Halloween Art Short Video / 薬屋のひとりごと ハロウィンアート ショート動画
Please note that the English lines are just my translation.
<< 猫猫/Maomao >>
(キョンシー/Kyonshī/Jiangshi : 中国版ゾンビ/Chugoku-ban zonbi/Chinese version of zombie)
猫猫「お前、うまそうだな。血のいい香りがするぞ」
Maomao “Omae, umaso-dana. Chino ii kaoriga suruzo.”
Maomao “You look tasty. I can smell the nice scent of blood.”
<< 壬氏/Jinshi >>
(九尾の狐/Kyubino kitsune/Nine-tailed fox : 中国に伝わる九本の尾を持つ狐の妖怪/Chugokuni tsutawaru Kyu-honno o’o motsu kitsuneno yokai/A nine-tailed fox monster from China)
壬氏「取って食ったりしない。こっちへ来い」
Jinshi “Totte kuttari shinai. Kocchi’e koi.”
Jinshi “I’m not going to eat you. Come over here.”
<< 高順/Gaoshun >>
(雷震子/Raishinshi/Leizhenzi : 『封神演義』の登場人物/‘Hoshin-Engi’no tojo-jinbutsu/A character in the classic Chinese novel ‘Investiture of the Gods’)
高順「空が騒がしい。ほら、そこ!雷に気を付けてください」
Gaoshun “Soraga sawagashii. Hora, soko! Kaminari-ni ki’o tsukete-kudasai.”
Gaoshun “The sky is noisy. Look, there! Be careful of thunder.”
<< 玉葉妃/Concubine Gyokuyou >>
(鉄扇公主または羅刹女/Tessen-Koshu or Rasetsunyo/Princess Iron Fan : 『西遊記』の登場人物/ ‘Saiyu-ki’ no tojo-jinbutsu/A character in the classic Chinese novel ‘Journey to the West’)
玉葉妃「この芭蕉扇が欲しいの?奪えるものなら奪ってごらんなさい」
Gyokuyo-hi “Kono Basho-Sen-ga hoshiino? Ubaeru mono-nara ubatte goran-nasai.”
Concubine Gyokuyou “Do you want this Palm-leaf fan? Go ahead and take it from me if you can.”
―――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
「うまそうだ(Uma-soda)」: looks tasty
「うまい(旨い、美味い/Umai)」: tasty (more manly and rougher than おいしい). Recently women also use this word, but it’s not formal. It’s no wonder Maomao say うまい, but noble women such as Concubine Gyokuyou or Concubine Lihua never use it.
「取って食う(とってくう/Totte-kuu)、取って食べる(とってたべる/Totte-taberu): It’s an idiom used in the negative form when reassuring someone who is frightened. Let’s say you are a big boss and summon a new staff to your room, and he is very nervous and worried in front of you. Then you can say, “Please relax, I’m not gonna eat you. I just wanted to see you.”
Hereunder please see the lines from Demon Slayer, Season 1 Episode 24.
胡蝶しのぶ「別に取って食べたりはしませんから、大丈夫ですよ~」
Kocho Shinobu “Betsuni totte tabe-tariwa shimasen-kara, daijobu desuyooo.”
Shinobu Kocho “Don’t worry, it’s not as if I’ll gobble him up, all right?”
煉獄杏寿郎「それはそうだろう!アッハハハハハ…」
Rengoku Kyojuro “Sorewa so daro! Ahhahahahaha…”
Kyojuro Rengoku “Well, of course you wouldn’t!”
It’s like a joke in order to lighten the mood. But in case of this Jinshi’s line, he is saying as a monster of the nine-tailed fox. So you might get eaten if you believe his sweet words of invitation and approach him…
「奪(うば)えるものなら奪(うば)ってごらんなさい」: Go ahead and take it from me if you can.
「できるものなら、やってみろ」: Do it if you can. (= You can never do it. Let’s see you’ll try it.)
These words are totally provocation.

Summary: When Steve woke up 70 years into the future, he expected he would dream about something new—the Valkyrie crashing into the water, walking around what should be familiar streets and recognizing almost nothing, seeing Peggy in those moments when she doesn't remember him, swarms of aliens coming out of the sky tearing the city to pieces. Instead, he had the same dream he dreamt every night 70 years ago. Every night, he dreamed of Bucky falling.

