd, ridiculous accusations that we put those kinds of messages in our music to kill them,” the artist reported. Nearly 30 days later, on August 24, 1990 Judas Priest was acquitted of office.
In a 100-page sentence and with more than 40 witnesses consulted, Judge Whitched ruled that families could not prove the hidden subliminal messages. Today, the musician reveals: "I really wanted to go to the mothers and give them a hug, tell them 'I'm sorry for the loss of their children.' "Let's have coffee and talk about this," but he avoided doing it because there was a whole network of people behind them, "a kind of infiltration of extreme Christian groups urging them to proceed with the case."
About the trial itself, Halford claimed he and his teammates felt relieved, albeit disappointed. "(The judge) didn't say resoundingly 'what the prosecution was suggesting didn't happen', but basically said: "Look, this is still a foggy area, this band didn't put these words in the song and those words didn't create this tragedy." (... ) The whole thing of subliminal messages was left in limbo. It would be awful to think that this could happen again, but we just have to wait,” he concluded.

Lucy in Beverly Hills
Part 2 ~ The Episodes
Tumblr media
'Thank God I'm doing "Lucy" and thanks for "The Beverly Hillbillies", "Dick Van Dyke", and the rest.' ~ Lucille Ball, November 4, 1963
~ Parallel Universes ~
Tumblr media
Sometimes hillbillies turned up on Lucycoms - just not necessarily Beverly Hillbillies. Lucille Ball often blacked out her teeth and deepened her voice to play backwoods type characters.
Tumblr media
In "Lucy and Tennessee Ernie Ford" Homer (Ernie Ford) and his family walk into a palatial penthouse and “The Lucy Show” suddenly feels very much like an episode of “The Beverly Hillbillies”.  It is very likely that “The Lucy Show” cast Roy Roberts as the much-anticipated Mr. Cheever after seeing him play banker Mr. Cushing on "The Beverly Hillbillies". Robert Easton (who plays Iffie on "The Lucy Show") appeared in both the TV series and the 1993 film adaptation of “The Beverly Hillbillies.”
Tumblr media
"Turkey Day" (S2;E4) presents what appears to be stereotypical Native American characters (aka "Indians") who are really just actors on a gig. On "Hillbillies" the faux 'Indians' are played by Benny Rubin and George Suwaya, two performers who were also seen on "I Love Lucy." Lucy's "The Indian Show" (1953) featured Ray Kellogg and Frank Gerstle as the pair. in both cases, the 'white' characters (Mrs. Drysdale / Lucy Ricardo) indulge in broken English and use now-offensive terms in a humorous context.
Tumblr media
"Pygmalion and Elly" (S1;E10) riffs on the George Bernard Shaw play Pygmalion (filmed in 1938), which was the basis for the 1956 musical My Fair Lady (filmed in 1964). Both play and musical deal with the transformation of a lowly woman into the epitome of beauty and class. In 1962 Sonny Drysdale sets to remake Elly from a hillbilly into a woman of society. In 1972, Lucy transformed wallflower Annie Whipple (Ruth Buzzi) into a brazen showgirl on "Here's Lucy." This was Ball's second take on the story, having previously produced "My Fair Lucy" (1965) on "The Lucy Show."
Tumblr media
In 1964, the Hillbillies went on location to Marineland of the Pacific. But they weren't the only only ones. A year later, "The Lucy Show" also shot on location at the marine park, kicking off the show's 'move' to California. CBS had previously shoots at Marineland for “The Munsters”. Coincidentally, Sid Gould, Gary Morton's cousin and a bit player in 45 episodes of “The Lucy Show,” played the Munsters' Marineland tour guide.
Tumblr media
"Dog Days" (S6;E27) trots out most all of Frank Inn's canine cast - and then some. Dozens of dogs were also involved in "Lucy and Viv Learn Judo" (1963). Prominent among Elly's pooches is Lord Nelson, the sheep dog who played Mr. Mooney's pet on "The Lucy Show."
