It was a beautiful, still night. His feathers were flecked with snowflakes, contrasting beautifully against his glossy black wings. His feathers ruffled against the cool night air, but soon smoothed down as he took flight.

He didn’t quite understand it, but he was excited to talk to Eddie about it: you see, as he glided over the city and settled into the airstreams, he noticed many rows of lights flickering to life in patterns he hadn’t seen before. They didn’t match the high rise buildings, with their cubist illuminations. They didn’t look like regular lights, with their broad beams. They were tiny, brightly glowing dots.

Cream, red, blue, green, pink, orange… all different colours, speckled over the city. It was absolutely beautiful. He knew they adorned houses, but it looked entirely different from above. Like road maps, but vibrant markers of habitation, standing out even against the snow.

Like humanity saying ‘we persist’ against the cold.

He didn’t know why the lights were showing up now, in recent months, except for the correlation with snow —though perhaps that was coincidence. But oh, how he wanted that with Eddie.

Yes, he decided. He much preferred this view to the sewers and curbs. It’s much better to be a bird than a rat.

He was on his way to Eddie.

could you draw venom snake or naked snake with rodents? i like how rodents are a recurring theme in mgs: snake's "friends" in mgs1, a picture of gerbil fulton in the chopper in mgsv, a closet full of venomous hamsters that instakill you in mg2, edible rats in mgs3 etc. i choose to believe that bog boss is deliberately filling every mother base with rodents. could you depict him engaging in activities with them? could be extracting rodents from the field, being covered in rodents, petting them, observing each other, engaging in feral behaviour together - anything, i just think that'd be cool

you really had me pondering about the mgs rodent lore & then I realized Raiden is once again a different Codename Snake Bearer as there are no rodents in mgs2 (nor mgrr either as far as I know) ... he gets water bugs instead

Well, almost 2025 so I think you know what that means. Time to look at the toys of the year now, isn't it? 2024 felt agonizingly slow at times, but it's also like the year just slipped through my fingers. Time is weird. It's been a mixed affair that's ultimately ended on something of a low note for me. This December hasn't been a highlight that's for sure.

But hey, let's push that aside and take a look at some things that were highlights. Here's my top ten of 2024. I normally like to throw on five more as honorable mentions too but I don't think I bought enough this year to justify it. Also I simply didn't feel like fishing some of them off of the shelves.

This has been a pretty good year for toys, but I've felt my collecting slow down through it. Not that I think I'll ever quit as I still love the hobby. It's really more that I have so much of what I've always wanted already.
