He swings his sword so that this world may know peace a little longer, that the war may have served a greater good, that the blood spilled may have been worth it.

I actually hate my guard costume so fucking much. It’s long sleeved, but it’s mesh long sleeved. And it has pants all the way to our shoes. So imagine me, being very sweaty cus we just had a rehearsal in 81 degree (Fahrenheit) heat, trying to hurriedly put on a full sleeved and full legged costume cus they never give us enough time to comfortably get ready for inspection. Oh also the costume has a boob window (and it’s relatively big too), and since I don’t wanna flash people I wear a body suit under so I’m double layered and dying in the heat

Okay so I actually think Kevin probably has some of the worst fashion sense ever (we just don’t hear about it in canon bc Neil also doesn’t give a fuck abt clothes). His childhood didn’t allow him space to explore or care about his clothes so he joins the Foxes and it’s so evident he doesn’t know shit about fashion and Allison drags him to a mall ASAP

I think, overall, Kevin has a very elevated basics style yaknow (elevated in the sense that he’s rich as fuck do his basics are expensive as hell). Like he mostly wears plain t-shirts and hoodies paired with jeans and running shoes. And he wears A LOT, like an excessive amount, of Trojans and Foxes merch. Or he wears athleisure

And by athleisure I mean the sluttiest little running shorts and cut off shirts you’ve ever seen in your life

When it comes to formal wear though he does have an idea what he’s doing. He knows a strange amount about how suits should fit and can differentiate between semi-formal, formal and black tie without a second thought. He has an array of tailored suits and formal clothes in various colors from various designer brands (my little pretentious asshole)

I think he also tries to avoid wearing black as much as possible or tries to wear very little. And attending a school whose main color is highlighter orange definitely helps with that. He goes with a lot of earth tones and creams and just overall lighter colors

No one is ever going to let Raven!Neil within spitting distance of a mic but that doesn’t mean he can’t shit-talk opponents with that Butcher’s-smile on his face while no one’s recording. Sure he seems way too small to do any damage, but having an unfriendly, 6-foot something French backliner hovering behind you really lends weight to any argument.

So, if I start reading translations online for chapters, do you think I have to start over from chapter 1, or do you think that knowing changes that were made, I won't lose much if I start from where I last finished in playing in the EN version?

I think EN is mostly the same as JP, but key parts of the experience definitely get left out in EN. It’s fine to just play through the localization if you’re looking to generally understand the story. You don’t need to start from the beginning to follow what’s going on. I suggest reading translations if you have the time for it or just cross referencing them if you sense that something feels ���off” in the EN version.

There is no comprehensive compilation of all differences between JP and EN; it would be very difficult to search up and educate yourself on every localization change. However, I encourage you to go out of your way to look into these differences when possible; it’s an interesting study of our cultural differences.

everyone is fighting wars and shit and then bran is on some mystical journey and chatting with a man in a tree LOL

joke’s aside, i like bran’s story a lot. it’s super connected to the lore of the GOT universe and that makes it interesting, plus, i care about him as a character (gotta love the starks). all that being said, i think where it falls short is that it can feel SO disconnected from what everyone else is doing. i mean ofc he’s connected (three eyed raven and all that), but his journey feels very independent to sansa or arya or jon’s journey. he encounters comparatively fewer characters in the story, so we kind of lose that really cool sense of “everything is connected” for a while.

his personal journey is interesting for sure and learning about the magic present in the north through him is a good way to introduce the history of the godswood and magic and stuff, but there’s a distinctive lack of the “game of thrones”, if that makes sense. in fact, i’d argue that he’s the only stark who isn’t obviously playing it for the majority of the show (this isn’t to say that it isn’t revealed in the later seasons that he IS), which disconnects him almost entirely from the main narrative.

bran makes his journey north, becomes a greenseer, and manipulates the past to preserve himself (and his family), but his story feels largely disconnected from the main arc until he discovers the truth about jon snow’s parentage (among a few other things).

all this being said, i’m only at the end of season 4 of my rewatch, but this is just what i’m noticing about it the second time around after many years. and i DO remember liking the payoff of realizing bran has had a hand in his own fate (and the fates of those around him) the entire time, so i’m not knocking that (and maybe i’ll change my mind when i see it again). i can appreciate the build of suspense as he makes his journey north and then the satisfaction of finally understanding the specifics of what has happened.

anyway, all this to say that i think what i feel is missing in bran’s story, at least through the middle, is the sense of interconnectivity the character’s actions tend to have. the whole series has this “butterfly effect” sense to it through practical means, but bran’s actions throughout the beginning of the story and on his journey seem to happen largely within a vacuum (when compared to the other characters). it isn’t until there is an ACTUAL butterfly effect that we begin to feel just how interconnected bran is to the rest of the story, which has great payoff but can kind make you furrow your brow when we see his group trudging through the snow again towards the middle of the series (to me, even the bolton’s going after him felt super disconnected for some reason lol).

anyway those are my two cents on this very very old subject even though no one asked. take it with a grain of salt though, i’ve forgotten a LOT of the main series since i haven’t watched the show all the way through since the finale aired on cable haha

agents of shield s7 really was a shockingly good conclusion to something I like… like on it’s own it’s a good season but I don’t really realize how highly I think of it overall (it’s not agents of shield s4 who’s praises I’ll sing any day of the week) until I think about how many concluding seasons or books of shows or series I love could have been better if they were more like it in a variety of ways…