Tumblr media
1963's "The Clampetts in Court" (S1;E32) finds the family being sued by the Johnsons (Murvyn Vye & Kathleen Freeman) who claim to have been injured in an auto accident caused by Jed. They are faking, of course. In addition to Vye and Freeman, the episode features "Lucy" regulars Roy Roberts and Bert Stevens. Similarly, in a 1972 episode of "Here's Lucy," the Carters find themselves in court when a dancer and his unscrupulous agent (Jim Bates & Jesse White) claim injuries from Lucy's negligence - until Lucy and Harry spy him dancing up a storm with an undercover Kim.
Tumblr media
Elly Mae's affection for her 'critters' is not unlike Wayne Newton's on "The Lucy Show" and "Here's Lucy". In both episodes that the singer appears in (as himself), he is surrounded by a variety of barnyard animals. Lucy and Donna Douglas ignored the old show-business axiom: "Never work with children or animals."
Tumblr media
"Jed and the Countess" (S3;E26) introduced Jean Willes as the Countess Maria. While she made only one appearance, Countess Henri Gaston Armand Jean-Louis Philippe Framboise Le Cul-de-Sac  (aka Rosie Hannigan) played by Ann Sothern made seven appearances on "The Lucy Show" in 1965. Burt Mustin played Countess Maria's chauffeur. Mustin played Old Uncle Joe on two episodes of "The Lucy Show." Countess Framboise flirted with Mr. Mooney the same way Countess Maria flirted with Jed. Willes was seen in two films with Lucille Ball as well as an episode of "Here's Lucy."
Tumblr media
The Commerce Bank of Beverly Hills and The Westland Bank were the banks featured (respectively) on "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "The Lucy Show."
Tumblr media
When "Elly Becomes a Secretary" (S1;E35), Millburn Drysdale is guest speaker at the National Bankers Convention. Two years later, in 1964, Vinnie Meyers (Max Showalter) takes over for Mr. Mooney while he is away at a banker's convention in Bridgeport on "The Lucy Show." Meyers is said to be from the Jamestown (NY) branch of Mr. Mooney's bank.
Tumblr media
In a 1967 episode of "Here's Lucy," Mrs. Carmichael is volunteered as a date for the 90 year-old president of the bank (Dennis Day) so he can attend the Annual Bankers Banquet. Naturally, she disguises herself as a little old lady and finds that although he is old, he is still very interested in the opposite sex!
Tumblr media
"The Clampetts Play the Rams" (S4;E7) tackles two hot topics of the day: Football and Color Television. Lucycoms were no stranger to pigskin plots, the LA Rams in particular. The entire team was featured in the 1949 Lucille Ball film Easy Living. Other mentions include: "The Football Game" (1950), Lucy is a Referee" (1962), "Lucy The Skydiver" (1970), and "Lucy and Aladdin's Lamp" (1971).
Tumblr media
Although not played by Stretch (aka Duke), Lucy Ricardo briefly encountered a Basset Hound named Rocky aboard the S.S. Constitution in 1956. Lonely, she briefly considers the dog as a ping pong partner!
Tumblr media
"The Little Monster" (S5;E29) introduces banker Drysdale's obnoxious nephew, Little Millby, played by Teddy Eccles. A year earlier on "The Lucy Show," banker Mooney's unruly nephew Wendell, played by Jay North, visits his uncle Theodore in "Lucy The Robot" (1965). North is best remembered for playing cherubic menace named Dennis on his own sitcom. Coincidentally, Eccles played Arnold Mooney, banker Mooney's youngest son, on a 1964 episode of "The Lucy Show."
