Could you please share any headcanons you have of Martha and Thomas Wayne meeting and getting to know their grandkids? It’s like the rarest types of fanfics but it’s one of my guilty pleasures to read Bruce’s parents getting to meet their grandchildren and their reactions to the family Bruce created.

Bruce looks enough like Thomas to give everyone shivers

Martha only recognizes Alfred at the very beginning

Thomas spots several injuries / braces / etc among the children and is very very serious about confronting Bruce about it before it’s explained to him

Martha and Thomas never expected Bruce to make WE so large and profitable after their deaths - they wanted him to go to college and get a job like Thomas did

Damian guards Bruce the whole time because he can tell he’s tense about the attention

Dick plays moderator and chats with Martha and Thomas, who initially assume he’s a good friend of the family because he doesn’t call Bruce dad

They’ve vaguely heard of Tim’s parents before and ask after them, which is a mistake

Someone asks Bruce where his wife is if he has all these kids running around. Also a mistake

For some reason the whole batfamily tries to keep the vigilante stuff a secret but Martha and Thomas are too keen for that to last long

Martha doesn’t like how tall everyone is — the only one she can reach is Damian and maybe Tim

Jason of all people rises to Bruce’s defense when Thomas lingers a little too pointedly on him never going to school or doing enough to take up the family business

Was pondering how Mark’s rigid ass mask/lens is prob a Budget Thing (since squishy, bendy lens are pretty much a mandate for all hero animated series, like JL, BTAS, TNBA, Spider-Man, etc), and then I was slapped with a vision of Mark in a more JL/BTAS-ish style and I had to see it through. I am a genius btw.

What is the PR disaster in question that made Rick announce TSATS? I wasn’t active in the online fandom at that point

Of course! This was awhile ago so it figures people don't remember it/aren't familiar:

Basically a couple years back (2020) the fandom had some posts circulate discussing the ways different characters in the Riordanverse were written poorly or offensively. There was a masterpost that went around tumblr but the two major points people were particularly focusing on were Piper and Samirah (particularly because Piper had featured prominently again in Trials of Apollo recently and the third MCGA book had further emphasized and discussed Samirah being Muslim, since it was supposed to take place during Ramadan). Basically each had multiple posts breaking down the ways they were depicted incorrectly or offensively. The entire fandom for a little bit was VERY intensely discussing this (and it's around this time the "RR crit" tag got very popularized on tumblr - it did exist before, but suddenly was being used VERY frequently - cause it was that wide-spread - though the discussion took over basically every side of Riordaverse social media on different platforms). People really wanted Rick to respond to these criticisms, so he did!

He made two blog posts, one about Piper and one about Samirah. He has since deleted both so the links are to archived versions. The short version: he essentially tried to justify his poor research and double-down that he hadn't written them offensively, actually, people were just being mean to him. The fandom, of course, reacted poorly to this.

(Fun fact, this all happened within a month or so of the time i posted an open letter on aphobic tropes in the Riordanverse that Rick replied to, and then he immediately followed with announcing that Reyna was intended to be ace-coded [which cause a LOT of fandom debate] before Rick dipped for a couple of weeks, and then came back to post the blog posts in response to Piper and Sam stuff. So I like to jokingly refer to this as "The time I imploded the fandom/drove Rick off of twitter." Twas I that set the house ablaze.)

Rick fully left social media after this and the LT Musical social media manager became Rick's social media manager for the time being.

So this all happened June/July of 2020. Tower of Nero would end up being published in October of 2020 and a few months after that Rick would state that he was done with the series and wouldn't be writing any more series installments involving Percy, and also that he wouldn't be writing a Nico quest following Tower of Nero as it "wasn't his place to" and encouraged the community to write their own versions of Nico's story.

The community continued to circulate the tumblr posts and discuss the topics of Rick's offensive character depictions, and this is also where we see the dramatic shift in how the fandom depicts Piper in fanwork (though in most cases it is admittedly not an improvement 😬) because of all this discussion. This is also around the time when the fandom brought Viria under scrutiny claiming that she was whitewashing Piper as part of the same discussions, through the justification that she was drawing Annabeth as having tan skin (which she does canonically), and if Annabeth has tanner skin then Piper then that's whitewashing Piper? Except they were using completely separate images of not fully rendered Piper art versus Annabeth in dramatic lighting, so it's all very awkward and poor logic, and did actually get kind of racist. A lot of people were calling it "Tannabeth Blackchase" (yeah, i know) or similar and a common sentiment you'd see repeated is "Don't draw Annabeth as having darker skin than Piper, because that's offensive/racist/whitewashing." (Note: it was not phrased "don't draw Piper as having lighter skin than Annabeth" - we also won't get into certain offensive depictions of Native Americans, but I digress). But yeah, the Annabeth stuff in all that did not age well at all.

Anyways, in October of 2021 however Rick would announce that he was co-writing The Sun And The Star - with a lot of heavy emphasis on how Mark Oshiro works as a sensitivity reader, and some false advertising from the official social media that Mark Oshiro was the first time a non-Riordan author would be collaborating on the series (disregarding the ghostwriters completely). One of the big criticisms in the breaking down of issues in Rick's writing was his lack of ever seeking a sensitivity reader, and fans claiming that a sensitivity reader could solve a lot of the problems. This was basically Rick's "look! I totally listened!!!!" (though it did little to actually improve things, based on the book) and in TSATS as well Piper gets a large cameo at the end where the text very directly addresses a lot of points made in criticism of Rick's writing of her.