Hi there, just wanted to check, since the art posts will be anonymous, must the username that we provide in the sign-up form be different from that in the profile URL? Thanks!
Hello! What we mean when we say that the art will be anonymous is that we won’t be telling the authors who the artists are when they make claims. Art featured in the preview won’t be signed, and won’t identify the artists. This is another reason why the preview will only be available to the signed-up participants and not to the fandom at large.
Artists, please sign up using your current username and profile url :)

Momokawa Enkoku; Sun Wukong and Rasetsunyo, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, 1868, 1st lunar month, Minneapolis Institute of Art: Japanese and Korean Art
one sheet; woman with long, blowing hair, wearing green skirt with round floral patterns in brown and dark green, and red underskirt, with a large blue and yellow hair ornament, creating a breeze with a yellow and red fan on which a grey monkey wearing a green blouse and light green pants and brown boots, upside down, with a yellow staff This print shows the Monkey King Sun Wukong fighting with Princess Iron Fan, as in another print nearby. But this series of prints is about more than just the Monkey King’s exploits—it’s about storytelling in general. Listening to professional storytellers was a popular form of entertainment in Japan in the 19th century. Each print in this series is devoted to a famous storyteller, in this case Momokawa Enkoku (1851–1922), who was just 17 when this print was published. Size: 13 15/16 × 9 3/8 in. (35.4 × 23.81 cm) (image, vertical ōban) 14 1/8 × 9 3/8 in. (35.88 × 23.81 cm) (sheet) Medium: Woodblock print (nishiki-e); ink and color on paper

Kiss
Lirin, right on her baby forehead.
Marry
Rasetsunyo. No pressure on me, my dude. It’ll be like that lady that married the Berlin Wall.
Set on Fire
Dokugakuji. I mean he’s already dead, that’s the only reason. (I guess Rasetsunyo could go here but I’d probably get extra-wrecked for that)
Wrap a Blanket around
Kougaiji. He’s been through some shit.
Be Roommates with
Yaone, she’d probably be a good one.

oc bio - Akane
faceclaim: Nishikino Maki (Love Live! School Idol Festival) [PRETEND HER SKIN IS SEVERAL SHADES DARKER I’M SORRY OTL]
Full Name: Akane (愛奏) Nicknames: none of note Race: Deity/youkai Age (relative to canon timelines): a baby/child during the events of Gaiden, several hundred years plus during Saiyuki Birthday: July 30 Gender: Female Blood Type: A Occupation: princess Family: Kougaiji (father), Makoto (mother), Kanzeon Bosatsu, Jiroushin, Gyuumaou, Rasetsunyo (grandparents), Miru, Kisei, Lirin (aunts) Affiliation: Kougaiji Religion: some combination of Taoism and Hinduism Nationality: Indian (that’s what she’d say if you asked) Orientation: Demiromantic pansexual
Daughter of Kougaiji and Makoto, born in the world below and raised there in secret by her parents. She can often be seen around Houtou Castle, although she lives with her mother nearby. When Kougaiji began regularly staying at Houtou Castle to help with the revival of Gyuumaou, Akane went with him.
A scholar princess, she has an impressive educational resume, and never hesitates to let anyone know when they’re wrong. (She’s really actually kind of sweet, I promise...) Akane is well-aware of her divine and royal heritage, and is perhaps a little too quick to bring attention to it; this has gotten her in trouble before, but she is quite skilled at getting herself out of trouble. (Avoiding trouble? No. Getting out of trouble once it happened? Yup.) While outspoken, bossy, and competitive, Akane is still a powerful and loyal ally to have; she has been known, in the past, to help people she likes personally, against the apparent better interests of her family at large.