Tumblr media
The Clampetts found themselves in England on several occasions. Most of their adventures were filmed in Hollywood, but the shows did include some location shooting with the principal cast, including of Buckingham Palace, a location visited by Lucy and Ethel in 1955. On "I Love Lucy," however, the Palace was recreated at Desilu. In 1966, Lucy Carmichael went to London in a special titled "Lucy in London." This time Ball and company actually visited England. Both the Clampetts and Mrs. Carmichael flew Pan American Airlines. Lucy Carter went to London in 1971 as traveling companion to talk show host David Frost. Once again Pan Am carried the characters across the pond. In return, stock footage of one of their jets was used, but viewers never saw anything more than Hollywood recreations of the interior of the jet and Frost's London TV studio. Faversham!
Tumblr media
In "Race for the Queen" (S2;19) in 1964, Miss Jane competed with Elly Mae (and Granny!) for the titled Queen of Beverly Hills. In 1970, Lucy Carter competed with Carol Krausmeyer for the title of Secretary Beautiful. Both pageants featured celebrity judges: Bob Cummings on "Hillbillies" and Robert Alda on "Lucy". Naturally, and somewhat regrettably, both contests included swimsuit competitions!
Tumblr media
In "Clampett City General Store" (S3;E3) Granny gets cast as Cleopatra in Mammoth Pictures' new epic. A year earlier, in 1963, Lucy Carmichael played Cleopatra for the Danfield Community Players. In both scripts, Theda Bara, who played Cleopatra in 1917, and the 1963 Liz Taylor epic are mentioned. Neither scripts acknowledge the 1934 Cecil B. DeMille epic starring Claudette Colbert.
Tumblr media
A bus tour of Beverly Hills is part of "Dr. Jed Clampett" (S3;E5) and a 1955 episode of "I Love Lucy" titled "The Tour". Both feature second unit film footage of a tour bus driving through the palm-lined streets. On the bus, an obnoxious woman is aching to get off, despite the warnings of the bus driver. In "Dr. Jed Clampett", that woman is the mother of a tap dancing prodigy and the home is that of movie studio owner Jed Clampett. In "The Tour," that woman is Lucy Ricardo, and the home is that of movie star Richard Widmark.
Tumblr media
In "Jed the Movie Mogul" (S3;E1), TV viewers (and the Clampetts) get a preview of a scene from the upcoming Universal film Send Me No Flowers. The scene features Rock Hudson and Doris Day and is shown to the Clampetts as dailies from a film being shot at Jed's Mammoth Studios. On a 1955 episode of "I Love Lucy" titled "Lucy and the Dummy" the host of the MGM executive show introduces a clip from their upcoming movie musical Guys and Dolls. After the first airing, the clip was removed from the syndicated print, while Send Me No Flowers remains part of "The Beverly Hillbillies" to this day. That same season, Lucy Ricardo met Rock Hudson on "In Palm Springs." BTW, both films were released in color, but seen on television shows filmed and aired in black and white.
Double Trouble
With so many episodes and so many seasons, it was inevitable that "Hillbillies" and "I Love Lucy" shared the same titles.
"The Ballet" (S3;E10) of the "Beverly Hillbillies" concerns Jed financially rescuing the Los Angeles ballet. Leon Belasco played the ballet master. He was seen on several episodes of "The Lucy Show," often in the context of classical music. "The Ballet" (S1;E10) of "I Love Lucy" has Lucy learning ballet to get into Ricky's act. Mary Wickes played the ballet mistress. Wickes played social climber Adaline Ashley on a 1967 episode of "Hillbillies."
"The Diner" (S6;E19) of "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "The Diner" (S3;E27) of "I Love Lucy" have more than titles in common. They both concern the main characters purchasing a diner. Jethro named his eatery The Happy Gizzard. The feuding Ricardos and Mertzes divide their diner. One half is named A Little Bit of Cuba, and the other side is named A Big Hunk of America.
~ Epilogue: Y'all Come Back Now!
Tumblr media
When the Clampetts made the cover of TV Guide in November 1962, it was Lucille Ball who got top billing - with a line over the masthead promoting her TV special with Danny Kaye. "The Beverly Hillbillies" made the cover nine times - while Lucille Ball reigned as queen of the Guide with 39 covers.