We also then of course got the CoTG trilogy later, explicitly stated to be for advertising purposes for the show.

So basically, short version: Rick came under scrutiny for a lot of offensive writing within the span of two months, made some bad blog posts doubling down about it, left social media. TOA ends. Rick says he wasn't going to continue the series/write what would become TSATS. Community celebrates the end of of the franchise but also continues to discuss Rick's poor writing and the blog posts at length. Rick suddenly announces TSATS and Mark Oshiro's involvement. Everybody gets distracted from being mad. Show announcement stuff also happens and the discussions peter out.

OHHH HI!! I don't really have a tag for her here because I haven't actually posted her much on this account and I'm always really shy about fan ocs but 👉👈 i'll put most info/extra drawings under the readmore, a lot of her outfit/design is still a wip so forgive the messiness

Meet Captain Nemo! She's based directly around Jules Verne's Nemo of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea/Journey Through The Impossible/The Mysterious Island! She is an extremely intelligent and knowledgeable woman, but alternates often between calculated aloofness and bouts of impassioned agitation and can occasionally be provoked into furious outbursts, especially now that she's been dredged up from hiding.

She's got a very complicated past with many fixer associations and syndicates alike, and her place of origin is a complete mystery, as is her real name and reason for why she's so averse to life in the City and disdainful of it's many rules. Whatever it is that caused her to be this way is what pushed her to craft the Nautilus, her beloved magnum opus made of various tech from all across the City. She originally intended to use the ship to completely escape the City and it's rules, but due to mysterious circumstances that she refuses to speak on, the ship and much of it's crew have disappeared without a trace.

Her distinct habits include introducing herself to strangers by a wide variety of pseudonyms, a knowledge of many languages and codes, her general quietness unless something directly involves her input or expertise, smoking very particular cigars, and a strong dislike and surprising inability to remain impartial when matters of the impoverished people (especially children) of the Backstreets are involved.

As for actual gameplay, Her base ID does slashing Gloom and Pride, with some applying bleed count and others applying rupture potency. Her weapon, Nautile, is composed of three chakrams inlaid like an astrolabe, with the largest having a handle in the middle. It seats into a glove on her right hand, but can also connect to either side of a tactical harness she wears and can be hidden by her LC coat in case she doesn't need it ready! Her base E.G.O., Infini Vivant, is Wrath affinity and themed upon the electric ampoule-based gun Captain Nemo used to hunt underwater, and does piercing bleed damage and adds rupture count.

Although I like to think of scenarios where she would interact with canon sinners (she would have a preference for those like Ishmael and Meursault and a dislike of those like Outis and Hong Lu), she's more treated as a Sinner who exists in a noncanon smaller mobile unit dedicated to working with the LCD and handling things like Monoliths and Distortions.

Man, soul society LOVES a holiday, especially one that involves costumes, reasoning behind the holiday be damned. For them, it's a bit more like Mardi gras than a scary holiday, but on Halloween there are roughly 4 camps:

People who are way more into the Pumpkin Spice part of October than the Spooky Parts: Sasakibe, Isane, Aizen (as part of his cover), Love, KOMAMURA, Tousen (also info-dumping every fun fact about bats to anyone who will listen), Hitsugaya (pre-gaming for Snow Season).

People hosting the Spoopy Halloween Block Party because Halloween is for the KIDS: Omaeda (actually here for the MILFs but that's ok), SHINJI, BYAKUYA, Iba, Kensei, Mashiro, Ikkaku, Kenpachi (but only until 9PM), Mayuri (unfortunately), Urahara, UKITAKE.

I personally think with the focus the administration has on restricting women and people they see as such, it’s fair to say that transmascs will be just as deeply affected by their actions, just with less direct language (which goes with how transphobia often tends to look for transfems and transmascs vis a vis hypervisibility vs erasure). That said, I want to remind folks that what this government is doing is meant to exhaust you by making you freak out about everything. It’s supposed to be too much, and if you worry about all of it, you will be paralyzed. I’m not saying don’t worry (I hate the “don’t worry, it’s all illegal!” perspective, because the law is not immutable or total and will be ignored). I’m not saying to ignore orders that don’t directly affect you. Care about your community, and how the orders affect it, not about the orders themselves. Find those less fortunate than you, and bring them up. Find those more fortunate than you who are sympathetic, and invite them in (yes, even if they kinda suck. I’ve been there, but “kinda sucks” is better than “wants you dead”). The only way we’re getting through this is together. Be strong, be brave, and we will make it through this.

yeah, I'll be honest we've been trying to keep this a joyful space and as such have been trying really hard to keep mentions of politics at bay for the most part. but "kinda sucks" is better than "wants you dead" is EXACTLY what our point is with reblogging things like that last heritage post. The right is *extremely* good at overlooking the particular differences amongst them in favor of uniting over a common enemy- part of which is our community. The left, by contrast, is incredibly fragmented because of infighting and the desire to label things and not associate with people who may have a singular view slightly different than our own. Infighting only stands to benefit the enemy- we're stronger altogether than in our own smaller groups.

I think they sometimes would malfunction (if only because it amuses me + I find it unbelievable that these magic translator earbuds that are being worn by professional athletes for hours on end during practice and matches are never subjected to conditions that their creators didn't anticipate), but the scenario you're describing here is more likely to come from isagi to kaiser