deu·ter·ag·o·nist
noun /ˌd(y)o͞odəˈraɡənəst/ the person second in importance to the protagonist in a drama
a bungou stray dogs theater / acting AU based on act-age’s princess iron fan arc
.
Covers Volumes 11 and 12 of ACT-AGE.
For context: In the original story, the MC and her rival actress are double cast as the main role, Rasetsunyō (Princess Iron Fan), and both productions are pitted against each other in a popularity contest. All supporting roles are also double-cast. Particularly, the male supporting lead, Son Goku (Monkey King), is also shared by two top actors— one is a Hollywood star returning to Japan, and the other is one of the best actors in the theater world.
(AU proper under the cut!)
Dazai is this AU’s MC, former Japan-based actor turned Hollywood movie star and friends with Odasaku, a young playwright. Rasetsunyo (Luo-Sha Nû / Princess Iron Fan), based on the Chinese legend Saiyuki (Hsi-Yu Chi / Journey to the West) is the last play he had written before he died.
A few years passed since Dazai moved to LA. Back in Japan, Fukuzawa’s troupe plans to put up a production of Rasetsunyō, so Fukuzawa contacts Dazai and asks him if he’s interested to help out. Because it's for Odasaku, Dazai says yes.
Fitzgerald, CEO of Dazai’s American agency’s, hears of this whole thing his actor is gonna get involved in. He wants to milk as much publicity and money from it as possible. He contacts Mori’s agency in Japan, which happens to be the #1 home of top entertainment stars. As it turns out, Dazai used to be part of Mori’s agency, but left after certain events involving Odasaku. Mori sees this as a chance to make Dazai regret his decision, and agrees to help Fitzgerald.
So Mori and Fukuzawa, under Fitzgerald’s suggestions, eventually agree on a double-cast competition, where Fukuzawa’s troupe’s production is pitted against Mori’s agency’s production, and both performances will be streamed live on major entertainment channels and sites for the public to vote their preferred production. (Mori, a director and producer himself, is confident, of course, but he has always been wary of Fukuzawa, who is both a retired actor and an amazing director in his own right.)
Team Fukuzawa stars the following:
1. Yosano is Rasetsunyō (Princess Iron Fan), the lead role for this production. But she hears that a certain Dazai Osamu is coming back to Japan just for this, and she resents him for it. She hates the fact that she is being relegated to the sidelines as supporting lead instead, even though the Monkey King is the actual supporting lead. In the end, she has a change of heart and decides to help Dazai after she hears his backstory.
2. Dazai is Son Goku (Monkey King), the deuteragonist and antagonist of the show, who faces off against Rasetsunyō for ownership of the magic fan. Predictions are that people will be watching this show only for Dazai, and not for the play. The whole troupe plans to prove the public wrong. Dazai's whole stake in the show is actually a lot more complicated than it seems, and the night before the play, a single incident ruins all their efforts. The whole cast now has to work together to save Dazai and prevent him from losing himself during the actual play.
3. Kunikida as Genjō Sanzo (Tripitaka), who hates Dazai’s capricious motivation with a passion. It reminds him of an old friend who lost himself in the past. The role requires an enlightened, refined persona, but Kunikida has to face his issues first.
4. Junichirō as Sa Gojō (Sandy). Originally Naomi's role, but she backed out due to an emergency a week before opening night, and Junichirō takes over for her. (He hasn’t joined the troupe btw.) For a total beginner, he has a peculiar knack for acting, which makes Mori interested in scouting him for his own agency.
5. Atsushi as Cho Hakkai (Pigsy), the newest recruit of Fukuzawa’s troupe. Orphaned at an early age, Atsushi has lived in the back alleys behind Fukuzawa’s theater for god-knows-how-long, always watching them practice from the shadows. One of the few times Dazai has visited Fukuzawa’s troupe to hang out with Odasaku, he notices Atsushi acting out a soliloquy by himself, and it touches him. He immediately recommends Atsushi to Fukuzawa, who accepts him into the troupe.
On the other hand, Mori handpicks his best-suited actors to face Fukuzawa’s troupe, as follows:
1. Kouyou as Rasetsunyō. A queen in her own right, with the looks, wit and charm of a top actress to show for it. She does, however, have beef with Dazai over how he betrayed Mori’s agency in the past, citing how unprofessional Dazai had been during that time. She intends to put Dazai in his place by winning this contest. (She may or may not have had a past relationship with Odasaku. It was a major topic during the initial press conference; it was quickly shot down before it could die a natural death.)
2. Chuuya as Son Goku. He’s actually a rock star who ventured into acting, and has won the new actor’s award recently. He was on good terms Dazai until, well, events. At the outset, he feels honored to share the role with Dazai and to face off with him in a fair and square manner, but his increasing interactions with Dazai over the past few weeks leave him confused and conflicted, and it destroys his acting. The whole debacle breaks his idealism but lets him grow as an artist. (Of course this is gonna be minor Soukoku/DaChuu. What’d y’all expect? Lol)
3. Hirotsu as Genjō Sanzo. A veteran actor who retired into the countryside as a small village teacher. Life has been quiet, until Mori, his old student, calls. He was inclined to say no until he hears Dazai is involved. (The same thing also happened to him before.) It greatly piques him as a result, and he says yes because he has things he wants to tell Dazai, things his kouhai needs to learn for himself before he is destroyed from inside. Hirotsu's one-time return out of retirement also makes big news, increasing the hype for Team Mori’s production.
4. Higuchi as Sa Gojō. A top idol in her own right, known for her cool, stoic image, but actually is pining for Akutagawa a lot. She jumps at the chance to co-star with Akutagawa on this production, but Mori’s directions put her into a lot of pressure and mental torture, and she is practically rebuilt from the ground up to become a better actress. She is still far from a real one, though, and everyone can see that she is but a “manufactured” product.
5. Akutagawa as Cho Hakkai. Known as the “chameleon actor”, he quickly fits into any role given to him— but only on stage/set. Offstage/off-cam, he is brash, quick to lose temper, and refuses to cooperate with anybody for whatever reason at all. He thinks this whole competition is stupid and pointless until he finds out Dazai is in it. He, too, has issues with Dazai— namely, the fact that Dazai never acknowledged his acting skills throughout his stay in Mori's agency. Akutagawa agrees to play this role to make Dazai recognize him once and for all.
.
Some notes on the title, “deuteragonist”
Officially, Dazai plays the deuteragonist in Rasetsunyo, but he’s actually the central character of this whole debacle, not that he realizes it. This title also references the fact that no one can be the full protagonist of their own story, as much as they want to think they are.
There's Yosano, who's the play's lead but is being relegated to the sidelines. There's Akutagawa, who never got Dazai's attention and is unsatisfied as a result. There's Higuchi, who uproots her whole life for Akutagawa but still isn't enough, and that acting is not for her. And then there's Chuuya, who gets way too involved with Dazai, that it destroys that sense of identity he has always been proud of. Also Fukuzawa and especially Mori, who think (and try to) get everything under control, but are actually just playing right into Fitzgerald's hands.
.
And that's a wrap! Thank you so much for reading until the end.
Again, this AU is based on ACT-AGE’s Princess Iron Fan Arc arc! I’ve posted about it here. Watch the PVs and vote for your favorite team by retweeting either Side A or Side B. Poll is open until July 10th, 23:59 Japan Time only, so get voting!