Tumblr media
"Return of the Beverly Hillbillies" (1981) featured Lucy regulars Lurene Tuttle as Mollie Heller as Charles Lane as Chief, both of whom were in the original series. Lucille Ball never presented a 'reunion' show as such, she simply reinvented her Lucy character with a new last name, just as she did in 1986's short-lived "Life With Lucy."
Tumblr media
In addition to comic books, both shows were novelized for young readers.

Vancian Casting
One of the key mechanics of D&D is Vancian spellcasting where the spellcasters have a certain number of "spell slots" that they can prepare in a given day. Magic Users (the precursors to wizards, warlocks, and sorcerers) would "memorize" spells and the Clerics (and later Paladins) would "pray" for spells. Later, druids and rangers would be added which would also pray for spells.
This was one of my biggest stumbling blocks for getting D&D magic because it didn't make sense to me that you just stopped knowing something because you used it once. And while I get the idea of becoming tired, the spell slot system was too rigid to represent how exhaustion works.
The Concept Broken Down
This is called Vancian magic because it is based on the Dying Earth novels by Jack Vance. None of which I've read, which probably contributes to my just not meshing well with Vancian casting.
Tumblr media
In the series, magic was released by using magical words and the human mind could only hold a limited number of syllables in mind at a time and using them would wipe the knowledge from their mind. So the wizards would have to study their tomes everyday to regain their ability to perform magic. This mechanic was carried over to priests save that they would begin the day by asking their god for specific miracles. In both cases, the spellcaster needed to pick specific spells and couldn't change over to different ones if they decided that they didn't need a prepared spell after-all.
Raymond Feist, the novelist who created the Midkemia setting and wrote the Riftward novels, did some earlier work on D&D and refined this narrative into the idea that spells were long rituals but wizards had eventually built in a cutoff at the end where they could leave a spell unfinished save for a word or two. They would then have that spell basically just hanging on their word to release. Mechanically similar, though the narrative is different.
Tumblr media
I have read some of that series and his approach to Vancian casting was the first one that made some sense. It accounted for why you "forgot" a spell. You didn't, you just expended the ritual and didn't have time to set it up again. And it explained why you had to prep spells ahead of time. Again there would be no time to do the ritual on the fly. However, it still didn't account for why the spell slots were rigidly structured on a level basis. And I still felt that surely you could do something with all that raw power even if you couldn't shape something intricate.
My Epiphany
What finally made the idea of magic slots work for me ... sort of ... is the video game Nioh 2. But even here there aren't slots, there's a "capacity" and each technique uses up a certain number of points of that capacity. But that's not the big "ohhh" moment for me here.
In Nioh 2, your Onmyou (and Ninjutsu) are physical tools and talismans which are consumed. So you would go to the nearest shrine and choose to "Ready Jutsu"
Tumblr media
This would bring you to a menu show your capacity and what skills you've learned.
Tumblr media
And then you could assign those pieces of gear to one of your eight hot-key slots. Resulting in me having a bunch of stuff I want available immediately and some items I use between fights so I can take my time about activating them and thus don't need to use one of my limited hot-buttons.
Tumblr media
The main thing that made me go "That makes Vancian magic make so much more sense" even more than Feist's rituals with the cut-offs. Is that each of these tools is a consumable item and once you use it, you have to make another one.
The energy isn't something you have on tap where rituals are used to funnel it. It is something you take effort and time to create and then you expend it like a grenade, potion, or ammunition.
On top of this, Nioh 2 does have powers that you can use repeatedly over time as power builds up in the form of yokai powers and yokai shift. Both of which hinge on your nature as half-yokai and the yokai spirits that have allied with you. For these powers you have two pools of endurance that build up over time, one of which you can use piecemeal to summon your yokai powers and one of which you have to build up to a specific threshold in order to shift into a yokai form.
So they both have consumable one-use spells in the way D&D does in the form of Jutsu and inherent magical energy to fuel powers in the form of Anima (fueling yokai powers) and the Amrita Gauge (the threshold for changing into yokai form). But they are separated.
I'm going to set aside Anima and Amrita because they are basically "Sorcery that makes sense" and function by getting rid of spell slots.
The Jutsu is the method I'm focusing on here again because:
Each prepared "slot" represents a tool prepared using engineering, chemistty, mystical reagents, or appealing to spirits.
The stuff that makes the tools and talismans is external to the character.
The slots are not specifically numbered. As a note, point pools have been an alternative magic casting method since late 2nd edition.
This combination of creating a physical consumable and dropping the level-sorted slots was the thing that made Vancian casting make so much more sense. But then again... this wouldn't be Vancian casting, would it?
Side note, another facet of Nioh 2's "Jutsu" system is that leveling up the skill does not improve the damage that technique does. Fire Shot I, Fire Shot II, and Fire Shot III all base their damage on your Magic rating and other inherent bonuses.
What leveling up the skills does is increase their efficiency and increase the maximum number you can craft. For example
Fire Shot I: Prepare 1-6 fire shot talismans at 1 capacity each.
Fire Shot II: Prepare 1-8 fire shot talismans at 0.8 capacity each
Fire Shot III: Prepare 1-10 fire shot talismans at 0.7 capacity each.
This is largely just neat and not part of my epiphany on Nioh 2 and Vancian casting.
Now, you can't just change D&D to match that. It would be a completely different flavor of magic. But it is curious to see how it things would have developed if they had taken this track.
What If...
The big change here is that this mode of "magic" is more akin to being a D&D artificer than a D&D wizard. As you can also see, it would also have worked with some rogue abilities too with craftable thrown weapons, grenades, and medicines.
My suspicion is that if D&D had started with the assumption of wizards and clerics preparing relics and talismans between fights then it would be the sorcerer that was a late comer rather than the artificer. Though the artificer might not have been called such since it would be the base assumption.
I kind of suspect if the sorcerer had been introduced in that environment we would have heard something akin to the "no sci-fi in my fantasy" we get with artificers today but instead we'd be having "no mutant superheroes in my fantasy" with sorcerers.

Club Q shooter changes plea to guilty on federal hate crime charges
Anderson Lee Aldrich pleaded guilty to each of the 74 charges of violating provisions of the Matthew Shepard And James Byrd, Jr., Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 as well as gun crimes in the Club Q shooting. Aldrich initially pleaded not guilty. Federal prosecutors are recommending a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, to be followed by a 190-year sentence of imprisonment, according to court documents filed on June 4. Prosecutors said in a Jan. 9 filing they would not be seeking the death penalty. The sentencing recommendation details Aldrich's alleged past use of online platforms "to express anti-gay and anti-transgender views," use of anti-gay slurs and harassment of a gay co-worker in the years preceding the attack. In addition to the federal charges, Aldrich was already sentenced to over 2,000 years in state prison in June 2023 after pleading guilty to five counts of murder in the first degree and 46 counts of attempted murder in the first degree. Aldrich pleaded no contest to two bias-motivated crimes.
Daniel Davis Aston, Kelly Loving, Derrick Rump, Ashley Paugh and Raymond Green Vance were killed in the attack.

Tagged by @tocourtdisaster to list 10 books that have stuck with me, so here we go.
1. Taliesin by Stephen Lawhead (actually the whole series really)
2. The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett (whole series ditto)
3. Lyonesse by Jack Vance (ditto ditto)
4. Blandings Castle by PG Wodehouse (I'm sensing a theme)
5. Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor (Do I ever read anything that isn't part of a series?)