Day 29
What is something you hope doesn’t happen in the series?
I really hope none of the Sanzo Ikkou die. I don’t want any of them to have to go through that, but especially Goku. The audience knows reincarnation is a thing, and we can take small comfort that they’ll probably find each other again, but it would be so sad to watch them grieving after coming so far...
Also, I hope Yaone and Lirin don’t vanish and never impact the plot again, and I hope it doesn’t turn out that Rasetsunyo has been dead all along, she gets saved and then immediately keels over, or for her pillar to get broken as collateral damage. Kougaiji deserves to catch a break. But I have a feeling one of those scenarios is what will happen anyway.

Saiyuki season 1 episode 2
The Sanzo party is on the move. This sets up a fun family dynamic, I think. Goku and Gojyo are the kids. (Although Gojyo is 20?? which I still find hard to believe because he acts like a perverted old man.) Sanzo is the angry father who’s continually threatening to leave the kids by the side of the road. And Hakkai’s the mom who somehow manages to keep cheery despite the chaos. This is basically how all the travel goes throughout the series.
There’s a visual of Kanzeon Bosatsu, the “merciful goddess.” She is the one that indirectly sets Sanzo and his party on their path to the West. She seems to know of their pasts, and makes reference to events in Heaven a long time ago.
There’s also a visual of Kougaiji, who is one of the main baddies. He’s sent assassins to waylay the Sanzo party at the village they’re resting in. He’s cooperating with the plans to resurrect Gyumaoh in order to free his mother, Rasetsunyo
So the party stops at a village to eat and sleep, and also to ask around about the demon population. They learn that the demons have gone mad and left, and the innkeeper’s daughter holds a grudge against demonkind in general since they killed a friend of hers. Night falls, a group of “circus performers” appears and the party retreats to their seperate rooms to sleep.
Also to be attacked. None of the attackers are successful, but Sanzo does get ambushed by a gross spider lady, while he was interogating Nails Demon (pictured above)
Spider Lady had taken the innkeeper’s daughter hostage, but the party swiped her away and got to fighting! Houmei (the daughter) comes to in time to hear that her rescuers are actually demons too! dun dun duuuuuun
Sanzo shows off his scripture for the first time here, using it to tie up the large spider the Spider Lady transformed into (also after she ate the rest of her underlings), and she gets taken down.
Right before the party leaves in the morning, Houmei (the daughter) gives Goku an apology lunch. And just in case you don’t know yet, Goku really loves food and is always hungry. It’s basically his main character trait.
Pretty weak episode, I’ll admit I tuned out about half of it, watching tonight.