6. Faerie Tale by Raymond E Feist (Oh yes, it seems I do.)
7. Attack of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks by Christopher Brookmyre
8. One Corpse Too Many by Ellis Peters
9. The Time Machine by HG Wells
10. Goddess of Love by PC Cast
Oh, and only now do I realise I could have put non-fiction. Bugger.
Tagging (but honestly no pressure) @bishybarnaby @sailaweigh @dasenergi @amine-eyes and anyone else who wants to do it. 😊

THE FACULTY!
Teachers, Instructors and Coaches of the Lucyverse
Tumblr media
Here’s a tribute to all the teachers at the Lucyverse University!
Tumblr media
Jean Valjean Raymond (Apache Dancing) played by Shepard Menken in “The Adagio” (1951). Ethel suggests the recently-arrived cousin of someone at the French laundry to teach Lucy how to dance the Apache. He turns out to be more interested in amore than apache!
Tumblr media
Percy Livermore (English / Grammar / Elocution) played by Hans Conried in “Lucy Hires an English Tutor” (1952). Naturally, tutor Livermore has show business aspirations. Conried also played various teachers and instructors on Ball’s radio sitcom “My Favorite Husband.”
Tumblr media
Madame LeMond (Ballet) played by Mary Wickes. LeMond was the premiere ballerina of the French Ballet. She puts Lucy through her paces at the barre.
Tumblr media
Arthur ‘King Cat’ Walsh (Jitterbug) played by Arthur Walsh in “Lucy Has Her Eyes Examined” (1953). In real life, Walsh was one of Hollywood’s most popular Jitterbug dancers / actors. His first film role was as a Jitterbugging soldier in Stage Door Canteen (1935).
Tumblr media
Robert Dubois (French) played by Alberto Morin in “The French Revue” (1953). A waiter moonlighting by giving French lessons, DuBois is really in show business and wants to audition for Ricky at the Tropicana. In reality, Morin was not French, but born in Puerto Rico!
Tumblr media
Kitty Winslow (Dance) played by Lucille Ball in “K.O. Kitty” (1958), an episode of the Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse. The dance instructor turns boxing coach when she ‘inherits’ a prize fighter. Lucy Carmichael also coached a prize fighter (played by Don Rickles) in a 1967 episode of “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
Henry Taylor (Math) played by William Windom in “Lucy Digs Up a Date” (1962). Although Jerry calls him ‘Old Man Taylor’, he is a new young bachelor recently relocated to Danfield from San Francisco. He replaced teacher Mr. Lucas (a character we never see). In various episodes of “The Lucy Show” Jerry also talks about teachers named Mrs. Lopus and Miss Clementine.
Tumblr media
Vito (Fencing Instructor) played by Vito Scotti, also in “Lucy Digs Up a Date” (1962). He gives lessons at the new Danfield YMCA.
Tumblr media
Professor Dr. Gitterman (Singing and Acting) played by Hans Conried in “Lucy’s Barbershop Quartet” (1963) and “Lucy Plays Cleopatra” (1963). The roles are reversed when Lucy uses his breath control techniques in “Lucy Teaches Ethel Merman to Sing” (1964).
Tumblr media
Dr. Adrian Vance (Chemistry) played by Lou Krugman in “Lucy and Viv Take Up Chemistry” (1963). Vance teaches night school at Danfield High.
Tumblr media
Mr. Sheldon (Judo) played by James Seay in “Lucy and Viv Learn Judo” (1964). Sheldon runs a Judo and Karate studio in Danfield. During the lesson he is assisted by his prize students, Louis Coppola and Ed Parker, who were real-life martial arts experts hired for the episode.
Tumblr media
Professor Guzman (Art) played by John Carradine in “Lucy Goes To Art Class” (1964). Guzman teaches Beginning Art Class at Harold’s Stationery and Art Store in Danfield.
Tumblr media
Mickey Rooney (Acting) in “Lucy Meets Mickey Rooney”. The school Mickey Rooney wants to open is called The Players Showcase.
Tumblr media
When “Lucy Gets Her Diploma” (1967) she attends Wilshire High School. There she has several teachers (top left to bottom right):
Larry Wilcock plays the Math teacher
Barbara Babcock plays the English teacher
Olive Dunbar plays the Biology teacher
Donald Randolph plays the History teacher
Tumblr media
Ken Jones (Dance) played by Ken Berry in “Lucy Helps Ken Berry” (1968).  Jones teaches a course of tap and soft shoe for $25.
Tumblr media
Sister Mary Alice (Grade School Teacher) played by Mary Gregory in the film Yours, Mine and Ours (1968). Sister teaches Lucy’s son Philip and objects to him using his adopted name Beardsley, insisting he is still legally a North.
Tumblr media
Buddy Rich (Drums) coaches Craig in “Lucy and the Drum Contest” (1970).
Tumblr media
Mike Howden plays a Ski Instructor in “Someone’s On the Ski Lift with Dinah” (1971).
Tumblr media
Freddy Martin coaches Lucy Carter in the saxophone in “Lucy and Her All-Nun Band” (1971). Martin was a saxophonist and band leader who first gained national attention in 1940 and continued on through the 1970s.
Tumblr media
Professor Dietrich and Professor John Kleindorf played by Murray Matheson and John Davidson in “Lucy and the Professor” (1973). Kleindorf is the head of the music department of the college Kim attends. Dietrich is the author of the best-selling book Sex and the College Girl.
Tumblr media
Jack Scott (Auto Mechanics) played by Robert Rockwell in “The Not-So-Popular Mechanics” (1973). Scott teaches night courses at Valley Trade School. Rockwell is probably best remembered as biology teacher Mr. Boynton on “Our Miss Brooks” (1952-56) opposite Gale Gordon and Mary Jane Croft, a series filmed at Desilu Studios.
Tumblr media
Mr. Tweed (Pottery) played by Roger Twedt in “Lucy and Uncle Harry’s Pot” (1973). Twedt was a real-life art teacher from Palm Springs, California. He also  was Lucille Ball’s adviser for using the pottery wheel.

Crossover Masterlist
I did threaten to do this so the natural next step was to go and organize a list of crossovers! I tried to stick to main ones/ones that have been developed a bit more but I’m happy to include anything else so!! If anyone isn’t on the list but wants to be included lmk (I was sticking with people who interacted with the original post, happy to include anyone who might have missed it), if I’ve missed any specific crossovers you want included lmk, or if there are any that you want me to take off the list, lmk that too!!

Neighbors, a local news station in San Diego interviewed Aaron Brink, the father of Anderson Aldrich and the suspect in the Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ nightclub shooting. That claimed the lives of Kelly Loving, Daniel Aston, Derrick Rump, Ashley Paugh and Raymond Green Vance.
___________________________________________
In a bizarre interview with CBS 8 News, Aaron Brink reveals his relationship with his son, also that he was a former pornstar, and he feels like his son was disgraced by his career choice.
___________________________________________
Brink also says his ex-wife called him from Colorado in 2016 to tell him their son, Nicholas Brink, had changed his name to Anderson Aldrich, and had killed himself. “His mother told me he changed his name because I was in Intervention and I had been a porno actor,” said Brink.
___________________________________________
For six years he thought his son was dead until his son called him last year, arguing with him over the phone. Brink said he's a Mormon. His first reaction was to question why his son was at a gay bar. When his son's lawyers called him to inform him about the shooting. “You know Mormons don't do gay. We don't do gay. There's no gays in the Mormon church. We don't do gay,” Brink said.
___________________________________________
As he learned more details of the deadly shooting, he said he was shocked.
“There's no excuse for going and killing people. If you're killing people, there's something wrong. It's not the answer.”
___________________________________________
Prayers to all the victims and their loved ones. 🙏🏾🕊️ Neighbors, what are your thoughts?
